Since a trade was involved and your finance rate was bought there is no way to ascertain if you got a good deal... the point is to enjoy your car...

I purchsed a 2011 Accord EXL I4 AT (w/o Navi) for $24,600 OTD in SC. Included a protection pkg and additional items (e.g., mud guards, floor mats, window tint, paint stripe, trunk tray). Does this seem like a good deal to y'all? Thanks!

Does it include the sales tax?
    Thankyou.

I have several recent Honda purchases in Maryland. Thankfully, I have found several solid Honda dealers who have offered very good pricing and good service. These include Criswell, Hersons, Sport, and O'Donnell. Sadly, I found the Honda dealers in College Park and Bethesda do not seem to offer the same level of low pricing and honest practices.

    Hi Ken117,

Can you provide dealership name and city.? :)

    Hello every one

did any one get a new 2011 Accord EXL in Minneapolis , MN if so .. can you please let me know the Deal you got
    Thanks in Advance !!!

Came to a deal today for an Accord V6 EX-L. Basically a straight car w/ only 1 dealer add (window tint for $299). Final price was $4,500 under MSRP before TT&L. It wasn't the best deal I found (that was $4,700 under MSRP), but the extra drive was not worth saving $200. (19 hours each way to the lowest priced dealership...)

Feel good about the deal though. Substantially under the "True Market Value" price.
  • raxyraxy Member Posts: 4
    Hi.

Can you please post on which dealership you got both the deals.
May be something is near to where I am looking for the car.

    Thank you.
    Raxy.
  • raxyraxy Member Posts: 4
I saw the dealership website and indeed prices are 4K more than the quote you got. It is 600 miles from my place so I probably pass on it. But it looks like the shortage of honda cars is easing up and next month or so we will see normal pricing everywhere. Thoughts?

What kind of prices are you guys getting in the Chicago area? I'm looking for a EXL 4 cylinder.

    Thanks!
  • chaseboychaseboy Member Posts: 30
Why is it that some dealer sales professionals don't know what "total driveout" means? I negotiated on a vehicle all day, clear as day, asking for total driveout prices from the beginning, only in the end to reach a figure which they then want to tack the "TTL" part on to? Seriously? Am I the only one who thinks $26,000 for an EX-L, 4-cylinder Accord Coupe is way too much considering the current incentives and markup? This is a dealer in Houston by the way.
  • chaseboychaseboy Member Posts: 30
Not sure how you got a good deal from McDavid in Houston, they are quoting me $26000 for the EX-L Coupe before TTL. Going to go with another car now.
  • indydriverindydriver Member Posts: 620
Because you're not talking their lingo. Work with the language they are familiar with (and mentally calculating their commission on) and you'll get along much better. You end uo in the same place.

They are playing games with you. Don't ever visit dealership, do it by email and than folow up with a phone call. Send email to every Honda car dealer in your area of Houston and define the drive out price or final price = sale price plus sales tax of 6.25%, plus document fees ($125-200) , plus title and license which is about $175. Also they often add ad valorem tax (county property tax) which is about 50-60 bucks!

Also Texas Honda dealers add on protection pkg. for another $900 or more on all their cars. Also, AMEX Car Buying Service which guarantees all incentives will passed on doesn't work in Texas since Texas New Car Dealers Assoc. here forbids it-you have to go to them to get a quote which can be a headache!

I am told that inventory is low and that may add to higher prices (coupe is less) and with Texas TTL it should ring up to 24,750 or so, if that pkg. is not priced in. It's true cost to dealer is about less tha $250 or so!

Try Honda Cars of McKinney, it's 30 miles north of Dallas on I-75 and the internet sales manager's first name is same as our Governor's and has been easier to deal with, and charges only $129 for document fees!

I brought an Nissan Altima 3.5 SR for $6000 off MSRP last month and the Accord was my second choice. My brother needed a new Honda Accord for his kid and since I got this quote We went to Performance Honda and see if they would honor the "best deal" + extra $250 offer. Yes they did. I guess they need to move those 120 Accords that's still on the lot.

