TCH - Desert sand, NAV (and all the other junk that comes with it, leather, heated seats, sun roof, etc.) - Will probably purchase for $300 over invoice. Picked a car with option set I wanted and broadcast it to all Houston dealers. The bids ranged from full MSRP (We aren't allowed to discount the hybrids) to about $500 over invoice. I re-sent the lowest bid to all the dealers, and, Voila!, the NO-HASSLE FIXED PRICE offers started to come down! Ended up calling the closest dealer and told him if he could beat the last deal, I'd like to buy locally and use him for the service. That did the trick. I'm getting one out of the pipeline, so that none of the pure profit junk I didn't want (paint sealant, undercoating, VIP care (whatever that is) don't get added. Should be here in about a week.

How much was it? I went to the dealer, they are syaing that XLE v6 with nav MSRP 31579, invoice is 28391. Edmund.cin is showing 27935.

    What are you getting?

Re: Differences between Edmunds & Toyota dealer's invoice

Toyota dealers uniformly add an advertising fee to the invoice of each vehicle. It is the cost they pay for all those Toyota commercials, spread out over each vehicle. It varies by region.

I got the detailed invoice from the dealer, and everything exactly matched Edmunds item list, except this one item (I belive it was TDA) Dealer explained it was actually paid, and wouldn't budge over it.

    Hope this helps...

    Hi,
I am planning to buy a Camry 07 SE, Sedan V4 from North CA.
I just started getting quotes as 22,900 excluding Tax and DMV.
Does anyone know better quotes around Bay Area,CA
    Please advice

    Thanks

So this dealer is saying the cost is 28335 and edmunds is saying the cost is 27935. THis is a 400 spread....can it be that much?

Just put $500 refundable deposit at a price of 27,250 with floor mats thrown in. Fully loaded...leather, gps, heated mirrors, sound system, sun roof the whole deal. Good price for a Silver TCH? They said it was way below invoice and they were just moving the car and doing me a favor since my parents had bought three cars there in the past.
  • voodoo99voodoo99 Member Posts: 8
Hello kosmos2, sounds like you snagged a good fair deal on your TCH. What part of the country are you in and can you name the dealer. Enjoy
  • kosmos2kosmos2 Member Posts: 5
Hey voodoo99, yeah I'm looking at prices and it seems that I've done well. I'm in Massachusetts. I purchased the car from Toyota of Watertown.

What exactly is Toyoguard? Is is something that is only sold on the East Coast? I haven't really heard about it on the West Coast.

...What exactly is Toyoguard? Is is something that is only sold on the East Coast?...

I'm sure Barnum would agree that there are just as many of them born each minute on the west coast as on the east coast. :D

I got a quote from a Dallas dealership that is offering a Camry LE with 100k mile warranty, vehicle shield package, pinstripe, tinted windows, and carpet mats for $21,350 out the door. Do you all think that this is a good deal?
  • olddog7olddog7 Member Posts: 23
That's sounds like a pretty good price to me, if this includes tax and registration for the car. I dont know what your base price is for the car however. I paid 17,988 for the LE, then I bought the 100k warranty from a dealership in Kansas for $854. I didnt get the other items you mentioned, so I dont know what they go for. I am interested in a vehicle shield package, but not at the price the dealership quoted me.

