As part of negotiations, has anyone had a dealer throw in options such as LoJack, Remote Starters, Wheel Locks, or Roof Racks/bike Racks, etc.?

At what point does one ask for these as freebies.

I hope I don't digress this discussion board.

Hi frayberg - have you found our ongoing Infiniti G35 discussion? That's a good place for some of your questions.

Also, please don't ask for the names of sales folks. As you'll see by checking out the discussion description, names should not be posted.

    Good luck ... and welcome!

I just finished reading the manual, part of it of course :) and can't wait to share my experiences.

I paid $31,700 for my 2004 G35 Sedan W/ Leather, Premium Package, Wood Package, and Trunt Mat. I believe it is approx. $2,500 off the MSRP. Please refer to my orginal post for more details:
    g35_wang Aug 23, 2003 10:02pm

I signed the PO on 8/23/2003, and picked up today. The whole experience is just so satisfying, thanks to the saleslady, the dealership, info and tips from Edmunds and your guys, and my money of course :) I couldn't be happier. Thanks to Jaffman also for helping me holding my expectation low and satisfaction high. Good luck with your car, Jaffman.

Now, the car. Man, isn't it just sweet?! Its exterior color is Ivory Pearl, the Interior is Willow, and I am telling you, I finally see THE angel :) I didn't push it too hard yet, but it's already making me high. The suspension is pretty tight as expected even without sport option. The handling is great in the mists, a bit too good in fact. Well, just have to adjust to it :)

I like the interior a lot and the wood package does make it even nicer. The willow leather is perfect!

I can't go on forever since I am thinking about taking it for a drive again :)

    So, here are some thoughts:
    1. Do your research, as much as possible
    2. Contact dealers through email
    3. Go to a respected dealer and BUY it.

BTW, I am living in central NJ and I can give you more info if you want. I am giving the saleslady and the dealership all excellent ratings.

Thanks again, guys. I couldn't do it without you.

Did $31,700 include the Premium Pkg with a Full Spare?
  • g35_wangg35_wang Member Posts: 21
    The whole package includes:
    1. 2004 G35 Sedan W/ Leather (Heated front seats are standard)
    2. Ivory Pearl/Willow
    3. Premium package w/ full size spare
    4. Wood package (really enhances the interior)

Sorry but as you can see by the message from the host we are not allowed to give salesperson names. I wish I could because he was really very good to us. When I arrived to pick up my G35 Coupe he took us over to my car which was parked out front. I noticed that the inevitable had happened - bird poop on the hood! He immediately took the car back inside and had it cleaned up for me! I hope it is OK to say this - If you visit Kelly you might want to tell them that you heard about them through another satisfied customer named Scheid and ask if you can speak to the same salesperson that sold us our car.
As for the "extras" you are looking for, I don't believe they will throw those in. The salesman was not the person who brought those up, it was the finance person and I don't think she could cut a deal on those. Personally, I was not interested in them anyway. The car comes with a decent alarm system. She was able to give us a very competitive loan rate 4.19%. Even my credit union did not come close to it.

I LOVE this car!! Unfortunately I was only able to put about 20 miles on it tonight. Had to get it home because it started to rain!

I bought a G35 on Aug.31st from Frontier Infiniti, Santa Clara, CA, paid $31,700 w/Premium Package and 2.9% financing for 5years.
  • carbycarby Member Posts: 2
Bought a 2004 G35 with Navigation, Premium Package (w/full size spare) for $33,650. Experience only OK at this Northern CA dealer. Definitely took a lot of work to get this price. Does this seem kind of high?

Is anyone getting anything below MSRP in DC/VA/MD area on coupe 6MT? I am welling to drive up and down the east coast.

    Thanks,
  • g35_wangg35_wang Member Posts: 21
I didn't ask my dealer about the coupe price, but I am pretty sure you should at least contact them. The best buying experience I had.
  • frutofruto Member Posts: 5
G35-wang, which dealership is it? Who is the dealer that you deal with? fruto123@yahoo.com. Thanks,

Carby, I just bought a 2004 sedan with Nav, Premium, and Wood for $33,333 here in MD. And that is pretty much the cheapest that I have seen it around here at least. BTW, love the car.
  • frutofruto Member Posts: 5
get a quote 550 off msrp. Anyone seen better deal? Diamond graphite, 6MT, willow, premium.
  • ten4ten4 Member Posts: 1
Has anyone leased the coupe recently - the prices I am getting seem really high - $599 on 12K, 36 month
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
That's because the money factor on a G35c lease is high. The price of wanting a popular car I'm afraid. It can actually cheaper be to lease a $48000 M45 than a $36000 G35 Coupe.

Well I have finally decided to get a 6MT sedan. I live in the Bay Area and have been dealing mainly with Peninsula Infiniti and Frontier Infiniti. The salesman I am working with at Peninsula is just great so far and absolutely no pressure. So far I have $1000 over invoice which is okay but I would like better.

I am a Costco member and I would like to know how much over invoice I could get. Also, how much is the going rate over invoice for 6MT sedans?

If this is of any help, the features I want are nav, premium, and possibly aero package.

