Did you recently rush to buy a new vehicle before tariff-related price hikes? A reporter is looking to speak with shoppers who felt pressure to act quickly due to expected cost increases; please reach out to PR@Edmunds.com for more details by 4/24.
Thanks for the info. Also, I posted a question on the other thread, but no replies so far - would u by any chance know where the second cabin filter is on the 05 CR-V?
If nothing has changed for the 2005 model, they should be in the same openning, side by side.
Thanks. You're right, I found it by accident. BTW, the Manual recommends cleaning at 15K and replacing at 30K, but I'd advise everyone to check those early on, I replaced mine (16K), looked pretty nasty. And very cheap from H&A, 19.00 for both... No way dealer gets $ 67.50 :shades:
I did take the obvious step of reading the owners manual, and it doesn't open no matter how long I hold the button down.
Thanks for the helpful response.
Then it is not for your model year. Not all remotes will work with the early models. "The other site" sells remotes specific to 1997-1998 and 1999-2001 CR-V's.
Thanks Varmint . The dealer parts guy toll me that when he checks the computer for arm rest / manual trans. no part # comes up. Do you know what's involved in getting one installed?
Unfortunately, no. I'm not 100% familiar with the process.
If I had to guess, I'd say that the automatic models come with a bracket built into the side of the seat (under the upholstery). This is what the armrest is bolted to. Plug and play.
I'm searching memories from several years back, so I may be way off base, but I think the manual models did not have that bracket. So, you'd have get the bracket, install that, then install the armrest over it.
I had a 1999 model vehicle and units from that generation did have the bracket regardless of the tranny.
I have finally heard back from my insurance company (took them 23 days, never trust a lizard offering "free pie and chips") whom were told by my Honda Dealership that my "Flamming CRV" is repairable. They have sent me a check for close to $5000 for the repair. It's also my understanding that I will be held responsable for the $500.00 deductable. Honestly, I am afraid to drive the CRV again. It is not normal for a car to burst into flames while your driving it. I have also been told that it is impossable to remove the smoke smell from the cabin area. Additionally I am sure that my CRV will suffer tremendous depreciation as a result of this. My questions are: 1) Do I have any recoarse(s)? 2) Any recommendations? 3) should I get a lawyer, as I believe my vehicle is unsafe? Just incase there are any background questions, the fire occured May 20, 2006, It's a 2005 Honda CRV LX 2WD (17,900miles)that I bought new in December 2004, The last oil change was performed 25 days before the fire.
I picked up a 2006 2WD EX earlier this week. I Love it!! ...but there are some additional accessories that I want to buy. I had originally included most of them in the purchase agreement, but then I realized that the mark-up was significant and really there isn't any labor involved for installing some accessories. Really, how much labor can be involved in opening the box for the cargo tray, right? So, I changed the list of accessories on the purchase document...leaving those which would require some real installation time...and figuring I would buy the others on-line.
I've checked out HandA-accessories and Bernardi accessories (through the Bernardi website). As an aside, I bought my car at Bernardi, and I would still have paid significantly more buying the accessories from their sales department than I will if I buy them on-line...and I will pay a higher price if I pick them up at Bernardi rather than having them shipped. But back to my question...
I am looking for the following:
door edge guards (in the silver moss metallic which is the color of my car) cargo tray cargo cover cargo net all season floor mats ...and maybe the hard cover for the back tire.
Can anyone recommend another website or two for comparison shopping on these items? I did find a few other websites but none which carried all of these accessorie. Also, if I do opt for the hard cover for the back tire, is my only choice the black cover with the embossed CR-V on it or does Honda make a hard cover which matches the color of the car like the one which comes with the SE?
I really want to get these items ordered...and in my cars, so thanks in advance to anyone who can help me with this!!
I remember I had to buy a painted spare tire cover when mine was stolen (Gen 1), the MSRP on that was over $500, and I paid $375 through Fair Honda at http://www.fairhondapartsforyou.com you can call them up at 203-730-5703 and ask for John in parts to help you. They can only sell the Silver moss painted cover if SE comes in Silver moss, as it will just be an SE part.
I bought the cargo cover from Classifieds" on the "other site" for a little $100, shipped. It was brand new.
Bought the roof rack there as well for $80 shipped.
Bought self dimming mirror from an Oldsmobile Bravada for $30 at a junk yard.
Front Mud flaps from Fair Honda for $40.
OEM Subwoofer from Classifieds on "the other site" for $180.
Bought an RSX wiper stalk from a Junk yard for $30 to get Variable Intermittent wipers.
I just bought a used '04 CR-V, and in browsing posts here I came across the discussion on a Variable Intermittent wiper mod.
I'd like to do this, but all I can find are a few posts. Can anyone tell me where I can find instructions?
I know I have to get a RSX wiper stalk. Will others work? How does it go together & wire in?
Thanks,
Stan
I can't post a link to the site where the procedure is described in detail because it is a forum and TOC prevent me from doing so, but if you search for a web site dedicated to Honda SUV you shall find it.
Just bought a 2006 CR-V SE yesterday and would like to treat the leather seats and other elements of the interior with some kind of protectant. Anyone have experience with a spray or other product that will give a new interior some decent protection?
I really like www.HandAaccessories.com. I've ordered quite a few things from them, and never had a problem. www.partscheap.com also has great prices (often a few dollars lower than HandA). I've only ordered from them once, and was very pleased.
I bought the driver side arm rest for 2000ex stick from jjproducts. It came with a bracket to connected to the seat rail with a u bolt. The u bolt would slip until I hit it with the welder in a couple of spots. Got 6 years of no trouble use.
I recently bought a 2006 CRV EX in Silver Moss Metallic. I am looking for a hard spare tire cover...and would prefer one which matches the color of my car. The only one I can find is the black hard spare tire cover which has CRV embossed on it. When I was first looking on-line I remember stumbling on one...but for the life of me I can't find it now. Can anyone help? :confuse:

