Central NJ dealer offered 04 sedan for 36200. that includes splash guard/wood trim & also free car washes/ 1st service. Is this a good deal?
  • klayfishklayfish Member Posts: 48
Is the dealer called "Central"? That sounds like a very good deal at this point, since the cars are just coming out. I live near Philly, am looking for a deal like that. Remember, you cannot post the name of the sales person, but you can give the dealership name. PLEASE share.

Both dealer offered me the same deal: Circle infiniti & Ray Catena in Edison. Sorry for delay , I just opened Edmunds.

For an 04 G35 sedan with either premium package or just leather/sunroof, any thoughts on the discount to MSRP I can expect? Thanks.
  • klayfishklayfish Member Posts: 48
I guess it may depend on your location. For the RWD sedan, here were the best deals I was offered.

    Auto trans/sunroof/bose audio/spoiler- $30,600

    Auto trans/Premium package/spoiler- $31,900

    Best of luck.

Just completed deal on a new red coupe with base leather, premium package, splash guards, mats, XM radio,& wheel locks, at $1,100 over invoice or about $3400 off MSRP. Dealer threw in free oil changes for the life of the car,IF, I got all service done at the dealership. I got about $1500 more on my 300M trade than it was worth, which sealed the deal.

Another dealer had offered a last day of the month deal of only $500 over invoice at the end of October but I could not nail down trade value on the 300M. Did not buy.

Put on about 150 miles over the weekend and the car actually exceeded my expectations. The seating was comfortable and the car handled like a dream.

I test drove a Mazda RX8 back to back with the G35 and in my opinion there was no comparison. Keep in mind, the RX comes in about $3000 less, so I was not surprised. The 350Z I drove was just was to harsh on secondary roads, though a great looking car.

Over all I'm happy with my decision and appreciated everyone sharing their buying experiences. The posts were invaluable in picking the car and waiting for the best deal.

Adnips...........PS Supply should start to catch up on demand, and Dec/Jan/February should see better deals than mine. Good luck!

I left a deposit today on a 2004 G 35 AWD, NAV and Premium, splash guards too.. I am paying $1,000 over invoice so my final price is $35,500. I made the purchase at Infiniti of Massapequa on LI. Brilliant Silver with graphite leather
  • clpurnellclpurnell Member Posts: 1,083
I would be very interested in the actual number you got for your 300M (also year miles etc) as I am looking at trading mine very soon.
  • klayfishklayfish Member Posts: 48
By LI, do you mean Long Island? Sorry for the ignorance. I am near Philly, and the dealers here won't come near that price. I'll travel to Long Island if I can get that kind of deal.
  • msilver813msilver813 Member Posts: 7
Yes it is in Long Island. Nassau County.
  • adnipsadnips Member Posts: 36
clpurnell.......I received $9500 on my 2000 300M which was in excellent condition but had over 83,000 miles on it. Though I researched several used car sites, including Kelly Blue Book, nadaguides, Edmunds, & cars direct,I felt galves.com gave me the most realistic value which was just under $8000.00. This is a service many car dealers subscribe to & rely on for their trade ins. It cost me about $5.00 for access to their values for 24 hours. Knowing the REAL value of my trade made it easier to determine if the dealer I was working with was being reasonable. In any event, though I had lower quotes for the G35C, the trade value was also less. Combined, I got what I thought was a fair deal. Adnips.........PS How do you like the FX 35? Right now I'm leaning towards the Murano.
  • clpurnellclpurnell Member Posts: 1,083
Thanks for the info I have an '01 with 46k and seeing trade in values in the 12's. Some depreciation hit huh? I absolutely love my FX. The murano is very nice but wife didn't like it nearly as much as the FX. IF you need extra space go with the MO if you want that coupe feel with "a backpack" go for the FX. Also the longer warranty, service loaners etc steered me towards the FX. Have fun in that coupe :)

Anyone done a deal for a G35 Coupe 6MT in the San Francisco Bay Area recently? Will they negotiate?
  • msbuschmsbusch Member Posts: 2
Can anyone comment on how the G35 is in snow, ice, etc.? I live in Colorado and am interested in the car, but unsure of the wisdom of buying a RWD car in this climate. I notice that up till now I have never seen a G35 on the road in this area. I am sure the AWD will change that, but not really interested in paying list, or above. Love the car, but am leaning towards a Mercedes AWD C class, or possibly looking at the Acura TL. The problem with the C class is that even with the larger engine, it is no match for the G35 in terms of speed off the line.

