In light of this, I wonder if I need to pull a Carfax report to see if this vehicle has been in an accident of some kind.

Nah, I doubt you will see anything on carfax. Accident is reported only when police are involved. Carafax is only about 50% reliable, imo.

You can look at the trunk pan. If there's no damage, the impact is very light. The damage might be from a small bump when they move the car around.

However, if it makes you sleep better, you should spend the $20 for the report anyways.
  • jtlajtla Member Posts: 388
I agree with gooddeal that you are not likely to see anything on the CarFax report. In addition to the reason he stated, there is also time lag before any data being posted.

It will be more reliable to ask the body shop to check for any sign of accident or hidden damages while you are there getting estimate to repair what is obvious and hopefully the only cosmetic blemish on the car.

do dealers usually discount the prices they have on certified pre-owns?

Thank you guys. I'll bring the car to the body shop tomorrow.

So your having the same problem and couldnt find the 6mt. Its unreal how there isnt any available on long island. i wonder if its the same story in other parts of the country? what options, colors, etc did you order and how long will it take? buy or lease???
  • imyopushaimyopusha Member Posts: 4
You test drove the wrong car. You should have driven the IS350. I drove both the G37 and the IS350 and went with the Lexus. Both were spectacular in my opinion, though. Congrats on the purchase.

    g2369,

We don't have any 2010 6mt coupes right now... in fact there is none in the entire state of FL. In fact when I did a search earlier today I only found 32 in the entire country. Not sure why there hasn't been many released yet... if it were the Sedan I could understand, but not the coupe as the 6mt coupe is far more popular than the 6mt Sedan. Just got a nice 08 6MT Coupe in with only 13K miles with prm&nav.

I'd love to help get you a good deal, just need the inventory to do it.
  • infiniti427infiniti427 Member Posts: 33
I would only expect you to do that... if were not in the top 10 than there is nothing to brag about. What do you think of the new M??? We had our training for it the 7th. Of course I didn't get to drive it, but riding in it was awesome! They brought us a M56x that was loaded. The leather in that car is so soft. Amazing job done with that car!
  • domain311domain311 Member Posts: 26
Yeah same problem...didn't think that would happen so had to end up ordering. I ordered the sedan 6MT with platinum exterior and graphite interior. Comes with premium now so just added the nav package with it as well. Going to do the lease...they said 3 months for the order, which would be the first week of May if it takes that long..

Just curious did you get the 2010 or 2009 for this price? What city are you in?

    Thanks!
  • clsmoothclsmooth Member Posts: 8
when you ordered the car did you negotiate a purchase price for the lease? also, did you negotiate your lease price or do you have to wait for the car to arrive at the delear?
  • domain311domain311 Member Posts: 26
    I agreed to the following:

    39 months/10k a year
    Sedan 6mt w/nav
    480 a month including tax
First month +DMV due at signing

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and looking to buy my first Infiniti. I am looking at lightly used 2009 G37 Sedans with between 16-22K miles on them (can't afford the 2010's). One dealership by me has 3 in stock one with the premium package all three with the "internet" price (not sure what that means) between $25,988 - $26,988. No navigation on either.

Was just hoping what everyone thought would be a fair price to pay for either of these? What should I begin the negotiations at? I have great credit, so I am open to using their financing package or my banks, whichever is better. I am also looking to put around 10-12K down.

Any advice would be great, this is the first car I am actually buying since college so I am still reading and learning but from what I am reading here dealerships make a lot on used cars.

    Thanks

I am looking at new infiniti 2010 G37X automatic sedan with premium package, navigation, wood trim, illuminated kick plates and the car needs to be specially ordered or rerouted etc. The dealer won't come less than 41k with special APR, the firm final price I gave him is 38.5k. Anyway could you guys give me an idea what should be a reasonable price. Also I am looking at new 2010 BMW 328x sedan and am getting really good prices, almost 38k with premium and navigation etc etc plus special APR. I am leaning towards buying BMW if I don't get a good deal, its also a better engine I heard and holds its value better as compared to Infiniti, handles better too, just little smaller but wifey would be driving it, so not a big issue. I did my part of research and looks like my final price for Infiniti should be doable for the dealer. Help me out, thanks in advance.
  • jtlajtla Member Posts: 388
I am surprised that your Infiniti dealer is holding such a hard line. What part of country are you in? At $41k, it is close to MSRP for the car with the options you listed. I think even the $38.5k you offered them is more on the generous side.

BMW's current $2,500 customer cash promotion really makes the 3-series very competitive in price, not to mention the car itself. If you really like G37x over 328ix, give the dealer another chance (or try other dealer) by telling them point blank: beat the $38k Bimmer price or lose your business. If you like 328ix better than G37x or even just indifferent, then it is a no brainer at the prices you've been quoted for the similarly equipped cars.
  • gurmgurm Member Posts: 27
I am in Pacific Northwest. I agree I actually started with 38k and when saw his counter offer and raised it to 38.5k. I think its ok for dealers to make some money but not ridiculous amount. I am giving him 24 hours and if he doesn't accept it, I m going Bimmer way. Any Infiniti salespersons/dealers here are more than welcome to reply, I can buy car out of state & get it shipped. Suggestions are welcome...!

