I talked with two dealers today, both will take my order for the truck, the first one stated that GM Supplier deals are not a high priority and to expect further delay over a retail sale. Like at least 120 days. The other dealer simply stated lets sit down, write it up, and enter in the system. I am talking to a third dealer tommorow as I want to order this truck now! The first dealer also stated that he thought the supplier program date had already passed? What the hell is that? He is calling me back tommorow. I also confronted the same dealer concerning alotment. He said the order would be entered and would not be treated any differently from his standpoint. Only positive thing he said. Funny thing, GM states everywhere in all the literature, website, ect "visit your local dealer for further info"
Bull, They dont know there [non-permissible content removed] from a hole in the ground. All blame GM for the problems, delay.
I will tell you this. I have been a chevy person for a long time. I have been wanting this truck for quite a while. Now when I have ching to buy it, freaking GM cant make em fast enough. Well, they should have been making them for a few years already. GM is so big, they do everything by committee, everyone needs to sign off on everything. All that equals SLOW product development. Someone should have been figuring out the production side when the product development goofs where dreaming the 4 door up. Instead, we all wait! GM must be a government run company. J.K. but is sure seems like it.
In conclusion, drove past the FORD dealer on my way home, a gazillion four door f-150s on the lot. hmmmm, no way! If that supercrew were not brand new I would be buying though!
Well, it's been exactely 2 months to the day since we ordered our truck...I am so very glad we lucked out on a 4 door, although the seats in the front do go up enough to enable me (5'1")to get in the back (just had to try it). I love the electric seats..they reposition in everyway possible. Doesn't appear though, that like the LT, it has two memories. The truck runs very smooth (comparing to Suburban, not my little car), no noise (well, only 50 miles put on it tonight!), no vibrations, no rumble (still have some miles to go). The radio (and it has an override) gets louder when you drive faster, and lowers when you stop (which is to compensate for engine noise), and has a nice sound. With the 6.0, we could watch the gas go (but we are used to that), but at least the first full tank was on the dealer.Didn't get a 4 WD, so I was supprised at how tall the truck was..and I really need to get the running boards fast..they have hand grips on the passenger side, but believe me when I say I don't look too ladylike getting up in the drivers seat. Lots of room in the rear, even for hubby who is taller than me.The tire upgrade came with Firestones. The total price was invoice plus advertising costs, minus loyalty coupon (which was used to extend the warrantee), my GM dollars (~$1400) and even a $550 Citibank rebate (which started out to be a Ford Card). This truck looks wonderful..tomorrow we will be ordering the duraliner (which GM lets you know up front, will prob scratch your bed, and it isn't covered if it does), Leer cap, regular running boards (can't have the grands slipping in the tube kind)and mudflaps.Salesman was wonderful..went over everything (except the cargo lite..took us til dark to figure out what that switch was lighting!), and explained how things worked..even showed us where that filter some of you can't find is, up by the passenger seat.
After reading all the delays because of the four door Silverado, this is what I did! I found a dealer who had his allotment of four doors (stock orders not customer) with TPW & very close to being built. I got very luck, the dealership just received word from GM (two days before I went there) that their stock orders were to be built the third week of February. All I had to do was put a small retainer down & provided that the truck I selected was not already sold-it was mine! I should see the truck in about two weeks! rcoos
Whight1, I ordered my truck from Stevinson Chevrolet in Denver, CO. they had 4 4dr 2500's on the lot last Friday.
Snitsela & Mtrammell, Try and find a dealer that has a allocation. I know it's hard, I have been looking for 1 1/2 months till I drove the 60 miles to Denver, I live in Colorado Springs. no dealers here have seen an allocation for months. My dealer told me that they should be getting more allocations and expect to be able to order until the end of April. The info at wheels.com is not very accurate or up to date. The restrictions are for at least a month ago. Who knows what is on restriction now. I ordered my truck on Friday 2/25 and GM accepted the order right away, (yes I have a order # and expect a TPW within a couple of weeks) my dealer told me that everything I ordered should not be a problem, (hope I can believe him).
Y2K, 2500, LS, xCab, 4dr, 4wd, Auto, AutoTrac, Tow pkg, Defrost, Heated mirrors, 4:10 Locker, Power cloth bench seat, Alum wheels, Skid plates, Auxiliary battery. I think that is it.
Mike, Understand what wheels told you, and their site shows 1/28 for all GM trucks, SB, LB, ext cab. as I recall. But there are many posts showing TPWs in Feb. and March and there are no posts of orders being refused by GM because of the 1/28 date. Bill should still be able to get an order accepted by GM, but as post #447 shows, getting a dealer to support the discount program is a bigger problem.
How is your truck running? Mine is sitting in the garage until I finish installation of an extra tank, hopefully this weekend. I did see one other 4dr. in Austin yesterday.
dealers, of course they are going to blame GM for all of the problems, they want you to think that they are your friend and just taking care of you. But many of them know less than you can learn from this site. Regarding price, the discount program may only save you a few hundred bucks over some other deal, but it saves the hassle. Dealers stating "x" dollars over invoice frequently add the Advertising or other fees to the invoice before they then add the "x" dollars. So you have to pay close attention.
Dealer called yesterday afternoon with the news he FINALLY got an allocation for my truck, so the factory order is now placed. Y2K 2500 LS, 6.0l, 3.73 axle, bucket seats, camper mirrors, tow hooks, fog lamps.
Okay, ordered truck on 1/18, and got an expected TPW and order # from the dealer that day. Called Chevrolet 12 days ago and got a TPW of 2/21. So, I ended up calling yesterday and as soon as I gave them my order number, the Vehicle Order Management system operator said "CONGRATULATIONS... your truck came off the line on 2/28 and is now undergoing emissions and other tests". YAHOOO!!!! ) He told me the Truck was built in Weldsville, Missouri, or something like that. Didn't even know they had a truck plant there!!! Dang, I'm down to about 3 weeks now for that "ROCK"!!! Yes, it has been an agonizing and confusing wait, but it's worth it. Everybody else take heart, 'cause it WILL ARRIVE EVENTUALLY!!!!! It will be about 2 months from order to delivery...what I was told when I ordered it!
BTW, it was a four door, LS 1500, 5.3L,Z71, trailering, tinted windows, AT, and with a few other options except for 4WD, sliding rear window <--- didn't need them. Thinking about a fiberglass tonneau cover and a drop in bedliner instead of spray in. Damn bed will be covered, so why pay much $$ for a spray in???? Question, does someone just make a heavy duty rubber mat for the floor of the bed???? I'm in countdown mode now, so each day gets a little more anxious because I know it's coming... Damn, getting hives just thinking about it...HA HA
Does anyone know when usually they change model years for the trucks. I am thinking about ordering a xcab but it would get in sometime in May. If I can wait and get one of the first 2001 xcabs in August(put my order in now for a 2001) I would rather do that.
my truck was built on the 16th and we picked it up on the 29th (so pretty in the driveway!)..so maybe you won't wait as long as you think. I don't believe you will get your rear window slider though. Doris
This is my first post, but have been reading this for a few months. I ordered a Silverado 2500 4wd LS with most everything & aluminum wheels on OCT.29,1999!!! the dealer has had ONLY 3 chances to get it ordered since & the alum. wheels kicked it out all 3 times - I could take it with chrome wheels but chose not to.
The dealer called yesterday which was his third allocation chance and advised me that GM told him he would have ONE more allocation for the 2000 model year and had no idea when it would be. Yesterday it was 200 sets of wheels for 4500 trucks.
I plan on holding to my wheel deal and probably get in line for a 2001. This time I will look for a dealer that has an allocation. I also think that the gas price increase will change the price of poker for the larger trucks next model year.
I have a question on the invoice price..is the advertising charge a real expense or is it there to inflate the cost for the dealer? I see comments here like is not a real expense anybody know?
Further to my frustration to waiting for a 2500 - I can go by a dealer with 30 1/2 tons in stock and get one for invoice!!! I don't understand.

