Dennis that was my FIRST attempt at parking with only the back-up camera!!! :)

the invoice i saw for my car was $39,899 so technically according to that paperwork i only paid roughly $1000 over sticker, and to be honest Greenwich CT is too far to drive to, and the whole no one would budge on price thing made this a good deal for me.

MVS1-Ramsey NJ and the surrounding area is an especially affluent area in NJ. Athletes from many of the NYC sports teams live locally and so do many wealthy businesspeople and celebrities. They just don't care up there unless your in the dealerships ready to pay full price, or at least thats always how they've made me feel. Not to mention their lack of knowledge of their own products. So don't feel bad, i had to walk away from them too.

Hey, I messed up on both of my backup camera test drives :D .

My local dealer gets nearly $600 for a "doc" fee and adds clear bra, nitrogen, etc to all the cars before they are offered for sale so all the G's have > $1,000 in side-sticker add ons. So even if they sold you are car for "invoice" after you paid the fee and had to pay for the add-ons you would be > $1,600 or more over invoice.

Am I likely to get a car from them? Nope.

Thanks for the advice on Ramsey.

Unfortunetly I find the same problem here in CT. Tommy Hilfiger and 50 Cent have homes in these parts.

I wish they would hang out closer to the Bentley dealerships..UGH :P

I'm looking to purchase an 07 G35x with premium, navigation and tech packages along with splash guards and cargo net. My dealer gave me an OTD price of $38971. I live in VA where the state sales tax on vehicles I believe is 3.5%. I thought it was fairly decent.

My local dealer also includes with the purchase:

-2 years of schduled maintenance including the 30000 mile service
    -oil changes for life
-Full detail at 1 year anniversary
-$50 gift certificate on parts and accessories.
    -VA state inspections
    -Same day service appts
    -loaners for life
    -Unlimited car washes
    -Shuttle service to airport

Some of these things I expect from an Infiniti dealer, but others I thought were very nice. Wondering what your dealer benefits are....Better, worse, same?
  • ivanl3ivanl3 Member Posts: 30
Those perks are tremendous. The loaners are std., car washes during service are std, a couple free oil changes are normal, same day serveric is std... All the other stuff is above the norm.. The only thing I don't see that my dealer does is that they will pick my car up at my house on the day of 9or night before) service and drop the loaner off w/ me (and the return my car once service is done) rather than me going to the dealer....But all the other stuff you list are tremendous, enjoy.

Just picked up my black on black Journey G.
Had an absolutely awesome buying experience at Infiniti of Mission Viejo in Socal. Huge thanks to Twee Hayes who was very accommodating. Mike Thayer was good too.

    Here are the specs:
    Journey
    Cargo Net
    Moon Roof
    Splash Guards
    ^ $31,566.58
    Spoiler - $500
    CA Sales Tax - $2,489.42
    License Fees - $279.75

    Total OTD price - $34,890.75

I got a break on the pricing because the car they had for me apparently was sold before I got to it and the next one up had moonroof and splash guards which they basically gave me for $300. From what I can tell on Edmunds.com, the invoice price on all this stuff is $31,805 so I'm stoked.

Again can't thank the dealer enough. Twee was extremely pleasant to deal with. Definitely enhanced the buying experience. Pick a good dealer when you get your car, it can make a huge difference in the end. Whether through a lower price or just better and quicker service.

I got a G35x with premium, nav for invoice + $200 - $35,799. It had 700 miles on it as a demo, but my wife drives only 8000 miles per year so this didn't bother me.

Thanks to Infiniti of Lisle for a pleasant buying experience, and no thanks to Goldcoast Infiniti for lowballing me on the trade, or Fields Infiniti for their sleazy sales manager Steve's antics.

    Danielb,

I am going in the Lisle dealer this week. Thats good to hear you had a good experience there. Did you get any extra perks? Like the previous poster?

    Thanks

Here's my deal on a 2008 G35 Journey; Premium pkg, Nav pkg, Sport pkg, Splash guards, Trunk mat, Trunk cargo net.

Invoice + destination is 35860; MSRP is 39375. Made deal for 36860 (1000 over invoice). Added to this is 299 doc fee and of course state sales tax and title/registration.

Dealer claimed unable to waive or reduce the doc fee; I had originally negotiated to 1100 over invoice but got him to drop another 100 after being told of that fee, thus the 1000 over number. I'm effectively paying 1300 over invoice with no doc fee.

The dealer is looking for or trading for the car with another dealer so I haven't taken delivery yet; says it should be in by early November.

I came in with my own financing and there's no trade-in. Should I have done better? Later I felt like I could have gotten one or two hundred lower but not more. This is in Arizona at Infiniti of Tucson by the way.