I am looking to purchase a new 2010 G37 Journey Sedan with automatic, sports, navigation and premium packages with splash guards. So far the lowest quote that I have received is $35,981.00 plus taxes and registration. What do you guys think? Do you think I can get it lower?
  • jtlajtla Member Posts: 388
That is a great price even with SoCal standard. Take it!

Hi...didn't realize BMW had this promotion going on...how long is it for? Any other information on this...

We are down to 2 G37 sedan and 1 Convertible - sold out of 09 coupes....
  • yetinoleyetinole Member Posts: 2
Sewell, what's the least I can reasonably expect to get pre TTT on an '09 coupe with Journey and Premium package? I'm currently looking and the dealer seems to be high balling me.
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
I think you should be around $7500 off MSRP ($3000 from dealer and $4500 dealer cash).
  • yetinoleyetinole Member Posts: 2
Thanks. My dealer was offering less than 4k off MSRP, so I started calling around to nearby cities and have been offered deals as good as 8k off!
  • cachoycachoy Member Posts: 3
First just wanted to say I recently found these forums and they have been very helpful and informative. To that point, I haven't seen much on prices in the CA SF Bay Area. I'm looking to purchase a 2010 G37 Journey Sedan AT w/ premium package. No trade-in, no other extras or extended warranty. I'm looking to buy possibly by the end of the mo if the price is right, so I was hoping to get some opinions on what that right price might be? I plan on getting some offers next week, and want to be more prepared.

I have good credit, and was thinking of going for the special 0% APR in lieu of the cash back, but is it unreasonable to expect the negotiated price to include the 1.5% dealer holdback or the $500 dealer cash that can be used with the 0%? Is it unrealistic and a waste of time at this point in the model year to try for invoice less these two incentives (approximately -$1000?). I know what the TMV on the car is for my region, but based on what I've read I don't really want to use that as my barometer on a 'good deal.'

Basically I'm wondering if I'm asking for too much at this point, and should a more reasonable price fall somewhere between invoice and TMV?

    Thanks in advance.

I am also looking in the BayArea for the past 3 months. I've offered $29K at a South bay dealer and $31500 at another SJ dealer withj no bite for a 2010 G37 Journy Sedan with Prem. I know that the $29K is more like a year end price but I can wait and not hurry to get a new car...

    cachoy....try trucar.com.

That will give you the actual selling prices in your area. At least you'll get a good understanding of what the market is and pricing is like in your area.

    Hello,

I am looking for a G37 Base sedan, as it has all the features I really need (and doesn't have some features I deliberately avoid, such as moonroof). However, this car is extremely hard to come buy. It seems like a "virtual car", created just to justify the low "from" price for G37... Is there a way to search all the dealers nationally to find out who has it? Can I order it through any dealership?

    Thanks!

    Alex

    gurm,
The dealers in this area (Seattle) don't compete in price as compare to other areas. The same goes for the one in Portland. I've read somewhere that the 3 dealers here are of the same owner so they kind of play the monopoly game. I've read a few on this same forums with problems negotiating good prices compare to what people mentioned here. I ended up ordering from another state and shipped in. Still cheaper than buying local. A few others on here have done the same.
I also went the Bimmer route, almost cut the check but test drove the G37x again and the lack of power on the 328ix, the small trunk (had a hard time fitting my golf bag), the cheap looking dash and the almost but not keyless engine start kills the deal for me with the Bimmer.

    Alex,

The Base G Sedan is a hard car to find as Infiniti only produces a small amount of them a year. I work for Infiniti of Tampa & we have 4 Base G 2010 G Sedans in stock... currently running an ad in the paper for $29,995 +tax, tag&fees. I think the colors we have are Black, White, Smoky Quartz & not sure about the other color. For the 09 models I think we had a total of 7 the whole year. Where do you live? Unless you want to come to Tampa, I could look to see if there are any near you.

infiniti427 - Thanks for your help!

I live in Virginia, so Tampa is a little too far from me.
Could you see anything in PA, MD, DC, VA or NC?

I picked up my new ride yesterday from Miller Infiniti, love the car, can't wait till the break in period is over.

    2010 G37 Sedan
    Journey
    Automatic
    Sports Package
    Navigation
    Premium Package
    Carpeted Trunk Mat
    Trunk Net
    Illuminated Kick Plates
    First Aid Kit

    MSRP $41,960
    Paid $35,823
    That's a savings of $6,137

Reading this forum definitely helped in the negotiations. Do your homework and you'll definitely save some cash. I hope this information helps in your negotiations.