I used the one from my 88 long bed, just cut it down to size for shortbox w/utility knife. Wheel well length slightly different but not enough to loose sleep over it. I don't believe in the bed liners BIG waste of money. I'm sure when I sell this truck 12 years down the road the FIRST thing the buyer is gonna want to see is the bed, NOT! I put a cap on, bed mat & I'm ready for what ever gets thrown in the bed, fire wood, 2x4's, plywood, gravel, mulch, dogs what have you. It's a truck for cry'in out loud! My two cents :<)

Stvokc: I tried ordering a 99 in June/99 & was told that I had to buy off lot or order 2000 which production was not scheduled for another 2 months on build.
Chapster: Waiting for the wheels is fine if you don't want truck within 2/3 months or as you said 2001 might be more viable solution for you. The advertising fee is a regional fee the dealers are "allowed to charge" to cover floor panning on vehicles bought for lot sales. An ordered truck is their easiest least costly sale they can make, no floor panning, truck comes in truck goes out. 3% manf. holdback to dealer. On my recent purchase which I payed invoice & ad fee they made $800 in holdback. All they did was prep truck (washed/check fluids) and I drove it away. If you get the vehicle close to invoice the dealers will not even think of lifting the ad fee, at least the several I delt withtold me. 2500 models are not in as big a demand as 1500's. Then they also change assmbly line set up when running 2500's so orders build up before to make it more cost effective running that line.
Both of my trucks, the one ordered Sept 9, (and not taken), and Dec 29th came with the alum wheels. Maybe your dealer just doesn't have an allocation. 37 trucks rolled in with mine yesterday, 36 the day before, so they are being built.
I think he is referring to the PYO wheels which are optional on LS 2500 & standard on LT 2500. They are slotted not spoked and actually are a much nicer looking wheel, my opinion.

