Never go to a dealer unprepared. Get offers (by phone or email) from at least three dealers. Go with the best one to the dealer you choose and make him offer a better deal. It takes some time and hassle but it pays off. You should be able to get it for 29k or less in this area. Especially if the car is in stock.

I'm looking at buying a used G35 sedan (desert platinum w/willow leather) for $25,600. It has the Bose upgrade, sunroof, and winter package (heated seats). The car was placed in service on 3/30/02 and has 8,800 miles. It has a clean carfax and had the oil changed (3,750 & 7,500 miles) at the dealer. I'm curious, is this a good deal??

Got a pretty good price on a: G35 Sedan/Leather automatic with Premium and the winter/sports package. The dealer swapped out the rims (since the tires are the same) but was able to get:

31,415 plus tax/lic etc...

Regular G35 sedan/leather with premium was 30,895.

I placed a deposit down with an Atlanta-area dealer today for a G35 Coupe Leather 6MT scheduled to arrive in a couple of weeks.

According to them, on their inventory list, the Aero package is indicated, but the sales rep I spoke with--who was otherwise very friendly and straightforward--claimed there are three different aero packages, with prices either $550, $2450, or $2900. Further, he was unable to tell me which of these packages would be on the car, and that if it were the most expensive one, the MSRP would be (including premium and nav packages) over $39k.

Can this be right? On the Infiniti site, only one aero package is listed for this model, and it's $550. Checking off all the boxes gets to $37,545, so I'm having a hard time believing the price could inflate to $39k.

Can anyone confirm?

Snagiel - I also just ordered a 6MT. According to the research I did, here and at Intellichoice, there are 3 different aero options. Two are called "kits" and are port installed; the third is the actual aero package (code R01). There are several sets of what can be mixed and matched.

Suffice it to say that yes the aero stuff can indeed add up to about 2900 at sticker pricing, but at the low end could also only be $550.

Hope this helps and isn't too confusing. If you want to work out for yourself what you might be getting, I recommend Edmunds and Intellichoice; you'll probably need both to make sense of it all.

I am looking to lease a g35 coupe for 39 months with the following options:

Aero (3 piece)
Premium package
performance wheels
MSRP: $35545

I have called around and here is what I've gotten. $1500 down and $553 a month...money down is for first months payment, security deposit...etc.

I have called another dealer 2 hours away and said that they are leasing this same car for $1500 down and $510 a month.

Has anyone out there heard of getting the $510 a month deal? Is the $553 to much? Right now I am very frustrated and have been doing my research and have seen an earlier posting of someone getting almost the same options for $500 a month with $0 down and first months payment...etc. at delivery.

What does everyone think? Is the $553 way out of the ballpark and I should be looking for a better deal? Is the $510 payment realistic with only first months payment...etc. down.

Please let me know your thoughts!

You have not provided enough information to compare these leases directly. What's the residual (value of the car at the end of the lease, usually expressed as a percentage of MSRP like 60%)? What's the money factor (interest rate on lease charges, a small decimal like 0.0022 -- multiply by 2400 to turn it into an actual interest rate)? What's the mileage limit (15,000 or 12,000 a year)? Are they all 39 months, or are you accidentally comparing 36 month leases to 39 month leases? The MSRP is useful for calculating the residual value, but you also need the cap cost -- the actual sale price of the vehicle (yes, you can negotiate the sale price on a lease, and 2,000 off the top of the price of the car will affect your lease payment by quite a bit). The cap cost isn't necessary to compare leases, but if one dealer's willing to give you more off MSRP than another, it could favorably affect your monthly payment.

So, you need 4 numbers to compare leases directly: number of months, mileage allowance, residual, and money factor.

I'm being quoted at $33,800 w/destination and ADM ($400 markup)included. I will probably pick up the car within a few days. This is pretty much at dealer cost give and take the $400 mark up. I used Kelly Blue Book (Seemed more accurate than Edmunds esp. re: Premium Pkg.) to get invoice.

Pretty good price. Let me know if there's something better out there.

That's an excellant price if it's a 2003.5, a good price if it's a 2003. I'm sure you know that the 2003 can be identified by a handle on the outside of the trunk lid. The 2003.5 has no handle on the outside. The 2003 is very old inventory by now and had a few problems that were solved by a few TSB's.

 I paid $34,500 for the same car in a 2003.5 w/o the sport suspension and aero, but included the winter and wood pkg's.

