Thanks for the reply and info. Since you purchased the vehicle, it makes sense that you did not have to pay the %550 bank fee. I believe that is only for the leases. The $45 Doc fee should only be for purchase loans through IFS. One dealer wanted me to pay both fees for a lease. This is what I wasn't quite sure about.
It turns out that my decision is still on hold, as my current car is in the shop and not sure I will get much in trade for it.
If I do end up getting one, it will most likely be through South Bay. I spoke to the same sales person you did and she has given me the price at $33,380 for G35x w/ premium, sirius, splash guards and trunk mat, including destination and marketing. Seems quite reasonable to me.
Wibble - Thanks for the clarification on this. I'm sure it has been discussed more than a few times here and I appreciate you helping me out, in spite of that.
I live in the Seattle area and there is only one dealer here. At first they wouldn't deal at all but when I told them I could get a better deal in CA they said they would knock off $800 the MSRP. I ended up using a broker and bought a G35X at $100 over invoice (plus $100 for the broker) and shipped here in 48 hours (cost to ship = $475).
In today's paper, the local dealer has advertised G35 Sedan for 29,999 (MSRP 38,890). Sounds good deal to me. What you think? Hope it is not bait and switch.
Here is the broker information:AutoPurchaseConsulting. If you don't want to use a broker you should be able to negociate $300 above invoice at a number of dealers in CA: Tustin, Carlsbad, Mission Viego (go through the fleet managers). I ended up buying. I found the broker got me better offers at some of these same dealers because of their contacts. Good Luck.
nolan123 - I just got back from CA with my G35X with premium package for 3200 off MSRP from Infiniti of Pleasenton. I flew down Sat morn to Oakland ($120 on SouthWest), took the BART to Pleasenton, where the dealer picked me up. I was done in an hour and driving off with the car. About 14 hours drive to Seattle. Alternative is to have them ship it for approx. 600. I paid CA sales tax and will only pay an incremental difference (if any) for WA state sales tax when I registor here.
My lease ends in May on my I 30 so I just ordered the car for a May arrival. I ordered the car at Lupient in Golden Valley, MN.....I ordered the car with just what the car comes with and no extra accesories. My deal was $2800 down and $380.00 a month for 39 months. The $2800 and the $380 includes all taxes and any thing else they want to charge me. There is no charge when I turn the car in at 39 months. I ordered Black with a black interior. I have tons of written info on the car if you are interested What do you all think of my deal?
I have been a lurker on this board for quite some time. I went to the dealer with research in hand. Long story short after a lot of double talk the dealer was telling me his actual cost (not Edmunds) was based on a 60 dollar fee for "warranty supplemental recovery" and a "Marketing Assessment" fee of 1.5% of the total cost of the car and destination charge. These fees added up to almost 1000 dollars over Edmunds invoice cost. Any thought would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance!
I have never heard of the "warranty supplemental recovery" and it seems reather fishy to me (though I am no car buying expert). The "Marketing Assesment Fee" could be a valid charge, as it varies by region. Wibble posted a while back (post #1092 in response to my question) that Infiniti may start adding 1.0 to 1.5% to the price of all cars for this. Regardless, that fee should not come close to $1000. Assuming a sticker price of $36 (incl. dest), plus the 60 "Warranty" fee, you would still only be at $600 at the 1.5% "Marketing Assesment Fee". If you have other dealers in the area to chose from, it never hurts to look around.
Bok, I think you need to hightail it over to our Doc Fees discussion and check out the conversation there. I agree, that's an odd fee and I'm sure the folks hanging out at that link will give you the the best feedback.

Local dealer has a 2003 G35 Sedan, 6-speed with Premium package on the lot. MSRP = $33,050 (Red with mats & splash guards). I believe invoice to be around $30,000 but the 2003 prices, incentives and rebates are not on Edmunds anymore. Where should I start my offer? Does anyone know what kind of incentives Infiniti is offering dealers for leftover 2003 sedans? My thought is to start $1,500 - $2,000 below invoice but I really want to know about the Incentives and true Invoice. Please Help!
I've been trying to get competitive quotes on a new 2004 G35 Coupe in SoCal - from Oxnard to San Diego, with several dealers including South Bay, Cerritos, Discover, Mission Viejo, Oxnard, Riverside . . .
the dealers are all being extremely cocky - Riverside sent me an MSRP list of all their coupes in stock, for instance, and said those are the prices, no negotiation . . . . Elswhere I've found one or two willing to knock $500 off MSRP, but when I suggested one dealer could do better, he told me to go buy it somewhere else. Is this normal?
I found one dealer near SD who offered $34k for the car above (MSRP is like $35,560) . . . that's the best deal I can find. Help?