went cap hunting (along with liner, bug deflect, running boards, mudflaps, visors, etc). Liked the Leer one we looked at until we saw the ARE new cap. Very nice..$300 more, but I think it's gonna be on my truck! I found a dealer that has allocation, or at least claims they can get an order number in 1-2 weeks. They also accepted my GMS plan (GM Supplier). I believe them, as they are a very large dealership in Wisconsin and move alot of trucks. They have three chevy dealerships total, and many other GM dealerships. If anyone has allocation, they do. Anyway, I ran into a little road bump with the GMS plan. Here is the story... I called GM to get my GMS paperwork and they stated the price would be determined by adding 3% to the GM employee price (listed on each factory invoice, and referred to as GMO plan) I have also heard that the Wisconsin GMO plan was basically 17% off MSRP. Well, when the dealer entered my order on their computer (build program very similiar to www.gmbuypower.com, the sales manager stated that they were supposed to select GMS to calculate the price and then add three percent. I hope everyone is with me, because here is the catch. The program also had an option to select GMO or from my knowledge the employee price option. So, being the as I am, I asked why they selected GMS and not GMO. The sales manager then produced an GM Bulletin with the instructions for the dealer to select GMS and add 3% to figure the final price. Too me this is all screwed up! IF I PAY 3% OVER WHAT THE EMPLOYEE PAYS AND THE EMPLOYEE GETS 17% OFF MSRP OR THE GMO OPTION, WHY IS THE DEALER ENTERING GMS AND THEN ADDING THE THREE PERCENT, AND NOT ENTERING GMO ON THE SYSTEM AND THEN ADDING THE THREE PERCENT. If it were not for the bulletin, I would have left the dealer without placing an order. Hopefully the bulletin is not part of some elaborate scheme. To make this long story short, I ended up paying $27028 for a truck with an invoice of $27151 and MSRP of $30998. Not a bad deal at all, but the communication and calculation of this program SUCKS! They also tried to add advertising at 1% of MSRP and I balked hard. They backed down. Basically because the bulletin does not mention advertising, nor is it stated on my paperwork. The good news is they accepted my order, apparently have allocation, and will be receiving a truck with my name on it in around 12 weeks. I am crossing my fingers.
I am interested in your comments on all of this. As one of you did tell me to expect a slight difference in the supplier price calculation.
Yes, I agree. I think a rubber mat and tonneau cover is sufficient for most everything. Not often do I see someone bang the sides of the bed with stuff unless it slides around. The mat should prevent that. Yes, It's a TRUCK for goshsakes!!!! On the tonneau covers, are they easily removable in case I need to haul furniture or mulch or stuff???
I dunno, I'm just planning on the truck arriving three weeks after being built...it may take less. Don't know how long it takes to go from Missouri to Virginia, but WHO CARES? I'm not far from getting it--- 2 weeks, 3 weeks, it DOESN'T MATTER. Didn't get any constraints when ordered, so I know it will have all the options I selected. By my own mistake, I forgot to order the high capacity air filter. Was it best not too? Do the after market air filter kits work better?
Thanks for the web site Ray, a great indication of how a tonneau cover helps with drag, and how a square cap hurts the drag. Being an engineer myself, I somewhat knew that covering the bed would help somewhat, but I was too lazy to look up formulas and calculate...OOOOPS...don't tell my boss!!! ha ha ha
Yep. I got truck for invoice and they didn't BUDGE on the Advertising fee--- it was non-negotiable at that point. So what, it was 1 % of MSRP...not a biggie. But it was fun trying to get it taken off the price. Actually, the whole process was fun, especially when you're armed with all the price facts for options and ordering. Salesman knew I KNEW what was going on. I never EVER mentioned MSRP because that's for people who look like they're not prepared...Just MY two cents worth ;-)

