Easily removed. May look good without them, but keep in mind what the vehicle will look like with mud splashed up on the sides.....

My local dealer has a chip guard installed on the hood, bumper, and rear view mirrors on one of two cars in stock of the model and color I'm looking at. The other is a demo with 2k miles that I don't want to buy. So the question is if the 3M Chip Guard protection is any good? MSRP on the sticker is $995, but what would be a reasonable price if I do go with that car? $500? $750?

    Thanks!
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
We charge $395 for front part of hood & fenders, mirrors. And $395 for entire front bumper - so total is $790 retail...

Interesting talks here. I am looking at a 2010 Infiniti G37X, with premimum package & pretty much everything, fully loaded. The dealer gave me an idea of price today, MSRP around 43k with selling price around 38.5k plus taxes etc. Could some body suggest what would be the best offer to start with & what should I expect before the dealer stops answering??
Also, I also looked at BMW 328xi and Audi 2.0T both fully loaded, both drove nice, 328 xi little smaller than other two cars but I've concerns about the reliability of these German makers. How do you guys rate the relability of Infiniti esp G37 to these German automakers & also to Acura or Lexus??? I have done my research but would like to know how you guys feel b'cos you apparently are buying one or bought one. Looking forward to hear from you guys.
    Thanks in advance, Cheers..!

Per Edmunds a loaded G37X with a MSRP of $ 43,000 should have an invoice of
approx. $ 39,400. Your price of $ 38,500 + taxes etc, looks to be:
Invoice - $1500 dealer cash + $ 500 profit. If you are buying in Florida just be careful with the ETC.

Simply look at the reliability records at Consumer Reports, which gets its data directly from car owners (not to be confused with phony "Consumer Digest" or other companies that get paid to stump for Chevy, etc.). The BMW's & Audi's are great for the first 3-4 years, and then you get killed by the poor reliability and expensive repairs. My friends with Audi's will NEVER buy one again. They all try to sell them before the warranty runs out, or they are very difficult to unload.

Infiniti, Acura and Lexus are a different story. The records clearly show them to be highly reliable for a decade or more of ownership. You can also sell old ones for premium used prices.

My actual experience with Acura/Honda (almost all U.S. built now) is that a lot of small items can nickel & dime you to death, but the engine and tranny keep going forever. Lexus/Toyota (Lexus is all Japanese built for now, but most Toyotas sold here are U.S. built) lasts a long time, period. I hope my new Infiniti G37x (Japanese built) does the same (first time owner, but the reliability records look pretty good).

I have an internet price from the Pittsburgh dealership of 33,740 for a new g37x sedan with premium. I understand that there is $3500 dealer holdback money which means that they are trying to sell me the car for about $1000 less than list ($39,230). Should I be able to get more off of that number. I think Edmunds TMV is more than my internet quote. Forgot to mention, they have thirty one 2009 g37x's still on the lot.

    Hi,

Has anyone bought a 2010 G37 Sedan manual transmission? I am seriously thinking of buying one and was quoted around 36k for one with the nav/premium package. I was also told that the MT only comes with the nav/premium package. Is that true? I live in Massachusetts.

I would appreciate folks sharing their buying experiences, how to negotiate and what they think is a good price for the 2010 model.

    Thanks!

I paid $32,000 +TTL in Denver in late January for a 2009 G37x sedan w/premium and few minor options, MSRP $39,125. There was a $3500 cash incentive at that time, and the dealers were loaded with 2009's. I was also given a few free extra accessories as well.

Are you being quoted for a 2009 or 2010?
  • gurmgurm Member Posts: 27
Thanks man.....do you think $500 profit is fair for the dealership. The guy told me he was making $1000 profit and he sounded fair. And when I asked him about special offers, he said none, he didn't mention the 1500 cash available to them. Just wondering u know....
  • gurmgurm Member Posts: 27
I agree. I have a 2005.5 Audi S4, with 51k miles on it and out of warranty for 6 months only. Right now, at the dealership for regular maintenance. It has some oil leakage going on and just got quoted over the weekend about 1500+ to fix it. Are they kidding me.....at 51k miles, need to change the oil gaskit and cover caps and this & that???? I am not even sure if the car needs all that but I don't know much about cars, so gotta do it. Thats ridiculous, we were considering A4, not anymore. I love S4 but I guess its about the time to get rid of it and buy something Japanese. I drive an MDX too tried buying X5 but got too scared about BMW's reliability issues and I am wondering that's why BMW itself started doing this 4 yr free maintenance thing. Could try Acura TL but the new grill is plain ugly. And what's the deal about 328xi and A4, both have exhausts on one side of the car-not sporty look at all, prev model of A4 with exhausts on both sides looked better but overall obsolete in comparison to new A4. The only thing I didn't like about G37 is that its not as responsive as BMW or Audi, but probably faster in the end. Electronics and interior is way better in Infiniti. And what do you guys think about the back seat, is it comfortable enough for adults on long trip??? I think G37 is the way to go but.......still thinking....

