The price I quoted includes destination, but is pre-tax, pre-TTL.

When the 08s hit the lot, they will be going for MSRP, maybe higher (if the price of oil, and therefore, gas keeps going up). And I doubt whether there will be many deals on the 07s. These cars are simply hot right now.
  • talmy1talmy1 Member Posts: 55
Locally (Portland, OR area) there are a few loaded 2007 TCHs on the lots but no basic models (I don't want NAV, leather, or even the moonroof -- I'm tall). Seems to be the opposite of what I've read of people's experiences on this site.

Anyway, I've reserved a basic Barcelona Red 2008 TCH, due at the end of August (if the earthquake doesn't delay it). Still in time to get at least some Federal tax credit. They don't have the pricing yet, but it will be a little below 2008 MSRP.

Got an offer of $28,600 (not including TTL) for a loaded TCH, with the NAV, moonroof, leather (but not the 50th anniversary). MSRP is $30,900 or so, invoice is $27,500. How is this deal?
  • kosmos2kosmos2 Member Posts: 5
I got mine for $27,300 before taxes with the same options. I got lucky because they said they were trying to keep the cars moving. Also had a recent college graduate discount. If you are a veteran they also offer a discount....but it's getting further into the summer and soon the 2008 models will be coming out...whoever is selling you that car is trying to hold onto whatever they can get before they have to start giving out great deals to make way for the 2008 models. Tell them you want a good deal or go somewhere else. And make sure to submit what you're looking for on the internet. It will get lots of local dealers to contact you with offers and since it's an internet offer, they know that you will be talking to lots of other people. You're bound to get a good deal out of that. Also...go in with no preferences (other than you want the fully loaded prebuilt model that comes with leather, NAV, etc...all these things come prebuilt...don't let them tell you otherwise...things that aren't prebuilt are things like the security system, cameras for backing up and the sensor when you back up). The more preferences you have, the worse off you are for a bargaining situation....pretend like you really haven't calculated out the costs and it seems a bit pricey for you but that's what you really want...I didn't have a preference on car color (one of the biggest things they get you on) and so I ended up with silver...which I hated because my family is like the silver car mafia...but it's grown on me and I love my car

    hope this helps
    :D
  • jaa37jaa37jaa37jaa37 Member Posts: 30
Wow. Where did you get that deal? Seems pretty good.
I have yet to find a dealer to match the price I got, believe it or not, but I've only spoken to three or four places. A lot of the ealers out here don't have any TCHs to sell right now -- not sure if that's a bad sign or not.
  • quixotic1quixotic1 Member Posts: 23
You will be able to buy at invoice if you play dealer against dealer without giving specific names but referring to internet competitors. I was able to buy my TCH 50th Anniversary at cost so it should be easier for you. Also, wait until the end of the month (last couple of days).

    Good luck!

Price of Camry-Hybrid-2008 is reduced by $1,000.

Meanwhile Prius sales are increasing rapidly that now its in Top-10 slot. If more people come to know of it, it may even hit Top-5.
  • jjyangjjyang Member Posts: 42
Mind listing your source for these info? I would have expected the 08 camry MSRP to go up just slightly instead of down. 2008 Highlander hybrid prices are higher than the '07. Is that because changes were made to the highlander warranting the price hike? Thanks.
  • talmy1talmy1 Member Posts: 55
The source is Toyota -- they just had a press release today.

The base price is down $1000 because they have reduced the standard equipment to the LE level (steel wheels, no: leather wrapped steering wheel, dimming mirror w. compass, CD changer, bluetooth, garage-door opener, net in trunk, like is in the XLE).

Personally, this is fine with me (I've got a 2008 base on order) as I'd rather have the $1000. None of these are deal breakers, and we were considering an base LE before going for the Hybrid.
  • jjyangjjyang Member Posts: 42
Thanks. I just found several post citing the same newswire. Here it is for all:

    http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=104&STORY=/www/story/07-20-200- 7/0004629672&EDATE=

Read'em and weep (or rejoice) for those who just got their '07.

I am mildly rejoicing cause I paid less than sticker price. The bluetooth and cd changer is nice and the alloy wheel looks stellar. Never had any of these amenities before, so it feels good to finally be pampered. The JBL audio doesn't do much for me.

What type of financing rates are you getting on Camrys now?
  • jhs70jhs70 Member Posts: 213
I live in the MD/DC/VA area. I received notification from a dealer of a $1,500 "Dealer Cash" incentive released for the month of July. I can find no confirmation of that anywhere. Edmunds lists a $200 dealer marketing incentive and that's it. Anyone know anything about this???

In the market for a new Toyota? BEWARE of Jim Coleman Toyota in Bethesda, Maryland. Recently I had a horrendous experience there. The long and the short of it is that they jerked me around on my trade-in by outright lying about its condition. And it wasn’t a “minor” lie that they tried to propagate. All of this was done to lowball my trade, I am sure. Why they couldn’t come out and tell me they would only offer X for it, and leave it at that, I don’t know. No, they took it one step further and manufactured a lie, a lie which took me the better part of a day to resolve, and in the process greatly upsetting my wife and I.
These people are scum for doing that. I just wanted you to know.
Avoid Jim Coleman Toyota of Bethesda, Maryland.
  • mfletou1mfletou1 Member Posts: 508
on the TCH deletes. I think those options are easily worth the $1k in today's market. Its part of what makes my TCH such an enjoyable car. I can understand why they did it though.