i dont think it matters how they order it. When the invoice comes in itll have the employee price and they add 3% to that it should be the same then. Check that iunvoice over and over when it comes in. By what u wrote it sounded like something was up though.
Talked to my salesman a few min ago about the ordering. They only order your truck GMO (general motors order) if you are an employee and the rest are GMS (general motors stock) for regualar orders. They both get the same invoices but i guess the GMO is to let gm know an employee is buying. With the GMS they just take the employee price on the invoice and add the 3% . Dont worry about it its nothing unusual you will pay the right price.
Not to be anal about abbreviations but, GMO is G.M. "Option" (as in discount), GMS is G.M. Supplier (as in discount). Regular orders don't have any special designation. Ryan, if the dealer told you it stood for something else, I would seriously consider doing business elsewhere. That's a pretty fundamental thing for them to know. Just for your info...
Bill, It sounds like your paying 3% twice which is wrong. GMS is supposed to be only 3% above GMO or factory cost which is what GM employees pay. However your numbers look about right. The $27151 is 87.6% of MSRP. Mine was slightly lower at 87.1% of MSRP. So it's probably close enough for you to just focus on getting good attention from the dealership during the order process and after the sale. Good luck.
Like Larry said I got a great deal, and I should now focus my attention on the getting the truck. I will be checking that invoice over when the truck is delivered though.
I just dont like the way they calculated it. 14% off MSRP of $30998 is $26658 not $27028 like they wrote up. Where does the 14% come from, well if the GM employee gets 17% of MSRP and I get 3% above that, I get 14% off. Like this 17% off MSRP is $25728, and that times 1.03 is $26500. I know the numbers are not exactly the same but every way you work it out is $350 to $500 off. As you all know I placed my order anyway, they just need to get there STORY straight! UNDER INVOICE ON A TRUCK THIS POPULAR AND IN THIS DEMAND IS AWESOME. Now they just need to deliver it!
You folks happen to know any good lease or finance deals out there? I am also going to focus my attention on that while I wait for that Indigo Blue Baby to arrive! Via General Motors Stork delivery I bet. OH that is GMS option 7!
I got so wound up on the price thing that I forgot to make my point on the GMS. If "S" stood for stock and not Supplier, I can see them selecting the GMS option on there computer to calculate my price at 3% over. However, because there is the few hundred dollars difference, and this ongoing confusion around the program, I think they are charging me twice. I will not push them however, because they can probably sell the truck to someone else immediately for alot more money. Like saying goes "Dont bite the hand that feeds you!" Me, I just want to nibble! What fun would this be without a little DRAMA?
I'm not sure what the GM supplier deal is or how it is abbreviated or its discount, but GMO does stand for order and GMS stands for stock. These are the two options available to GM employees. The price is only different by about 1% or less and is printed on the dealer invoice. GMO is less than GMS. I work for a company that was owned by GM for about 12 years. We were lucky enough to retain the discount after we were sold off. I ordered last week using GMO and was shown both prices.
Sorry, I was late responding to your question back on place-mark #415. The Husky Mudflaps are not in yet, they are still on backorder. Once I have them, I'll try to send a picture in. They are much like the molded mudflaps GM offers for Silverados except these fit around wheel flares.
I'm looking into a good wax that I can use for clear coat finishes and will last a long time. Thinking of using Zaino or Mequiars Medallion Premimum Wax? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
j - just got done doing my onyx black over light pewter z71 with zaino bros. it glows. i highly recommend it for black or colors. no swirl marks (if you take your time and do it right). easier than conventional waxes (liquid not paste) and it protects great. i was using my wife's car as a test vehicle while waiting for my truck to come in. even 3-4 months after waxing with zaino, the pollen we get on our vehicles here (turns a black vehicle yellow in matter of hours) washes off VERY easily and the shine comes back after using zaino. rain still beads after 3-4 months also. not too expensive either. check out their web site, you can only mail order their stuff. i got the polish lock and show car wax for, like, $25 or so, can't remember. i do recommend following their instructions on the 100% pure cotton towel for buffing too. it makes a difference. i took lots of pics of mine. soon as i get 'em back, i'll post 'em. should be in a week or so. kyle
Chevy: I don't know what to tell ya regarding high capacity air cleaner , maybe a K&N filter element would be better the deciding factor would be the air box dimensions to increase to High capacity version, my guess. I also enjoyed the process of ordering this truck, went in with Edmunds/Autosite/Kelley Blue Book printouts, knew what I wanted & got the price I wanted. The salesman told me yesterday he wished more of his customers were as easy to deal with as I was. It all boils down to being a "informed" consumer, period.
Dmr3: I forgot whether you got the LT or LS. PF9 wheels are the five spoke cast aluminum wheels that most of the Silverado's are sporting. PYO wheels are standard on LT 2500 & optional on LS 2500. Given the choice again I would have ordered the PYO, they are a very sharp looking wheel & I believe a little stronger since they are "forged aluminum" (Chevy00 can correct me if wrong, he's the engineer, nice to have one out there to refer to). My truck has the basic chrome wheel, not very well made now that I looked a little deeper at it. I remember when the SS 454 came out it had a nice looking deep dish wheel on it that looked great and thats what gives it character, the offset.
Ryan: order took two weeks to get an order number, but GM was closed for one of the weeks. 8 weeks total til I was sitting in it. -------------------- Ray: we got the LS because we didn't want the leather seats. Tried to get it with everything else we could (although I think the LT had heat vents in the rear also). We love the seats..with a push of a button, it does everything but drive the truck. ------------------------ whoever thought $110 was a lot to paint the tailgate..well, we are paying $175 to have the running boards painted..just to have them painted..not the boards..that was another +$300 and some. Got the Duroliner for a decent price..one guy quoted $279 (Chevey wanted $379), got it for $219..it's nice, can double stack with it, which is handy for me..I do craft fairs (girlie stuff!), and the tables can go on the bottom, yet be pulled out first. Ordered the bug catcher (erg or something like that- wanted no drill one), and the window visor. This stuff first, then the cap.
The dealer I ordered from here in Wisconsin stated it usually takes 1-2 weeks for GM to accept the order. The dealer enters it several times in that timespan. He also said 1-2 order process in that time frame also. I ordered mine March 1, and they stated I was behind 1 other person, meaning he would continue to enter there order until he got an order number and then he would enter mine. I will call there in another week or so to see what is going on. I am in this position of not wanting it too soon (double payments) and not wanting it too late as my lease is up June 15th. Hard carting the family around in my 98 Chevy Prizm.
I finally got an allocation and # for my 2500 silverado. Anyone know how soon I can start getting info. from GM at the 800 # for build dates etc. Got over over zellous and called the day of allocation. The GM rep told me to wait 3 weeks to call back, that sound right?

