Um, you don't buy a G35 to be swaddled in boredom ala Lexus.
Is it me or are people just too hung up on price. If you really love this car why not just buy the damn thing and get on with the enjoyment of driving it. $1500 dollars is less than $1 over 5 years.
The dealers are currently paying between 24K and 26K for loaded 2003 G35 sedans (low mileage) at auction. Add the markup and you will pay 2K - 4K more.
Carmax cannot purchase at the same premium auctions. Therefore, the best place to sell your G35 is there. Of course, this is if you do not want to sell to a private party.
Quality and refinement is not the same as boring.
Besides...what's the point of a flashy interior? So you can look at it, and think mmmmmm, flashy? No. Usability and quality comes before flashyness. Flashy turns into looks-like-hell if the paint peels off.
Want to see an interior that is flashy *and* ultra high quality? Go sit in an Audi TT.
KBB has G35 prices out? Where?
Go ask Terry over on the "Real World Trade In Values" forum what he thinks about KBB (and Edmunds, and NADA).
I had a 1998 SC 400. Incredible car. Sent it back to the [non-permissible content removed] I bought it from 'cause it had been wrecked, otherwise I'd still have it. I loved that car. Every aspect of that car was perfectly executed. Before anybody starts screaming it handled like a pig....yeah...it did...that's exactly how they designed it, for a smooth ride.
I think your question is about incentives or rebates.
uhmm have you ever looked at a Lexus GS next to a G35. Looks pretty damn similar to me. And when did Lexus design this, uhmm lets say 1998? Take a look from the front, side and back, and you will notice some very very strong similarities on the outside
Interior, ride, etc.. is a different story, depends on what you like. you like a tight ride, you'll like infiniti. you like refinement, you'll side with Lexus. everyone has different tastes, no use arguing back and forth.
The Smart Shopper board is a good place for holdback, incentive and rebate questions, and some of these other messages would fit nicely into the general discussion about the Infiniti G35.

Can anyone respond to this post: hollenhorst2 Aug 9, 2003 2:53pm?
Today I went out to help my mom buy the G35! What a beautiful car! Wish I had been negotiating for me. I didn't have much time to research, but I knew people were having a hard time getting close to invoice, and in some cases, it seems to be difficult to get the car for much less than MSRP.
Anyhow, I contacted the internet/fleet manager and worked with him. After much, much haggling...a break for lunch, and a near walk-out, I was able to get the car for $500 over his invoice price (which included a $400 marketing assessment fee, which is total BS and I made a real stink about it!) He originally wanted $1,500 over invoice. I think we did ok...I hope we did. We paid $31,100 for the desert platinum/graphite leather interior, w/premium package, and a trunk mat or something
Thanks & happy shopping all!

1) G is better handler and has much better power
2) GS is luxury and not for throwing into turns
3) Parked next to each other they have similarities and many differences too. One is not the other when you look at trees and not the forest. But neither of us minded the comparisons to each others cars and we both felt complimented when one brought up the other.
4) Both are equally well put together and GS has more refined interior...but he likes mine more. The front seat of the GS has some issues for 6'5" guys even for a big car...the dash is huge...and the AARP must have been involved in button and control design as they are huge.
5) Both are awesome cars but shouldn't be compared for performance. Lexus has nothing on design or performance over G.
Now my comments are - lexus is great - but on the items we were willing to pay for..kids not withstanding...lexus has nothing on G. If you want to feel good in a luxo car...lexus is for you. The middle ages fast and furious should go to infiniti dealer...and the GS has been out since early 90's with minor revisions to appearance.
Not sure lack of handling prowess or power on one car equates to a lack of refinement in the other...we were both at a loss to find any lack of refinement in either car. My bud did mention he was bummed he had to pay the extra 5-7k for that dealer service and refinement he thought he could get from infiniti... if he would stop feeding his kids cheezesteaks every night.
Please take this conversation to a more appropriate discussion. Thanks.

this is a 2003, right? are any 2004 prices out yet?
i have have been round and round with infiniti and they have basiclly told "to bad, it's in the manual".
in the last 8 yrs i have owned 2 Q45's and a QX4, this will be the last infiniti i own because of their lack of concern for the problem and their failure to address it.
if i sound pissed it's because of the way the regional manager addressed the problem (did nothing) and after countless telephone calls and 3 registered letters the home office in CA has not responded.
But please don't post the same message in multiple G35 discussions. Most G35 enthusiasts keep track of all the G35 discussions, so you don't have to worry about visibility.
If anyone has advice for masterchef, please respond to him in either the main G35 topic or the Problems & Solutions one.
Let's keep this discussion focused on the topic at hand - thanks.
The Twilight Blue G35 that I got is a 2003.5 model. I heard the prices will go up slightly on the 2004, but only because some of the items are going to become standard.
I love the car, the drivetrain is INCREDIBLE!
I contacted the dealer through email first and then I showed up this morning without fixing any price. Not a very good practice normally:), but Martha was professional and we settled on 31,700 very quickly. No haggle at all. I am very happy.
I know I could get 2003.5 for lower price, but this is 2004 people! I was told it already sit in the port and I can pick it up next week. Can't wait:)
Tell me what you think and thanks to Edmunds and everyone in the town hall. I learnt a great deal from this site and you guys.
I will update you when I pick my 2004 up next week.
What do you think of the price? Thanks again for telling me your experience. Truth is always welcome
Regarding price, when I was looking into sedans, the best price I got was $500 over invoice, and the worst was $1000 under MSRP. Dont forget the 2004 models will be arriving any day. Suggest also looking at www.FreshAlloy.com for more info.
Keep us posted. I hope the dealer accepts my pessimism as a challenge, and gets your car to you with all due haste! Good luck.
By the way, the MSRP pricing on a 2004 is NOT 6-8% higher than a 2003. According to the stickers on the cars on the lot for a G35 sedan, the MSRP on 2003 model is $30100, MSRP on 2004 is $29650 but remember that the 2004 model includes standard heated seats and front mirrors (which was an option on the 2003 for $650 (MSRP) as a winter package). MSRP on Premium package on a 2003 is $3200, on a 2004 is ($3050 without a full size spare tire and $3200 with a full size spare tire). If anyone found a reasonable SF Bay area dealer, please let me know. I think I may now lean towards a 2004 instead.