I've had my eyes on a 2011 EXL V6 for a couple weeks now. The best price I can get, out the door including all fees and taxes is $28,500. Also, there's a 4th of July promotion for 0.9 financing. Apparently, back in April some people got the car for around $26,500, which is a pretty significant difference. The dealer's say Honda changed their incentives in June and blame the turmoil in Japan. However, according to Honda, production will be back at 100% in August. Dealers also estimate that the 2012 model will be out around the holidays.

My wife and I are down to 1 car, since mine was stolen. I've gone to about 6 dealers and $28,500 out the door is the best they're willing to do. Further research suggests that right now is a terrible time to buy a car, both new and preowned. What would you guys do?

    Thanks guys!

Maybe for some brand names. Try Amex/Zag and Costco Car Buying services. If your are close to DC/MD area than Criswell or Ourisman have very good prices. End of month you can get a better deal unless the inventory is low as you indicated.

I am vacillating between 3 cars and all have pros and cons. I love Sonata and for 25k you can get Ltd. Turbo with great MPG or go for 3.5 Altima which has better than Accord's MPG. CR magazine has dropped Accord from "Above Average" to "Average. It's still a good car with solid resale!

In Fall, Camry and Altima will go thru model changes so you should be able to get a great deal on either if it's on your list!

I don't know where you live but if you're close to Ohio.

    1. Go to this dealer.

    http://jeffwylercolerainhonda.net/

    2. Look for an Honda V6 EXL that is in stock and click on the "request info" and send them your info. They only listed 2 in stock but they actually have about 15 V6 EXL The ones with MSRP of $30180.

    3. Wait for their reply. If everything goes according to plan, I got the same price for the last 2 weeks. $24,XXX ish.

    4. Go buy one from them or if they don't have the Accord you want go to next step.

    5. Click here. Sometimes you're lucky and get the $250 extra off coupon. Bring your email.

    http://hondaautoplex.com/index.htm

    or

    http://hondaautoplex.com/new-inventory/index.htm?SByear=clear&SBmake=Honda&SBmod- - - - el=Accord&SBbodystyle=clear&SBprice=clear

That's right 167 Accords in stock. Visually confirmed yesterday and purchased one so now they got 166.

    It's that easy. :)

Unfortunately, I live in NJ. You did give me the idea of possibly looking at stores in PA though...
  • ken117ken117 Member Posts: 249
In the DC/MD area, Criswell, Sport, O'Donnel, Pohanka, and Hersons have often provided the best pricing in the area. People should check the ratings for Ourisman. (Avoid DealerRater as they seem to lean toward the dealer by giving too many "false postives".) I do know Ourisman has typically attempted to apply a $700-$800 package of unwanted goodies to their selling prices. I have not found this to be a standard practice at the other dealers I mention.
  • 1sebringnow1sebringnow Member Posts: 136
I bought from OURISMAN and they did have a " $500 plus package" on the car. But I negotiated it to $100 - They also included the first oil change and the 15,000 mile service in the deal - which beat the offer from Criswell and Pohanka and Sport - straight up for the SE I purchased.

There is no reason if people are not satisfied that they can get up and walk out of any negotiation - because they have the power to do so. Since I did my negotiations over the internet - when I reached the dealership, I was there for only 40 minutes - checking over the car, signing paperwork, etc. It was without a doubt the best shopping experience I ever had. Now if I were dealing with a floor salesman - maybe it would have been different, but the Internet Manager at OURISMAN was straight up honest with me at all times. My point here is that never take a dealership off the table when it comes to your cash. $400 bucks is just that - and on my deal in an apples to apples comparison, they beat Criswell and Sport by $400 bucks - would have been $500 if they didn't have added the appearance package on the car - it does look nice by the way......

You will save though buying in the MD/VA area - in my case $1,500 over prices in CT /NY and $800 over prices in MA.
  • alookmanalookman Member Posts: 141
In Dallas, TX they add "Protection package" for $900 and will not take it off. They are over 1500 what DC/MD folks are paying!

