    Hello,
Two weeks ago today I was able to sign the papers for the very car you're considering. I was going to get the car for Invoice + Destination Charge but agreed to pay + $250 dealer locate fee(fluff charge I know) in order to get my first color choice. All went well and I seriously enjoy this new Accord, my third. So I would think that invoice is attainable in your area. My dealer was located in Burlington, N.J.

Guru - I purchased my 2010 EX-L V6 navi a month ago for $250 over invoice, in central Pennsylvania. Thought that was a fair price considering the stock on '09s was still plentiful. Got the 2.9 financing for 60 months as well. Another dealer 40 miles away quoted me $150 over invoice. Could have probably held out for invoice or maybe below, but didn't think it was worth it. Maybe today, a month later, I would consider it.

nice! that's 800 better than i was able to do, and i put in some effort. where are you located?
  • zqthomaszqthomas Member Posts: 4
I am in Omaha, NE. There're 4 honda dealers here. Seems very easy to negotiate. One dealer even gave me $21,150. Don't know how much lower I can get from his competitor.

From your post, I decided my bottom line is $21,000, but it seems it's not that hard to achieve.

thats great. i dont know why i wasnt able to get them lower but it wasnt for lack of trying. i emailed a bunch of dealers saying i would pay 21,650, nobody bit. I had one dealer price it at 21.8 and when i went to buy she said she made a mistake and the price was 22.4. she had like 5 in stock! she let me walk. maybe somebody on here has some insight bc it left me kind of befuddled.

one tip, once you get them to offer a price you like ask them to throw in some stuff. trunk liner, all weather floor mats, wheel locks etc. they seemed to go for that pretty easy.

Thanks for the tip. I will try to get it during the weekend, will let you know the results.

    Hello All,
I'm in the market (Sacramento area) for a 2009/2010 Honda Accord . Unfortunately the '09 Accords are not available anymore. The price I'm getting on the 2010 Accord LX is $20,300 + TTL. Is this a good deal? 2 or 3 of the dealers refused to go below that , one of whom was quoting 20,900 refused to decrease.
    Any tips on negotiating further.
    Thanks,
    Ram

    Klunkman.....

I am in the philly suburbs and wondering which was a good dealer for Hondas. I have been planning LX-P or EX. Which dealers did you get quotes from?

I am ready to compare dealers from DC to NJ and naything in between.
  • savirahesavirahe Member Posts: 6
I got these quotes from dealers in the Bay area,

    2010 accord, EX-L, V6 for 26.5k (including dest fee) + taxes
    2009 accord, EX-L, V6 for 25.5k (including dest fee) + taxes

I am looking for EX-L V6 model. Can someone suggest whether these prices are good, or if I should bargain more.

    Thanks!

I had a similar experience buying an EX-L. At first they said that they would be able to bring down the price more. After about 30 minutes of haggling, they let me walk. Possibly because there was only one EX-L left, and they thought they could get a better price.

Tips- don't share what color or interior you're wanting. giving them those specifics will basically give them more leverage (they tend to gauge, play by your emotion - they want to see how badly you want that car). Tell them that you dont know what colors you want. Get the price nailed down first! Also, check online inventory. If you want an EX, go to the dealer that has a glut of those. They tend to negotiate better if they have too many of a kind. Just my $0.02 :)

Looking to buy a 2010 Hondo Accord Coupe - LX - S. How does 22,000 before tax sound? Thanks

Is Etching part of the deal for Honda? I went to four different dealers in NJ and all want etching fee ranging from 200-300.
  • zqthomaszqthomas Member Posts: 4
Damn, Nebraska is different from NY state. Dealers here don't collect sales tax and registration, so the $21,000 OTD does not include those, and auto registration is ridiculously pricey.

Once I figured this out and quoted $20,500 (plus tax and registration would be similar to what mclarry paid), they didn't take the offer.

I will wait till the end of the year, and bug them every week with a price of $20,500.