How did you get a 2010 for $3000 below invoice ? (when they only have a 1500 incentive according to Edmunds incentive page). You must be the best negotiater. lol This cant be accurate unless u had a trade in.
  • xlargelaxlargela Member Posts: 7
I sent out emails to all the dealers in Southern California requesting quotes for the exact car that I wanted. I received quotes from a few dealers that were serious about selling me the car, not all wanted to do negotiations over email, they wanted me to come in and negotiate face to face, which usually is a losing proposition for the buyer, the dealer always has the home court advantage. This was a cash deal, no trade in, this price was in lieu of the special financing offered by Infiniti.
  • infiniti427infiniti427 Member Posts: 33
    Alex,

Your right on the money for there not being any BASE G Sedans... I found only 1 in the area you gave me. There is 1 at Lake Norman Infiniti in NC. Just a thought, but if you wanted we could arrange for the vehicle to be shipped to you instead of you having to come down here. Also, I did a check for incoming cars next month and there is a few more coming in the areas you mentioned.

    I appreciate your help!

Could you please let me know who's getting Base Sedans soon in VA & MD ?

What break in period? I just let her rip. Eventually, it will get broken in. I put 1000 miles on it in a week. :shades:

Just bought a new 2009 G37X coupe with prem and nav from Madison Zimbrick, WI. Traded in 2006 Honda EX V6 with 60k miles. I paid $25,500 out the door (tax 5.1%). I'm happy with the deal...more importantly my wife is ecstatic since she gets the car. Zimbrick and our sales person were first class.
  • gurmgurm Member Posts: 27
I agree with you. I am now thinking on getting the car shipped from either CO or IL. Where did you get your car from?
Regarding 328xi, its a nice car but feels smallish esp in rear seats. I am not a fan of G37's trunk either b'cos its much smaller than my current Audi S4 (2005.5) and I was expecting it to be bit bigger. Other than that, G37 seems to be a good car, rest we'll see how it does on long term, My Audi's been 6 months out of warranty and has started breaking down already, just spent $2500. You know how reliable these German cars are.....not at all....doesn't matter how many LED lights they have, they drive the best but they are pain in the butt to maintain after warranty period expires....feel my anger...lol....!
    Thanks...!

Ouch! I feel your pain. That's why I wouldn't take even one-day of risk owning a German car without warranty.

I received this offer today from a dealer that is 3 hours away from me.

The money factor for 36 months is .00202 but they are quoting me .00227 for 39 months. Are they trying to make a profit or does it go up for 39 months?

Also, the cap cost is under invoice which has me confused. Is there a rebate that I don't know about?

    MSRP $43,205
    39month lease with 18k miles/year
    $39,102 cap cost
    money factor is .00227
    $0 cash due @ signing
    payment is $587 tax included

    Alex,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you... here are the other dealers in the area you gave me to look that are getting Base 2010 G Sedans in the month of April.

Infiniti of Willow Grove (1): They are just outside the Philly area. My Internet Director who has been with us for a year used to work there for a few years.

    Infiniti of Charlotte (2)

Crossroads Infiniti (3): They're located in Raleigh NC.

    Hope this helps!

From Pacific Northwest, looking for a new 2010 Infiniti G37X, black with graphite, nav, prem, interior accent package, tire & wheel package & kick plates, tech package a plus, sports package not necessary. Anybody from dealership here? Cmon guys, shouldn't be too hard. I tried couple of states and the closest I could find is in CO but has sports package. Don't wanna deal with local dealerships, they are trying to use their power of monoply. Any help is appreciated or I would have to go buy BMW this weekend, already postponed too much.
    Cheers...!

    cachov,

I'm also in the Bay Area and recently bought essentially the same car you're looking for - 2010 G37 Journey w/Premium (no nav) with a few small extras (eg. trunk mat and net). I contacted several dealers in the area and the lowest initial price I got was $33K+TTL. I paid cash, so this included the $1500 dealer cash, which you'd have to add to the price to get the 0% financing. All three dealers I spoke to were willing to match or beat the price. I ended up at $32,900+TTL and went with Beshoff, since they were pleasant to deal with and had the largest selection.

The car's been great so far (over the first 450 miles). One thing I'd love to get some opinions on (especially from the dealers on the board) - there is slight burning smell outside the car whenever I park and get out. It disipates quickly and I never smell it inside the car. The dealer and other comments I've seen online say this is normal burnoff of coatings on some new components. I'm curious at what point folks think I should have it check out if it hasn't gone away.
  • zatireszatires Member Posts: 39
    The smell is normal
Will go away around 1K miles

The thing about the smell is actually talked in the owner's manual

My 2009 G37x emitted the same odor. Service tech said it would disappear around 1000 miles--and it has.

Has anyone noticed that the G37 engine is noisy when you first start it up cold? Mine has a lot of "mechanical" noise at idle for the fist 60 seconds or so, after which it quiets down rapidly and is very quiet. The noise is a mix of exhaust/engine harshness.

The dealer said it happens with all the G37 engines. Anyone else?

2009 G37x coupe - same "symptoms". Not worried as it seems common.