    Since 1990, I purchased Japanese vehicles exclusively including 2 Accords, a Prelude, a Supra, a TL, a CL (wrecked by my daughter's boyfriend), and a 2004 G35x and a 2007G35x.

I would rate them all as extremely reliable with very reasonable maintenance.

I would my rate the 2 Accords and the 2 G35x s as the most reliable of the group, although we have only had the Infinitis for 6 and 2.5 years so far.

I just purchased a 2009 Accord for my daughter and I anticipate great things.

To answer your questions about the G, the interior room of the G is very comfortable including the back seat. I agree, the TL is not that great looking but I do like the look of the BMW 335 and 328. The interiors of the BMWs seem very, very dated to our eyes though. The only car on your list that is probably as reliable as the Infiniti G37 is the TL and I see no reason to pick the TL over the G37.

I think the G37 and the 335 are both great looking (on the outside) but there is a huge downside with the 335. Turbocharged (possibly less reliable and expensive to repair), the high cost of repairs, way more expensive, and less reliability . The G has nice incentives. Even the 328 is more expensive for less car.

Tomorrow I'm having my oil changed on the 2004 G35x and I will seriously look at the EX 35, FX 35 and a G37. We love these cars.

There is a $ 1,500 dealer cash incentive with certain requirements.
You can look this up on Edmunds home page.

I'm currently looking to buy. So far my offer has been Invoice - 1,500 dealer cash
    + 500 profit. So a MSRP of a little over $ 41,500, I plan on paying approx $ 37,500
+ state sales tax, tag, and state fees. I won't pay dealer doc fees or appearance
package charges. Its almost 100% profit. The dealer is going to make a profit. I suggest you ask for a total "Out the Door" price. This way there should not be any surprises.

Maybe sewellgsm or someone else could fill me in on the Infiniti VPP (Vehicle Purchase Program) in terms of the dates it is offered. I believe the current VPP program will expire at the end of the month, but do these programs routinely get renewed? Or do these purchasing programs happen once per year, twice, etc?
I've tried to find some historical references on the net but am having trouble seeing any real patterns.
    Thanks!
  • graphicguygraphicguy Member Posts: 14,136
chris...should have all the information you need here....

    http://insidenissan.programhq.com/search.psp

If you're a Nissan/Infiniti supplier, business partner, etc, you can now get Infiniti employee pricing. That's good until the end of this month as you noted.

Supplier pricing is a bit higher, and it looks like the the current VPP employee pricing may not be repeated for suppliers.

Outside of the current promotion, to my knowledge, VPP pricing is always good.

You should be able to get your confirmed VPP supplier authorization sheet from your company's HR dept.

That's a good point - even though the VPP program may persist throughout the year, the fact that Business Partners (how I would qualify) are now getting employee discounts may not be renewed. I hadn't noticed that until now.
    Thanks!

I have finally decided to take the plunge on a new G37x after reading and enjoying all of the comments, especially by sewellgsm and graphicguy. I would be grateful if any would comment if you feel the pricing is competitive from my local dealer -- looks just ok and the destination charge seems perhaps too high ?:

    Base AWD $36,050
Premium pkg and Navigation pkg 4,300
    Wood interior accent 550
Splash guards, cargo net and trunk mat 335
    Destination 865
    MSRP $42,100
    Sell at $38,500
PA sales tax at 6% 2,310
Doc Fee, new tag and tire tax 207
    Out the door price $41,017
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
Yes, VPP is always there...the special through March is everyone who is VPP gets the A plan (the best of the best).
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
With a MSRP of $42,100 - I think your sell price should be about $38,000-$38,500 - so your in the ballpark, just a tad on the high side. Depends on where you are in the country and the supply there.