Also nobody seems able to cut a better deal than 3.99% financing.
Purchased a G35 Coupe Auto with premium package and trunk mat for $1K over invoice on Feb 29. Not sure if this is the best deal I could get in the area, but dealer (Rosenthal at Tysons) was easy to deal with, no pressure and very convenient for me. They included wheel locks and two years of oil changes. They started at $1K under MSRP and moved the final position fairly quickly. Ran into hard resistance at that point.
Sounds like the folks in CA have the ability to get better deals than here, but coast to coast delivery is not an option :-).
They have quite a few G35 4 dr sedans on the lot and a lesser number of the coupes, split about 60/40 6 speed/automatic. Unfortunately they only had one in the color and specs I wanted, so my leverage was a bit limited. The closer took a simple no when she offered their "protection" packages at ridiculous prices and no argument. I was prepared to walk out right away of they started any high pressure sales stuff (as some had mentioned on this board), but none at all. We had test drivn the car the day before cam back the next day for the buy. Yet to see how the service is, but they say they hand wash the cars as opposed to the normal dealer car wash.
My other cars is an Acura TL from Pohanka and, while I like the dealership, the negotiating was a lot harder back in 2000 when I got that one.
restonham - In CA, it's tough to get the Coupes for 1000 under Sticker - most places still want MSRP. Sounds like you got a great deal.
devil - The negotiated price sounds pretty good, but the payments seem a bit off (~18). Did your negotiated price include the aquisition fee (545), marketing fee (400) and TTL (~300)? Still a decent deal, either way.
I must be reading these posts incorrectly - I had thought CA had fantastic prices which was why so many folks were willing to come from the NW and either have a long drive or pay shipping to home. I must have assumed the posts were about the coupes when they were sedans. I feel a little better (sorry about that) as I had thought it wasn't that great a deal, but the best I could do considering the popularity of the car.
Oh well, live and learn. It's my wife's car - I still like my big TL :-).
Which dealership in San Diego gave you that offer? I am also looking for the same car you are: Diamong Graphite / Graphite leather - premium package - performance tire
However an automatic, hoping to get a better deal. I live in Northern CA, and have found the prices barely moving below MSRP. the best being around $500. Also does anyone know of a Infiniti Dealership that allows VPP on the coupe in CA? The manager I spoke to said it was illegal to buy a car out of state. Which I think wasnt true. Any thoughts ?
I have checked it (used LeaseGuide.com lease calculator). Looks like I got exactly the same monthly payment amount). I had only $550 bank charge. BTW, the formula to calculate lease monthly payments is different from one for loan payment calculation as far as I know. Anyway, I had fun . I called Glendale Infiniti and said that Miller Infiniti offered me $505 for this car and asked if they could beat this price. Finally they agreed. Then I called Miller Infiniti and said that I was offered $490. Miller Infiniti said they could beat $490. Thousand Oaks Infiniti didn't want to talk prices over the phone. I called Glendale Infiniti again saying Miller Infiniti are willing to offer me less than $490. They don't like it, you know... . That's how I started... so I think I saved a lot of time talking over the phone instead of coming to the dealership and trying to avoid leasing this car for $560/48/12000. I could have got slightly better deal. My credit score is 756, but I didn't qualify for some Wells Fargo "elite" lease program with lower money factor because it was less than 5 years long. I got 15K mile/month instead.
Devil, Thanks. It sounds like you ended up purchasing the car. Do you mind telling me what was the price and specs of the car. I am very close to buying one as well. Thanks
Sorry Devil, I meant to send that message to cartman. I must have messed up the author's names. For Cartman or. What was the SD dealer that you dealt with. And has anyone else been able to get a coupe under MSRP in CA ?
No I haven't bought it yet - supposed to go buy it in the next few days - on the phone, dealer has assured me $34k plus tax/license/fees etc., will see if it's true when I show up and if they try to bone me on my trade-in to make up for it (in which case, I won't trade in).
Haven't found other dealers willing to negotiate much from MSRP yet. Closest was $34,250 for the same car. Will let you know if I buy it.
When I posted this originally, my negotiated price was wrong. I said it was $33,307 it was actually $32,757. It became $33307 after I decide to roll the Acq. Fee into the lease. Corrected numbers are below.
Hello all. Just closed the deal on my G35x. Bought it from Steven Infiniti in Wichita and had it shipped to Denver. The dealership in Denver is outrageous because they are the only one in the state.
