I did a search of available G35 sedans at my local dealer and most of them are still 03's. The dealers website lists 4% over invoice cost for G35's (no mention of which year). I figure a leftover 03 should go for invoice or below. Has anyone here recently bought a leftover 03?
I am in the same area. WHo was the dealer?.. do you have contact. Dealers I have contacted will not budge off $35,000 zone for same car.
I am in a real quandry - I love my '01 525i but they have butchered the new model and I don't want to go down to a 3 series. I have read so many negative things about the G35x (interior finish poor, gas mileage, harsh brakes, design is cold) but I think it's the best value out there. I only only want it for three years (BMW MUST redesign 5 series by then). Should I do it?
WHat should I pay for G35x with premium package only? If anyone has a great deal in Baltimore area. please let me know contact...
redwards3 - just purchased a new G35x in the NYC area and traded a '99 328i in on it. The BMW definitely has a distinct feel and seemed lighter on its feet (not sure if a heavier 525i would feel the same way), but the G35 is definitely more powerful (probably MUCH more so than the 525i) and feels about as capable dynamically. Brake feel is about the same - both are touchy until you get used to them.
The "low-quality" interior has been, in my opinion, blown out of proportion. Go to a dealer and sit in a Graphite interior car. It's a pretty cool look and definitely a "high class" feel. Paired with Diamond Graphite on the outside I've already gotten several comments on the car from many different age groups. That said, the objective quality of materials is definitely a step below what was in my 328i, but not THAT dramatic of a difference. Check it out and make your own judgement.
I paid about $34k for my G35x with Premium Package. Didn't take much haggling. I might even have been able to get them lower. Not sure. I loved my 328i, but $34k from BMW will only buy you a 325ix with premium package and nothing else. It was tough to pass up the value of the G35x.
If you're interested in FWD, check out the new TL as well. VERY nice car, with a great interior...one that's nicer than either the BMW or G35's, IMHO. Dynamics aren't quite as good as either of those cars, but it's a heck of a car for the price.
I just purchased my new G35 Sedan with leather/Premium Package w/o FSS/Sport Suspension/Splash Guards/Trunk Mat from Infiniti South Bay in Torrance. I believe I bought the car from the same Internet/Fleet Dealer used by uscgirl. Thanks uscgirl for the tip. I bought the car for invoice $31349 and the ONLY additional charges were $50 (for doc prep and a state tax), $255 (for licensing/registration), and sales tax. In addition, I went for the 2.9 percent financing. There were NO additional finance charges (no doc fees, credit check, etc.). My experience with the purchase could have not of been better. I bought a great car at a great price. Can't wait to get back out on the road!!! Oh, with respect to the post about paying for the wheel locks, mine were included.
My local place has a flat discount of $3,500 on their remaining '03 G35 sedans according to the mailer they sent me this weekend. That makes their least expensive about $300 under invoice.
I live in the NY area and was looking around for prices...this is what i found so far for best price...39 month lease with 4500 down....440 a month with all options...navi...sport package...premium....aero...am i missing anything..what is that winter package i see in some peoples post... being that the winters here aren't good..i hear the car isn't well designed for the cold months...especially with 18 inch rims and no snow tires available
but for the price and options is that a good deal..all taxes included...
I am surprised they will even sell it to with the summer tires and that package, here in CO I don't even think they have one of those on the lot...Anyway, if you are going to go that route you should also be prepared to drop 1k on a good set of winter (not all-season) tires and an extra set of rims that you can switch out for winter and spring driving. Those summer tires are not made for winter driving. I've heard you can pick up a decent tire/wheel combo at costco.
On your pricing, use the calculators on this site to see if it is right, you should be within 20 bucks or so. IMHO, you're really wasting money if you put it down on a lease. If you put 4500 down, On a 39 month lease assuming a money factor of .0018 (4.32% annual) and a 60% residual(these are pretty accurate and recent) the difference in your payment would be about $64/month (not including taxes) or 2300 dollars over the life of the lease, so the question is where is the other 2200 you put down? In the dealers pocket. You are better off only paying what it takes to drive the car off the lot and keeping the rest of that money for insurance or other fees or your first 4 months payments or hell you could invest it conservatively and make more than 4.32% you are paying...this making sense? Good luck!