Last Monday I picked up the exact same G35 here in Atlanta ('08 Journey w/ PRM/NAV/SPT and the extras). I paid $37,375 for mine - $2000 under MRSP, about $1500 above invoice. Best I could get from the dealers. I don't think I could have made a better deal, unless I wanted to wait a while for the '08 model availability to increase. Plus I was able to order the exact vehicle and color I wanted while in transit and have it delivered straight to the dealer - and it arrived two weeks early! Personally, I think you got a good deal and would not worry about $100 or $200. Just enjoy the car when it arrives :)

The service apptmts, loaners, car washes are pretty standard. My dealer in MD gives oil changes and tire rotations free for life(its only every 7500 miles and applicable as long as you do every service at their location which is okay) - so effectively its only every other oil change that is free. Full detail + 50$ is some 100$ value. "2 years of schduled maintenance including the 30000 mile service" is an infiniti of chantilly special - no one else offers it. Find out its value, factor it into your price and do the comparison.

You haven't given the break-up but seems like it could be an over the invoice deal. Two weeks back when I was shopping, passport infiniti and JBA infiniti were offering 300 below invoice on the 2007s.

Do the math and come to a decision - good luck!!

Anyone know what or if there will be any incentives for the '07's possibly '08's for Nov. Trying to decide when to pull the trigger. Thanks.
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
I would doubt there would be any incentives for 08 model cars any time soon. As to the 07s, I don't know. They have not offered anything on the left over 07 sedans and I know there are some dealers that still have quite a few of those. They are doing discounted lease deals on them (lower than market money factors and high residuals = nice payments), but no known dealer money. They are doing $2,500 in dealer cash to help move 07 COUPES, if you would like one of those.

I completely agree with you about Fields Infiniti, their price was nowhere near and they were sort of sleazy. When I bought my 07 G35 6MT Sport it was between Lisle and Motorwerks. I chose Motorwerks of Barrington since they had a better color (Platinum Graphite verses Garnet Ember).

Very happy with the deal and the car! Bought it on September 15th. :)

Had a great experience at Dorchel Infiniti in Rochester, they are honoring VPP pricing on the '08 and only added a very standard $99 wash/wax charge.

    MSRP: 41,025.00 (fully loaded)
    VPP: 38,001.68 (37,701.73 + 99.95 wash/wax)

Unfortunately I live in NY, so I get hit with 8% tax.

I live about 90 minutes away, but the local dealer near me is much smaller and wouldn't honor VPP pricing without adding a lot to it. I'd recommend Dorschel highly if you're near Rochester.

I worked with David K.. I can't speak for the non-vpp experience (ie. haggling), but he was great to deal with!

I ordered a 08, w/ premium, nav, tires, wood, for 35500 + ttl through VPP but was reading up on it again as I wait and realized that the tire package is:
W-rated summer performance tires - I was curious if anyone had advice on if this will be a bad feature for Dallas, TX? Will I need to change tires? Should I just get stock tires?
  • gooddeal2gooddeal2 Member Posts: 750
I would say you should be o.k w/ summer tires in Dallas. You might get light snow/ice 2 or 3 times/ year, right?
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
In Dallas, I would say the summer tread tires should be just fine. They should offer better wet and dry grip, but would give up pretty easy in the cold or with ice or snow.

    Other things to think about:

The standard non-6mt tires are 55 series and are the same front and rear - so you can rotate them to extend the life of the tire. You can get nice replacement all season tires for under $100 each from TireRack.

If you get the performance tire package you get staggered sizing with wider rear tires and wheels so you can't rotate them. While this helps handling it could lead to quicker tire wear out. Also the tires are likely softer rubber, which helps dry and wet handling at the expense or quicker wear. They are also 50 series front and 45 series rear - again a lower profile helps handling at the expense of ride comfort and the worry of denting a rim on a pot hole. The real "gotcha" comes when you try to find replacement tires in this 18" staggered size - TireRack only sells two models and they are $174-206 (plus shipping) each. Ouch!

Note that the new G35x tire and wheel package uses the same size 50 series front and rear so you can rotate them, but choices are few in this size and quite expensive as well.

So while *I* would probably order the sportier tires I would recommend you think about it first. Try to drive a car equipped with the package before deciding. The price and longevity of the grippier tires along with the harsher ride may make you decide to keep your money and have the dealer delete that package from your order. If you don't have another car to drive when/if you do get a bit of winter weather then you would have to stay home or catch a ride if you have a summer tire equipped car.

Just purchased 2008 G35x navigation, premium package. $1500 off MSRP plus $199 ttl. I think I could have done better if I had been willing to spend the time haggling.

I just purchased the same combination from Legacy Infiniti in Lynbrook, NY with a GPS system for $35,650. I dealt with 2 great people there, Terrill and Jay. No pressure and very professional.

I would certainly recommend Legacy & the employees there.

What dealership (and salesperson) were you in contact with? I'm in the Tulsa, Ok area, and they do not appear to be very flexible. A couple dallas dealerships appear to be a little more flexible. I'm willing to travel around 250 miles if it works (meaning dallas, OKC, or KC). Anyone have any suggestions for me?