Kosmos, could you give me the mrsp for that car? I tried to get a fully loaded tch (sounds similar) for Invoice-$500. Dealer seemed like they really wanted to do the deal but this was just too low.
  • voodoo99voodoo99 Member Posts: 8
Hello kannikanwo, Also looking for a TCH fully loaded. Perhaps we can buy two and get a better deal? Contact me a voodoo99@carspace.com Regards.
  • kosmos2kosmos2 Member Posts: 5
Hey Kannikanwo...I purchased the car already and I'm picking it up tonight. From what I've heard and others I have met who have purchased the car including being a little nosy and asking people how much they paid, it looks like I got quite a good deal. The MSRP was about $30,800 give or take about $100. There are 5 different pre-made models for the TCH and this is the 4th level one...basically the fully loaded one that is not the 50th anniversary edition. I got a price of $27,250. This does not include other charges or taxes as some people thought it may (if this included taxes I'd probably set a record for the lowest price ever paid for a TCH by a customer that doesn't have any family connections to the dealership or Toyota). For Watertown they have a reasonable paperwork fee of $200...which still angers me but everywhere else I went it was about $300-400. It used to be $100 at this place I guess. Then I had no other fees except getting new plates for $86 and taxes. There are a few reasons my price was so low and why they were able to go below the invoice. First of all they weren't going as far below invoice as it may seem because I just graduated which entitled me to a $400 discount so long as I financed the purchase through Toyota (only a good deal if you plan on paying it off right away otherwise I'd probably lease it). There's also a $500 veterans discount if anyone happens to be a veteran who is reading this. So the $400 is given by the Toyota financing so I think the dealership gets that money back. The price was also pretty low because I went in with no preferences. I said I didn't care about color and got a quote from two places then submitted the quote on the internet and said who can beat this and finally I got it down to $27,250, but also keep in mind that my parents have purchased three cars at this dealership. I took a hard line and threatened to walk out if they didn't go $200 lower than the last place since my parents had bought cars from them and they were wasting my time if they were only going to beat the price by $5 dollars (literally) because the other guy was so nice and honest and spent a lot of time with me and so they would have to make it worth my while. We settled on $150 off and two free sets of floormats lol. I ended up with silver which is...ehhh...because my family is like the silver car mafia but I ended up with a great deal. One thing to be aware of...this car doesn't include an alarm and it's expensive to put in...but here's the thing...if someone were to break into your car, they can't steal the TCH because there's no key and so they would have to hotwire it which would cause the engine to automatically shut off. The only way they could steal the car is if they had the electronic signature from the key. If they had the proper equipment they could actually sniff your key with a laptop or other device and steal your car (so far this has not been a problem)...so unless you plan on keeping valuables in your car, there's really no other reason to go for the alarm. Especially at an msrp of $795 when you include the installation. I was sort of misled into thinking the alarm was included so I guess I went on that tangent to give a heads up but also explain why you really don't need it no matter how much they try to scare you.
    Cheers!

    Hey Kosmos2,
Is there any way you can itemise your purchase. Seems like a great deal and I am hoping that I can get it too but am not a veteran. What interest rate was given by Toyota? Thanks
  • devy1devy1 Member Posts: 14
    Hey Voodoo99
For a loaded level 4 TCH, make it a deal for 3 and count me in too. I am in NJ FYI. Thanks

Voodoo and Devy, I am in the Bay Area, CA. Unless you are here, I would think it would be hard to do a group buy. Let me know if you are also in the Bay Area. If so, let's get in touch and buy together.
  • kannikanwokannikanwo Member Posts: 19
Kosmos, thank you for the detailed breakdown. You certainly got a great deal with all the special discounts. However, for us average folks, is it fair to say that your price was $27,250+$500(veteran discount)+$400(college financing rebate)+200(doc fees)=$28,350. This compares to an invoice price of about $28,000 for that car.

Voodoo is now out of the buying picture as he just bought a TCH 50th Anniversary Edition. Most likely paid too much but here are the numbers. List was suppose to be 29316 and I paid 30,500 out the door (plus taxes that will be paid in another state) The 30,500 included the TAD of some $600.
    How did I do?
  • kosmos2kosmos2 Member Posts: 5
well if you already bought the car, I wouldn't worry about it too much...go and enjoy it...but you probably could have done better...I really like that 50th anniversary edition tho...they put a lot of style into it and that pearl white color (blizzard white) is killer and the rims, etc... enjoy!
  • kannikanwokannikanwo Member Posts: 19
No worries. Congrats on the buy!