You stated that you were sitting in your Silverado 8 weeks later. Is that 8 weeks from the time that you got the "allocation" or 8 weeks from the time the order # was issued?
I ordered on 2/9/00, notified that the order was accepted on 2/23/00, and got order # at the same time and a TPW of 4/1/00. Where would say the 8 weeks would start. Not being pertinent, just very interested.

Right now I'm planning on changing the oil and filter for the first time. It looks like I don't even have to jack the front end of the truck to get underneath it. The filter and drain plug look easily assable from the drivers side. This should only take a few minutes!
On a separate topic, what is with the center wheel lug cover plate on the Cast Aluminum Wheels. They "feel" real cheap. It looks like it would'nt take much to dent them to? Do these covers stay in place when you what to change a tire?

SNITSELA: I recieved order # the day I placed order w/dealer. What the dealer means w/statement "usually takes a week or so for order acceptance" sounds like an allocation issue to me.
NASVIKING: Do just what Dmr3 stated call Monday's/Friday's till you get a TPW, they are updated by manufacturer every week.
8 weeks from order...That would have been peachy. I ordered mine from the dealer on 12/10, the order was accepted from GM on 12/13, the TPW followed about a week or two later, however it changed a couple of times after that...Long story short my 2wd Silverado LT ex cab with the Sportside bed was finally built on 2/29 and will hopefully show up here within another week or so...I know some folks actually get there trucks in 8 weeks, but they are the exceptions not the rule I wouldn't expect to see anything inside of three months. ...Elvis
I just see X's for your pictures : ( Well, tomorrow hubby brings the truck to work for the first time..hope the GE workers aren't spitting out too much from that smokestack. Mileage is going on slow..have to put on another 400 before the trailer comes in.I have tried to figure out how the center seat back flips over for a desk for the laptop (for the person in the paseenger seat)..must need an engineer to figure it out. Neighbor has a Dodge..says the room in the back is better than his..and he says the doors on mine in the rear open nicer too.

You may be right about the order number. I am not pushing the dealer, as they were the only one to accept my supplier program order, and the only one said to have allocation. I heard GM is only giving 4 door units to dealers who sell a 3 door. I am seeing 3 door trucks everyhwere. It wont be long before there is a rebate on the 3 doors.
DMR, I gave up on the desk idea even though the owner's manual seems to indicate that there is a desk there. Mind you, I have only just discovered a keyhole for the spare as I was messing about with the trailer hitch, so there could be a fully loaded bar hidden away that I have yet to find -- yeah, right! On the bright side, I haven't discovered anything bad yet -- except the rising price of gas.

I will tell you this. I have been a chevy person for a long time. I have been wanting this truck for quite a while. Now when I have ching to buy it, freaking GM cant make em fast enough. Well, they should have been making them for a few years already. GM is so big, they do everything by committee, everyone needs to sign off on everything. All that equals SLOW product development. Someone should have been figuring out the production side when the product development goofs where dreaming the 4 door up. Instead, we all wait! GM must be a government run company. J.K. but is sure seems like it.
In conclusion, drove past the FORD dealer on my way home, a gazillion four door f-150s on the lot.
hmmmm, no way! If that supercrew were not brand new I would be buying though!