Details: 2004 G35x Black with Willow Leather interior. Premium Package Splash guards Trunk mat Rear Spoiler MSRP: $36,220 Negotiated price: $32,757($100 over invoice)
Due at lease signing: $425.00 Security Deposit $418.50 First Month Payment $521.00 (Shipping from Wichita to Denver) $395.00 Rear Spoiler and install (Was $700, they split the cost with me)
Based on what I was offered in Denver, I figure that I saved $795.00 upfront (including what I paid for shipping) and about $1200 over the life of the lease based on money factor and residual I was offered. The car was shipped in a fully enclosed car trailer by itself, so that was a bonus. I could have flown to pick it up for about $150.00, but it was worth it to me to have it shipped. If you are looking for an Infiniti in Denver, I suggest you give these guys a shout. They are great. If you want the salesperson's name, email me.
anyone see a G35 with only leather? I figure it's probably not a popular one on the lot, but seems like the most affordable way to get into a really nice car.
Hi. I'm starting to look around for a new vehicle, the G35x All Wheel drive is on my list of possibilities. Has anyone bought from Cochran Infiniti in Monroeville? There's very few dealers in PA, Cochran being the only one in western PA. I'm willing to make the 3.5 hour drive to MD or Northern VA to save $$$ though, but would like to give my business to the local economy. How close to invoice is a good offer? I'm looking at All wheel drive and the premium package. thanks!!
I ended up buying my G35 Coupe. Here are the specs:
G35 Coupe - automatic Diamond Graphite / Graphite Leather -Premium Package -Performance Tire package - Trunk Mat - Splash Guards
MSRP is $35,560
I paid $34,000 -- plus tax (7.75%), license, and misc fees (CA's tire tax fee $5, doc fee $45, etc.). Total was $36,963.49 after everything.
Place bought: Discover Infiniti, in San Diego via their fleet/internet sales.
I got that price relatively early on from Discovery after sending a quote request to them via Edmunds and CarsDirect - they asked what it would take to buy from them, I said a competitive price. Discovery offered $34,200 or something and I countered $34 flat. Discovery agreed, and said something like "it's an amazing price and you won't find anyone to match it." They were right. I called Infiniti dealers (and emailed them) from Oxnard to Riverside to Costa Mesa, Mission Viejo, South Bay, etc.. Most of them told me to buy it at that price, that they wouldn't match it. The closest was Hoehn in Carlsbad, with an offer of $34,245. So I bought it from Discovery for $34k. They say they are trying to move volume through the dealership. They actually had to ship the car in as a dealer trade from Tustin. It had 8 miles on it (came down on a flatbed).
The whole signing process was relatively quick and efficient. Only bad part was a lowball on my trade-in, so I didn't trade in.
Oh yeah - they could match, but not meaningfully beat, my 3.99% financing.
Does anyone know what the incentives are for a leftover 03 sedan, 6-speed? My local dealership has one. I would like to know what incentives there are prior to negotiating? Or should I just use my supplier discount on an 04? Thank You.
I Just bought a G35 Sedan leather with premium package with a full spare tire. A also bought the sport package. The car comes with Goodyear Eagle GS D P215/55WR17 summer performance tires. I was surprised to find the full size spare the dealership plans to provide for me is a Cooper tire (not the same as the tires on the car). I was told not to drive far on the spare because although it will work on the rims, it is not a match to the others and the width is probably slightly different. This does not seem right to me. If I did not want an interchangeable full spare, I would have paid less money for the little donut tire. What experience did other buyers have getting a full size spare (or have you even looked to see if it was the same tire)?
That doesn't sound right at all. My G35x has a full-size spare with the same tire as my other four. The G35x comes with all-seasons, so I guess it *might* be different, but I doubt it. You should be getting a fully-interchangable wheel/tire.
I bought a G35 M6 sedan with a sunroof couple of weeks ago for $29,000, which is approximately five hundred above Edmund's invoice. The dealer was telling something about "market assessment fee" which he said was 400 in the bay area and is a part of the invoice. So according to the dealer I paid 100 over invoice.
Does anyone know what the "market assessment fee" is? Did the dealer lie that it's a part of invoice or didn't he?
I've posted about this in the FX35 forum already so apologies to those who have read about this stuff in there already.
If you look at the invoice that is sent to the dealer by Infiniti NA, you will see an item marked MA. This is the Marketing Assesment. It varies from state to state. It's $400 in Southern California. It is a geniune part of the invoice that the dealer has to pay. What confuses matters is that a lot of web sites, Edmunds included, do not include it in the invoice prices they quote. Because of these issues, Infiniti are, according to sources I trust, going to scrap the MA and raise prices by 1.4% instead at the beginning of April.
My local dealership has a new 03 6-speed sedan with Premium Package, trunk mat, splashguards. The MSRP is $33,315 with an advertised sales price of $29,313. 1.) Is that a good price for an 03 or should I try to negotiate more? 2.) Does anyone know what the incentives are for leftover 03's? 3.) At what price is it worth getting an 03 vs. using my supplier discount on an 04? Thank You.