Yesterday, I was at my Honda dealer for servicing and his lot is empty and last year in May-June it was overflowing with cars and were willing to make good deals.

Wait till Fall and with 2 major brand going thru model change and 2012 arriving, one should be able to get a good deal on most of well estbalished brand names: Accord, Altima, Camry, Sonata and Fusion.

So, I see that Honda makes Accord EX with manual transmission. But, I can not seem to locate one.

I started my search in August of 2010, looking to get in on a deal on the outgoing model year, and all I have been able to come up is Accord LX manual. I test drove it, and liked it, but I really like the EX since it has more goodies, and more powerful engine.

No dealer in my area would get one unless I signed the buyers order, and put a deposit down. How do I know I will like the vehicle without even a test drive?

So, does anyone know of a dealer that has a new 2010 or 2011 Accord EX with a manual transmission?

I realize that Accord is up for redesign next year, as a 2013 model, so, perhaps I shold wait and see if I can double dip into the savings on the outgoing model....

Ourisman resorts to various "shady" selling techniques. One is the application of a package of overpriced "goodies" on every vehicle. It is one thing to offer customers such additional "goodies". It is quite another for a dealer to simply add the "goodies" on to each vehicle and then use various tactics to make the customer believe the "goodies" must be purchased.

Last year, on my visit to Ourisman they tried to add $800 for a package of "goodies" (door guards, paint protection, scotch guard, wheel locks, etc). I am sure a savy customer can battle with Ourisman over this add-on. My question is why bother as there are many other local dealers who won't try this tactic. Sadly, I am quite sure many unsuspecting folks actually pay Ourisman an inflated amount for the Ourisman "goody" package.

The question which must be answered is why should we, as consumers, purchase a vehicle from dealers like Ourisman. Such purchases simply perpetuate the practice of shady sales techniques. We customers should reward those dealerships who do not practice such techniques.

Here is another Ourisman trick they tried on me. I decided to extracate myself from Ourisman's unpleasent sales facility (another story) by telling them they did not have the vehicle I was looking for in black. They quickly told me they could have a black vehicle on on the lot that afternoon. Of course, they told me, the black vehicle would cost an extra $1,000. Ourisman was quite speechless when I asked them to explain why I would pay them $1,000 for a black vehicle when I could go 10 miles down the road to another dealer.

In my mind, there are simply too many reasons to avoid dealers like Ourisman. There many other dealers in the area where the sales practices are not quite as shady. There are many components to any sales deal (price, trade-in value, financing, etc.). I have been purchasing Honda vehicles in the DC area for many years. I have never encountered an instance where one or more of the area's reputable dealers (Criswell, Hersons, Sport, O'Donnell) would not easily beat any deal presented by Ourisman. As a bonus, I always feel good knowing I have rewarded a reputable dealership with my business.
  • 1sebringnow1sebringnow Member Posts: 136
Wow, I am sorry to hear about your experience with OURISMAN was not a good one. Mine was quite terrific - and in my instance, they did beat Criswell and the other dealers you mentioned by over $500 bucks. You are right though about being savvy enough to deal with any dealership.

I read all of those "negative comments" about OURISMAN - but in the end, they really were cheaper and there was no flim flam - I used the internet sales manager not a floor salesman - and the experience was quite excellent.

Most importantly, I hope you are enjoying your new Honda - I know I am....

Concord Honda is offering me a 2011 Accord LX-P for $21,147 with 0.9% financing.

I had been considering a 2012 Sonata GLS with popular package (can get for $21,000 probably), but think I've got a good price on the Accord. I'm jealous of the Sonata's better MPG (24/35 vs. the Accord's 23/34 ... though Consumer Reports pegs the real life difference as 3 mpg instead).

What do you think? This is in the San Francisco Bay Area (in the East Bay).

The total "OTD" price is $23,317.67 (tax here is 8.375%, + docs fee is $55, + title, + license).

