Bought Toyota Camry Hybrid, 2009, UP package, Heated Mirrors, Floor Matts. Total Price paid with $150 administrative fee was $23,450. Bought from Pappas Toyota in St. Peters, MO. They beat the price from Fitzmall website.

Test drove last weekend, called dealer friday night asking to match competitors price. They called back in 15 minutes with lower price. Went in yesterday and bought it, no surprise charges!

If you buy from Pappas Toyota, tell them Marilyn Wilson sent you.

Just bought Camty 2009 LE 4 cyl, auto for $17,788.00 from Manhatten Beach Toyota (California).

When you say you bought 1300.00 under invoice, I am a little confused about "invoice". I am in the process of buying a 2009 Camry and when actually ready to buy, I plan on asking the salesman for the invoice. Is this something that all salemen should should me? Is this the price that the dealer actually paid for the car? How much above or below should you pay for a car?
Please help me out on this.
    Thanks
Any idea what I should be able to get a 2009 Camry LE 2.4 Liter - 4 cyclinder - 5 speed automatic - out the door for? I am trying to find a price of 18,500.
    Please advise.
    Thanks

Anyone know why the www.toyota.com website Build Your Own won't let you select the V6 in LE trim level anymore? It used to work.

Thought I would post this to help others who are in the market for a 2009 Camry LE and also to see if I got a good deal.

Basic model, automatic trans, has power everything, power seat, cruise control, cd, a/c, etc. but nothing else (would have liked to at least get a moon roof but oh well). Bought in Roswell, GA. Total Paid $19,837 out the door.

Purchase price was $17,940 after some kind of incentive discount, plus $600 doc fee (asked them 10 times to waive it and threatened to walk but they wouldn't budge), plus $1,297 taxes (tax is 7% in GA). They also throw in a free oil change for what its worth.

Anyone want to weigh in on whether I got a decent deal based on their experience or did I get taken for a ride, so to speak?

    Thanks!

    IT IS GOOD DEAL.

My friend just bought LE 4 for 20500 OTD and no free oil change and tax is 6% in MD.
  • bengoshibengoshi Member Posts: 5
Thanks for the quick response- I always end up feeling ripped off for some reason because you have to fight so hard to save a little $$ with car dealers (even in this economy).

Just bought a 2009 Camry LE auto 4 from Copeland Toyota, Brockton, Mass.
    Price breakdown was as follows:
    MSRP $22,569
    Invoice $20,523 minus $433 holdback & $216 financial reserve
    Cost $19,874 minus $500 end-of-model-year discount
Sale $19,374 minus $1,500 rebate from Toyota
    Final $17,874
Plus $250 doc fee, $893.70 Mass. tax, $50 title, $36 new plates
    $19103.70 out the door

(Edmunds TMV = $19,142 after rebate: we beat it by over $1,000 even after the doc fee)

Copeland played absolutely no games with us; they gave us their best price up front, disclosed all fees, and put no pressure on us to buy the extended warranty or any of the protection packages. They treated us with respect from start to finish.

May all your car purchases be as stress-free as ours was.

Hi - thanks so much for the info, but have a couple of questions. What exactly is the holdback and financial reserve? I live in OHIO and am fighting with all the dealers to get a good price. The best price is have received is 19,558 out the door and I am still trying to find a better price. What is your tax rate in MA? Just curious.
    Thanks for your info.
Enjoy your new car, hoping to get mine soon.
  • lchancellorlchancellor Member Posts: 2
The holdback and financial reserve are amounts included in the invoice, which the dealer gets back eventually from Toyota...so his cost is actually less than invoice. Most dealers wish we didn't know about them. Some dealers will give up part or all of them, especially at the end of a model year. We didn't ask the dealers we contacted to give anything up, or even to sell at or below invoice; we just asked them for the lowest price they were comfortable selling the car at. It pays to get in touch with 8 or 10 dealers, including one or more outside your immediate area. We ended up with a dealer an hour away, but it was worth the drive for their respectful treatment as well as their price.

