I second the question. I'm in NJ too and am curious about what the Dealers in NJ (especially northern NJ) are offering in terms of pricing on the G35x. Anyone have any recent buying experiences they'd like to share?

Also, anyone know if the Sport option for the G35x is available yet?

The can't wash the car thing sounds like old wives' tale BS to me. The cars are made in Japan and shipped over here by boat. Even if you purchased one right off the truck the paint has had weeks to "cure". The only exception would be if you purchased some of that rip-off "mop and glow" type paint protection from the stealer, I mean dealer. I guess with that stuff they could tell you not to wash the car for a bit, but I would never buy that stuff so I could not say.

LOL - it's not a paint thing, it's a lack-of-water thing. The original poster and I are located in GA and there are serious water restrictions - I haven't been able to wash my G35 since I bought it  . They recently upped the fines to $1000 for your 2nd violation ($100 on first) - that's an expensive car wash if you get busted!

Now that makes sense...I was not aware of the lack of water down there.

Gotcha! I though you were talking about "waiting for the paint to cure" or something. You should update your CarSpace profile to show your location :D .

I,m looking for aG35 with nav, preminum, and sport packages is Birmingham, Ala. We only have one dealer here and they are not interested in selling below msrp. Do any of you have any suggestions as to dealers close by that are willing to sell at a reasonable price?

    Thanks
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
Try Harper in Knoxville, Prebul in Chattanooga, and Gwinnett in Duluth, GA. I have contacts at all three, but you should be able to get a decent deal by going through the "Internet" department via their web pages. I think there was another GA dealer I talked to at one time that seemed to want to deal. Another dealer in AL was very helpful as well, but did not have a car available like I wanted. I have that info someplace buried in some notes :D .

  • crvjoecrvjoe Member Posts: 24
Thanks for the help. I did try Prebul and they would only come off $500 from sticker.
I have a request into Gwinnett, but have not received an answer. I'll try the Knoxville dealer next. I would have thought that dealers around here would be somewhat hungry, but that does not seem to be the case.

    Hi,

I recently leased a leftover 2007 G35x from Salerno Duane Infiniti in Denville, NJ. I had a wonderful experience and would totally recommend that you give them a try. They are definitely willing to negotiate. I got my G35x for $100 UNDER invoice. If you do go there, ask for Joyce, she is absolutely fantastic!

You are looking for an 07 or 08 coupe or sedan or x?

Shoot me an e-mail and I can pass along some info.

Hey, we may see your name in print!

    Infiniti G35 (sedan)
We need to know when you bought it, what you paid, your opinions (positive and negative) and other vehicles you considered. Include your mailing address, phone number and vehicle identification number (VIN). Mail your responses to AutoWeek, 1155 Gratiot Ave., Detroit, MI 48207, or e-mail autofile@crain.com. You may also fax to (313) 446-1027.

I think they usually want to hear from owners of the current or prior model year (this time of year) that have had the car < 1 year.

    Hi Dennis,

I'm looking for a '08 journey G35. with preminum, nav. sport, and splash guards. Either Platium Graphite or Blue Slate.

I really like the coupe, but have not found anybody even willing to talk below list.

    Thanks for your help.

I just got areply from one internet rep. He quoted me $35975 +499 doc fee + 43 title fee for '08 Journey G35 with preminum, nav., sports, and splash guards. I would have to pay tax in Alabama. Does this sould like a good deal?
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
That sounds good to me. An 08 with nav/premium/sport and the POE installed splash and trunk mat (seems like 99% of the G35s have both of these installed) would be $39,315 MSRP and $35,814 invoice. Your price would be $703 over invoice with the fees added in. That does not sound that bad. Make sure they didn't "forget" to put the $715 destination charge in the quote though. They sometimes "forget" and when you go to pick up the car they "remember" to add that in hoping you will either not notice or decide to go ahead and pay it rather than to have wasted a trip to get the car.

Can you share who gave you the quote or do you want to wait until you "consummate" the deal :D ?

I sent a couple of e-mails with your specs and also asked about the coupe prices. I will let you know what, if anything, I hear back.

    Awesome deal!
    Where are you located?
  • crvjoecrvjoe Member Posts: 24
I certainly appreciate your help. I will make sure that the price I was given included the destination charge before I make the trip,

I'm torn between the sedan and the coupe. I don't necessarily need the backseat room as I am single, but not sure the additional cost is worth it. My heart says go with the coupe: my head says the sedan. What does a 62 year old widower do?