I test drove an EX - 4 door with manual 5 speed (sunroof too) at Browns Honda in Glen Burnie, Maryland (near Baltimore), just about 2 weeks ago. Not ready to purchase yet, as my lease on my present car has a couple of more months. It was silver and gray interior. Drove great, and the manual is very smooth. Look them up and give them a call, as the car may still be available.

Asking for how you did after you spent the money can have a good an bad affect on how you "feel" about the transaction. If you are happy with the car and the money you received for your trade in, leave it at that. Of course you could have done better or worse.

Every transaction is a learning experience. You have a good deal, just think in another 10 years or how ever many you are going to buy new, you'll get an even better one.

Enjoy that new Honda! I love my 2011 SE Accord - the car drives better than my 2006 EX Acoord gas mileage is finally approaching 34 MPG on the highway.

    Thanks!

I'll check it out. I drove the LX and the manual is indeed smooth, I think it is smoother than the manual I have in the CR-V. Although, the internals are all the same, except for the PTO for the AWD in the CR-V.

All these transmissions have the 6th gear spacer and can be easily converted to a 6 spd manual with as little as $200 in parts.

There is a bunch of Elements and CR-V's running around with 6 spd manuals.

Isn't it essentialy the same car? Why would you want to waste $$$$ to get the same.

At least wait until 2013 model comes out next year. Otherwise, drive your low mileage Accord and enjoy it.

I bought new Accord LX-P yesterday for $ 20300 + TTL. This price is with destination chargers.

The total OTD price I paid was $ 22467 which includes 8% IL Cook county tax, new plates, documentation fee and mudguards for $150.

There was $750 rebate to the dealers going on and I get 0.9% financing for 60 months.
I bought it from MotorWerks in Barrington IL.

I bought 2011 Honda Accord EX-L 2.4L 4-door without Navigation, yesterday, from Ourisman.

Out of the door price $26,500 (incl. tax+title+tag+processing).

Good deal... I got quoted from Browns $26.6k without tax, tags, etc for a 2011 Honda Accord EX-L 2.4L 4-door without Navigation, today. i haven't started e-mail other dealerships yet, but so far Browns says b/c of Japan's earthquake, they're low on inventory.
  • postytsxpostytsx Member Posts: 15
Even though inventory is low, you should be able to do better. Accord sales were down more than -15% in June, so dealers are eager to sell.

Sunday I was quoted $28,400 (before taxes) on a EX-L 3.5L V6 6-speed Manual w/Navigation. I ended up going with an Acura TSX instead, but it was a great deal on the Accord nonetheless -- I just liked the Acura a little better even though it was more expensive.

Because the 2012 Accords will be arriving soon, you should be able to get them down very close to their invoice price ($25,519), especially if you are taking delivery of something they have on their lot. Plus Honda is offering some crazy good rates this month on leasing (.00049) and buying (0.9% or 1.9% depending on the term).

Hi onlam, I am in Cincinnati too. Did the $24,xxx quote include the destination fee? What was your OTD price with all taxes and fees?

I emailed the same dealership today, looking for the same model with $30,180 MSRP, they won't budge below $26,252 before destination fees and TTL, with a $29,061 OTD price.

    Thanks,

July isn't March and the dynamics for Japanese manufacturers have obviously changed. There was a $1500 factory-to-dealer incentive in March so we got your exact car for $25,180 before tax and destination. $5000 off sticker was unheard of in my experience with Honda but this was the dealer's first out of the box price on an Internet quote. In addition, we got 0.9% financing so, I felt no need to haggle. The next closest was +$650, so I was satisfied. I doubt that the factory incentives are as rich now so, the dealer may be at his break point with your offer. But, if that's not good enough, wait. The #1 advantage in negotiating is time. You have it, the dealer does not.

Hi indydriver, onlam's post is from June 27th, not March.

But yeah, I am in no hurry, having a car with cold AC, lowish miles (for a Honda - 87k miles) and in great condition.