ya it is beyond me why they are selling this package for these winter months..it is like 13 degrees right now and i heard those summer tires are not good for weather under 45 degrees...i am thinking about switching over to the 17inch rims and trying out one winter with the all season tires on...or maybe just switch over to the acura TL with front wheel drive and save some money...infiniti requires 2500 down but i was putting more down to make my monthly payment less...i figured down the road a lower monthly payment would be easier
I was quoted $800 over invoice for an AWD sedan with Premium Package, Sirius, mats and splash guards (the last three options I could do without, but don't mind them that much) at Cerritos Infiniti (SoCal). After reading bernie4g35's post, I think I'll have to give South Bay a call, as well. Don't think they will well the AWD at invoice, but I can always ask
My main problem is that I am trading in a '97 Outback and they are not offing me much for it. I was planning on using the trade as a down on a lease to reduce the payments, but glevitt has a point. I'll have to look at the numbers again and maybe just sell the car on my own.
As for drive off costs for a lease, I was told I could drive off for as little as $775 with payments at about $490/mo - 36 mo; 15k mi/year; 59% residual; 0.00195 factor; state tax, destination and $550 bank fee included. The $550 bank fee was the same at several dealerships using IFS. Has anyone financed a lease at a dealership through another bank? The money factor isn't bad, but that $550 hurts. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.
Tonyg24 - since the dealers in Southern Cal will not negotiate (at least not more than a couple hundred) on the coupes, the 444/mo on the loaded coupe seems like a pretty decent deal.
tonyg24 - couple more things: I would question the required 2500 down for a lease. Typically you can roll everything into the lease if you wish. Most would pay, first mo., security deposit and processing fees up front to drive off the lot which should put you at about $1200-$1500. I understand what you are saying about lower payments, but you would still end up with more money if you saved your down payment and used it each month to pay the difference between the 440 and whatever your payment would come out to without a down payment.
Moerron - Have you looked at using an auto leasing service? Credit Unions have great ones if you are a member and there are independent one also. I have used my credit union and they are great. They get a good deal on the car, they give the automakers financing and lease programs versus theirs so you can pick which is best, you don't pay any of the tack on charges like the "bank fee" and the service is at no cost to you. Additionally you can do this all over the phone and you never have to deal with the dealership unless you want to take delivery there. Personally, I will NEVER buy from a dealer straight up again. This process is just too easy and enjoyable. You can at least check one of these services to get a quote with Infiniti's financing and see what charges you would end up paying going through them...my guess is that it would be less than what you've been quoted.
the only infiniti dealer in the seattle area is telling me that they do not move below sticker on g 35 coupes. anyone have recent seattle area experience(s)?
I'm beginning to believe we are cursed in the Northwest area (Washington, Oregon, Idaho) with too few Infiniti dealers. (Kirkland & Spokane, WA and Beaverton, OR). None of these subscribe to internet quotes. With limited dealerships, there is absolutely no competition and prices appear to be MSRP period. Anybody have success with decent pricing in the upper left hand corner of the US? I really like the G, but may find the TL to be a better deal price wise as Acura dealers are more plentiful up here in mildew meadows. (Not really looking for dissertation on which cars is better -- they are both pretty darn good, just trying to find reasonable pricing for a G)
I also was offered the invoice price from the fleet manager at Montclair Infiniti. My recommendation is to go to the Infiniti web page, find your car in the dealers inventory, then call up the fleet sales manager. Give him/her the vehicle VIN number and tell them you will buy it at invoice. I also was told by the fleet manager at Cerritos Infiniti that he would sell me any G35 (Sedan)in their inventory for inventory+$100. All else being equal, I would go with the Torrance Infiniti dealer (South Bay Infiniti) as I has such a good experience with my purchase. Good Luck!!
If you used Edmunds.com to research a vehicle you bought from a Denver-area dealership and would like to talk about your experience on camera Saturday, January 31, 2004, please contact jfallon@edmunds.com with your daytime contact information and the name of the dealership. Responses must be in by Friday, January 30, 2004 for consideration. Thanks! Jeannine Fallon PR Director Edmunds.com

Are you looking for a sedan or coupe? If sedan, there is absolutely no reason to pay msrp, I don't care where you are in the country. Check out freshalloy and look for "DFW Infiniti" at Grubbs Infiniti in Fort Worth, TX. They are selling sedans at close to invoice and will ship anywhere in the lower 48. Bought my 6MT sedan from him last July at very little over invoice. Give them a call, you won't regret it. DO NOT PAY MSRP for sedans!
looking for the coupe. sounds like from your response that while you can get a deal on a sedan, you may be stuck with msrp on a couple (especially in nw).
