I think 6K under MSRP or 3K under invoice is really good as of right now. You might be able to get a little more off but it might be diff.

If you can wait a little longer, around June or July?, you might be able to get a better deal b/c the new design G should be out for 2012.
  • hangoverhangover Member Posts: 6
when new say new design are they coming up with new shape and lot more features...............
  • gooddeal2gooddeal2 Member Posts: 750
...more likely just new shape. The current G is really loaded already w/o any option.

    Hangover,

Can you reveal the dealer that gave you this OTD price? Thanks
  • devildevil Member Posts: 9
So what do you think about my deal (refer to post 10718) - here is the link:

    http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.ef0b873/10717#MSG10717

Could I go lower than that? I gave them AMEX guaranteed price printout and they matched it.

The dealer was Infiniti of Thousand Oaks. Also, I got wheel locks and trunk mat/net for free.
  • moonsky1moonsky1 Member Posts: 15
I got a similar deal. Yours is 2200 below invoice and mine is 2300, but you got some freebies that I didn't. I am pretty happy with the deal and I would imagine it's pretty hard to do much better given the cost of living at the location (San Francisco Bay Area). Yours was bought near LA and I would imagine it's similar.

I'm at $32,700 plus tax, title and $599 doc fee for a 2011 G37, black with stone and premium package. I think this is good, but wondering if I can do better?
  • hangoverhangover Member Posts: 6
    Is it g37 journey/sport/AWD
  • erical62477erical62477 Member Posts: 11
Sorry, it's just the Journey with premium. No sport or AWD. MSRP was $38,440 so it was $5,740 off MSRP.
  • pilotman5pilotman5 Member Posts: 27
how are you guys getting these cars for so much less then invoice?

Are you including incentives in your invoice pricing?

I work for Nissan North America in Farmington Hills, Michigan and some of the deals posted on this website (if true) are better then my VPP employee pricing

Right now I can get a 2011 G37 Journey Sedan for $29,957. That discount was available to friends through Jan 3, 2011 and I gave out as many as I could on the internet forums but it expired.

Priced a 2011 RWD Journey, Premium, Nav, Wheels and a couple little things yesterday. MSRP is $40,470. Salesman says they can sell for $36,684 plus TTL. Told me this is $500 under invoice. The price doesn't seem as good as those quoted above. I am in SE Virginia. Possibly could run up to the DC area. I thought RWD would be harder to sell than the AWD making it easier to buy. Is this the best I can do?

That's not even $4,000 under MSRP. My current offer is $5,740 under MSRP for a Journey sedan, Premium a few little things and window tinting, in Tampa, FL. I think you could do quite a bit better than that, IMO.

    seems very good.
what is your location and tax rate?
    MSRP?
  • jimmylegsjimmylegs Member Posts: 2
I was wondering what you all thought:

2010 G37x demo, under 7000 miles, Premium, Sport, Navigation and Tech packages for $33,500 before ttl.

I'm in the Northeast (freezing my "G" off!). Thanks!
  • dat2dat2 Member Posts: 251
Is that MSRP around 43 grand? If so I think that's a pretty good deal. You should try to get some free maintenance thrown in though, like a fresh fill of Ester oil and a free 15k service, for example, since it's going to be due in only 8000 miles...
  • gooddeal2gooddeal2 Member Posts: 750
I think the sticker price should be 44K.

Picked up a '10 Journey Coupe with:
    Splash Guards
    Premium Package
    Sport Package
    Navigation
    Listed for 45,175
    Paid 36,222
    OTD 37,900
Had to to take a 180 mile train ride to pick up vehicle from dealer but felt it was worth it. Train ticket was $43.

    Hi,

I am in the market for a G37 Journey Sedan with:

    Premium package
    Navigation package
    Illuminated kick plates
    Trunk mats etc

    MSRP 40,470
    Invoice (including dest. fee) 37158

Deal available on truecar.com is 2300 below invoice (this is in San Francisco Bay Area) for buying the car.

Is this a good deal or should I negotiate further?

Also, I am actually interested in leasing the car, and dealers are telling me that the lease sales price will be $1000 higher than the purchase sales price because the $1000 dealer cash from Infiniti is available only for purchases. Can someone please confirm if this is true?

    Thanks!
  • moonsky1moonsky1 Member Posts: 15
I bought the exact same car in the same area and I could only get dealers to match but not beat the truecar.com. But I was looking for a relatively rare color combo. You may be able to get better if you try hard and there are multiple cars with the same specs that you want in the lot. Probably not a whole lot better but a couple hundreds maybe? Do let us know what you end up paying.

great price. the must have been dumping their 10 inventory!
  • jimmylegsjimmylegs Member Posts: 2
negotiated the price down to $33,000. Dealer included a service plus oil change. Thrilled with the car, lots of fun to drive. Anyone want to buy a '99 A4 Audi?

    what city? was nav included?
  • njkid2010njkid2010 Member Posts: 3
Central NJ (Ray Catena). No, nav was not included.
  • avp1avp1 Member Posts: 2
Thanks moonsky1. I was able to get $1400 below invoice for leasing (that would correspond to $2400 below invoice for buying since there was a $1000 cash from Infiniti only if buying the car). Completed the deal on Jan 31. Enjoying the car now :-).
  • moonsky1moonsky1 Member Posts: 15
Great. I think you did well and the important thing is that you're enjoying the car.
  • erical62477erical62477 Member Posts: 11
    Purchased 1/31 in Tampa.