Picked up a 2008 G35x from Competition Infiniti in St James, NY on 11/20/07. Options included Premium Package, Navigation, Splash Guards, and Cargo Net. My cash price was $35,982; 5 years @ 3.9%.
Very Nice people to deal with. Transaction was a pleasure. I even got a fair value for my trade in.

    Hi All,

I'm looking to lease a 2008 G35 Manual Sport Sedan with Technology Package, Navigation Sytem, and Premium Package.

Can you tell me what I should expect to pay? I was hoping to pay around $3,000 drive off, and about $450 a month tax included for my lease. I live in the Los Angeles area and need 15,000 miles per year for the 36 month lease.

Also, my current lease is up on Feb 1st, 2008.. but someone told me I can get a better deal if I lease the new car before the end of December. What do you guys think??

    Thanks!

I just received a quote on a 2008 G37 Journey with preminum, navigation, sport packages, and splash gards and trunk mat for $40000 out the door. This includes doc fee of $499 and $43 title. This sounds like a pretty good deal. Is it?

I'm interested in buying two nearly identical cars (same options, different colors) and I'm wondering how much this might help in negotiating a deal.

The car is a '08 G35x w/premium & nav. and I'm trying to get the monthly payment to $500 or less (incl tax) with nothing down.

Are there any general lease rate trends that suggest waiting a few months or does it depend on the year (state of the economy, recent sales, etc)?

Thanks very much for any advice!
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
I'm torn between the sedan and the coupe. I don't necessarily need the backseat room as I am single, but not sure the additional cost is worth it. My heart says go with the coupe: my head says the sedan.

I know what you mean, the extra power of the coupe is not an issue to me - but the extra money you have to pay for the coupe is. Equipped like you want (journey w/premium/nav/sport/splash/mat) the difference AT INVOICE is $3,559 ($39,373 VS $35,814). Say you could get the sedan for $1,200 over but the coupe would run you $2,900 over (even with a discount) then your net would be $5,259 more to drive the coupe. That IS a lot of money for less space and room.

When I checked the insurance for the coupe was a bit more as well, but not that much.

I did hear back from one of my guys, he has a blue slate/stone with journey/prem/nav/sport/net/splash/spoiler/mat ($39,925 MSRP) that he will sell for $37,534 ($1,200 over invoice) with $0 doc, prep of other add on fees - just TTL. Since you are out of state, you would probably just handle that yourself and just pay the dealer for the car. He has a platinum graphite/graphite equipped the same coming in and another slate/stone with the same stuff less the spoiler that you cold get for the same deal ($1,200 over invoice with no other fees). They also have the cheap financing like all the other Infiniti dealers - 2.9% to 3.9% for up to 60 months.

If you just gotta have a coupe, he will do $1,000 off of MSRP with no extra fees.

Click on my profile and send me an e-mail and I can pass along the contact info, if any of this sounds like something you want to follow up on.

    $40000 out the door

I have no idea, if you lived HERE I could tell you that would be a pretty good deal - since we have 7% state tax + $80 or so local tax on a new car purchase with no trade. If you lived in a low tax state then that would not be nearly as good a deal (which is why we don't talk about out the door prices :D).

    Dennis
  • crvjoecrvjoe Member Posts: 24
    Dennis,

Since that deal is in another state, I will have to pay Alabama tax when I regester at home.. If invoice is $39379 and I pay $40000, is that not $600+ over invoice? The doc fee and title are included in that price.
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
MSRP may be $39379 so you would be paying $600 over full price, right?

Normally "out the door" prices include the car, destination, dealer fee, title, tags, and all taxes. If you are offer $40,000 and then have to pay the taxes too, then that is a horrible deal.

I did a quick look and I don't see what the auto sales tax is on B'ham on a new car, but the guy I talked to would do a $39,925 MSRP sedan for $37,534 . So your price would be $37,534 then pay the AL taxes, title fee (looks like $12.75) and tags when you register and title the car back home. So if you know what the tax rate is, then just add that to the $37,534 and that would be about your total cost. So if it is 5% then it would be $39410.70 plus the tag and title fees at your local DMV.

If you are buying out of state it is doubtful the dealer will actual do your title work, unless perhaps they are a dealer near the state line and do this a lot. If they are not going to handle it, then no need to pay them the fee. An out of state dealer tried to charge me this - to be honest they get used to sticking that fee on all their dealers. When I pointed out to them they they would be sending ME the MSO and paperwork to take to the DMV they took the charge off.

    Dennis,

I sorry, I did not make myself clear that I was talking about the G37 coupe. Sticker is $43265.

    Does this sound better?

    Thanks,
    Joe
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
You typed it, I just missed it since we were talking about sedans and switched to a coupe :D .