You are pretty much stuck with MSRP just about anywhere, right now. This should be changing pretty soon as there seems to be plenty of coupes on the lots now (at least in So Cal). One dealer I went to even had 5 of the exact same coupe (color, options, everything) in addition to the other 20+ coupes on the lot and would not negotiate on them. While they may still be selling well, they are not flying off the showroom floor faster than they can get more in - like they were last year at this time.
I stumbled across that via an Yahoo search on words that happened to be in there.
Unfortunately, it seems like I'm not getting the terms described there. Rather than being treated like an employee of a supplier to Nissan, I'm apparently being treated like a sponsored friend or family member of one. As a result, there's 2.5% dealer delivery fee added into the price instead of none. (The web site seems to indicate that either way, the dealer will get paid a 5% fee by Nissan to make it worth their while.)
So on Monday I'll have to call the VPP dept. and ask whether there is an error, or whether employees of suppliers only count like friends.
The bottom line is that a G35x with base + options invoice cost of $30,573 ends up $1,200 over that. (Base & options, less VPP discount, then add 2.5% delivery fee + destination fee + marketing assessment fee.) I'd sure like to get rid of that delivery fee. A bottom line of $1,200 over invoice doesn't sound so fantastic to me. (And then there'll be tags & taxes to pay on top of that.)
I am looking at the G35 sedan with or without AWD. It appears there are very few (i.e. none) message board claims of receiving good prices in the Northwest (WA, OR, ID). I live in Oregon which has no sales tax ( definitely a bonus). Washington waves their sales tax for Oregon residence. Hence, there is an incentive for me to buy in Oregon or Washington. Unfortunately nobody seem to offer anything other than MSRP. I see G35s on the road up here in the NW, so somebody has had to buy one here. Anybody out there?
I leased a G35X yesterday from Jim Coleman Infiniti. Premium Package with Full Size Spare; Wood Trim and Splash Guards. MSRP $36,075. VPP Price: $33230.85. I ended up leasing it with nothing down; 48 month lease; 10,000 miles a month. Price with lease tax is $523.88 month. I feel like that was high, but Inifinit finance said that was the best they could do. Any thoughts appreciated on other lease deals folks have received on their leases since the Money Factor here seems high (around 7.75%).
I am paying about $530 a month for my 2004 G35s w/Premium package+wood+minor things. Surely G35x is more expensive than G35s, but only couple of thousand, right? I wouldn't pay that much for a lease!
Is that $530 a month with nothing down? If so, sounds like you got a great deal. To get the purchase price down to around $500 a month with 2.9% interest, I would need to put $7,000 down. Chose the lease since I would rather free up the cash for investments rather than sinking it into a quickly depreciating asset.
I checked with Nissan. Employees of supplier companies are "Business Associates" (claim #'s begin with a "D"); they are not employees of Nissan or its various affiliates (owned companies & companies jointly mfg with them). The web site was intended for employees and their families/friends.
Business Associates seem to get the same deal as sponsored family/friends get as described on that web site.
The dealer gets a 5% profit under the VPP. If the buyer is a Nissan employee, Nissan pays the whole amount. But mere Business Associates have to pay half of that that dealer profit themselves.
$30,573 - 1.65% + 2.5% = $260 over invoice cost, + $550 destination chg + $400 advertising = or about $1200 above invoice cost overall. Still, this is much much better than any discount my AAA club can get for me on the AWD, and this kind of discount is even better than the AAA club discount price of $600 over invoice for non-AWD models plus destination + advertising.
So I guess it's a good deal, just not as good as it first sounded.
It seems like I have narrowed my search down to the South Bay and Cerritos Infiniti dealers. I got quotes from a couple other dealers as well, but they seemed to keep tacking on misc charges. Now I just need to get my car back from the shop and sell it.
For those that have leased or purchased, was the advertizing fee ($400) tacked on? For those that leased, you have to pay a $550 bank fee to IFS, but did you also have to pay the $45 doc fee?
g35_wang - I am also curious if you are purchasing or leasing and how much you put down and what the terms were.
stockwatch - your terms don't seem too far off, though you should have been able to get more mileage for that price. The "no down" was a nice bonus, though.