At what price is it worth getting an 03 vs. using VPP (supplier discount) on an 04? If I can save $2,000 on an 03 vs. an 04 is that worth the extra depreciation? Thank You.
definitely get the 04 if possible, it has a some upgrades, like limited slip diff, and tire pres monitor. if you don't care so much about those, your deal on the leftover 03 sounds hard to beat, i think it is below invoice???
Visited a dealership last night to test drive a G35 (what a car!). I'm in the "evaluation" phase among cars and had not planned on buying until the summer after I had saved some more money. However, this particular dealer had a sedan in Caribbean Blue with willow interior. Apparently, that color is not very popular and he mentioned that it had been on the lot for 3 months! They had written on the windshield "make an offer." Obviously, I think they are starting to lose some money on the residual but I haven't seen any information on how long these cars have typically been on the lots before they're sold. Three months seems like an awefully long time. I'm curious to know what people's thoughts are on how low do you think I can get the price? I don't remember what pkgs. (if any) came on the car but I want to have an idea of what kind of deal I might be able to get so I can determine if it's even worth speaking with the salesman again. Thx.
I'm very interested in the G35 Coupe Diamond Graphite with premium, aero, and sport packages. I want to lease for 48 months, with a $2000 trade. 15K or 18K miles per year. Are there any dealers in the Chicagoland area that people have had a good experience? I'm leaning toward Infiniti of Orland Park. Does anyone have comments on this dealer? Thanks!
spiveygb - I can't be sure, but I'd say you could probably get it for invoice if it's a RWD (which I'm assuming). If you like the car it can't hurt to throw out a number below invoice and see if the dealer bites. Just be firm and willing to walk away and you'll likely get what you want.
What type of cash price should I expect to purchase a G35 Coupe with premium, aero, and sport packages? MSRP $36,000. Does purchasing a vehicle with cash make a big difference to dealers?
Test drove a coupe in NJ today, dealer seems willing to give me the coupe at 1k over invoice, the invoice prices matches edmunds invoice however they do have the $400 marketing assesement fee, I have heard this is legit is it true? Considering automatic coupe with just premium and possibly nav dealer will honor the 1k over price for any car in stock.
Cash v. financing shouldn't make much of a difference. If anything, the dealership may prefer you to finance, as they sometimes get kickbacks from the banks. You can always make sure there's no pre-payment penalty and simply pay the loan in full after 1 month.
I just bought the 04 G35 Sedan at $3 over Edmunds invoice price....yes $3!!!
March is the end of Infiniti's fiscal year....they are dying to sell cars by the end of this month...Make your offer and walk away!! You'll be surprised at what they'll accept.
I called another dealer with the offer I got and they told me it was below their invoice and they could not match it.
I live in the Northeast. I am currently deciding whether to purchase the Infiniti G35X vs an Acura TL. Any suggestions? I have not yet test driven the Acura. What would be an expected price to pay on the Infiniti with a premium package in the Boston market? THANKS
I got a scaled down version -- leather with sun roof only. Rec'd an email from a bay area dealer with an offer for $3,500 off MSRP for any G35 in stock. Another dealer matched it and the deal was done. The MSRP was $31,705 so I paid, $28,205 (the Edmunds invoice says $28,763 and the dealer invoice is roughly $29,100). Not too shabby!
My first non-European car. Will report back how it goes. Initial thoughts: much sportier than I remember during test drive. Not nearly as impressive as my 540i (which I traded in for $15.5K -- 7 years old with 81K miles) but given the massive price difference for a new one, it's a no-brainer. Great leather seats. Some wind noise and a little rougher on the freeway than a 540i but very similar to a 325i in terms of road feel. Looking forward to getting familiar with it.

1.) Is that a good price for an 03 or should I try to negotiate more?
2.) Does anyone know what the incentives are for leftover 03's?
3.) At what price is it worth getting an 03 vs. using my supplier discount on an 04?
Thank You.
Thank You.
Thanks!
Good luck!
Considering automatic coupe with just premium and possibly nav dealer will honor the 1k over price for any car in stock.
Sounds like a decent deal to me - any thoughts?
From what I'm reading on other forums. $1000 over invoice on a coupe is a good price.
March is the end of Infiniti's fiscal year....they are dying to sell cars by the end of this month...Make your offer and walk away!! You'll be surprised at what they'll accept.
I called another dealer with the offer I got and they told me it was below their invoice and they could not match it.
whether to purchase the Infiniti G35X vs an Acura TL. Any suggestions? I have not yet test driven the Acura. What would be an expected price to pay on the Infiniti with a premium package in the Boston market? THANKS