    Welcome to the Town Hall!

A better place to find that information is our ongoing Infiniti G35 discussion. This particular discussion is a dedicated place for folks to share prices they paid and experiences they had in the process of buying a G35.

Actually, your question comes up frequently. All you need to do is follow the link I gave you and use the "Search This Discussion" box (on the page bar) for "snow" and you'll get lots of information in return. And that is the best discussion in which to post any other questions you may have.

Good luck and again, welcome - if I can help you find your way around the Town Hall, feel free to drop me an email.

Did you try Willow Grove? I am not touting anyone here. I sold Infiniti for 3 years and have since moved over to Lexus. My dealership was in the Lehigh Valley. Looking for the best price, the one in Lehigh Valley is not worth your time and effort. But by being in the business I know who the best dealers are. They may not be the absolute best price, but they certainly are the best price/quality of service combo in the PA-NY-NJ area. I know the people that work down there, and they know how to do business the right way. I've been out of it for a while, but I believe it hasn't changed. Good luck with your purchase. And if you need the name of any of the people working down there, and the host doesn't mind, let me know. Otherwise, check out the info on the new AWD GS from Lexus.
  • chrisbothchrisboth Member Posts: 493
Has done well for me in both service and sales. Let me know if you need a name.
  • klayfishklayfish Member Posts: 48
I'm actually finding that none of the dealers here in PA are willing to deal. Looks like I'm going to wind up going to NJ to get the car. I've got a price of $34,400, and just trying to get a good price for my Acura trade in.

Willow Grove is a great dealership. I like the sales guy I'm dealing with, but they just aren't offering me much for trade-in.

New AWD GS? Didn't know there was such thing.
  • chrisbothchrisboth Member Posts: 493
Our friends at Lexus and Infiniti in in for good times as long as there are no major events that shake the outlook. All indicators point up and the stock market hasn't gone up in 4 years. Well recieved luxury cars go for sticker I think very soon everywhere. Except M45.

Hello, what does everyone think of this lease deal: 2004 G35 Sedan, Premium pkg., sports pkg., and aero pkg. 39 months, 12k/year. $600 down, $395/ month. Silver with graphite interior. Please let me know if this is a good deal. I live in NJ. And also, what is everyone paying for insurance?

Cancelled my order from last week and found the car in ttwilight blue with twillow. The car has NAV, Premium Package, splash gurad, mats and wood trim. Paid 35,300 or 500 over invoice. THis was at Atlantic Infiniti in Lynbrook. I went to Millenium in Manhasset and my advice is stay away. They are into high pressure sales techniques and they offered the car at 500 under MSRP and laughed at my offer of 500 over invoice. Good luck to all and I cant wait to get my car. my opinion

Just put our deposit down on my wife's G35X AWD

We got the Premium Package and a spoiler. Price is $34,200. They have the cars now and we are taking delivery on Friday. Pretty good deal considering it is just hitting the market.

    Infiniti of Willow Grove.

My local dealer is advertising an '03 Coupe auto at $1500 off MSRP. This is the first time I've seen a new coupe discounted in southern California. Anyone seen anything else?
  • buckeye3dbuckeye3d Member Posts: 5
'03 is last years model. The '04s have been out for some time now.

I'm shopping around for a car that will be a good combination of my very recently sold 1973 911T and my 1990 Accord. No garage in new house and 2 kids forced the sale of the 911 and the Honda has done me good service for 13 years.
I test drove a 6MT Sedan G-35 and really got into it. Felt much more in tune with it than with the IS300. I also looked at an RX-8, but feel it is overpriced for what Mazda offers with it. Other contenders are a 9-3 (FWD though) etc...
I've been reading about the brake issues, is this going to be a problem as well with 04's?
The biggest question is what is the scoop on dealers/deals around Norfolk, VA. I test drove the car at Charles Barker, but would love to hear input on any dealer within reasonable distance besides them.
    Thanks in advance.