Thanks for all the info and feedback. I hope to be driving a G35x within the next couple of weeks.
Out of door price was 33900. My loan terms are 60 month and 4.9% from my credit union. I did put 5000 down though, and the monthly payment is 546 (in my last post, I thought it is close to 530, sorry).
Still about the same as your lease terms. Think about it, after 5 years (56 more month), it's all mine. I understand why some people want to lease, but I also saw some many of them ending up buying the car at the end of the lease (otherwise they have to pay for extra milage). Is your lease for only 10K miles/year? Man, watch out, 10K is nothing even for me whose daily commute is only 15 miles (round trip). In my 4.5 month of ownership, I already have 5200 miles on it.
Advertizing fee? Never heard of it in my negotiation. DO NOT pay it.
Doc fee of 45? I paid 90, so 45 is not bad at all. But, that was the only fee I paid.
Here we go again. The MA is a regional charge (it varies from place to place) levied on each car by Infiniti. It is part of the invoice sent by Infiniti to the dealership for each car. The invoice prices on Edmunds and KBB do not reflect this charge. The ones on Carsdirect do. Rumour has it that Infiniti have decided to scrap this charge by the end of March 2004 and raise the invoice price on all cars by 1.0 to 1.5% instead.
Great deal on 2004 G35,diamond graphite/graphite int.-sport pkg, premium pkg.,aero pkg. leather, $410/month- $600 down. no joke! Dealer in NJ. Email me and i will give you the name of the salesman who helped me. It was a great experience also!!!
Since there are very few dealers in the northwest, it is almost impossible to get a quote for much less than MSRP for a sedan. But I am considering purchasing in California (& just driving it back) where I've been quoted prices around 500 over invoice. The salesperson at the dealership near me told me if I do that and the car has any problems, they will not support me! Can anyone confirm this - should I be seriosly concerned about that?
It's BS - they have to cater to your every warranteed whim at any dealership regardless of where you purchased. I would never buy from them if they play that way tho.
I bought my 2004 G35 sedan from South Bay infiniti and I went ahead with IFS financing. I put $3500 down to cover tax and registration and qualified for 3.9%. In regards to your previous question:
1. Ad fees are legitimate and included on the invoice, my advice (and what I did) was negotiate the price to where I wanted it and make sure that it includes the "ad fee".
2. I did not pay $550 fee to IFS, is that a new fee? I just got my car on 1/12/04
3. I did pay the $45 doc fee.
I also had to choose between Cerritos and South Bay and found that in the final phase of price negotiations, the fleet manager at Cerritos wasn't as flexible on price as was South Bay.
Bernie4g35- did you work with Nichole at South Bay? Good to hear that other people also had great and painless experiences with South Bay.

my email is displayed. just sign in with your user name and password first, THEN the email should show up. I would email you, but your email is indeed private. Let me know if you encounter any problems. I would love to help out another infiniti shopper. Oh, I'm sure you know the deal is on a lease, right!
Maybe if you purchased your vehicle in one country e.g. Canada, they could choose to not honor the warranty in the States, but to tell you that if you buy in another state is BS.
Besides, the service department is like a separate company with separate book keeping - they don't give a rats [non-permissible content removed] where you bought your car - they make the same coin regardless of what State or city you purchased it in.
1. You can buy your car in California without having to travel all the way there. $650 will cover the shipping. Try Riverside Infiniti. They do '04s for $500 over I believe.
2. Any Infiniti dealer has to offer service on the cars.
Thanks for your comments on my previous post. I will be buying in California & bringing it home to the NW. I've talked to several dealers in the San Fran Bay Area - price from one is $500 over manuf invoice; price from another is $3,200 off MSRP. One said he has seen several buyers from the NW. BTW, Portland was the worst quote I've seen with inflated price over MSRP as they add sealents and leather treatment, etc. (for $1,400 extra cost!) Why would anyone buy in a G35 in the NW?
OK, so get a better deal in Calif as opposed to the rip-off dealers in Oregon (only one). But if you buy in Calif and stipulate registration and use in Oregon, can you escape the Calif sales tax?
Just picked up diamond graphite / graphite G35x in Northern NJ. Non-premium package with moonroof, splash guards, trunk mat for $31,300 (MSRP $33,670) plus TTL.

You did not include the VPP discount in your calculations (which is 1.65% of the invoice price, or roughly $544 ).