Glad to hear it! I have 7700 miles on my G now and love it. I have had no problems at all w/ it. I've taken it to the dealer twice for oil changes only. The only thing that happened to the car was caused by me 4 days after I bought it.

I had my hands full of stuff I was taking out of the trunk and pulled the rear trunk lid down as far as I could w/ my hand, then using my elbow to close the lid. Well, not being used to the trunk yet, I dented it w/ my elbow. Just about made me sick. After I took it in to Infiniti Richmond for the first oil change, the service manager gave me a number for what he said was the best dent guy in town. I called it, and he came to my house. He removed my dent and I can't even tell it was ever there! Absolutely amazing. WHEW. It was only a $75.00 "stupid" mistake on my part that turned out fine.

I know better than to do something stupid like that, but did it anyway. So guys and ladies, it is better to get finger prints on your new polish job than to create a bigger problem. hahahaa

Just put a deposit down on a G35 coupe. Here in Texas the prices are holding pretty close to MSRP for the coupes. If you work a little, the dealers are giving small discounts (up to $500), or are throwing in dealer-installed options (either free or at discount) with savings of about the same.

I got a leather automatic coupe (Diamond Graphite with graphite interior) with satellite radio. It was an unclaimed car coming in on a dealer allotment. Paid MSRP, with splashguards and tint thrown in for free (worth $450 at dealer prices, could have done it for $350 aftermarket). Ended up getting it in San Antonio, although I shopped every dealership in Texas. I needed a non-sunroof car because of headroom issues (I have the torso of a 6'3" person and like to sit upright.) There were only 4 non-sunroof available before Aug 1 at the Texas dealerships.

Looking at the allocations coming in, the Houston dealerships may start having coupes sitting on the lots within a month or two. That should make them a little more open to dickering on the price.

Just got home in my brand new G35 Sedan. Desert Platinum/Graphite, Premium, Winter w/Full-size Spare, Wood packages. Got it for invoice ($31365) at Advantage Infiniti of Santa Monica. Overall very painless and pleasant experience. Took a detour from the freeway to drive on some twisties in the hills - this is one sweet ride!

Well, as you can see from one post above, I got the car for straight invoice. However, living in Los Angeles, I have no clue what the car market is like in Atlanta. Usually, $500 over is not a bad deal at all though. If you are going to lease, here's what I got from Infiniti Financial:

Sticker - $34335.00
Cap Cost - $31365
Residual - 55%
Money Factor - 0.00189
Term - 39 months

Witht the above conditions my monthly lease payment is $415/month + 8.25% tax, which brings the total payment to $450.00/month. If I were to pay $500 over invoice, my payment would have been $429/month + 8.25% tax for a total of $464/month. As you can see, the difference is only 14 bucks a month. I separated the tax only because I don't know what the tax rate is in Atlanta. Anyhow, hurry and get your G35 - it will put a big grin on your face every time you drive it.

Put an order in on a G35 coupe in mid April. Car will not be in until late June or early July. Black (with Graphite Interior), Premium Pkg, Tire Pkg, Nav System, Aero Pkg. Automatic Transmission. Paid MSRP. There was no negotiating. Went to 3 other dealers first...they wanted MSRP plus 750 - 1,500. Feeling kinda sick about paying MSRP on an 03 model when the 04's will come in 2-3 months later...but that is what the market is looking like right now...

Just picked up my G35 Sedan this weekend. Just love that V6 growl. We bought from the largest dealer in Chicagoland. The only options I got were the sunroof, sports package and trunk mat. The price negotiated through email was $29,300 and the out the door price came to $31,700.
It was the easiest car purchase I have ever been involved in. (I usually go with my friends when they buy their cars). I showed up at 9:30 and and left in one hour.

Just bought a used '03, 6,600 miles, silver/ willow sedan with the premium package for 29K. Glad someone else took the depreciation. I think this car is one of the first G35s manufactured (January of 2002)? Does anyone know how to confirm this?

Was a one year lease turn-in. Also have an '03 Jaguar X-Type that requires premium fuel.

In reading other posts, some items are not crystal clear.

Does the G35 require 94 octane or 91 octane? Even my salesman is unsure. I know my Jag will not run well, if at all, on anything less than 94 octane. Is this true of the G35?

Are there other problems other than brake pads?

Any suggestions/input is appreciated.

BTW - the car drives like a dream. The performance is heads above the Jaguar, but the styling and cheap interior lack the same pinnash.

January '02 seems to me like it would be one of the first, as I think the cars initially went on sale around March, and a Jan build date would account for transport time. I'm not sure how to confirm this, though.