$43,265 MSRP would invoice for $39,373 - so getting that for $40,000 including the dealer fee would be a great deal, then add TTL.

As I said before, you have to decide if paying thousands more to get the coupe is worth it over the sedan with the same equipment. It really is a rip-off price when you compare the two. I like the coupe better, but is it really worth the premium for 2 less doors and less space? Probably not, but is is your money (and mine, for that matter) :D .

    Gentlemen,

I just bought an '04 G35 Sedan, 6 speed manual with 43000 miles on it. I live in the SF Bay Area. The manufacturer's warranty 4 year 50K will expire in about 8 months. The dealer is offering extended warranty for $2300.I have never owned an Infiniti - how is the maintenance for this car, after 40K miles. Just trying to assess if additional $2K is worth the spend. Will appreciate your sharing insights on this topic.

    -04g35owner
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
The extended warranty will have nothing to do with the maintenance of the car, that you pay for in any case.

I would shop around online and try to find an Infiniti or Nissan dealer that will sell you the factory backed warranty for a lot less than this offer. If $2,300 was my only choice I would not take it. Something along the lines of $1,000 or so tops would be my limit, or I would just take my chances. I would also only get a factory backed plan, no 3rd party warranties.

With Premium / Nav / Wood / Cargo Net / Splash Guards from Legacy Infiniti on Long Island. I used CarBargains.org (which I HIGHLY recommend) to get bids from dealers in CT / NY and Legacy was by far the best.

Total came to $36,457 (invoice +$0 for the car and all options)

    Doc Fee: $45.00

    CT taxes are 6%

Felt very good about the deal and absolutely LOVE the car! Legacy was great to deal with, very professional, very communicative and transparent process. And a big thank you to Infiniti for subsidizing my financing with an amazing 3.9% apr... too good to pass up...

CarBargains is a total home run, I will never buy a car without them again - the best $190 i've ever spent. They ended up getting me 7 bids, the highest was Invoice + 1,200 and a $500 doc fee. There were several bids in the Invoice + 300 and a $45 doc fee range. Legacy beat them all at Invoice + 0... from there all i had to do was call Legacy and make arrangements to pick up the car! very easy...

Did this price also include DMV fees?
  • mcmitch26mcmitch26 Member Posts: 2
DMV fees were not included in that price, but it varies by state (i live in CT but bought the car in NY) and i'm not yet sure exactly how much it's going to cost, but it should be the same regardless of where i bought the car...

Last weekend I got my 08 G35 Journey Platinun Graphite with Premium Package. Price offered $34,400. Dealership: South Motors Infiniti. Did not have to haggle a lot about price and received a good deal for the trade in (03' G35). They were very professional and also hooked me up with the 3.99% 5 year financing. It was a good buying experience. The deal was completed in less time than expected. By my experience the Service people are very courteous. My first G35 purchased in April 2002 (03 Model) was the best car I had ever owned, never had problems so I was a repeat brand buyer.

I got quoted this for a infiniti g37 sport
    Nav package
    Tech package
    Sport package
    Primium package
    splash guards
    trunk mat + net
door foot guard light "infiniti" word

Quote $42000 + $99 documentation fee. The 42k includes a $600 or so charge to truck it in from another dealership.

This a rip off or good?

I added it up and it seemed like invoice price should have been around 39200.

    Thanks!

Anybody been able to go under sticker in NC yet? I really want a white G37 sport with premium/navigation but dont want to pay sticker price for it.
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
Most dealers are not selling coupes (G37) anywhere near invoice right now - and some are only taking off a modest amount from FULL MSRP. Of course, I am sure some deals are being made on them by motivated dealers. If you add up all the stuff on your list I get $39,584 (every possible option except spoiler and 4WAS) with an MSRP of $43,495 - both prices including the destination charge. So $42,000 would be way over invoice but a good bit under invoice - so at this time and for some areas this would be a good price, I guess.

What *I* would do is call around and find the car I wanted on the dealer lot myself and make a deal direct with them. If this dealer can do this price, then the dealer with that could as well - and you save the $600. In fact, I would shop around any dealer within a few hundred miles and all directions and you may find one that has lots of G37s on the lot, winter coming, and is more motivated to move the car that your local dealer. You only have to go to the selling dealer once - to pick up the car, then use the local dealer if you need service. Go get the car where you can get what you want for the best price.

How far are you from Knoxville, Duluth, GA, and/or Chattanooga? I am pretty sure you can get a coupe for maybe $1k under MSRP with $0 dealer fee at one of them and maybe a better deal at the others.