My brother just bought his G35. It was a 4 door automatic w/Leather. Invoice was 28,208. He paid $27,500. Is that a good deal? Whats the going rate for the G35 now days?
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
Yes I know that. However in Southern California it is next to impossible to get anyone to discount any coupe.
  • chrisbothchrisboth Member Posts: 493
sources for indpendent ratings and statistics for reliability and customer satisfaction. Take a look at who is where and then decide whether the Problems Board should be the place to base a purchased decision. Take a look at the mercedes boards or BMW boards.
  • leppslepps Member Posts: 4
That sounds like a great buy there. was it a
    2003 or 2004 model ? also location/dealer ??
I'm in southern california and am looking to buy the 2004 sedan with auto and leather in 2 weeks. any info would be great help.
I've been getting quotes for abt $700 above invoice.
  • jonnysnakesjonnysnakes Member Posts: 2
He bought it at a dealer in Northern California. It was Nov. 30th, and was slightly raining. This was for a 2004 Infiniti G35, Obsidian black. I imagine SoCal dealers should be able to at least match that.
  • larrypikelarrypike Member Posts: 1
I am negotiating on an AWD with Premimum Package. So far the dealer is only discounting about $500. (AWDs haven't even arrived at the dealer as yet) Is anyone in the Intermountain West finding better deals?
  • fszatkofszatko Member Posts: 4
I'm in the Chicago area and have been looking for a deal on the 2004 G35x AWD - no deals around here. Everyone laughed at any offer less than 5%($1500) over invoice. Most would settle for MSRP or maybe a deal on accessories. A satisfied customer in an earlier post mentioned Atlantic Infiniti in Lynbrook, NY had given $500 over invoice. I emailed their internet sales manager and was immediately given the same deal - $500 over invoice (plus a $200 transfer fee since Twilight Blue with Graphite needed to be transferred in if I wanted to take deliver before 2004). I'm going to NY for a quick $150 flight to pickup my 2004 G35x AWD with Premium package in a few weeks. No hassles. No sales pitch. Great dealings so far. They're even going to pick me up from the airport and drive me to the dealership for final paperwork and delivery. All together including sale price, transfer and airline ticket - $850 over invoice - approximately $2400 less than any dealer within 150 miles of Chicago - and I get a brief 2 day vacation to NY and back. They're for real if you're willing to travel.

One Chicago dealer even called me back basically begging for the sale but still wouldn't match the price - wants the maximum $$$ instead of the volume sales.

I'm trying to make a deal on a G35 six-speed manual. Beautiful car, but the dealer here (southern california) wants $1000 to $1500 OVER MSRP. They say that's the market on the car. True or false?
  • skylane1skylane1 Member Posts: 1
Thanks to msilver813's posting on his Atlantic Infiniti's experience, I decided to give them a call on their 800 number this past Thursday. Over the phone, we negotiated my best offer yet on a G35x. $33,413 including Premium Package, Trunk Mat and Wood Package. They faxed my computer modem with the offer and I reserved a in-stock car with a credit card deposit of $250. Yesterday my son and I drove down from Saratoga, NY to Lynbrook(about 200 miles) and took delivery of the car. The whole experience was top notch and would not hesitate to recommend Atlantic to anyone.

BTW, when we left the dealership to drive home there was 4 inches of snow on the ground and blizzard conditions. The G35x performed admirably in these conditions. It kept pace well with my A6 Quattro that we drove down.
  • fszatkofszatko Member Posts: 4
Great to hear another satisfied experience with Atlantic Infiniti (skylane1). I can't wait to pickup mine in a few weeks. I'm sure the new G35x will make the 13hr drive back to Chicago a dream!

