Thanks.
I am in a real quandry - I love my '01 525i but they have butchered the new model and I don't want to go down to a 3 series. I have read so many negative things about the G35x (interior finish poor, gas mileage, harsh brakes, design is cold) but I think it's the best value out there. I only only want it for three years (BMW MUST redesign 5 series by then). Should I do it?
WHat should I pay for G35x with premium package only? If anyone has a great deal in Baltimore area. please let me know contact...
The "low-quality" interior has been, in my opinion, blown out of proportion. Go to a dealer and sit in a Graphite interior car. It's a pretty cool look and definitely a "high class" feel. Paired with Diamond Graphite on the outside I've already gotten several comments on the car from many different age groups. That said, the objective quality of materials is definitely a step below what was in my 328i, but not THAT dramatic of a difference. Check it out and make your own judgement.
I paid about $34k for my G35x with Premium Package. Didn't take much haggling. I might even have been able to get them lower. Not sure. I loved my 328i, but $34k from BMW will only buy you a 325ix with premium package and nothing else. It was tough to pass up the value of the G35x.
If you're interested in FWD, check out the new TL as well. VERY nice car, with a great interior...one that's nicer than either the BMW or G35's, IMHO. Dynamics aren't quite as good as either of those cars, but it's a heck of a car for the price.
Best of luck!
Oh, with respect to the post about paying for the wheel locks, mine were included.
but for the price and options is that a good deal..all taxes included...
On your pricing, use the calculators on this site to see if it is right, you should be within 20 bucks or so. IMHO, you're really wasting money if you put it down on a lease. If you put 4500 down, On a 39 month lease assuming a money factor of .0018 (4.32% annual) and a 60% residual(these are pretty accurate and recent) the difference in your payment would be about $64/month (not including taxes) or 2300 dollars over the life of the lease, so the question is where is the other 2200 you put down? In the dealers pocket. You are better off only paying what it takes to drive the car off the lot and keeping the rest of that money for insurance or other fees or your first 4 months payments or hell you could invest it conservatively and make more than 4.32% you are paying...this making sense? Good luck!
My main problem is that I am trading in a '97 Outback and they are not offing me much for it. I was planning on using the trade as a down on a lease to reduce the payments, but glevitt has a point. I'll have to look at the numbers again and maybe just sell the car on my own.
As for drive off costs for a lease, I was told I could drive off for as little as $775 with payments at about $490/mo - 36 mo; 15k mi/year; 59% residual; 0.00195 factor; state tax, destination and $550 bank fee included. The $550 bank fee was the same at several dealerships using IFS. Has anyone financed a lease at a dealership through another bank? The money factor isn't bad, but that $550 hurts. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.
Tonyg24 - since the dealers in Southern Cal will not negotiate (at least not more than a couple hundred) on the coupes, the 444/mo on the loaded coupe seems like a pretty decent deal.
Moerron - Have you looked at using an auto leasing service? Credit Unions have great ones if you are a member and there are independent one also. I have used my credit union and they are great. They get a good deal on the car, they give the automakers financing and lease programs versus theirs so you can pick which is best, you don't pay any of the tack on charges like the "bank fee" and the service is at no cost to you. Additionally you can do this all over the phone and you never have to deal with the dealership unless you want to take delivery there. Personally, I will NEVER buy from a dealer straight up again. This process is just too easy and enjoyable. You can at least check one of these services to get a quote with Infiniti's financing and see what charges you would end up paying going through them...my guess is that it would be less than what you've been quoted.

I stumbled across that via an Yahoo search on words that happened to be in there.
Unfortunately, it seems like I'm not getting the terms described there. Rather than being treated like an employee of a supplier to Nissan, I'm apparently being treated like a sponsored friend or family member of one. As a result, there's 2.5% dealer delivery fee added into the price instead of none. (The web site seems to indicate that either way, the dealer will get paid a 5% fee by Nissan to make it worth their while.)