    Hey Klunkman,

Send me the info on your dealer....both the one in Penn and one that is 40 miles away.
  • johngf1johngf1 Member Posts: 37
Bought a 2010 Accord LX-S coupe yesterday for $21,500 before tax. It beat my previous estimates of 22,700, 22,400 and 22000. You MUST shop different dealers unless you want to overpay. Good luck.

Etching is not mandatory on the part of American Honda Motor Company, otherwise they would "Etch" all models at the factory.

This is a dealer add on- nothing more. Etching is good if you live in an area with high auto theft rates, otherwise I'd say skip it.

If Jersey dealers aren't willing to work with you on this - don't be afraid to get some online quotes from other Honda dealers in neighboring states. Good luck.

The best price I can get so far is $29,500, for a 2010 Accord EX-L V-6 Sdn. w/Nav. What are people's thoughts on this. I feel I should be able to get it lower than that.
  • razduckrazduck Member Posts: 21
I got a Lease Quote yesterday for a 2010 Accord Sdn. EX-L V-6 w/Nav. They quoted me a 36 mo. Lease w/ 12,000 miles/yr. 0 money down, and $362.00 per month. I did not get a quote for 15,000 miles, as we never drive over 12K.
  • dbrousedbrouse Member Posts: 4
I would also like to know savirahe, as I am in the same situation. I'm looking to get the best price on a 2010 Honda EX V6, except without NAV.

This site was so helpful two years ago when I leased my wife's BMW 5 Series and previously with an Audi Q7 purchase. I literally saved thousands. I guess the question I have is what amount should be our goal off sticker, or how much above invoice?

I noted one post that stated $250 above invoice. Is that realistic?

Thanks everyone, and look forward to your response.

I just got a phone call from a Dealer in Portland, OR. He gave me a price of $300 over Invoice on a 2010 Accord Sdn. EX-L V-6 w/Nav, Invoice; $27,086 plus $300 for Selling price of $27,386. I am waiting for e-mail confirmation on this before we pull the trigger on this deal. Sounds mighty tempting!!!
  • savirahesavirahe Member Posts: 6
    razduck:

Yesterday, I went to the dealer and test drove the car. The quote seems to be $500 below invoice. The taxes and other minor fees seems to add up to $3k and extended warranty comes out to $1.5k for (8yr/120k). So, the total price tags seems to be 31k.

This sounds too much for a Honda. What are your thoughts?
    Thanks.
  • bige43bige43 Member Posts: 6
That would be a tempting deal since Edmunds lists the invoice price as being $800 more than your "selling" price. Something doesn't sound right here. Do you have a trade in the mix?? Dealer financing??

Even if there is $600 holdback the dealer is losing money. Dealers NEVER lose money.

At $29,500, you are looking at a hair over two percent profit for the dealer. To each their own, but I could live with that.

Went to a Honda dealer in NJ today just to browse and test drive the Accord Ex-L V6/with Nav. According to Edmunds, the inovice is $28,182. They offered me $200 over invoice with almost no negotiation. That is $29,092 plus TTL. Seems too good to be true for a 2010 model. I did not see any manufacturer to dealer incentives on this site. Is anyone paying invoice or less for this Accord model? If so, other than the recession, what is motivating these deals? Also, Honda is offering 1.9% financing on a 36 month loan. I might just have to seal the deal.
  • razduckrazduck Member Posts: 21
I got a similar quote from a dealer today, they quoted me $29,000 for the 2010 Accord Sdn. EX-L V-6 w/ Navigation. That's the best offer I have been given, and it seems like an excellent price for this outstanding automobile. :)
  • razduckrazduck Member Posts: 21
You're correct, the dealer forgot to add in the $1807 for the Navigation System. So the earlier price quote was correct, but for a 2010 Accord Sdn. EX-L V-6 w/o Navigation.

Therefore the accurate quote is $29,192, for the 2010 Accord Sdn EX-L V-6 w/Navigation. It sure didn't seem possible they would sell this car that cheap.

Sorry for posting the wrong price quote.