    Dennis
  • talk2marvintalk2marvin Member Posts: 6
I am about 4 hours away. I live in Winston-Salem right now and there are only 4 on the lot here with only 1 being manual. Im still not sure whether I want the Infiniti or a bimmer but the discount off MSRP could be a deciding factor.
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
The guy in Knoxville told me he would do $1,000 off of MSRP and they have $0 doc fee, you might be able to negotiate a better deal than that. You can also check with Gwinnett in Duluth - they may offer you a nice deal as well. Chattanooga is a bit out of the way for you, it looks like. E-mail me for contract info via my profile if you would like, or just go through their web pages.

I have had two BMWs (330i, M5) and they were great cars as long as they were not having problems :D . Even with the improvements, the G models still lag behind a bit as a "driver's car" but the gap is pretty narrow, but Infiniti has an edge in price and reliability and (to me) interior and exterior design. The G coupes retain value at least as well as a BMW coupe, I would think - the sedans do not seem to do quite as well. For 99% of the drivers and 99% of the situations the G is all anyone would need.

If you know someone who works for Nissan or you work for a supplier you can get a VPP price - which for most folks ends up about $300 over invoice (less any incentives or rebates). Makes for a simple transaction at a nice price.

A loaded up G37 sport (nav, tech, premium, etc) is under $40k invoice and around $43k MSRP. If you configure a BMW 335 coupe with cold/sport/premium/nav/active cruise/PDC/etc the INVOICE is $47,692 with an MSRP of $51.325. So on a loaded car, you cold buy the BMW at invoice and the G37 at full MSRP still pay nearly $5,000 more for it. However you want your car configured would effect that difference, but even stripped it will be a lot of money. Add in a discount off of the G MSRP and the gap is even wider.

I just purchased a G37 (Platinum Graphite) with Preminum, Navigation, Sport, Splash Guards, and Trunk mat, MSRP of $43275 plus doc.fee of $499 and Title of $43 for $40200 at Infiniti of Gwinnett in Atlanta. The only additional cost is my state tax of 2.00375% in Alabama.
They gave me a good trade in on my 2001 G20 and also gave me the $500 owner loyalty discount.

The experience was relatively straightfoward. Just a little back and forth. They are getting the car from another dealer in Atlanta and I will pick up Friday.

Was that 40,200 including the doc fee and title? Also did they charge you for the transfer? Im gonna look them up. Im exchanging emails with INfiniti of Charlotte right now but I havent gotten a price out of him as of yet. Im just happy to know that MSRP isnt the name of the game.
Heres the one they found for me.
    2008 G37 6mt 2dr
    ivory pearl with graphite interior
    cargo trunk net
    illuminated kick
    navigation package
    premium package
    trunk mat
    MSRP $42,145
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
That is a nice price, not much over invoice. Any time there is a trade involved there is a little risk that others could not go to the same dealer and get the same deal. For example, if they gave you $4,000 for a car that has a trade in value of $5,500 elsewhere then your deal is $1,500 higher than it appears. You said they DID give you a fair on your car - at least as much as other dealers or CarMax (Driver's Way or whatever) or as shown in Edmunds or KBB. That being the case, the cost of the car SHOULD be the same no matter if you had the trade of not.

    So nice deal!

You decided on the coupe after all - the premium for 2 less doors probably is not "Worth it" but I would probably do the same thing. I don't need 2 more doors and the coupe just as a bit more "wow" to it :D . The coupe retains value much more than the sedan and is a highly desirable used car, so whenever you are done with it (if ever) you should be able to get more of your money back than you would with a sedan.

Fingers crossed for good lease numbers for December, in my case.

I have got a quote in Houston Texas for a 08 G35 Sedan with sport and premium package (along with splash guards/trunk mat ) for 35,300 +TTL. It seems to be pretty difficult to get it down further. I really do not know what other leverage I can use to get the price down any lower
Do you guys think it is decent deal ? Any past experiences from anyone in Houston or even Dallas ?

    thks
  • crvjoecrvjoe Member Posts: 24
No, that did not include the doc. and title fees ($499 + $43). They did give me the $500 owner loyalty and deleted the fees. The only additional that I will have to pay is the 2.00375% state and county sales tax.

If you go with your head, you will go for the G35. Go with your heart and the G37 will win out. If I had not driven the coupe, I would have gone with the sedan, but one drive was all that it took. The dealer says he has it detailed and waiting for me to pick up on Friday. Looking foward to being a kid again!

I think i got a pretty good deal and am happy so far with the car. What do you guys think?