PS Destination is right (Japan is a long ways away)...

What is the best guidance to finding the best deal on a used G37? There are so many variables with used cars (mileage, condition, options, etc), how do you determine the price. With new cars you can work off the invoice and incentives. Anything like that for (newer) used cars?
Is Edmunds TMV the best resource?
I'm looking at 09 G37 Sedans, Journey with Premium package,
  • zenbu0172zenbu0172 Member Posts: 3
Has anyone out there bought the manual G37 2010? What price did you pay? I was quoted 35k before all the fees and taxes with premium nav package.
  • graphicguygraphicguy Member Posts: 14,136
    winston....I'm with sewell....$38,500 isn't a bad price. I'd shoot for $38K, though.

Again as sewell pointed out. It really does depend on the area of the country you're in, and the stock levels the dealer has.

Good luck and let us know how things turn out.

So I bought a new 2009 G37x from an Infiniti dealer out of state and have it shipped to me. I bought it as a new car, not as is. The car is paid for and is on it's way. I talked to the truck driver today and he said that the car has a big scratch on the rear bumper and that it was there before he pick it up and the dealer signed off on it in the check list. I truck driver said he will deliver tomorrow but now I'm worried.
    What can I do?

Wanted to extend a thanks to all on this forum for terrific advice. I was posturing the A4 vs the G37 and decided on the G and am thrilled. I live in the Chicago area and paid the following with premium, navigation, carpet mat, trunk net, wood accent (I decided to forgo the splash guards thinking it cheapens the lines of the car) -

$37,894 + doc fee of $150 + tax. I am pretty happy with that. I worked with 5 dealers and most would deal. I bought from the one closest to home!!

    G37X - awesome car!

It appears that my local dealership still has a few '09 G37 Journey Sedans left on the lot. What is a fair price to pay with no options? I *really* would like an '09 with the 7 speed automatic (I'm turning in my '08 G37S Coupe with 6 speed manual) and trying to balance making a deal on a used '09 or trying to get a deal on a new leftover '09.

Pointers, tips, etc are greatly appreciated! If I can find the right deal, this will be my 4th Infiniti and I have loved them all!

Anyone have any experience with a factory order? Just curious on the time it took...I ordered a 6MT last month. I'm anxious to get it of course! Thanks.

Can the $1500 manufactures cash be applied to a lease for 2010 G37s coupe (6mt)?
  • yourcarcoachyourcarcoach Member Posts: 3
Yes, I ordered my G37 Journey on 2/6/10 and the dealer said to expect delivery around the end of April, beginning of May. He said he'd receive an invoice two weeks before car arrives at dealership.
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
Yes, on a purchase if you do not use the special financing rates. Automatic or 6 speed does not matter.
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
Once ordered, it takes about 3 months to build and get to the US. Dealers order once a month at the beginning of each month.
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
By this time, us dealers just want to get rid of the 09 sedans. Most will sell the vehicle at invoice and then give you the $3500 on top of that or special rates if you choose. So, your looking at around $6500 off MSRP total.

Cool! Did you get much of a discount on a special order? Are there that few 6 speeds out there on lots or did you want a car with very specific equipment?? :shades:

Just agreed on a 2009 G37x premium (list $39,230) for $32,997 + TTL from the dealer in Pittsburgh. Thanks for all of your posts here. I hope I can help someone else get as good or better deal than mine. Being educated really made a difference. I feel comfortable with this number but I wonder if I could have gotten even lower.

Got one of the last 3 '09s at my local dealer last week. G37X w/NAX, premium, trunk mats and cargo net. It was the discontinued coler (Sandstone?) which must be unpopular but which we like) with light leather interior (again personal preference over black). OTD price inc. tax, prep, dest was $35,900 cash. We were thrilled with the price and love the car.

We have been all Toyota for 20 years, but the test of the ES350 left us cold; boring driving experience, Camry-like interior, and of course all the Toyota news was a downer. We love the Infiniti. Engine is a rocket, breaks are firm, very comfortable, love the NAV controls, touch screen and voice controls, lots of luxury goodies, nice stereo (Ipod plus Music Box plus XM=too many choices!). Friend replacing his old Beamer drove ours and loved it. My 2000 Camry XLE V6 still runs like new. If the Infiniti holds up as well, I will be a customer for life. :)

Im on Long island and having trouble finding a 2010 coupe in 6 speed. seems to be very few going around so far. anybody have a clue why that is???