91 octane is what's recommended. (Just take a peek in the owner's manual to confirm.) There are some parts of the country where you can't get 93, let alone 94.

There were quite a few problems with the first run of sedans. I think, for the most part, they've all been sorted out. Your dealer can probably run a service history for you to see what's already been done to your car. The problems don't appear in every car, so just keep an eye on it, and notify your dealer if anything seems wrong.

Pinnash is flare or attention to fine detail.

I confirmed via the VIN number that the car is one of the first 2,000 made. You can look at the VIN and the sequence number is after the "M". Hope they took care of the issues! Better than buying a first run KIA!!!

Many previous posts list dealerships and test drives. Some good and some bad. I purchased my used '03, Premium, winter, mud flaps, 6,600 miles from a great dealer. Let me drive anywhere. Paid 29K which is probably too much, but I "distrust" the dealer LESS than I "distrust" other dealers. For those looking for a used vehicle, use my number as a benchmark to beat and let me know if you are successful.

People are telling me they get new G35s for the same price? Do not know whether to believe or disbelieve them as the sticker is approx. $34,500. Good service, a free Infinity loaner and free car washes are worth everything to me.

After owning Jaguars for many years (still own them) and obtaining the best customer service possible, I am giving Infinity a try because this is a FUN car to drive. Simply put: this car beats the heck out of some Jaguars and I hope the service is as good. Only time will tell......

My dealer here in Jacksonville won't even let me test drive a G35 Coupe without agreeing to terms and putting down a deposit first. Where's the famous Infiniti customer service??

I've heard of such shenanigans with, say, BMW Z8's (where there are precious few, and they want to discourage joyriding from non-serious customers). But with the G coupe? Go to another dealer and don't look back. And be sure to phone the original dealer's manager when you finally make your purchase, and let them know why you brought your business elsewhere.

Your dealer will not let you drive? Get a new dealer and call Infinity. Even better, give them negative press by calling a local TV station.

Seceretely videotape them. Post it on the Internet for all to see.

This experience gives you an indication of how they will act AFTER your purchase. Run and be very afraid! If I lived in Jacksonville and read this, I would not even bother. Heck, post their number on Edmunds and let us all bombard them with phone calls!

Infiniti website recently shows that twilight blue is available for G-35 sedan (and emerald mist was removed from selections). I contacted a local dealer in LA and he said that is a mistake. He said twilight blue was only available when the car first came out in 02 and it is now discontinued, is it true?
And also, how much do you pay for a G-35 sedan with premium and sport packages before taxes?

He is only partially correct, Twilight Blue was indeed discontinued but Infiniti is bringing back that color again for the 2004 model.

How's this for service?

The Infiniti dealer just loaned me a G35 sedan until Monday. He wants me to take it to BMW on Monday AM and compare it with a 330I, head to head.

I'm not sure what I'll end up buying. But, THAT was a good move on this dealer's part. Very good gesture.

It's a 2003.4, silver/black, sport, premium, with spoiler.

Sounds like a smart dealer! I drove both and IMHO, the G35 is superior. The BMW has a better inside finish and attention to detail, but the handling is not on par with the G35.

Now your dealer let's you take the car and the other dealer will not even let another person take a test drive? Sounds like you have a dealer who will provide good service after the sale!

Infiniti may just have lost a customer altogether. After the Jacksonville dealer gave me a hard time about driving the G35 Coupe, I stopped by the dealer in Orlando. They DID let me drive the 6-spd coupe--ON THE SERVICE ROAD IN FRONT OF THE DEALERSHIP! Total distance about .5 miles. I U-turned and went back and forth a copule of times for a total of a 2-mile test drive at up to 45MPH. I told the salesperson I wanted to see how it rode on the highway and on bumpier roads, he went and talked to his manager, and the best they would do is let me take a 6-spd SEDAN out. Sure, it was a nice car, but I want the coupe. I've got an appointment today to drive a 330i with the Performance Package, and with the way they're not hassling me about it, I probably will buy it if I like it enough. Maybe just Florida dealers suck like this, but no way do I buy a car from someone who treats me like these two did.

After being told that I will not be able to test drive a Coupe ( no cars available) I went considerably further to another dealer. Not only was the second dealer pleasant and receptive to a test drive, he took me on a 30 minute drive at highway speeds, curves, bumps, and the whole nine yards. I placed my order for a 04 Coupe with the second dealer because of the way I was treated. No one should buy a car without test driving! And don't be rushed or pressured for a short drive.You are not buying a pair of shoes.