I agree with the posting from "mbednorz" above that "don't buy it" may be perceived as a "hate crusade" against the G35. Therefore, I deleted my posting. What I should have written was that some of you may want to view the " G35 Problems and Solutions" section regarding discussions on the brake wear and noise issue. For some of you, it may affect your buying decision. It was meant as an attention grabbing courtesy "heads-up", but it definitely came out as an opinionated "heads-up". I apologize.

Next time I need to explain "class" to my two boys, I'm going to show them your post #942. Props to you.

P.S., I'd like to say that I deleted mine, also, but the moderator beat me to it for listing other forums (violation of the forum rules).

    'Nuff said.

Have a look at dealer inventories on Infiniti.com. 2004 6MT's are at a premium at the moment. Supply and demand I'm afraid. When I took my M45 inthe other day my local dealer had a 2003 6MT that they were trying to shift at $2500 off sticker.

just wondering if anyone was able to negotiate

away the bank fee. Dealer is saying it is

mandatory and includes GAP insurance? sounds
    fishy to me .

Have others in NY had to pay "bank Fee" thanks alot
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
AFAIK, the bank fee is a geniune fee and believe me, if you have your car stolen or toalled you will be glad you had gap insurance. Your best bet may be to negotiate an additional cap reduction to cover the cost of the bank fee.
  • buddythedogbuddythedog Member Posts: 5
if you lease using Infiniti leasing as opposed to banks that the dealers might work with. thanks
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
It can vary depending on different factors but the basic rate is 0.0018 I believe.

I want to purchase (or perhaps lease) a new '04 G35X AWD with bare minimum options (bose, sunroof) so that would be $34,345. What would be a good price to bargain for? Invoice on the car is $31,070 so maybe $1000-$1500 above this?

I live in the CT/NY/NJ tri-state area and will probably visit Devin Infiniti and Harte Auto in CT as well as White Plains Infiniti NY.

    Any thoughts on these dealers?

Wish I knew the CarDirect price for 06926 zipcode (Stamford, CT).

    Thanks!

Just go to carsdirect.com, configure the car on the web and they will till you their price. What is the problem? I just tried it with the ZIP code you mentioned and faced no problem at all!
  • dsvogeldsvogel Member Posts: 15
I don't want to name a dealership yet because I want people's inputs on if I was expecting too much.

Last Friday I went to a dealer in my local area with the purpose of seeing what I could get a G-35 6MT for. I told them what I wanted. A specific color paint and interior, premium package and the aero package. I also told them that I knew a dealer about 100 miles away had a car like that in stock according to the web and that I had checked via email to make sure it was still in stock, but had made no other commitment to that dealer. I said I was not sure of the mileage on the car, but that a car without many miles on it would be a plus.

I offered the salesman 1,000 over invoice. At this point he went to talk to his sales manager. After a wait, the manager told me, "We are going to get your car for you." I asked if it was from the dealer I had told them about and they said, know they had organized a swap with another dealer. At this point I had to go pick up my daughter at school and I left after putting a $1,000 deposit and committing to being back in on Monday to seal the deal.

This morning at the dealer the first thing I ask is to see the car. It is still has some exertrior plastic, and it does not have a rear spoiler. When I bring up the fact that the rear spoiler is not on, the salesman tells me that as soon as the car is out of the plastic they will mount it. Here is where my web research helped me. I know that dealer added wings still have the 3rd brake light in the window. When I mention this to the salesman he says there is no difference between the two. That is until I show him a factory spoiler G35 without it.

We go inside and he spends some time trying to convince me that it is no big deal and I won't notice it. My point to him is that when you spend $30K+ for a car you don't want it looking like you had an aftermarket spoiler on top.

A service man comes up. He says a panel will be put over the light. I say fine, show me the piece or an example of where you have done that. He comes back saying, he was mistaken that only happens on an I35.

I even offer to wait for an ordered car if they are willing to do one for the same price. The salesman says that they will have to give me back my deposit, he is not even looking me in the eyes. He mumbles about how the customer is always right and they have a high CSI rating etc...

