Your dealer may be talking about if you order now..I believe what was talked about here..was those of us who ordered a three door..my contract says on the back (I think paragraph 6), that the price wouldn't go up once the order was given, and since I didn't order a 4 door (but Chevy is now building 4 doors), I believe that will come under that paragraph..
Jan 28 (the 3-dr's were already discontinued). -----------------------------------
I'm not sure what you are saying..so you ordered the 4 door, at the 3 door prices? I assume if you ordered once the 3 doors were not available, that was already written into the 4 door base price, like it is now.
In my case, when I ordered, it was as a 3 door. Up until the week before the build day, it was a 3 door. Recently when I called, I was told they switched it to a 4 door (which is what I really wanted). I know the base price has gone up to reflect that..I'm wondering if the invoice will come back with the 4 door price or the 3 door. I know I could fight it, but based on losing a truck in Dec for fighting when the dealer uped the price..I want the truck (lost it the last time). If the invoice shows an inflated price, I will point out my contract..but not to the point of losing the truck.
On the subject of customer service, when I was waiting for my truck to be built in January I called Chevrolet customer service with my order number and I was helped by the best lady I have every talked to in customer service. This lady took my order number and said the tracking center was closed but she would call me back in the morning and let me know the status of my truck. (when I got off the phone I said to myself ‘ya right’ I bet I wont hear from them again) boy was I wrong, this lady called me at work the next day and told me all about my truck (it was built and being tested and on the way) I could not believe it, she was very nice and answered all my questions. I know a lot of people have problems with customer service and no one every writes about a good experience so here it is.

I ordered my 2K LS ex-cab 2wd on November 20-99 and did not receive a factory order number until January 21, 2000. Two weeks later I received my TPW of February 14 and now have been told that it is assembled, tested and in transit. The final assembly point is less than 75 miles from my home so I expect to see the truck soon.
I am going to pay for the truck tomorrow at the dealer so I can make use of the $500 loyalty coupon.
I will update when something happens.
It DID NOT come with the rear slider as ordered but for the same price I can get one after market from the cap dealer.
Will be picking it up tomorrow.
Ray T.
Now I will just have to wait as you have done for so long.
Have a really nice day..
Roger.
More to follow after pick up tomorrow.

-------------------
We paid for ours today to use the $500 loyalty coupon (but decided to get the extended care), and the invoice had no slider, but 4 doors (I refuse to get excited til I see it, but since we paid the invoice for it, I'm assuming it does)..was yours built in Pontiac? Mine was built on the 16th..dealer expects it to roll in on Tues..we'll see.
You can get a slider put in for the same invoice amount? That's a great deal! That was just ~ $107 or so, wasn't it?
Love it, love it, love it!
Ordered 12-3-99
Built 2-1-00
Delivered 2-24-00
Drafter
Have a marvelous day
Roger...
Worth the wait
Worth the aggravation
Worth the money
Got the rebate!
NO Shimmies, No Shakes, No Rattles
Just one tough solid truck!
For those who know me you no what it is for those who don't go back to Topic 555 Post 442.
Dmr & Ryanbab: Slider did not come with it, omitted by factory during build (probably vendor supply issue again) NO FLARES on the 2wd 2500 as you stated Ryan (did'nt want them any way).
9 weeks exactly from order (12/17) to delivery.
Final cost was $500 UNDER invoice with the rebate. $25850 w/tax, shipping, advertising fee, registration & dealer conveyance fee.
Already bought the Ventvisor for it, bug guard & mud flaps next. Leer Cap goes on next weekend after I get the after market rear slider installed.
Now to go do some driving.
For all who have ordered & in waiting, you won't be sorry! LIKE A ROCK!

I ordered the truck 2/8 it is a 1500 ls Xt Cab 4X4 with most of the toys but they could not get the order to go though with a rear slider.
Thanks for all the info.
Great truck so far no problems, but I am expecting any problems with only 130 miles on it. I immediately took it out and had 285/75r16 BF Goodrich AT's placed on it and with the 4.10 axle not problems with power.
Off to drive to the store, looking for reason to drive it, it is fun.