The truck runs very smooth (comparing to Suburban, not my little car), no noise (well, only 50 miles put on it tonight!), no vibrations, no rumble (still have some miles to go). The radio (and it has an override) gets louder when you drive faster, and lowers when you stop (which is to compensate for engine noise), and has a nice sound. With the 6.0, we could watch the gas go (but we are used to that), but at least the first full tank was on the dealer.Didn't get a 4 WD, so I was supprised at how tall the truck was..and I really need to get the running boards fast..they have hand grips on the passenger side, but believe me when I say I don't look too ladylike getting up in the drivers seat. Lots of room in the rear, even for hubby who is taller than me.The tire upgrade came with Firestones. The total price was invoice plus advertising costs, minus loyalty coupon (which was used to extend the warrantee), my GM dollars (~$1400) and even a $550 Citibank rebate (which started out to be a Ford Card). This truck looks wonderful..tomorrow we will be ordering the duraliner (which GM lets you know up front, will prob scratch your bed, and it isn't covered if it does), Leer cap, regular running boards (can't have the grands slipping in the tube kind)and mudflaps.Salesman was wonderful..went over everything (except the cargo lite..took us til dark to figure out what that switch was lighting!), and explained how things worked..even showed us where that filter some of you can't find is, up by the passenger seat.

I ordered my truck from Stevinson Chevrolet in Denver, CO. they had 4 4dr 2500's on the lot last Friday.

Try and find a dealer that has a allocation. I know it's hard, I have been looking for 1 1/2 months till I drove the 60 miles to Denver, I live in Colorado Springs. no dealers here have seen an allocation for months.
My dealer told me that they should be getting more allocations and expect to be able to order until the end of April. The info at wheels.com is not very accurate or up to date. The restrictions are for at least a month ago. Who knows what is on restriction now. I ordered my truck on Friday 2/25 and GM accepted the order right away, (yes I have a order # and expect a TPW within a couple of weeks) my dealer told me that everything I ordered should not be a problem, (hope I can believe him).
Y2K, 2500, LS, xCab, 4dr, 4wd, Auto, AutoTrac, Tow pkg, Defrost, Heated mirrors, 4:10 Locker, Power cloth bench seat, Alum wheels, Skid plates, Auxiliary battery.
I think that is it.

Understand what wheels told you, and their site shows 1/28 for all GM trucks, SB, LB, ext cab. as I recall. But there are many posts showing TPWs in Feb. and March and there are no posts of orders being refused by GM because of the 1/28 date. Bill should still be able to get an order accepted by GM, but as post #447 shows, getting a dealer to support the discount program is a bigger problem.
How is your truck running? Mine is sitting in the garage until I finish installation of an extra tank, hopefully this weekend. I did see one other 4dr. in Austin yesterday.

Now the real anxious waiting begins.
He told me the Truck was built in Weldsville, Missouri, or something like that. Didn't even know they had a truck plant there!!! Dang, I'm down to about 3 weeks now for that "ROCK"!!! Yes, it has been an agonizing and confusing wait, but it's worth it. Everybody else take heart, 'cause it WILL ARRIVE EVENTUALLY!!!!! It will be about 2 months from order to delivery...what I was told when I ordered it!
BTW, it was a four door, LS 1500, 5.3L,Z71, trailering, tinted windows, AT, and with a few other options except for 4WD, sliding rear window <--- didn't need them.
Thinking about a fiberglass tonneau cover and a drop in bedliner instead of spray in. Damn bed will be covered, so why pay much $$ for a spray in???? Question, does someone just make a heavy duty rubber mat for the floor of the bed???? I'm in countdown mode now, so each day gets a little more anxious because I know it's coming... Damn, getting hives just thinking about it...HA HA

The dealer called yesterday which was his third allocation chance and advised me that GM told him he would have ONE more allocation for the 2000 model year and had no idea when it would be. Yesterday it was 200 sets of wheels for 4500 trucks.
I plan on holding to my wheel deal and probably get in line for a 2001. This time I will look for a dealer that has an allocation. I also think that the gas price increase will change the price of poker for the larger trucks next model year.
I have a question on the invoice price..is the advertising charge a real expense or is it there to inflate the cost for the dealer? I see comments here like is not a real expense anybody know?
Further to my frustration to waiting for a 2500 - I can go by a dealer with 30 1/2 tons in stock and get one for invoice!!! I don't understand.

Stvokc: I tried ordering a 99 in June/99 & was told that I had to buy off lot or order 2000 which production was not scheduled for another 2 months on build.
Chapster: Waiting for the wheels is fine if you don't want truck within 2/3 months or as you said 2001 might be more viable solution for you. The advertising fee is a regional fee the dealers are "allowed to charge" to cover floor panning on vehicles bought for lot sales. An ordered truck is their easiest least costly sale they can make, no floor panning, truck comes in truck goes out. 3% manf. holdback to dealer. On my recent purchase which I payed invoice & ad fee they made $800 in holdback. All they did was prep truck (washed/check fluids) and I drove it away. If you get the vehicle close to invoice the dealers will not even think of lifting the ad fee, at least the several I delt withtold me. 2500 models are not in as big a demand as 1500's. Then they also change assmbly line set up when running 2500's so orders build up before to make it more cost effective running that line.