Tax rate in Massachusetts is 5 percent. Good luck with your purchase.

Could someone please recommend a good toyota dealer in north jersey? I am looking for 2009 Camry LE with VS option but the OTD quotes I got were all over 20700. Is this a reasonable price? Or did anyone do better?

    Thanks a lot!

Thank you so much for your help. Hopefully I will get a good deal like you did.

anyone recommend dealer or Internet purchas agent for Camry 4 cyl. Leather, heated seats no NAV in NE florida. anyone use costco? eed direction
  • m0m0kom0m0ko Member Posts: 4
I haven't bought it yet but I got a written confirmation that this is a RED LE b/c I requested a red one. This inclues destination. So the total is actually 17695, this includes the rebate, still got to pay ttl. the doc fee is 295. Anybody interested in a group buy so that we can lower the cost even more?

I was considering to buy an AWD since I live in MA and the weather here is pretty bad in the winter but all the rogue, RAV4, and CRV dealerships pissed me off. Esp herb chambers honda in Boston. Every time I try to buy a car from them is a pain in axx. This time is even worst. they called me about the CRV and said they were having some ridiculous sale for crv 18995. when i got there, they said they messed up the quote and gave me a 20000 quote. i was pissed and left. don't go there, they are suckers!

Anyway, lesson learned was that I need to have something in writing. I got a written statement from the sales manager for a camry and I know that 17700 is doable. if you are interested, email me at m0m0@she.com.

If i don't get any reponses by 3/30 afternoon by 4pm, I am gonna call them and make a deposit. thinking of lowering them down to 17500, btw, the quote is good until 3/31 only.

printed out your deal and brought it to LIA Toyota in Willbraham, MA. They matched it. Thanks!
  • iwantnewiwantnew Member Posts: 10
I went to a toyota dealership to buy a camry LE base with VSC.the color and vsc that I wanted, they do not have it. for extra 200 they will ship a car from a different lot. later I found that they will drive a single piece and wanted me to take it with over 100 miles. why pay extra 200 then. backed off.

lesson learnt - NEVER DEAL FOR A CAR that is NOT IN THE LOT.
  • accordhunteraccordhunter Member Posts: 24
You can try Towne Toyota in Ledgewood, they quoted 4 cy. LE, AT $17,168, even plus all the fees, its OTD should be around $19K. Since I didn't buy a Camry there (bought a Honda instead), I can not tell how do they handle the selling process. Good Luck!
  • mcdawggmcdawgg Member Posts: 1,722
I like to get my cars with 5 miles or less, so I just go to the dealer that has the car I want. Last time, I drove 3 hours away to get it.
  • joem5joem5 Member Posts: 201
    You did well.
  • m0m0kom0m0ko Member Posts: 4
after i posted, I received two emails. i met up w/ one and we brought the price down to for a few more hundred of bucks. It was a tough fight, b/c some of the dealers matched it but some dealers just lied and when we got there it was a different thing even we have something in writing.

we ended up buying on 3/31 from Boch. They were very easy to deal w/ and the saleseman are much more honest than other ones i have dealt w/.

Hi, Can anyone provide me with dealership names that offer good deals in NC? I haven't had any luck in talking to internet sales managers, maybe i should actually visit one. I want the 2009 camry LE, if anyone can give me info that has experience in NC, i would be very grateful!
  • kiawahkiawah Member Posts: 3,666
You don't mention what part of NC, but Anderson in Raleigh, met a price I had from www.fitzmall.com who is in G'burg.

Buy the car from fitzmall if you have to, then drive up and pick it up. Or if you want to fly, they'll shuttle you from the metro station.
  • jrpoolejrpoole Member Posts: 6
    Thanks kiawah,

I didn't mention what part because I go to school in raleigh and my 'home' is in winston-salem so that covers most of NC. I will definitley check out Anderson and bring in a fitz price print out.