The sales manager comes out and takes me outside where he starts asking me why I am making a big deal. We are at a G35 with a factory spoiler. I tell him the same thing I told the salesman about not wanting a visible, 4th, non-working brake light in the window. He then tells me, "We want you to be comfortable, but right now we are not comfortable selling you a car because of your attitude. I guess if we replaced the panel behind the seats that wouldn't make you happy." I tell him that was never offered to me. He becomes very patronizing to me and when I ask him why he tells me that I have been totally inflexible and am pointing out a very small detail just to cause problems. At this point the salesman is just staring at the pavement. I leave a short while later with my refunded deposit.

I realize this was a long-winded post. If you have made it this far, what are your thoughts? Is wanting an Infiniti to at least leave the showroom the way you want too much? My wife thinks I should call Infiniti consumer affairs. I'm leaning that direction too. If I buy that car from the non-local dealer, should I be afraid of the service I might get from this dealer's service department?
  • cjs2002cjs2002 Member Posts: 341
I agree with you, the same thing happend to my friend who just got the 03 Nissan Altima, his car came with out the spoiler on it and he asked what happend, they said they'd put it on, it was the same thing, when I talked to him later I told him that it wasn't the same thing, and that he'd have the center light still sticking up, the odd thing is that the light still functions and comes on so when your behind the car it looks funny, he told them he wanted the light removed, they did so in a matter of hours... I think they just went in through the trunk, unscrewed the bolts and fitted a piece in place, now his car is 22K so no its not unreasonable at all to want a 30K car do have just the same done. I would complain.
  • jrock65jrock65 Member Posts: 1,371
I would definitely complain. However, I doubt that Nissan would do anything about it. First, you didn't lose anything in the fiasco, other than your time, which probably means nothing to them. Second, the dealer would just tell consumer affairs (if they ever even contact the dealer about this) that you were the unreasonable one. I'm sure that there are plenty of actual unreasonable consumers out there, and they'd be inclined to believe the dealer, unless this same dealer has received a plethora of complaints in the past.

If you are really, really, really pist off by this dealer, you and some friends can go every weekend and stand in front of the dealership with huge signs saying how you were mistreated. Of course, this course of action would benefit no one, but I'd bet it would hurt the dealer's profits because of the scared away customers and the negative publicity. =)

But anyways, if you ordered a $30k factory car, then everything should be factory, no ands or buts about it.
  • chrisbothchrisboth Member Posts: 493
The aero pakage involves much more than the spoiler - to get the reduced drag coefficient the package includes underbody diffusers. This makes a real difference in airflow - more so than the rear spoiler probably and you should demand what you asked for. adding the spoiler aftermarket makes the dealer more money than buying a car with aero. I wouldn't spend much time complaining to corporate but perhaps I'd have a nother stab at the dealer when the car you want is on the lot Go back and OWN that beeatch. You'll be going back there for service anyway right?

I am glad I could help you. I take delivery this thursday. DO you remember the first name of your rep? From a future G 35x owner with Premium Package, Navigation, Mats and wood trim for 35,2000.

    THanks again!!
  • infinityfaninfinityfan Member Posts: 7
OK, I've done all my homework, and as far as I can tell, I've figured out to the penny what the 2004 G35 sedan in Caribbean blue with graphite interior and the P01 package (and trunk mat!) cost the dealer.

The sales rep said she would sell the vehicle for $500 above invoice. The options were priced out at MSRP, however.

Anyway, after I crunched every number I could think of, the bottom line is we are $400 apart, which ironically enough is the amount of the "marketing assistance" fee charged in the Midwest (I'm in Chicago).

So here's my question: How do I present my counter-offer? Here are the three options I have come up with so far:

    1. Do I just make the proposal, and then see if they want more information about how I came up with the amount?

    2. Do I go ahead and detail all the items to show how they add up to $400?

    3. Do I just try to negotiate away the $400 marketing assistance fee?

Finally, is there another strategy I haven't considered? I have a little bit of wiggle room in this transaction, but not much, and have also set a firm "walk away" price. Additionally, I have two other dealerships putting deals together for me, which could make things interesting.

Anyway, I'd be interested in hearing about what you'd do in my case, along with any other beneficial negotiating tips.

    Thanks!