Are there more than one kind of alum wheels? PYO wheels are the wheels we ordered (polished Alum wheels, forged $110 MSRP)...I saw on the Wheels site there was a problem, but it wasn't a problem on either of our trucks.
went cap hunting (along with liner, bug deflect, running boards, mudflaps, visors, etc). Liked the Leer one we looked at until we saw the ARE new cap. Very nice..$300 more, but I think it's gonna be on my truck! Found some nice running boards (I'm sure not what any of the guys would want)..so many things to add.Put some more miles n the truck looking around.
I have also heard that the Wisconsin GMO plan was basically 17% off MSRP. Well, when the dealer entered my order on their computer (build program very similiar to www.gmbuypower.com, the sales manager stated that they were supposed to select GMS to calculate the price and then add three percent. I hope everyone is with me, because here is the catch. The program also had an option to select GMO or from my knowledge the employee price option. So, being the as I am, I asked why they selected GMS and not GMO. The sales manager then produced an GM Bulletin with the instructions for the dealer to select GMS and add 3% to figure the final price. Too me this is all screwed up! IF I PAY 3% OVER WHAT THE EMPLOYEE PAYS AND THE EMPLOYEE GETS 17% OFF MSRP OR THE GMO OPTION, WHY IS THE DEALER ENTERING GMS AND THEN ADDING THE THREE PERCENT, AND NOT ENTERING GMO ON THE SYSTEM AND THEN ADDING THE THREE PERCENT. If it were not for the bulletin, I would have left the dealer without placing an order. Hopefully the bulletin is not part of some elaborate scheme. To make this long story short, I ended up paying $27028 for a truck with an invoice of $27151 and MSRP of $30998. Not a bad deal at all, but the communication and calculation of this program SUCKS! They also tried to add advertising at 1% of MSRP and I balked hard. They backed down. Basically because the bulletin does not mention advertising, nor is it stated on my paperwork.
The good news is they accepted my order, apparently have allocation, and will be receiving a truck with my name on it in around 12 weeks.
I am crossing my fingers.
I am interested in your comments on all of this. As one of you did tell me to expect a slight difference in the supplier price calculation.

I dunno, I'm just planning on the truck arriving three weeks after being built...it may take less. Don't know how long it takes to go from Missouri to Virginia, but WHO CARES? I'm not far from getting it--- 2 weeks, 3 weeks, it DOESN'T MATTER. Didn't get any constraints when ordered, so I know it will have all the options I selected. By my own mistake, I forgot to order the high capacity air filter. Was it best not too? Do the after market air filter kits work better?
Thanks for the web site Ray, a great indication of how a tonneau cover helps with drag, and how a square cap hurts the drag. Being an engineer myself, I somewhat knew that covering the bed would help somewhat, but I was too lazy to look up formulas and calculate...OOOOPS...don't tell my boss!!! ha ha ha
Yep. I got truck for invoice and they didn't BUDGE on the Advertising fee--- it was non-negotiable at that point. So what, it was 1 % of MSRP...not a biggie. But it was fun trying to get it taken off the price. Actually, the whole process was fun, especially when you're armed with all the price facts for options and ordering. Salesman knew I KNEW what was going on. I never EVER mentioned MSRP because that's for people who look like they're not prepared...Just MY two cents worth ;-)

Mine had no constraints upon ordering, (wheels site showed some) but still didn't get the rear slider, and it showed up with 4 doors instead of 3 (which was a plus..and not musch money.

It sounds like your paying 3% twice which is wrong. GMS is supposed to be only 3% above GMO or factory cost which is what GM employees pay. However your numbers look about right. The $27151 is 87.6% of MSRP. Mine was slightly lower at 87.1% of MSRP. So it's probably close enough for you to just focus on getting good attention from the dealership during the order process and after the sale. Good luck.

I just dont like the way they calculated it. 14% off MSRP of $30998 is $26658 not $27028 like they wrote up. Where does the 14% come from, well if the GM employee gets 17% of MSRP and I get 3% above that, I get 14% off. Like this 17% off MSRP is $25728, and that times 1.03 is $26500.
I know the numbers are not exactly the same but every way you work it out is $350 to $500 off. As you all know I placed my order anyway, they just need to get there STORY straight! UNDER INVOICE ON A TRUCK THIS POPULAR AND IN THIS DEMAND IS AWESOME. Now they just need to deliver it!
You folks happen to know any good lease or finance deals out there? I am also going to focus my attention on that while I wait for that Indigo Blue Baby to arrive! Via General Motors Stork delivery I bet. OH that is GMS option 7!