Sorry to hear about Jim Coleman. I'm telling you--if you live even close to the DC Metro area: GO TO FITZGERALD!

It gets repeated over and over on these boards for those of us in the Mid-Atlantic for a reason. www.fitzmall.com

You can go get their best price right now and they aren't going to jerk you around on anything.

So I went by my local Toyota dealer the other day to check out a new Titanium Metallic TCH. And while I was driving it I noticed that it had 580 miles on it and yet they were still selling it as a new car!! So obviously this car is being driven around by other salesmen to run errands and everything and is not actually a new car but a demo car. How can I negotiate with them in order to get the price down? Should I argue that it has the mileage of a used car and should be priced below invoice? Because 580 miles is a lot of mileage for a new car as far as I know. Any advice would be appreciated. thanks

    obwon0213,

I agree that looks like a good lease deal...What was the list price of the car. Do you know what residual rate they used? I am suprised at the lease rate you had listed. Thats better than the financing rate they will do on Camrys. It equates to 3.19%. When did you do this and what state/dealer did you use?
    thanks
  • nbxnbx Member Posts: 28
I see from KBB new car pricing that SET dealers (170 dealers in 5 southern states) seem to pay much more for certain Toyota vehicles such as the V-6 Camry LE or the new 5.7L Tundra pickup. And, per KBB there are endless high priced (high profit?) options exclusive to the dealers in the 5 SET states. Never in all my years of buying domestic cars and suvs have I seen anything like this. What gives? Is SET wagging Toyota or what? Did the late Jim Moran have something exclusive that Toyota cannot break? Or is Toyota all for the SET arrangement?

The 170 SET dealers do seem to have very nice facilities, very good dealer websites, plenty of inventory, easy dealer transfer of inventory, good financing rates, etc. SET is obviously a Grade A umbrella organization viewed from the street.

So what is the inside scoop on the SET set up?
  • obwon0213obwon0213 Member Posts: 3
    Hi cpa3,

The list price was $24,359 (their cost 21,542). I will look through the paperwork tonight for the residual rate and get back to you (at work now). But you are right, it was better than the financing rate and that's why I went with the lease (that and I live/work in the same town). I completed the deal on July 5th. The dealer was Boch Toyota of Norwood, Ma.

Overall, I had a good experience with them. I walked out earlier in the week when they wanted 21,300, then went back when I called a few days later and the price was lowered to $21,012. They simply had the best deal I could find locally and I am happy with the car.

Has anyone seen 08 Camrys yet? If yes, are there any changes, improvements? Also, when will Toyota usually stop making 07 Camrys? Please inform.

    Thanks.
  • mvperez4jesusmvperez4jesus Member Posts: 231
as per a couple of wesites, they are going to be rolling in to the lots at the end of the month. as to when the 07 will stop? until they last i guess. as far as changes: as per toyota nothing so far. will only increase an extra $100, which is not a big deal, if you avoid taking the hit from depreciation on an 07, which depending on the model will be $3000 +++++. i will say. just wait

It would be nice to see the MSRP for comparison's sake, but here are the high/low MSRPs and selling prices for an XLE V6 from a local DC dealer who publishes low prices and doesn't come much (if any) off of those prices.

    MSRP SALE PRICE
    30379 27202
    31664 28279

Their prices include transp but nothing else. Looks like you did pretty good, absent any other information.

    cpa3,

Sorry, couldn't find the residual rate they used in any of the paperwork. I guess I would need to contact the dealer unless there is a way to back into it.

I'm shopping for a new Camry LE-V6 (just the basic, no additional options necessary) in Southern California and would appreciate any feedback from members of this forum as to prices paid (before TTL) and dealers in the SoCal area that offer the best deal.

I drove a 95' Camry LE-V6 for more than 10 years and sold it last year with 150k miles. The car performed flawlessly during that period and it was the best car I ever owned.

Thank you in advance for any feedback.

It's a bit off the subject, but I found the 2007 Camry LE to be really quick (almost too) with the smooth V-6. Daughter is a hard driving, experienced driver from years in a powerful rear drive car, but is being very cautious due to the power, front drive, and quick turning of the new V-6 Camry. Wouldn't drive or listen to old dad on merits of just getting the 4 which like the Nissan 4 seemed to have lots of power. I did admit that 4 in the Fusion or Milan was suspect in the power department. Sure the V-6 in the 07 Camry is quiet and smooth and the six-speed auto is great--but do we really need 0-60 times under around 7 seconds and a "sedan" with 160 mph speedo?
  • wvgasguywvgasguy Member Posts: 1,405
and a "sedan" with 160 mph speedo?

