I paid $175 including dealer installation, which was plenty. The dealer said the list price was $259. I got the lower price by going to the Honda web site and "building" a CR-V. The price listed under accessories was $175. The dealer swallowed hard, but honored it. I just looked it up now and the price is listed at $234. Not great, but a lot better than $695.
If you're willing to install them yourself, $167 I think is the price from some Honda website parts suppliers. Good luck.
So this AM I ordered moldings from H and A for $171.60 plus shipping, and some touch up paint as babies r' us is in the foreseeable future. It looks like the moldings will cover up the ding, hopefully.
Honda really should include moldings on the car, especially considering the "urban warfare" plastic on the rocker panels and bumpers. but, for the prices my dealer was asking, they make $$ on the accessories.
Roof Rack-$367
Trailer Hitch, received & harness-$784
Moonroof visor-$200
All season mats-$154
Cargo Tray-$119
Auto/Day night mirror-$502
Fog Lights -$805
Remote Start-$809
My hubby is not handy - so I think the only things we can handle ourselves are the cargo tray and the mats. Any thoughts on this pricing?
Thanks!
That being said, do the mats and cargo liner yourself.
I had trailer hitch and wiring harness installed at a local truck/trailer shop for about $250.
The auto dim mirror installation is very complex - leave it to the dealer unless you're very accomplished removing interior parts and pieces.
Foglights were installed by dealer as part of purchase, so don't know exact cost.
Don't know about remote start installation.
Suggest you look at HandAAccessories web site and download pdfs for installation instructions for things you are interested in.
Everything is possible. There are electronic modules out there that allow you to do that. The cheapest way is to solder a photo sensor and relay kit together. most electronics stores have those kits for $5-$8. Then wire the kit in parallel with the headlight switch, and if you want to, you can solder a timer kit as well, so that the headlights stay on for 1-5 minutes after you shut off the engine. The timer kit is about another $5-$8.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
I'm buying a new CR-V next week - my first new Honda purchase ever.
I was going through the Honda accessories list and hoping to buy some of them with the purchase so they can be covered under warranty. Trying to understand how I can get the best deal on these. Here are a few questions I have.
- Do they normally charge MSRP for the accessory itself or can you easily get a discount off MSRP
- How do you prevent getting hammered on installation by Honda? Would the dealer have a standard price list for installation?
- If I buy accessories from people outside of Honda (e.g., online) or have them installed by third-parties, does this harm my coverage under Honda warranty?
- How do you make sure the body shop will do a good job putting in the Honda accessories? How can you find out how experienced they are?
Thanks for your help!
Can anyone recommend a body shop skilled in New Jersey skilled at installing Honda accessories? Thanks!
George
Thanks
I looked at the instructions for the 1997/2000 and I probably wouldn't have tried it. I'm not much for cutting into the sheet metal although the instructions were pretty good and Honda furnishes good instructions with their parts. I'm sorry I misled you. This old memory is worse than I thought.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and is there anything that can be done? I honestly only need the rails for when we go on vacation and need to put the roof carrier on, but I'd hate to have to keep taking the rails on/off each time. Plus, the rails look awesome on the dark cherry red CRV!!! I also worry that repeated installing and uninstalling will both strip the bolt heads and cause the rails to be less secure over time.
Thoughts?
I am not familiar with the CR-V roof rack, but on other systems, moving the crossbars either forward or backwards can help with the noise.
Hope that helps.
Thanks,
Charley
Try to reverse it, the front should face the back, and see the result.

Checking to see if anyone has installed a Honda branded remote starter?
Reviewing the Honda written installation instructions, this definitely does not seem like a DIY project: http://www.handa-accessories.com/crvelect07.html
However I am also nervous about the dealer technician tampering with a brand new vehicle. Sometimes the technicians at the dealerships are no more qualified than the guy working at Jiffy Lube. I wish Honda would offer this as a factory installed option.
Any feedback on installation or performance of this remote starter would be appreciated. Thanks!