Ordered a 2000 RED Silverado LS,5.3L, Auto, 4dr,4wd, 3.73 Locker, wheel flars,Rear sliding window, Alum Wheels, 265 Firestone tires, tow package, dark tint,Lund bug shield, under the rail bed liner and husky mud flaps, etc., back in October 10. TPW was January 10th and received the truck from the dealer on February, 7th. The truck came in with 4 miles on the odometer and a few hrs on the engine meter. Now I have almost 300 miles on it and the truck rides great! I haven't seen any of the problems so far that I read in earlier postings. There is no vibrations, shimmies, wind noise, water leaks, just a lot of head turns! This is my first full size truck and it took some time getting use to, especially after driving an S10 for the last 13 years. I love the smooth power and for me the first 4 wheel drive. It worked great in our last snow storm we had earlier hear.
So far, I love the truck and I too like to say its worth the wait.
I like to thank everyone for the information given in the earlier postings. It definitely helped me make the right selections in truck options, etc. I'll keep you posted on anything new that may come up with it.
Good luck to those who have not received their truck yet.

Has anyone else heard this or have any information?
The page has not yet been updated for February, so they are a little behind w/their postings.

5.3 V8, Auto, Auto-Trac, 3.73, HD Suspension, Trailer PKG, wheels, 265 tires, skid plates, deep tint glass, fog lites. I passed on the buckets, pwr seats, and z71 to save a few bucks.
Anyone aware of options that will cause a delay in building this truck. I have heard of this, but the dealer insists I should order and no problem, ya right!
The dealer also told me I had better get my order in soon if I want it by may-june. My current lease ends then. I am not sure how this ordering thing works, so I dont know who or what to believe.
Also, on the GM buypower website in the "builder" section, it lists four special paint colors available. I am considering one of the colors just from the sound of it, but I have not seen it on a truck and the dealer was unaware of the optional color. It says 6 week lead time for the special colors. Does that mean 6 additonal weeks on top of the normal wait?
I also want the larger tires, the buypower website allows me to select them w/out the z71 pkg. Edmunds states I must have the z71 to get the larger tires.
PLEASE HELP!
Ryan
Rayt - when I ordered mine originally, I ordered polished aluminum wheels and they told me before they accepted the order that they were on "constraint". I canceled that item on the order and placed order without. That delayed my order for about 1 week. Would have been nice for about $100 invoice, but I can live without!
-----------------
On my invoice, the wheels are listed, so I hope when the truck comes, they are on the truck. Only thing I didn't get (per invoice) was the rear slider. Ordered 3 doors, says it has 4. I paid invoice (although that included the GM advertising costs, minus my GM dollars (~$1250)and loyalty coupon (which I used to extend the warrenty). Should be seeing the truck soon..hate to have Ray out on the road by himslef with that brand new truck.
SINTSELA: Place the order if there is something on constraint you'll know as soon as dealership hits "enter" after filling in the fields for placing order on VOMS computer. Have not heard anything about these special color options. Make sure you have settled on a price before placing order of course. However if dealer does not have an "allotment" for this truck hold your hand on your butt cause he can't place the order without the allotment.
Hope that helped.
Ray T.
As far as availability goes, I guess it couldn't hurt to ask if one of those special colors could be ordered by an individual anyway.
They are Woodland green (9V5), Doeskin green (9V9), Wheatland yellow (9W3) & Tangier orange (9W4). According to the page that is attached to the color chart, it states that these 4 colors require (01U) what ever that code means? It also requires 42 days lead time at the factory? These colors all look like the colors that you would see on government or construction trucks.

I will stick to one of the standard colors.
Does anyone know about the 265/16 tires? Can you get them without getting the z71 package. Gm buypower build site lets me add them as long as I choose the aluminum wheels.
Another dealer told me the fender flares, electrochromatic mirrors, and the rear sliding
window would cause delay. I just wanted to check him. I will check the www.wheels site.
Thanks to all.
Cant wait until this is all done and its sitting in my driveway, awful sick of driving that chev venture van around on the weekends. Yep I am a family geek! That van screams family. Kids are getting older, those 4 doors will come in handy.
Too bad the Supercrew is so new, and the dealers wont budge on the price. I am a chevy guy anyway, probably better this way as I wont cause a raucus in the in-laws house either.
rcoos
for 3/13 can anyone tell me when I can expect to