If the SE model comes in your color, you can get the replacement cover from the dealer, but be aware that it retails for almost $500.
For about $30, buy a spray can of primer, clear coat, and the color paint you're after. Color codes may be found on your door jamb. Paint can be had from many internet sources. I used paintscratch.com years ago. For a tire cover, I recommend getting the paint with the optional plastic additive, which allows the paint to flex a bit.
I did this for my 1999 CR-V many years ago. The color match was perfect, though something about the gloss wasn't perfect. You had to give it a very close inspection to see the difference, though.
I believe you can find one on www.drivah.com. It's the paint job that really hikes up the cost. It will probably cost you around $400. Personally, I would just go with the cheaper black one.
I was behind a 2006 CRV today and noticed that it too has the word "HONDA" (on the spare tire cover) slightly tilted to the right.
I've noticed the same thing with the CRV of alll years. Is the "tilt" deliberate (mine has it too) or is this just a measurement flaw from the beginning?
I thought buying a hard cover out of Canada might be cheaper. It was not and I did not.
I really wish this thread hadn't come up weeks ago - every time I see a CR-V now I have to check the angle of the tire cover. Next you guys will have me counting telephone polls as I cruise down the road. :P
Then, I got a flat tire, and the zipper pull broke from the salt/grime corrosion (the zipper is on the bottom). My tire guy got the cover put back on... assuming he used pliers to grab what was left of the zipper pull, to get it zipped..
But, now.... crooked by about 15-20 degrees.... Too much work with that zipper (and afraid it will break completely), to try to adjust it...
Four years, perfectly straight until this... But, don't worry about me.. I'll be okay..
Does it matter if I replace my steel wheels on my 05 CRV with an alloy wheel from am Acura Integra ( same size, bolt pattern and offset? Are wheels made for sedans not compatible for SUV in this case a car based Honda CRV?
Actually it was off an '04 Acura RSX. I can never get a straight answer on what the offset is on the CRV. Dealer don't know, Honda gave a range of 35-45. One posting on this thread had it at +50 The constant answer I get is +40. The Acura is +45. So maybe a 5mm differenece won't hurt?
I just purchased a 2006 CRV. I love the vehicle, but the radio antenna is ridiculous (unscrew it to go through the car wash???!!!). Does anyone know of an after market replacement that will screw into the existing base? I saw a Euro 13" rubber one on the AntennaX.com website, but the description states it is only for models through 2004.
If you can't get a straight answer, you'll never know, until you try them on your CR-V...
I know that doesn't really help... I've been in the same situation... No one seems to know the actual offsets... I know that Honda Pilot wheels will fit... I wouldn't bet on the Acura wheels, unless you can try them first..
I love the vehicle, but the radio antenna is ridiculous (unscrew it to go through the car wash???!!!).
Who says the antenna has to be removed to go through a car wash? Not Honda. At least in the owner's manual I've read. Curious if they have changed it. Doubt it though.
I know I saw that somewhere in the material that came with my 2006 -- I asked my salesman about it, though, and he showed me how flexible the antenna is and said to just leave it on (I had tried to see if I could unscrew it and had gotten nowhere!).
Have had a new SE with the hard cover for just a few weeks now, but I've also noticed the HONDA logo slowly spinning around. I took an old rag the other day, folded it, and placed it on the top of the spare, under the cover. I'm hoping this will make the cover fit a little tighter on the spare and stop the rotation. We'll see...
Yes, it does say in my manual (2006) to remove the antenna before going through a car wash. I prefer to use touchless car washes, though, now that I have a black vehicle.
When I removed the hard spare cover to check if the spare would fit under the table in back the top of the wheel had a strip of foam packing material on the wheel that seems to keep the cover from turning. I had the CRV for 4 month now and the spare cover hasn't turned at all. Looking at the spy shots for the 2007 this won't matter as none of the pictures contain a spare on the back. Blueeyedgod and varmint had said that the 2007 won't have a full size spare. My guess is that they put it under the table.