    2011 G37 Journey Sedan
    Graphite Shadow/Stone

Premium, Splash guards, illuminated kick plates, trunk mat, etc. and they are tinting the windows.

    MSRP: $39,140
    Selling price: $31,990
    OTD price (7% tax): $34,8XX

Surprising my husband with this on 2/15. Went to get it today with my mom to store in a friends garage and windows weren't tinted yet! They offered to flat bed it to me (15 miles) so I don't have to come back!
  • moonsky1moonsky1 Member Posts: 15
That's a great deal. 7150 off MSRP, over $4K off invoice. Congrats and as I said in another forum, lucky husband!

    Lokey Infiniti in Clearwater.

Did you take that price on a 6 mt sedan? Edmunds True Market Value for a 6 mt with navigation is listed as just below $34k, but because I'm not as familiar with new edmunds as older edmunds, I cannot locate the list of current dealer incentives on edmunds like I used to know how to do.

I was considering a CPO 2010, but for the prices that dealers are asking, it's a very similar price to get a new 2011 if Edmunds TMV is accurate (I haven't checked with any dealers in the area just yet).

    Any thoughts appreciated.
  • dfwhondadfwhonda Member Posts: 45
Update: just realized the TMV on Edmunds is for a 2010 G37, not a 2011. If anyone has purchased a 2011 G27 with 6 mt, I would be interested to know if you were able to purchase that vehicle for a price below invoice.

    Thanks.

I typically really haggle on my leases, this time I wasn't in the mood to haggle too much, but still think I got a fair deal, Did this two days ago 2/8/2011

    Northern NJ

$1,750(inc taxes) Cash up front (covers DMV, Destination fees etc)
    $425 Per Month including taxes/ 39 Months / 12,000 Miles per year

Was told the resid is 63% !

Based on an MSRP of $42,070, Sale Price of about $38,100

I'm sure if you have the patience to negotiate, you can do better, since I didn't try all that hard, but now you have something to base your purchase / Lease on... Good luck.

Was in the market for a G37x with premium/nav/wood trim. Got some quotes through Amex-zag and was quoted at roughly 2k below invoice.

Went in to a dealer today (Douglas Infinity in Sumit NJ) who had quoted me 37k over the phone and 37.3 k in an email. First I was given the giant runaround with a different salesperson claiming that the other two people had misquoted and it was a mistake and that they were quoting the wrong car. At some points, they were just outright lying.

I said I was not going to pay above the price quoted in the email. They said fine and came back with a lease payment which had an incorrect residual. When I pointed that out, they came back with a lease payment with incorrect money factor.

I pointed out that the Infinity money factor for Feb is .00125. They were pricing in .00145 and claimed that this is their standard practice and they have the discretion to tag on .00020.

At that point I walked out. But I am totally disgusted with the whole thing. I was so looking forward to buying the car today.

My question is - is this even legal? If Infiniti financial is financing the car at .00125, then how on earth can the dealer have discretion over that? It is not the dealers money!
  • badalpbadalp Member Posts: 2
Douglas Infiniti in Summit, NJ is still lying? I am not surprised. I went there about 10 months ago and I was quoted a price over the phone and when I got there I got the run around and then flat out disrespected when the salesmen just ignored me when they had nothing else to say.

I went to Lokey Infiniti today 2/19/11 and told them of the $31,990 selling

price of 2011 G37 Journey Sedan with MSRP of $39,140. The salesman

said I was crazy and that car could not be sold at that price. Thoughts?

I would like erical62477 to reply to this message please.

To access VPP pricing it looks like you need a relationship with Infiniti/Nissan company (employee/relative of). Is that the case. Thx.

I just bought a 2010 G37 convertible from Infiniti of Ardmore and they were excellent. I negotiated via Truecar and autobytel and got the best offer of 10K off of MSRP from a dealer in Maryland. Ardmore matched the price and gave me an accurate out the door price. I was in and out of the dealer in under 40 minutes. I bought a G37 Convertible with Premium, Navi, Technology, Spare Tire, Wind Deflector, Illuminated Door Sills, First Aid Kit, Wood Trim and Performance Tires. Car MSRP was 53715. final price was 43,715 plus tax, tags. I got lifetime oil changes for 299 and extended platinum warranty of 72/84K for 1500. it was really easy and pain free. They are even delivering the car to my office as I couldn't take it with me. :)

    Just leased a G37x Black Obsidian/Wheat interior with Premium/Nav/Maple Accents/Wheel Package/Illuminated kicks/trunk net this weekend. MSRP 43,340 purchase price 37,955.