EDIT: If anyone who has purchased any cars in the Bay Area knows of any things I should know, please email me at mrman_3k@msn.com
  • mrkaclarkemrkaclarke Member Posts: 6
Which dealer in MD did you work with ? I'm just starting my shopping for a dealer and was hoping to have a "pleasant" experience. Your price paid gives me hope.

I'm in DC - I can ride to any of the dealers in the DC metro area

    carby and g35_wang,
These must be before tax and license prices??
From reading your posts, I should be able to get around $2000+ off MSRP. I am looking at a g35 with Premium, sport, and aero. MSRP was $34850.
I was starting to get hesitant about purchasing a g35 since I saw many disturbing posts about brake life being short, bumper issues, CDs getting stuck, and a poor rating from insurance co.
    What are your thoughts?
  • hey1hey1 Member Posts: 7
Well I wound up purchasing the car from Jim Coleman, because the exact car I wanted they happened to have in stock one morning. But up until that point I dealt with Nationwide Infiniti, in particular I recommend a salesman with the initials CH (please ask for him, I don't think we are supposed to say names on this forum). My experience at Nationwide was much better than my experience at Coleman. I would have much preferred to give my money to Nationwide. The only problem is the car that they were going to get in was an '03 (which I had to pay for shipping from Va. Beach), versus Coleman had an '04 in stock with no shipping. Lastly, just wanted to say I had a VPP deal. That was a $1700 to $2500 decrease than any negotiated deal that I had outside VPP.
  • adnipsadnips Member Posts: 36
Sounds like a great deal for an 04. What & how do you get VPP pricing?..........adnips

Vehicle Purchase Program. My employer offers it. I know different companies are part of the program, so you may want to ask around.
  • g35_wangg35_wang Member Posts: 21
Yes, 31,700 is the vehicle price and it's about 500 over invoice and 2500 off MSRP, so I am pretty sure it's a good deal. It made me happy and the dealer too :) Out of the door, it cost me 33,900.

I would not worry about the brake complains too much. Check out other new cars, they all have extensive brake dust. I think safety is more important to me than some brake dust and brake pad. But again, I don't drive too crazy, so hopefully replacing brake pad around 9000 miles won't happen to me :)

As for the CD player problem, it hasn't happen to me yet. I don't put stupid labels on the CDs I burn. If you stay away from that, I am sure it will be OK.

Bumper issue? Well, it's luxury car and NEW, of course the repair will be expensive. I wouldn't worry about it either.

I put 550 miles on my sedan now and I like it! Seems to me that there ain't too many complains about the G except brake dust and bumper repair, even for those have been drive for well over a year. I'd see that shows how good the G is.

Make up your own mind by yourself. Use this board as reference, put things in perspective, you sure will like whatever decision you make.

I'm going out to buy my G35 Sedan this weekend. I only want the leather package, which should reduce the price by $3,050 (premium package)

I have a question about the $31,700 price you paid for your 2004 G35 Sedan. The sales tax in NJ is 6%, which meant you had to pay $1902.00 in taxes. It didn't exactly total your final out the door price. What were the additional charges?
    Thanks,Corky
  • jjfongjjfong Member Posts: 3
Thanks for all of the great info and your experiences with your new car (thanks to others on this board as well). You have been very helpful and will help me sleep at night after I make my purchase!

mrman: Just saw your message re Bay Area dealers. I had a very good buying experience about two years ago on my I35 at Niello Infiniti in Concord, after finding Frontier (my local dealer) very hard to deal with. I dealt with a manager named Brian Meiers (I think he is their internet guy) and did the deal by email. I don't know if they are more or less price-competitive than other dealers, but they were extremely professional and easy to work with.

The G costs 31,700, sale tax 6% and 1902, doc fee (charged by dealer) 199, including registration fee and the license plate fees are 96. So, out of the door 33897. I round it up to 33900 :)

Be prepared before you contact them or go to their show room, let them know you are well informed. I even printed out Top 10 Dealer Scams from www.carbuyingtips.com. My dealer didn't try anything on me, part of the reason is that they probably know I was prepared.

The premium package, IMHO, is well worth it. You may think you don't need it, but it's hard to put on later, like the moonroof. (You could, but I would not mess with the structure of the car).

I wouldn't suggest the sport suspension though. The suspension is already pretty tight as it is and I am not that kind of guy who wants to feel the road that much. Hey, I havn't even push the engine to 4000 RPM yet, not to mention the red line. That's what kind of driver I am :)

I washed my G last weekend and it was fun! I just used some cleaning stuff from my neighbor and the brake dust came off fine. Boy, the wheels look really great when they are clean. I wouldn't let car wash people to touch my G as long as it's not too cold to wash it by myself.

Glad that I can help you guys. I received a lot of information from this site and I just picked up the torch from earlier guys. You guys will feel the excitement to share when you get your Gs :)

I bought My 2003 G35 Sedan 5A with the premium package, sport tuned suspension, trunk mat, etc, etc. Paid invoice at $31,032. Was thrilled with the bargain and the ease of my dealings with this dealership. My wife loved the car so much that she sold her Volkswagen Jetta just so she could go by one for herself. I called the same dealership and reminded them that I had just purchased from them three months ago and that I wanted another one just like it and wanted the same deal. They quickly agreed. My wife decided to get the Aero package too so she paid invoice at $31,604. She also got 2.9% financing where I recieved 4.9% on mine. It was as easy as going in and signing the papers on both cars and they didn't try to tweek the numbers or add a bunch of unnecessary add ons. I purchased them both at South Bay Infiniti in Torrance California. This place is great.