I just got quoted $24.8 OTD for an '09 Accord EX-L Auto. Is this a good price? He said he would throw in wheel locks and free oil changes.
  • jon0721jon0721 Member Posts: 25
You did well. I paid $200 more and did not get Electric Start and told them to remove and keep the Moon Roof wind deflector. I did get the car tinted though with Formula One. I also was over allowed my trade in that they paid me $200 over Whole sale Blue Book in "good" condition. (2006 HHR $9000 ACV 26K miles) Few dealers will pay low KBB for a car ACV. Most want to pay Auction prices.. So I feel good about my deal at $ 19,500 out of pocket.

I simply do not believe some of the under cost quotes floated here. there are no incentives on the car except for 1.9% financing. Why would a dealer sell at a loss? Used cars? Service? ................If they cannot make a profit on selling new cars what are they in that business for? They can just open a used car lot and service center and cut their overhead by 2/3rds.

2-3% profit is a fair price in my book and makes for a better experience overall. I don;t need $500 that bad to grind the dealership to a pulp. I have always made 2-3% over true dealer cost my final offer. They all will take it. Easy deal.

No need to apologize. I'm going to ink a deal for $29,142 (invoice plus $250) on Saturday. It was supposed to be delivered Wednesday but the transport got held up somewhere. The sales person called and said it was coming with a protection package (splash guards, wheel locks and trunk tray) and they need an additional $380. I told them I wasn't interested in any of these items and they could either leave them on or take them off, but I wouldn't pay more than $29,142. Got a call back a few hours later accepting the offer to deliver at my price.

This was really the only "push-back" I experienced through the whole deal. I never spoke to the salesman except to schedule the delivery. Everything else was email.

This method has worked for me time and again.

Depends on your tax, title, etc. This is what I paid last week:

    Splash Guards: 135

    Total: 22,135
    Tax on Total: 1,383.43
    Documentation: 329
    Plates/Reg: 125

    Total Out the Door: $23,972.43

I am in Northern Calif. Is 19,750 (+ about 10% for TTL) a good price?

Do you mean the warranty? If so, for how long and what was the cost for that portion? I have yet to buy the warranty for mine but I was quoted $860 for the 96 mo/100k Honda Care.
  • jb_turnerjb_turner Member Posts: 702
I do not see why someone would mention a price of over invoice. Go for under invoice... what really matters at the end of the day is OTD because we all pay it.
  • razduckrazduck Member Posts: 21
We went to our local Honda Dealer yesterday to test drive a Black on Black EX-L V-6 w/navi. This is the first time my wife had driven one these cars. She absolutely Loved the way the car drove and Loved the navi even more.

OK, so here's what happen after the test drive. We sat down with the Internet/Fleet Mngr. He gave us a pretty good price quote of $29,738.00. I told him that was not an acceptable offer, and showed him the quote we had received from the Portland Dealer. Bottom line is that they matched the offer of $29,000.000. As I understand it, the invoice cost on the EX-L V-6 w/navi is $28,892. So when the Mud Flaps ($135) and All Weather Floor Mats ($142), are added, this makes our purchase at about actual invoice. When the prices of the two accessories are added to the car, I think we made an outstanding deal, on a great car.

What we got for that price:

    2010 Honda EX-L V-6 w/navi
    Installed Mud Flaps
    All Weather Floor Mats
    Lic. & Title

    OTD Price: $29,083.00
  • razduckrazduck Member Posts: 21
I just noticed on the paperwork that the new car also has Silver Pin-Stiping as well, and that has a cost of $99, which is included in total price of $29,000.00.
  • capt2capt2 Member Posts: 57
We bought our 09' EXL-V6 w/nav in May for $28,212. I took that figure directly off the Edmunds site and was around $800 below invoice if I remember correctly. They did not even counter offer. Not long into the clunkers program I saw the price back up to around invoice.
  • misomochimisomochi Member Posts: 9
the protection package is splash guards, wheel locks, and trunk tray. I didn't get the additional warranty yet but my dealership did not have the 96 months - only 72 months.