Can anyone comment on this? Sewell?

What if the new car I bought sight unseen from the dealer had scratches on it, can I ask the dealer to pay for the repair cost? I still haven't take delivery of the car yet. It is scheduled for tomorrow morning. Please advise.
  • domain311domain311 Member Posts: 26
Yourcarcoach and sewell...thanks for the feedback on ordering....was told the same, but of course hoping for sooner :)

The deal I agreed on was $480.00 a month, 39/10. Only first month and DMV due at signing. 2010 sedan 6MT with Nav.

My dealer only had 2 coming in for this month, neither of which was exactly what I wanted....I'm pretty particular and if I'm spending a lot of money for something that I will have for a few years...I want exactly what I want.

    Ordered Platinum w/graphite.

    Sewell,

Just thought I'd throw in that here at Infiniti of Tampa were #7 in the country through Feburary!!! Our GM is quite happy. We finished last year somewhere in the top 35 I believe. So were certainly off to a good start! Best of luck to you guys out there in TX!

Do you have any G37 Coupes 6 speed manuals that you can get me a good deal on?
  • cacunetcacunet Member Posts: 25
I just got the car delivered. It has a big line scratched and dented about 1 feet long straight down the rear bumper. Pictures taken.

I tried to call the sales man, no answer. I've been calling him the past two days ever since I heard from the truck driver, no answer.

    What should I do?
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
I would forget about the salesman and call the dealership and ask to talk to the Sales Manger or General Manager. Explain the situation, tell them you are okay with keeping the vehicle as long as they pay for the repair (if you are okay with that), email them the photos....and go from there.
  • m6userm6user Member Posts: 3,181
Skip the salesman. Ask to speak to the GSM or the owner. One or the other should take your call. They should pay a local Infiniti dealer to have the scratch repaired especially since the truck driver did an inspection, noted the damage and had the dealership acknowledge it in writing. Or they could just have you get an estimate from a local body shop and send you a check. Hopefully, that is how they will handle it. Personally, I can't believe the dealership didn't call you ahead of the delivery, explain things and offer to make you whole. Not a good sign that they didn't. You'd like to think that when you're dealing with Infiniti that you're dealing with some kind of class organization but it's really dealer dependent.

This could get sticky, I really don't know as I'm not a lawyer, but since the transaction took place at the dealership's locale, it seems any lawsuit/small claims/arbitration would probably have to take place there which is far from you.

I wouldn't involve your insurance company as the damage took place before you took posession and would probably raise your rates if they even agreed to pay in the first place.
  • jtlajtla Member Posts: 388
    edited March 2010
Sorry to hear that. I suppose you did not use an escrow service for the transaction. But then, again, you should not have to worry this sort of thing when buying from an Infiniti dealership. It is totally unethical not disclosing the damage, and they have the nerve to sign the check list.

In addition to what Sewell and m6user have suggested, you may also want to contact Infiniti USA if you do not get a satisfactory response from the dealership GM immediately. If necessary, contacting the State Attorney General office or Better Business Bureau will help put pressure on the dealership to do the right thing.
  • cacunetcacunet Member Posts: 25
    Sewell, m6, jtla,
Thanks for the advice guys. I'll try the GSM. If no resolution, I'll try the owner and other routes. There are other minor razor scratches and a small ding on the hood which I can ignore, but the big scratch and dent in the rear is hard to ignore. I'm happy to keep the car as long as I can get that fixed.
  • jtlajtla Member Posts: 388
Have you driven the car? How many miles on it when you received? You will want to make sure that there is no mechanical issue as well.

Good luck and keep us posted.
  • cacunetcacunet Member Posts: 25
The car had 495 miles on it which I knew. I assumed that it was from mostly test drives. I just drove it around the block to test that's all. It seems to run fine.

I called the GSM and left a message. I got a call back from the salesman 15 minutes later. He said the damage must of happened the night before the car was picked up. He said he was sorry about the damage and would pay for the repair if I just bring it in to any local body shop and give them his contact info. I don't buy the story but I guess I'm OK with it as long as it gets fixed.

In light of this, I wonder if I need to pull a Carfax report to see if this vehicle has been in an accident of some kind.