Below is the list of items on hold or delayed from the website, the bold items are new (according to the website)
Availability is limited on the Silverado:
Regular and Extended cab
1/2 and 3/4 ton extended cab models
Wheels (PY0) with 1SB package
Extended cab with QGD tires without 1SC package
Availability is limited on the following for all models:
3.73 axle (GT4)
QGD tires without Z71 package
Trailering Package (Z82)
Cast aluminum wheels (PY0)
Well boys and girls, ok mostly men. This somewhat answers my question about the larger tires. Apparently that z71 package is pretty popular and they are running out of the rubber.
PYO Wheels? Is this the factory aluminum wheel?
I believe Edmunds states PF9. Must be the steel/chrome wheel...maybe answered my own question there.
3.73 Axle, well I just dont have an opinion one way or another on that. I had 4.10 posi gears in my 71 z28 and it would lay rubber around 70mph when shifting gears. Could I live with the 4.10 gears on this truck? What advantages or disadvantages are there to 4.10? Towing I suppose. Anyone help here?
Trailering pkg. MUST HAVE - PERIOD!
I sure hope all this info is old, and the sliding rear window is the only thing causing delays. Again the dealers did say the fender flares where an issue right now, but they are not on the list?
I guess I will find out when we enter the order at the dealer in the next couple of days.
Interested in all your comments on this.
I did give up on the special order colors, dont want to be driving around a "utility" truck!
I still believe the 1/28 cutoff as stated in "wheels" is for fleet orders only. If your dealer enters your order and GM computer accepts it within a week (i.e. a Vehicle Order Number is created), your truck will get built.
Regarding specific options, limited availability does not mean that GM can't give you what you want. The info on "wheels" can be misleading. Many of the issues you listed were there on "wheels" when my truck was built and there were no big delays. The TPW was 1/10 and the truck was at the dealer on 2/1. I got the towing package, the 3.73 ratio and the cast aluminum wheels.
Don't make your decisions based on the websites info, go to the dealer and get the order entered the way you want it. Impossible combinations will be rejected by the dealers computer and/or GM's system. Then you need to pester the dealer and GM every few days until the TPW is set. If GM can't set a TPW, then you or the dealer can find out what item is the problem. GM's system has a reasonable ability to plan incoming materials (even those with limited availability) and it will not set a TPW that is not reasonable given all of the factors.
Good luck,
Larry

One of my brothers is a GM engineer (please don’t hold it against me, besides, not for the truck platform anyway) and he tells me this goes on all the time. My truck (a loaded LS) was ordered 1/28 and was due to be built yesterday (I haven't called to check today, yet). I phoned my brother to see if this seemed fast to him, and he told me not at all. I didn't catch this right away either, but if you've been watching the news, GM gave four plants (a Saturn and some parts plants) this entire week off due to slow sales (they may not say slow sales, but that's what it comes back to). However, the Silverado's are STILL flying off the lots, so if you've been keeping an eye on this forum, you've probably noticed that folks who've been waiting for so long have all been getting their trucks, and those who've ordered recently have been getting some better (quicker) build dates for the most part. Production's just finally catching up....hopefully it's also an indication that most of the annoying problems (vibration, etc) have been ironed out during this delay. Let's keep our fingers crossed...
Scooter
All I can say is WOW! The only thing that could may this deal any better is to have GM extend the loyalty rebate or start another program which is going when I take delivery.
Thanks for all of your comments, I am going to try and stick to my guns on the options I want and let the dealer tell me different when we enter the order.
Do I still need to bother them with a TPW if I really dont need the truck until May-June?
If you don't need the truck till May or June, but can accept it earlier, then press on. Don't let the dealer know that you can wait. He may postpone placing the order with GM and use his allocation on another customer, especially if he thinks he can make more profit. The Vehicle Order Number and later the TPW is your assurance that the build is going to happen. Second, if the dealer delays the order, there could be other delays that push the build into model changeover and even more problems.
You don't need the form 1753 to place the order, just tell the dealer that it is in the works. It should only take a week anyway. I didn't wait to place my order, the dealer wrote up an agreement to purchase as "per discount program, factory cost + 3%". One warning, dealer participation in this discount program is voluntary, so a written agreement is a little additional protection for you.
This gal (& my hubby) got hers from DeNooyer Chevy on Wolf Rd, in Albany NY..and when the salesman called earlier, it was being taken off the carrier..and he said YES! 4 doors!! Pick up tonight ET 4 PM!! Gotta put some miles on it before hauling the trailer.
Reference my postings 307 and 309, this topic back on 1/28/00:
I contacted Wheels.com and was told that the production cutoff dates applied to individual orders as well as fleet orders. Has anyone been able to get GM to accept an order for a 2500 or 1500 Xcab LB since the cutoff date?
Ryan
Either way I am ordering the truck, I will just have the dealer write on the deal "price per gm supplier program - form 1753", or what you said "gm employee price plus 3%".
If they did not make this so confusing, there would be no such site as www.edmunds.com
I would not expect anything less out of a auto purchase though.

You should still be ahead of the game, though, with the vender discount. Dealer invoice on this truck is about 12% less than MSRP, so you should definitely end up with an excellent price.