Looking to buy a Camry LE in the Washington DC area. Has anyone had any luck getting a LE around 18k? Thanks!!!
  • amshereamshere Member Posts: 19
Call springfield Toyota. They were ready to negotiate with me when I said that I know someone who got it for under 18K.I eventually changed my mind on getting one this month. I am alternating between a camry and accord. Accord has a better APR than camry. What quotes have you got?

do you guys think i will lose a lot of money if i trade-in recently purchased civic for 2007 Carmy LE or higher carmy trim? i have changed my mind to get a carmy after buying the Honda Civic.
  • wvgasguywvgasguy Member Posts: 1,405
You always lose money trading. Especially a newer car. The dealer would be crazy to give you anywhere near invoice for the car so unless you got a really great deal on the purchase you can expect a big hit on depreciation. Depending on where you live if you don't pay taxes on just the trade difference you'll be giving the government some extra too.

    Hello,
I am considering a pre-owned Camry 2003 or 2004 Camry LE, I am trying to understand what is the difference between the V6 and 4 cycl cars, I mean I have heard that V6 is high on gas, now is that significantly high or just 10-15 %.
Also I would like your opinion on reliability or maintenance issue between the two.
    Thanks in advance.

    2 questions

    1) I live in Orange County (CA), does anyone have recommendations on toyota dealers in the area? (I'm looking to purchase a '07 $18K camry LE)
    2) When do you think the '08 models be out? I'm hoping to get the best deal for '07 model when '08 models go on sale.

    Thanks in advance

Go to LA. I bought my LE at Power Toyota in Cerritos. Ask for Spall(he's a salesman there). I got the run around and bait and switch at Capistrano(nice showroom but they wouldnt deal at all and actually changed the deal I had made once it was on paper). Tell Spall that a lady from San Diego sent you. Donot buy any of the add ons there(or at least get them to come down considerably). I paid 17,988 for my LE. Most of the dealerships in LA are around that price, get Fridays papers(like the LA times) and carry it around with you, and tell them to match the price.

Effort including internet search w/TMV lookup : 30 minutes
Actual time spending wheeling and dealing : 4 minutes

2007 LE Auto with Moonroof,Mats in Blue ribbon - i was very particular about the color and moonroof.
    Msrp : 22734
    Invoice : 20565
    Sale price : 19700
    Doc fee : 298
    plate transfer : 50
5% tax - Ma i know this is different for states but
    otd came 21033 .
TMV according to Edmunds is 21263

I think i got a good deal especially when i spend 34 minutes of effort and 20 minute test ride. The car is coming to the dealership in 3 day and i have to pick it up.

Hello. Just wanted to post a deal I have got on a 2007 Hybrid. I think it is a fair deal. What do you think?

    Hybrid
    White
    SE Toyota distribution Plus $44
    Moonroof $752 invoice
    Gas 18.32
Dealer installed Leather that looks identical and actually feels better than the factory $1100
    Mats $169
    Tint $299
    Fuel surcharge 15.53
    SE Toyota Administrative Fee $721
    Delivry Fee $675
    Total
    27373.05

Sell Price which gives the dealer some profit
    27804.84

    Dealer Doc Fees $348
3% tax for North Carolina $834.15

    Total $29065.04 out the door

Granted i know that the dealer is getting some profit on the leather and also the mats and tint.

Also Toyota finance has a $500 rebate if you finance at least 7500. I plan on doing the finace then paying it off the first month.

Overall i think it is a good deal. What do you think?

Thank you. Have a great day

    $865 under invoice??
  • kannikanwokannikanwo Member Posts: 19
Dear all, was at a dealer in the Bay Area and negotiated to $27K ($664 under invoice) on a fully loaded TCH (with MRSP about $31K). Seems like there are some dealers that will do below invoice now and I suspect that is because it is getting towards the end of 2007 model year. I did not go for the deal yet because I am on vacation shortly for the next couple of weeks. I am wondering if I should have.