Don't believe everything you read ;)

but do we really need 0-60 times under around 7 seconds

Think of it as a safety feature when used properly. Personally I would not want my daughter in a slug worrying about if she can merge, get out of the way and avoid idiots (besides her brother)

I've never been a believer that you can have too much power. At least not since the invention of IRS, radial tires and overall better handling cars than what I grew up with in the 60's driving.
  • nbxnbx Member Posts: 28
You're right about the safety feature when used properly. Our daughter made this exact point from the first day we started looking at the Altima, Milan, Camry, etc. The 4 cylinder in the Ford was just average and barely adequate around town and would have been too weak on interstate hills, passing in hilly country, etc.

Correction. I see from the Motor Trend COTY article that they got the 2007 Camry SE V-6 version with a 0-60 time of 6.0 flat, 1/4 mile at 97.5 mph, and 45-65 passing in 2.95 seconds.

Hey compared to slugging around in huge Ford suvs, I was impressed with the performance of the basic 4 cylinder with automatic in the 2007 Camry.

Of course the 4 and V-6 front-drive mid-sized cars are a completely different class of vehicles compared to the boat towing, hard working suvs, but I was much impressed that the small Toyota engines move the 3200-3440 lb front drivers so well, so smoothly.
  • wvgasguywvgasguy Member Posts: 1,405
Our daughter made this exact point

LOL, yeah, I remember my son when he was 16 totally agreed with me when I bought him a 1990 300ZX. I thought maybe a 2 seater would keep himout of even more trouble. He's confessed (several years later) that you can fit 6 guys in one of these.

Point: Trust them but only when you can see them.

Question: I am interested in the 2007 Camry XLE V6 which has a push button ignition. Can I add the Toyota remote starter and Alarm system to this car. I am told by one dealer in the NYC area that you cannot add a remote starter to a push button ignition, it is not compatiable..Thanks....

    Hi, mjvsk
I'm also looking at the same car at the same place as you. My friend just got a basic LE model from Lia Toyota with $22,600 for OTD. I'm not sure about the price before TTL. Another friend got a basic CE model at Northway at 20500 OTD. I plan to get one at the end of Aug. What's your plan? Could you share what information you have got? Thanks!
  • krc1krc1 Member Posts: 5
    Hi,

Does anyone have any idea of what a good OTD price for a 2007 Camry SE with a sunroof would be right now for the Georgia area? I am interested in buying one.
  • mistercomisterco Member Posts: 2
I just bought one of these yesterday, for $21,458 before TTl. OTD was $23,000. This was at Hamer - nice folks. Keyes was also dealing, but Hamer is closer to home. I paid $638 for Lojack so that was on top of otd. Did I get reamed on Lojack?
  • mistercomisterco Member Posts: 2
The $21,458 before TTL does not reflect the $500 rebate, but the OTD price of $23,000 does, which explains why the difference between the two prices is not enough to cover sales tax.
  • joonjoon Member Posts: 121
    misterco,

Thank you for the reply. Do you know when the $500 rebate will expire? Also what city the two dealers you mentioned (Hamer and Keyes) located? Thanks again.

    Joon

p.s. What color did you end up buying?

After hours (and I mean hours) of back and forth at a dealership in Dallas/Ft Worth, I drove home in a Camry SE 4cyl w/ Sunroof (MSRP $24,060.00) I didn't think that I really cared what the "price" was, just focused on the payment.

I had negative value of $1,500.00 on a trade-in that I buried in the new lease and did the prepay maint/GAP. 36 month term 12k/year

Left the lot giving then $435.00 for 1st month (and the keys to my up-side-down trade).

People of knowledge... How did I do?

    Hello everyone;
this was my first experience in buying a car. picked up at a dealership in Dallas-fort worth, in Arlington; Vandergriff Toyota; i bought 2007 LE V6 with Leather interior, alloy wheels, and some option for 349, which said something about sound blaster or color, rental car etc. the sticker price was 26,652 before TTL, came down to 24,343. with TTL total was 27,180. please let me know if i got a good or bad deal. im getting very anxious looking at the price of what people paid for a car on this forum. im happy with it, i just want to know if if made a good decision; this is a V6 just so you know.

Also how many days do i have where i can either return the car or cancel the contract or may be exchange for different one; if i were to get a bad deal on it.

I have been offered by a CT dealer a loaded 07 Camry XLE V6 for $27,900+. Options include stability control, smart key, heated front seats and carpet set. From what I can see the only major option it does not have is the navigation system. Dealer gave me copy of inventory report on this car that says base price is $27,820 + accessories $1,739 + destination charge $620 = $30,179. Edmunds.com TMV for this car = $28,200+, so on the surface it appears to be a good price. How much better can I expect to do?

    hello everyeone;

first off, let me say thanks to whoever were making fun of my posts. i would have appreaciated it very much for your honest opinion, anyway, i don't need it anymore. here's my facts TMV price is 23,444 with alloy wheels without leather seats(costs about 1400); i got it for 24, 343 with leather seats and alloy wheels; so i don't think i made a bad deal; i made a good deal as well. I will be back on this forum when i decide to purchase another car.
    thanks everyone ;)