So, leave it on, and when it breaks (never) then you buy the replacement.
I noticed that H and A offer a wood grain kit for the CRV. From the pictures on the website, it looks pretty good and I'm thinking about purchasing it for our 06 SE. I wanted to see if anyone has purchased this kit, how it looks, and if it was easy to install. I really want it to look factory, and NOT like an add-on. I downloaded the installation instructions and it appears to go right over the existing fascia plates.
I like mine a lot - looks really nice with the ivory interior. I know it's plastic (probably cheap), but looks quite nice and definitely much better than the stock plastic (probably even cheaper). My 01 Galant came with similar kit standard and I knew I wanted it on the CR-V too. Mine was done by the dealer, did a pretty good job.
I also put this in my 06 SE save the $ and put it in your self. It will take longer to drive to the dealership than it will for you to put it in. The only 2 pieces that are difacult to put in correctly are the one around the AC controls and the one around the radio.
Thanks for the info. I ordered the wood grain kit today from H and A. Their price was $141 plus $7 shipping. The dealer wanted $199 for the kit and $66 to install. I'm taking your advice and am going to install myself. Should really dress up the interior of the car.
Visor makes it a MUCH quieter ride. Otherwise you get a significant beat or buffeting effect and won't enjoy driving with the sunroof fully open. Bought one through Amazon.com for $65. Easy install.
Installation instructions say if the mask gets wet to remove it and allow it to dry. This might sound dumb as dirt, but does this mean I can't go through the car wash without taking it off? . . . and please don't tell me I have to take it off every time it rains! Also, installation looks like it might be difficult to install -- is this a DIY job or should I have someone else install it :confuse: ?

Does anyone have any ideas? I would greatly appreciate some help.
A. Get the Owner's manual
B. Hold the hatch button for 5 seconds, it should open.

Are you sure the offset is the same? If so, go for it.. a nice upgrade..
One other caveat... You'll have to get new tires.. even if the wheels are the same size, the tires won't be...

Looks really cool and juzz up the interior.
$80 for a used OEM, installation is 8 bolts, easy DIY.
