Yeah, and I still wouldnt buy a pair of shoes without trying them on, despite the price difference.
But the good news is that I called and then visited Melbourne Infinity on saturday. They encouraged me to come in for a test drive of a coupe. My wife and I went to the dealer, we both took lengthy unescorted test drives and were offered to purchase an inventory coupe at a few hundred below list. We passed on that offer and ordered exactly what we wanted that day. Although we paid list, we didn't feel too bad about it given the circumstances and knowing we could have paid below list if we were willing to compromise on features, color, etc.
The yahoos at the Orlando and Tampa dealers were arrogant and not the least bit interested in making any compromises to sell us a coupe. the folks at Melbourne weren't concerned about a refundable security deposit for the order because they know they'll sell the car one way or the other. they also offer free pickup and delivery for service within 60 miles of the dealership.
I can see why these guys have won an award as Infiniti's top dealership for service nationwide.
It may sound like I work for the dealership, but I don't. I'm just darn pleased to find a dealership and sales person who cared about having me as a customer.
Interesting to hear about your 330i lease though, as the 330i that I looked at was about $42k with leather and the G35 I've ordered is just at $33k. Now way the BMW lease payment came close, so it sounds like you got a great deal or were comparing a G35 that was much more loaded than the one I'm ordering.
Can't go wrong with the beemers. I think we both landed really good cars. Best of luck.
Sedan/auto/leather/Premium package/winter package/trunk mat. MSRP 34085, Invoice 31054. Got it for 31400 with .00154 money factor, 55% RV, 3500 in cap reductions (trade in plus money down) and I will have it for around 360.00 per month for a 36 month term. Shopped around for a long time and spoke with four different dealers. No one came within 900 buck of the guys in Milwaukee (international autos). I am stoked!!!
These cars not only look completely different but they price completely different. I have a G35 coupe and recommended the car to my co-worker. The price he received in NY was 600/month on a lease. Ouch! That makes me feel like I got my coupe for a steal!
Still, do not tolerate this behavior and shop elsewhere. Then, write to Infinity, the BBB and other services to let them know of your negative experiences.
Reading your experiences makes me sick. Glad some of you found other dealers who will work with you and not against you.
Somewhat related, what is the story regarding (covered) scheduled maintenance? The first dealer I went to told me all scheduled maintenance was covered up to (I think it was) 3 yr/36K mi. Also told me I'd get a G35 or I35 loaner, even for scheduled maintenance, which I found strange, so I Pressed them on this point, and they assured me that's how they work.
I never had that discussion with the dealer I'll be buying from, however. Thus my question; is this something I need to negotiate for, or do all (or most) dealers do it? The fact that the first dealer brought it up on my first visit had me thinking it was an Infiniti thing.
Now I'm not so sure.
Regards.
Thanks.
Well, he still doesn't have the check. I guess another phone call is in order...
...though to tell you the truth, I've been sitting here running through the main G35 forum, where there is a current discussion re: "free" scheduled maintenance...
I'm starting to think I'd be better off doing oil changes and the one air filter change at my local garage, as I've always done. My guys are good, and we have a *real* relationship. I don't know about the service guys at the dealership. The sales guys love to talk about relationships though!
Thanks again.
Congrads on the car and do not beat yourself with second-guessing!
The more I drive mine the more I love it ('03, used, premium, winter, 6,600 miles every option except sport and navigation).
My dealer performs all scheduled maintenance, provides washes and offers a loaner even on a used car purchase. It is all how you work the deal. I overpayed a little at 29K and change for these ammenities and second-guessed the purchase. They also gave me a heck of a deal on my trade. It is worth it to me to receive good service.
People come out of the woodwork and tell me they can get the same car "new" for that price, but I do not believe them as most edmunds.com posters list 31,500+ for the same car. It is all relative, so just enjoy your new baby!
Thanks!!!

