This was what I was wondering about. Do sites like carsdirect.com generally come back with a better price than just going to the dealers direct? Are there any advantages to using a site like carsdirect? Any info on experiences people have had would be a appreciated.
Is this a good deal? I will go to the dealer this weekend to check out.
(in toronto). I guess its a case of more cars available and less people interested. Cold weather probably has something to do with it. I'm told this kind of deal will not likely be offered come spring.
It is Infiniti of Oxnard in Oxnard, CA. The guy will call me this Friday to schedule a time to meet in the weekend. I will find out if they will make on their words.

When people talk about getting a G35 at invoice plus X number of dollars, are they figuring in the $400 ad fee?
In other words, in the example above, am I getting the car at $200 over invoice plus the ad fee, or am I getting the car at $600 over invoice?
I know they add up to the same, but I am trying to compare this deal with other deals mentioned on this board. Thanks
I wasn't, but the dealer was <g>. He told me $500 over invoice, so I did all my calculating and ciphering, and came up with my ideal price. His ideal price included the $400 ad fee (Chicago area), and I could not make it go away.
(It was printed on the invoice.)
Anyway, when all was said and done, I paid $162 over my ideal price, so I was very happy.
I am new to the board and recently discovered the G35 discussions. My husband and I have been searching for new car options for the past few months and test drove some of the models in Lexus' line. Last week we finally had a close encounter with a G35 and we both LOVED it! We test drove it at Cerritos Infinity and the sales person who helped us was very amiable and there was no pressure. Naturally, after the test drive it was time for some serious research on prices, options, etc. I submitted online requests through Edmunds, Cars Direct, through my credit union's buying service, through Costco's buying service, and through a great website- Autosfleet.com
Within 24 hours I received responses from several dealerships close to my house, but a lot of them were just emails asking me to call them. I did get a lone email directly from the fleet manager from one of the dealerships and he included his price for the car in the email and it was invoice, so it was a great start.
A week later (today), this is basically were I'm at with pricing:
I will be purchasing within two weeks a G35 RWD sedan in Twilight Blue with Willow leather including the Premium Package with the Sport Suspension/Pckg. and has the mats/splash guards.
MSRP: 34,240
Invoice: 30,901
My "quoted" price was $31,000
I think that's great because I can save $3240 off sticker and with the dealer-hold back, the dealer makes roughly $1000.
Sorry for such a long post...my whole point is that all the buying advice from Edmunds really works, the dealers really don't bother with all the B.S. if you go straight to the fleet department or Internet Sales, they know you the "internet consumer" are already aware of their true pricing. By the way, all my local dealers that I have spoken to were accomodating, but Cerritos and Torrance had the best and most straightforward pricing.
Good Luck to everyone and I hope to be driving my new G35 soon!
That final price was inclusive of the ad fee and was at Infiniti Torrance. They have the exact car on the lot, so as a customer I have some leverage because they need to move the inventory out and get their holdback from the manufacturer.
I was also told today (I don't know if it true) that this is a great time to buy because the dealers are fully stocked for the New Year and need to sell fast to meet quotas, etc...
Hope this helps....if you need anymore info, let me know!
BTW, does anyone know for sure what the Infinity dealer holdback is. I read somewhere it was 2% and then a dealer told me it was 1.5%
Thanks
Link: Dealer Holdback.
Is this a common complaint, or am I the first one to bring this up? What's the likelihood that Infiniti would offer the manual transmission with the base model in the 2005 or later model?
That link will get you there directly!
The latest email ad from Pleasanton Infiniti advertises $3,200 off MSRP on the G35 Sedan (the same deal I was offered and eventually got). The email says this price is good until the end of January. As I stated in my original post, Pleasanton Infiniti didn't have the G35 Sedan in the color and options I wanted. Redwood City Infiniti matched the $3,200 off MSRP offer (after I provided them with a copy of the email ad from Pleasanton). So, I bought my car from Redwood City.
If you want to get this deal on the G35 Sedan in Northern California: Make email inquiries about the G35 Sedan to Pleasanton Infiniti (or sign up on their web site) in order to get on their email list. Then, once you have the offer in hand, call up the internet sales department at Pleasanton and see if they have the car you want in stock. If they don't have it, you can ask other dealerships to match the offer (I assume Redwood City will match it again).