Were you able to get the same after freight/SET/dealer fees? Sorry if it's a newbie question, I'm a first time buyer so some of these fees are confusing.
  • kiawahkiawah Member Posts: 3,666
Yes, they matched the bottom line price which included everything except for the sales tax (since purchasing in MD would not have sales tax collected at time of sale). So I took the fitzmall price, added NC state sales tax to it....and that's what the local dealer matched.

    Hi,

I bought a 2009 Camry LE today with only carpet and trunk mat set as accessories.(MSRP $22569). Got $18500 OTD with two year pre-paid maintenance included. State tax in VA is 3%.

Rebates included college grad rebate as I am finishing up a degree in May and the toyota rebate, and we part financed through them to get the price down to what we wanted. Also, traded in a 96 saturn with 135k miles for$700 so cash due was $17800.

Sounds like a good deal? We like the car and dealers were nice to work with too.
Now just gotta look for a deal for 7yr/75k extended warranty.
    Cheers!

Was given a quote of $22,000 plus sales tax and dealer processing fee of $100. This is supposed to be inclusive of all rebates/incentives and freight. Any thoughts?
  • gjagja Member Posts: 28
Are 2009 LE V6 still available ? They seem to be very rare.
  • mcdawggmcdawgg Member Posts: 1,722
Sounds like a good deal, but I would skip the extended warranty. Just put the money you were going to spend on that into a CD (or under the mattress!). Chances are, you won't need the warranty and you would have all that $$. Look at it this way - the powertrain warranty that you get for free is 5 years, 60k miles. So is it really worth all the $$ to get two more years and 15k more miles? See the forums about extended warranties.

    Hello,
This forum has been very helpful to me in understanding what to expect and how to negotiate while buying a car. I have been shopping around for an Camry LE 4 cyl AT for the past few weeks. Cant find a deal within less than $20,000 OTD. It will be very helpful if anyone can post their buying experience, dealer name, price (including OTD) that was bought in North/Central NJ recently. Thanks again & Happy shopping everyone.
  • tpp1tpp1 Member Posts: 1
just the basic LE, no fancy options, what should be the target price I negotiate for?

Has anyone out there bought the true base Camry recently? I'm in SC and need the transportation without the toys - best possible out-the-door price on anything wearing a new Camry nameplate. Need is pretty immediate, so thanks for your fast feedback.

    .Alloy Wheel

Just got a drive out quote of $19,555 on a new basic Camry LE 4 cyl. AT with floor mats at Sandy Springs Toyota in Roswell, Georgia. Their ad said $17,495 for this car. I noticed in a recent post one of you bought the same car there for $300 more, so you overpaid that much. I was looking for a DOP of $19,000 and walked out. There are a lot of Toyota dealers in this area, and I just read that there is a big back-up in their inventory.

They first gave me a price of $20,000, which included something called Enviroguard. It sounded like they sprayed a can of ScotchGuard on the upholstery, for $489. Said it was already done to their cars and they had to charge for it. I figure this is what they knocked off the price, but it wasn't good enough, and, as I said, there are a lot of dealers in this area with late year inventories to move.

The Enviroguard scam was a turn-off for us.

yes, that doesn't have keyless entry (keyfob), just so you don't overlook that if you wanted it.
  • mcdawggmcdawgg Member Posts: 1,722
Yes, no keyless or power driver's seat, but I'd say that's a good deal.
  • jrpoolejrpoole Member Posts: 6
Does anyone know why the Camry SE doesn't have the same discount as the LE's? I see LE's discounted about 4.5k below MSRP, but have never seen similar price drops applied to SE's. Does anyone know why?
  • mcdawggmcdawgg Member Posts: 1,722
I would think it is supply/demand. You see lots of LEs on the lots, but very few SEs. My local dealer normally has at least 20 LEs, and maybe one SE, but not at all times.