Brilliant silver, graphite leather interior, premium package, trunk mat. MSRP was $34,415 without tax, etc. and I paid $33,898.54 without tax. No processing fees or additional fees. Was this a decent deal?
My only concern is the paint chipping and possibility of scratches or dents. Any advice?
Tom
Sounds like they really need to sell as your deal is very good.
Their customer service is sufficient. They will fix the paint chipping and scratches if you approach them with a technical service bulletin. They are practically rebuilding my car and we shall see the quality when, and if, it returns to my driveway.
The TSB site is posted in the general G35 forum. Look in the historical posts, print the TSBs and go to the service department armed with evidence. I think there is one for paint chipping if not mistaken? There is one for almost everything else along with three recall notices (some are the sedan only).
I would worry more about the poor brake pad brake rotor quality than the paint. Order your pads NOW because you will need replacements soon. Infinity replaces the rear pads for free and you can get them to replace the front pads if you persist. I heard a major magazine is publishing an article regarding the G35 brake issue. Prices should drop soon, unfortunately for us current owners if the article is published.
PS..if you go behind the dealership, you will find more than one coupe and MANY sedans. They hide these and say they only have "one or two" in stock.
Most of all, congrats and enjoy your car. The coupe looks wonderful! Wish my wife would let me get one. You will love driving. Most of all, do not let a little "tricked-out" honda civic beat you from a stop light!
Tom
As stated, they do the right thing, but are not proactive. You need to call things to their attention and go to them armed with the TSBs and recalls. My service person is quite pleasant, but seems totally overloaded with work. That is one tough job!
Drive around to the back of the Mall area and you will see all the coupes and sedans. "One or two left" my backside! They have hundreds remaining. What a joke. I saw four coupes this weekend. Did they sell them all in one day?
Let us know how you like the coupe after driving it for a few weeks. It looks awesome!

Anyone has any idea if this is a good price ?
thx
can anyone tell me if this is a good price? i know 2004's are on their way soon.
for a coupe w/ PREMIUM PACKAGE, SPORTS PACKAGE< AERO KIT AND TRUNK MAT (before taxes, title and registration fees), i was given a MSRP of $35,615.
Is this good?? Anyone recommend any dealers or other locations w/ better offers? i was at ray catena in edison.
I know there are all kinds of wheels and deals between the manufacturer and dealers. However, it is usually the manufacturer paying dealers back on part of the purchase price. Has anyone come across this "Marketing Assessment Fee" when they bought their G-35s in CA?
If this checks out, I plan on making the purchase this weekends. So any inputs are much appreciated! Thanks!

Good luck on shopping!
Toyota used to pull this in the early '90s (advertising fee) and soon revisited after sales dropped by a significant number.
Just traded in my 5AT sedan for a 2003.5 ivory pearl 6MT sedan. Specifics are IP/willow 6MT with premium, splash guards, trunk mat, and aero (rear spoiler only). MSRP was $33,585, I paid $30,625.
Thanks,
Don
The trade-in value was the thing I wrestled most with. As you know, Edmunds, NADA, and KBB have no trade-in values posted yet for the G35 because of it's newness. So, I had a real hard time figuring out what a fair trade value would be. I searched many used car sites for comparable retail used values and found the most info on Carmax.com. They regularly show 3-5 used G35s with "no haggle" prices of $29-31K. There have been several dealer ads in the past weeks here in the DFW area at about the same range. My current 5AT sedan has 26,000 miles, a bit high for a one year old vehicle. I am thinking that the dealership will put my car on their used car lot and easily sell it for $28,000. or so. They offered me $26,000 even on the trade. I could have probably held out for a little more, but remember, they are selling me the new 6MT loaded sedan (w/o nav) at invoice with no haggling AT ALL. Incidentally, I took it to carmax to get an appraisal and they offered me substantially less. I mean substantially.
So, did I get the best value for my trade? Probably not, but the alternative was selling it myself which would have resulted in substantially higher sales taxes on the new one. I only paid sales tax (6.25% here in TX) on the difference. So all in all I think I did okay. What do you think?