I hope this helps some shoppers out there.
I bought it through the fleet manager at South Bay Infiniti (Torrance) and here is the info...
G35 with leather, Premium Package, Sport Suspension for $31,366 + tax/license/registration.
I saved almost $3k off MSRP and the dealer made about $1000, if not more (I'm not totally sure there isn't any other holdbacks/incentives, etc.)By the way, they were straightfoward, no b.s. and very nice and helpful. Excellant customer service at all the Infiniti dealerships we have dealt with, so far my experiance with Infiniti has been great.
I first did my homework and got invoice and holdback prices, and checked stock on the infinity website. No 6MT sedans at either of the 2 dealers near me. They each had 40+ 5ATs, though! Are the 6MTs really in demand, are are the dealers just stupid and not ordering any sticks? I find one 6MT in Colma and 3 6MTs in Pleasanton. The one in Colma is the exact color and options I want (Silver/Black w/Premium), and I find there is only one other like it in San Diego almost 400 miles away.
I saw alistaircookie's post (#1036) about the pleasanton 3200 off MSRP deal so I signed up and got them to email me the special: 3200 off MSRP and 1.9% financing off any G35 sedan in stock. I printed it out to use for haggling with the Colma dealer. Thanks for the info, alistaircookie!
I had planned my negotiating strategy, to ask Colma to match the deal or I would go to Pleasanton and just buy one there. I wasn't going to let them know pleasanton didn't have the right colors or options in stock. I was ready for the whole "its in demand, its the only 6MT you'll find in CA we only have one, 6MTs go for MSRP, etc".
So I call up Colma, verify they have the car, and schedule an appt to drive it (I hadn't driven a G35 stick yet so I wasn't sure I'd like it). I show up, drive it, like it, and sit down at the dreaded negotiating table. All the salespeople are whispering "it's the appointment guy" to each other (I guess that impressed them). First words out of their mouth, its on sale for MSRP-3288 (that's $30157, $54 below invoice). Sold!
I politely turn down all the paint protection, ext warranties, etc. and drive it home with 1.9% infinity financing and the only dealer fee being a $45 doc prep fee. Out the door at $32939.
I highly recommend the dealership in Colma!
You might want to stop by the general Infiniti G35 discussion to see if the folks there have any thoughts.
2004 Infinity G35X AWD, Black with Black leather interior, Premium package, full size spare, trunk mat. MSRP 35705.00. Your Internet price will be 33550.00 + tax, tags, 299 processing fee.
Any views on whether this is a good offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thx
What is this? The usual document fee is $45. This looks like a bogus tack-on. I would definitely question it.
On the price, the invoice on that spec is $32,570 so we're looking at $980 over invoice. On an AWD that's not bad.
A word to everyone else. Keep an eye out for stuff like this. Any documentation fee over $50, wheel locks for $200, all season floor mats for $200, chromed factory wheels for $3995, etc. are all money makers for the dealer and shouldn't be tolerated. As well as asking for a price over invoice, get an "out the door" price and get it confirmed in writing. If taking finance, take a calculator with you and check the numbers. I don't know how many times people I know have told me they got a great $200 over invoice dealer or the like just to get charged $5000 for a $1000 worth of add-ons they didn't need in the first place.
Great advice about getting an 'out the door' price. Up to this point, I had basically been talking around the invoice price, not thinking about the other downstream cost implications.
After deciding to go with the G35 sedan, I thought I would try the Costco Auto Buying program. Lexus offered Invoice+$200. Then I went to Colma Infiniti through Costco Auto Program, and the Costco deal was Invoice+$1000. The dealer indicated that he would be willing to deal, but it would still required some negotiation.
Then I saw the post by alistaircookie on this BB.
So I sent email messages to all Bay area dealers through the dealer web sites. Got a response from a couple of them, one even looked up my number and left me a phone message. Included was the message from Pleasanton dealer about the $3200 off MSRP. Looked around the web sites, and found that only Pleasanton had the Silver/Grey with Sunroof. Went 01/19 morning to talk to them, and they offered the "Internet" offer. Signed the paperwork and picked it up that same evening.
Finally, it did not turn out to be a dreadful experience that I was afraid of.
Thanks to all for the information here.