So on Monday I'll have to call the VPP dept. and ask whether there is an error, or whether employees of suppliers only count like friends.
The bottom line is that a G35x with base + options invoice cost of $30,573 ends up $1,200 over that. (Base & options, less VPP discount, then add 2.5% delivery fee + destination fee + marketing assessment fee.) I'd sure like to get rid of that delivery fee. A bottom line of $1,200 over invoice doesn't sound so fantastic to me. (And then there'll be tags & taxes to pay on top of that.)
Craig
You did not include the VPP discount in your calculations (which is 1.65% of the invoice price, or roughly $544 ).
Business Associates seem to get the same deal as sponsored family/friends get as described on that web site.
The dealer gets a 5% profit under the VPP. If the buyer is a Nissan employee, Nissan pays the whole amount. But mere Business Associates have to pay half of that that dealer profit themselves.
$30,573 - 1.65% + 2.5% = $260 over invoice cost, + $550 destination chg + $400 advertising = or about $1200 above invoice cost overall. Still, this is much much better than any discount my AAA club can get for me on the AWD, and this kind of discount is even better than the AAA club discount price of $600 over invoice for non-AWD models plus destination + advertising.
So I guess it's a good deal, just not as good as it first sounded.
Craig
Just my opinion. (I wouldn't calculate the dest and assessment in it).
For those that have leased or purchased, was the advertizing fee ($400) tacked on? For those that leased, you have to pay a $550 bank fee to IFS, but did you also have to pay the $45 doc fee?
g35_wang - I am also curious if you are purchasing or leasing and how much you put down and what the terms were.
stockwatch - your terms don't seem too far off, though you should have been able to get more mileage for that price. The "no down" was a nice bonus, though.
Thanks for all the info and feedback. I hope to be driving a G35x within the next couple of weeks.
Still about the same as your lease terms. Think about it, after 5 years (56 more month), it's all mine. I understand why some people want to lease, but I also saw some many of them ending up buying the car at the end of the lease (otherwise they have to pay for extra milage). Is your lease for only 10K miles/year? Man, watch out, 10K is nothing even for me whose daily commute is only 15 miles (round trip). In my 4.5 month of ownership, I already have 5200 miles on it.
Advertizing fee? Never heard of it in my negotiation. DO NOT pay it.
Doc fee of 45? I paid 90, so 45 is not bad at all. But, that was the only fee I paid.
Hope these helps.
anyone know the dates of the Chicago Auto show... I'm thinking of taking a run down there?
Rumour has it that Infiniti have decided to scrap this charge by the end of March 2004 and raise the invoice price on all cars by 1.0 to 1.5% instead.
I bought my 2004 G35 sedan from South Bay infiniti and I went ahead with IFS financing.
I put $3500 down to cover tax and registration and qualified for 3.9%. In regards to your previous question:
1. Ad fees are legitimate and included on the invoice, my advice (and what I did) was negotiate the price to where I wanted it and make sure that it includes the "ad fee".
2. I did not pay $550 fee to IFS, is that a new fee? I just got my car on 1/12/04
3. I did pay the $45 doc fee.
I also had to choose between Cerritos and South Bay and found that in the final phase of price negotiations, the fleet manager at Cerritos wasn't as flexible on price as was South Bay.
Bernie4g35- did you work with Nichole at South Bay? Good to hear that other people also had great and painless experiences with South Bay.
Thanks!!
Besides, the service department is like a separate company with separate book keeping - they don't give a rats [non-permissible content removed] where you bought your car - they make the same coin regardless of what State or city you purchased it in.
Do you know the timeframe for the opening of the infiniti dealer in Tacoma?
Thanks
1. You can buy your car in California without having to travel all the way there. $650 will cover the shipping. Try Riverside Infiniti. They do '04s for $500 over I believe.
2. Any Infiniti dealer has to offer service on the cars.
do you mind emailing me the info. you have discovered re bringing your g35 coupe back to the nw from california?