    Regards
  • beantownbeantown Member Posts: 228
If that is the car you want....you'd be crazy not to jump on a deal that's $664 under invoice for a TCH. With gas prices going up, you just can't expect to do better than that as the days and weeks pass. It's not like the 2008 TCH's are all of a sudden going to have lots of goodies that the 2007s won't have.

    Thanks

Hello, if I'm understanding your deal properly, you paid $431 over MSRP for your car??? Which includes profit padding from the dealer installed options??? Well, since you asked, I would have to say, sir, that for my area (DC) that would not be a very good deal. I can very, very easily get the top of the line TCH (not the anniversary one, but one which MSRPs for $30,929) for a few hundred over invoice. Maybe for the area you live in, what you paid is a good deal, but that would be a not-so-good deal here. I'm sorry to rain on your parade, but that's what I think. I guess if you are in love with your car, that's pretty much all that matters, so I say "enjoy."
  • kannikanwokannikanwo Member Posts: 19
Peggy, I used the Autowest Toyota in Hayward. I would call them up and ask for the Internet Manager. By the rules I cannot give you the salesperson's name but he said that the dealership has a policy of matching best prices. I used the best price from craigslist.org as a reference. I hope that helps.

Thanks a bunch, I will look them up. Now I just have to sell my car!!!

Just an aside, I did not know that craigslist had NEW cars on it. Wow. Will have to look there too.
    Thanks again

Checking on KBB again with the items i got on the car adding 430 for profit and 348 for doc fees and 834 tax to KBB MSRP would make a MSRP of 31118. Counting off the 500 i got for financing part of it with SE toyota finance makes my out the door price 28565 so that is roughly 2,600 under MSRP. Please check your numbers again. Thank you. Bob

Yes , as i said the dealer was very good and i talked to the saler manager for about less than 5 minutes.i offered him 19970 and he said he will beat it by 370$.the salesman was a pleasure to deal with and gave some awesome pointer on local motorcycle roads and hangouts[i am new here].

Hello, all. Long-time viewer, first-time poster.
I am interested in a Toyota Camry LE, automatic with just the floor mats. I'm looking between 7 dealerships. I was able to nab an invoice from one of them. Here is what it says:

    Feature DLR/MSRP
    Mfg Base Prices 18143.00/20975.00
    Total Factory Options 0.00/0.00
    total Port options 165.12/199.00
    Delivery/Processing/Handling 675.00/675.00
    T.M.F. 589.00/0.00
    T.A.F. 0.00/0.00
    2% Holdback MSRP 419.00/0.00
    PIO Holdback 14.00/0.00
    Dealer Added Options 0.00/0.00
    Fleet Price Protection 0.00/0.00
    1% Finance Reserve 209.00/0.00
    Fleet Credit 0.00/0.00

    Pricing Totals 20214.12/21849.00

Most of the dealerships I've looked at will set the car price at $19,999, for an out-the-door price of around $22k. The tax here in New Orleans is huge (9%), as are the surrounding areas (8.75%). I'm looking at trying to get the Holdback, ad fees (T.M.F. and T.A.F.), and Finance Reserve taken off. What do you all feel would be my best areas of negotiating leverage?
  • watercop1watercop1 Member Posts: 18
Traded a 2006 Civic EX coupe w/ 23K miles for $14,500 [owed 12.7K] (loved the car - was too small). Got a Camry LE, auto, moonroof, alloys, rear lip spoiler and mats for $21,500 at Lakeview Toyota in Metairie. No hassles and I didn't shop or grind for a deal. I live in Covington but all of Northshore Toyota cars were "packed" with these crazy extra-miles things (splash guards, door trim, cargo nets with wax and scotchguard for 1K!). I'm sure that there are better deals for the grinders but I was happy and it was painless. If one can afford a 36-month note - 0% is awesome.

LOL, yeah the great deals on financing are for those that don't really need it in the first place. Go figure.

About the only negotiating lever you are going to have over the 19,999 price is when the 2008's come out, as the 2007's will be leftovers then.

    Good luck