Dealer was Sheehy Infiniti of Annapolis MD. Did all the price negotiation over email/phone with Nick Suter. Great guy - came back with a very competitive initial quote and was also very helpful beyond that. Did not try any dirty tricks (see my post on Douglas Infiniti from last week).

Lease terms were standard - 36mo/10k at 65% residual and .00125 money factor. Also, dealer fees were $100 compared to 250 in NJ.

Great experience overall - would definitely recommend the dealer. Took a bus down to Baltimore from NYC and a guy from the dealership picked me up. They offered to deliver the car for free but I preferred picking it up myself. Bus fare was $20 so that wasn't much plus I got to get up close and comfortable with the car on a nice ride back home :)

Used 2004 G35x, 131,800 miles...Paid $8800. All was fine on 2 test drives, but now noticed a quirky tranny slip/hesitation I noticed on my 2 hour trip home. Did it once more on return trip from work tonight...Argh...please tell me this isn't continuing a streak of bad luck. Doesn't seem serious yet, so maybe if it doesn't get any worse I can sell/trade it in a year when my loan is paid. Never know with used cars...anyone have a similar tranny hesitiation/slip?

Just bought a 2011 G37x with premium-trunk-splash-kickplates. $35001 for $40,740 sticker at Pearson Infiniti in Richmond, VA. Experience was OK, with a couple of rough spots. I discovered at closing that Pearson does not participate in the Infiniti maintenance plan program, neither selling nor honoring the plans. You should be very sure to check dealer participation before buying one of the plans from anyone. In my opinion, it's basically a dealer local plan with limited reciprocity, not a corporate program.

Also, the salesman put my e-mail address into the Infiniti national database after promising to keep it to himself.

    MSRP - $40,820

    How is the deal ?

To answer your question - Yes it is legal. I will give you the dealers point of view - you may not like it but here it is.

Infiniti will allow the dealers to add up an extra .00125 (which is about 3% in terms of rates) to a money factor - this is how the dealership makes money. Similar to the way Master Card or Visa, Home mortgages, Nieman Marcus, Best Buy basically anyone loaning money, they (all these places) get the money at one rate and mark it up to the consumer - sometimes it goes through several institutions and gets maked up several times.

So, this dealership was marking up the money factor .00020 or about .5% probably would have made them about $400 on the life of the lease. This is the money they make to have a F&I department and an Accounting department - if they don't do a good job of making money to offset expenses, then it won't be long before they are no longer in business - note this is a business in which the owner expects to make a profit not just break even.

So, don't get too mad at the dealership - Infiniti borrowed the money from somewhere and marked it up, whoever they got it from probably got it from the government and marked it up too.

Hell go to Nieman - get one of their charge cards - they charge about 19.99%, most credit cards average about 12% - so .00125 is about 3% which is awesome and they were trying to get you to sign at 3.5% which is still awesome!

This practice is the best way dealerships make money - they advertise their vehicles cheap to get you to come there (this is what 90% of the discurssion on this board is, who gave the best price) and then simple make it up on the financing. Remember, the dealership is going to make some money somewhere in the deal 95% of the time or they won't do the deal - don't get upset - it is simply business. If you get mad at them for making money, then you should be mad at your electric company, the store you bought your clothes, the grocery store, etc - you get my point.

Last note - in the month of Jan. our expenses were a tad over $200k for the month just in the New Car Sales department - now we are bigger than the average Infiniti store - but it is all relative. These expenses include payroll, training, taxes, supplies, advertising, software, rent, insurance, blah, blah, blah - you get the picture - trust me when I tell you - dealers are not selling vehicles at invoice or below and staying in business long - so keep in mind PRICE is NOT the only factor and just know they are going to make a little money on each deal - doesn't mean they will make a profit in the end that depends on how many they sell....

PS You can always lease the Infiniti through an outside leasing agency or simply go to another dealer that is willing to give the "buy rate" (money factor without marking it up).

I'll jump off the soap box - hope this helps - I've been selling and financing vehicles for 15 years - we finish #3 in the entire Nation is 2010 (#1 in 2009) in selling New Infinitis.....
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,274
Wow! That is a monster mark-up... $3000 or more, on the average lease.

In comparison, BMW dealers can mark up BMWFS rates by .0004 (or, about 1%).. They can mark up the special finance rates the same amount...

Infiniti dealers have an advantage... in that, you don't find one on every corner, so less direct competition from other Infiniti dealers...

It is rare that the money factor gets marked up that much, our dealership cap is .00085 despite IFS being okay with .00125 - but most of the time we get .00021 to .00042 (.5 % to 1%) and if pressed sometimes we get nothing at all.