    Hey,

Anyone out there...have you dealt with the Infiniti of Huntsville dealership...if so what has been your experience (cost, service, salesman, & overall experience).

Any experience with the internet sales manager/person?

If no one has dealt with dealer in Huntsville Alabama, what about the dealers in Chattanooga TN, Nashville TN, or Birmingham AL...all are about 100 miles away.

    Thanks.

Working with a dealer in Ohio. They will honor an "internet" price of $1000 over invoice or $2000 under MSRP for 2003 G35 with Premium/Nav.

    For 2004, he'll go $2000 over invoice.

Is this a good deal for the '03?
  • jjfongjjfong Member Posts: 3
Make sure you get at least a price at or below MSRP .... OUT THE DOOR.
The MSRP for my 2004 was $34,850 and I paid $35,100 out the door (in Calif with our high taxes). Know what you are willing to pay from your research and stick to it. If they aren't willing to budge then politely say "thanks" as you walk out the door. :)

I am looking to get a G35 coupe and have been studying all the information at carbuyingtips.com. It definitely have some great car buying infor but I'm wondering how much will I actually be able to get off MSRP on the coupe. There are 2 Infiniti dealers within a 150 mile radius of me and their selection of G35 coupes are limited. What's the most I can expect to bargin off on this car? Any comments would be greatly apprieciated.

    Gang,

I picked up my G35c last night!! Woohoo!! Based on centraljersey's post: $33,980, $1019.4(VA tax), $96 (registration), $168 (document), my bottom line should be $35,263.4

Last night (Sep. 30), VA Rosanthal called me and they had a red/willow/aero/premium/6MT on the lot. At first they wouldn't budge away from the MSRP. Finally we get down to $36,000 on the phone.

At 7:00PM, I drove to the dealership and saw the red car in front of the door. Then we negotiated couple more hours. Finally I agreed with out of the door price $35,589 since the car has wind deflector, wheel-lock, paint protection, interior protection, and I don't need to wait for the car being built/shipped/ordered.

I agreed with everyone that *last day of the month* is the best time to go and *get the finance done* first to show them you are serious about the purchase and show them you are able to afford the car.

I am going to sleep in my G35 tonight :)

  • mambo532mambo532 Member Posts: 3
    Responce to dkinla:
Since I had a price in mind from one of the posters in this group of what he paid for a premium package car, I figured I could subtract $3050.00 (premium option cost)to get a car with just leather only. The salesman said my reasoning was all wrong. I then said people were getting $2000.00 off of MSRP. He agreed to that, which was almost to the dollar of what figure I had in mind. I tried to strike a compromise on their billing and handling fee, and they said "no way"!!! The only other thing they took off was the $60.00 trunk mat, which I didn't want anyway. Buy your car the last hour of the last day of the month, and they will probably take the $2000.00 off of MSRP.

I did a little better than $2000 off MSRP on an '04 6MT Sedan in the Atlanta 'burbs. I used carbuyingtips.com to formulate an offer, and the dealer accepted. Love the car, love the value, and had a great dealer experience.

    adnips,

Bought at Roswell Infiniti. Ask for Bill Clark, he was great to deal with. Do your homework and go in with a reasonable offer. Probably no such deal on a coupe though. I think '04 coupes are still going at or close to MSRP.
    Good luck,

I want to buy a 2004 G35 sedan with premium, aero, and sport. Anyone know what deal to expect and who gives the best deal?
  • adnipsadnips Member Posts: 36
Sounds like you got a good deal. The last quote I got from a dealer in Roswell was $800 below MSRP. Not a big deal. They did counter with a close out of an 03 at invoice cost however. Wrong color and year for me. Thanks for your help! Dave

I just agreed to purchase a 2004 Diamond Graphite sedan with premium, sport, aero, and add on splash guards. MSRP $34670 + $225 for splash guards. I recieved $1800 off MSRP.
  • hoopyahhoopyah Member Posts: 2
Since this board was of such help, i thought i'd post my "deal". I purchased my '04 G35 Diamond Graphite, Leather, AT, premium package with full size spare, and tint thrown in for $31,600 + TTL. They had to ship it from San Antonio to Austin, so I came up a couple hundred on price and they threw in tint. Not sure how much off of MSRP that is. He showed me the '04 invoice for this one and it was 30,900 (which includes the $325 advertising fee). So I paid $700 over invoice, but they had to ship and included tint. Not the best deal, but i don't think the worst either.

What dealer in Illinois did you purchase from?

I tried to buy one several months back in Chicagoland, but couldn't get better than $1K off MSRP ('03 sedan) so I decided to wait until the Fall. Of course, now I'll check out the new Maxima and TL before I buy. Did you compare to either of these?