I'm looking into a good wax that I can use for clear coat finishes and will last a long time. Thinking of using Zaino or Mequiars Medallion Premimum Wax? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
just got done doing my onyx black over light pewter z71 with zaino bros. it glows. i highly recommend it for black or colors. no swirl marks (if you take your time and do it right). easier than conventional waxes (liquid not paste) and it protects great. i was using my wife's car as a test vehicle while waiting for my truck to come in. even 3-4 months after waxing with zaino, the pollen we get on our vehicles here (turns a black vehicle yellow in matter of hours) washes off VERY easily and the shine comes back after using zaino. rain still beads after 3-4 months also. not too expensive either. check out their web site, you can only mail order their stuff. i got the polish lock and show car wax for, like, $25 or so, can't remember. i do recommend following their instructions on the 100% pure cotton towel for buffing too. it makes a difference. i took lots of pics of mine. soon as i get 'em back, i'll post 'em. should be in a week or so.

I also enjoyed the process of ordering this truck, went in with Edmunds/Autosite/Kelley Blue Book printouts, knew what I wanted & got the price I wanted. The salesman told me yesterday he wished more of his customers were as easy to deal with as I was. It all boils down to being a "informed" consumer, period.
Dmr3: I forgot whether you got the LT or LS. PF9 wheels are the five spoke cast aluminum wheels that most of the Silverado's are sporting. PYO wheels are standard on LT 2500 & optional on LS 2500. Given the choice again I would have ordered the PYO, they are a very sharp looking wheel & I believe a little stronger since they are "forged aluminum" (Chevy00 can correct me if wrong, he's the engineer, nice to have one out there to refer to). My truck has the basic chrome wheel, not very well made now that I looked a little deeper at it. I remember when the SS 454 came out it had a nice looking deep dish wheel on it that looked great and thats what gives it character, the offset.

Ray: we got the LS because we didn't want the leather seats. Tried to get it with everything else we could (although I think the LT had heat vents in the rear also). We love the seats..with a push of a button, it does everything but drive the truck.

whoever thought $110 was a lot to paint the tailgate..well, we are paying $175 to have the running boards painted..just to have them painted..not the boards..that was another +$300 and some. Got the Duroliner for a decent price..one guy quoted $279 (Chevey wanted $379), got it for $219..it's nice, can double stack with it, which is handy for me..I do craft fairs (girlie stuff!), and the tables can go on the bottom, yet be pulled out first. Ordered the bug catcher (erg or something like that- wanted no drill one), and the window visor. This stuff first, then the cap.

LOL, yup sounds right as to what they say..did I listen? Nope. I called every Monday and Frid afternoon, til they said it left (even when they told me it started production, and glad I did..it was built the 16th, got it the 29th..if I had waited the 3 weeks, it would have been in the driveway already!)..took no time at all to get the TPW once I got the order number.
I ordered on 2/9/00, notified that the order was accepted on 2/23/00, and got order # at the same time and a TPW of 4/1/00. Where would say the 8 weeks would start. Not being pertinent, just very interested.

Right now I'm planning on changing the oil and filter for the first time. It looks like I don't even have to jack the front end of the truck to get underneath it. The filter and drain plug look easily assable from the drivers side. This should only take a few minutes!
On a separate topic, what is with the center wheel lug cover plate on the Cast Aluminum Wheels. They "feel" real cheap. It looks like it would'nt take much to dent them to? Do these covers stay in place when you what to change a tire?
Any advice here would be greatly appreciated.

That was from the day it was ordered. Actually, to be technically correct, it was two months. But the plant was closed some of the time for the holiday. Ordered Dec 29th, and picked it up Feb 29!

SNITSELA: I recieved order # the day I placed order w/dealer. What the dealer means w/statement "usually takes a week or so for order acceptance" sounds like an allocation issue to me.
NASVIKING: Do just what Dmr3 stated call Monday's/Friday's till you get a TPW, they are updated by manufacturer every week.

I ordered mine from the dealer on 12/10, the order was accepted from GM on 12/13, the TPW followed about a week or two later, however it changed a couple of times after that...Long story short my 2wd Silverado LT ex cab with the Sportside bed was finally built on 2/29 and will hopefully show up here within another week or so...I know some folks actually get there trucks in 8 weeks, but they are the exceptions not the rule I wouldn't expect to see anything inside of three months.

Well, tomorrow hubby brings the truck to work for the first time..hope the GE workers aren't spitting out too much from that smokestack. Mileage is going on slow..have to put on another 400 before the trailer comes in.I have tried to figure out how the center seat back flips over for a desk for the laptop (for the person in the paseenger seat)..must need an engineer to figure it out.
Neighbor has a Dodge..says the room in the back is better than his..and he says the doors on mine in the rear open nicer too.