I seen a 05 G35 coupe 6spd. and fall in love with it, it currently has 39.8k miles. Was stickered at 29,988.. i found they posted it online for 27,988. i went shopping still found the same car about 30min away with 2k less miles and 1k less price tag. so i threw that into the equation talked to 1 of there reps they said 27,000 is lowest they can go...
so next day i talked to there internet sales manager...we talked, i told him i wanted it for under 26k, he said he will call me back and let me know what he can do... he gave me the price of 25,955. Is that a good price? it also comes with Navi by the way :). im thinking of buying it today just wondering if thats a good price. let me know thanks :)
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
Check here at edmunds, KBB.com, NADA, and other online free price sites to see what the trade in and retail values of the car you are looking at shows for your area. If you can get the car for the trade in number with the model, color, condition, and options included in the quote then you have a pretty good deal.

Also check used car listings online at cars.com, autotrader.com, etc for the ASKING price for similar cars. If you find others with fewer miles for less money then the one you are looking at is not that good a deal no matter what the price guides say.

Personally I would try to find one with more warranty and fewer miles, but I don't know if you could for the same price - I have not shopped for a used G coupe.

it comes with the factory warranty, i looked online at autotrader i couldn't find any with navi. only 2 and both were 26,995 and other was 27,988. (i got the one with 27,988 down to the 25,955) the rest of the coupes are near the same but have no navi, :(. I took your advise and seen what KBB.com said its worth, retail it was $31,555, private party was 28,730 and trade in was 25,925... on nada clean trade in was 27750, and clean retail is 31550. so im assuming 25,955 is a good deal?
  • gooddeal2gooddeal2 Member Posts: 750
I think 26K is a good deal. I think 27750 for trade in is high. IMO, a dealer will pay at most 25K for this car.
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
Sounds like a decent price then. Most dealers will not really give full KBB trade in for a car, but you are within $1k of that price - which means you would be getting it for a not much more than you could get trade in for it.

The Nav system in that coupe is pretty crummy. You can't work it while the car is in motion (without a warranty voiding hack). You can buy a nice Garmin GPS for a little over $200 and a really nice one for a bit more. If you can get the Nav included for "free" that it is OK, but I would not pay any more for it than I would a non-Nav equipped car. The map update for that car is $199 and I don't think it is very current. I think you will find many, many errors and the maps and POIs way out of date in the system. I think you are one year short of it having voice command as well.

Nice cars, but like most OEM Nav systems way too expensive (when new), way too expensive to update, not frequently updated, out of date before you buy it, and does not work as well as cheaper aftermarket systems. So get the car if that is what you want, but not for the Nav system - get it for the car itself :D .

is 2007 g35x sedan at almost invoice a good deal? Edmunds says coupe has 2500 marketing support. will the dealer use that to apply to my car? if so, should I take some that off the price I am willing top pay?
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
There is no known dealer money on left over SEDANS only on coupes. So if you want the x sedan around invoice may be as good as you can do - as long as the dealer does not add a large "doc" or prep fee on top of the price.

If you want a coupe, then $2,500 or so under invoice would be a good price.

I'm new at this but I did read I can't include the salespersons name. I bought the car from Major Infiniti in KC MO. The salesperson was far more knowledgable than anyone at BMW, Mercedes etc. Before I recommend them read on. They did not have the car I wanted, they had to pick it up from a dealer in Wichita. I get the car tomorrow. I was in a hurry when I left the dealership, I think they may have over charged me or at least they weren't up front with all the costs. When I questioned the price I was told I didn't include the cargo net (i didn't order that), $715 destination (I expected that but it wasn't discussed), and $150 for splash guards. If you need any tech info on the G35x Jerrod knows it all.
  • myr11myr11 Member Posts: 2
I am looking to possibly buy a 2007 g35x with premium package. What can I expect to pay for this as a certified pre owned vehicle with around 10-15k miles on it? What would it cost to get one fairly new with only a few thousand miles? I have looked it up but any first hand information would be appreciated thanks!
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
"Forgetting" to include the destination fee in the price quote is an old trick and one you should be aware of and make sure all quotes include the car, destination, and any dealer doc or prep fees.

The cargo net and splash guards are "port installed options" and on the cars around here Infiniti puts them on about every car when they hit the port and before the dealer gets them. Extra profits for Infiniti, I guess. If you custom order a car from the factory and wait months for it to come in - it is likely to have the PIO junk on it when the dealer finally gets it. And yes, you would have to pay for the stuff they added.

2007 G35 coupe with premium package paid $33225.00 for everything including tax, title, and tags. Was this a good price?

Sounds like a good price, was that one of the last ones is Oxnard, or where did you buy it? That's about what I paid for one without the premium pack about 6 weeks ago in Oxnard! Good buy! :shades:

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. Since I'm a city dweller, I didn't focus much on the percs...

I think carwashes and loaners are standard, but they didn't offer any oil changes or included service.

They did say that they have the largest fleet of loaners, and their wait time for a loaner was much shorter than the other dealers, though who knows if that's true. He also said they stock most of the parts for the Chicago market, so they can service the cars faster - again, who knows if it's true?

I did call motorwerks as well and they were willing to make a deal as well... i believe i talked to Joel at motorwerks hoffman estates, and he seemed very reasonable on the phone. however, we were happy enough with the deal we got at Lisle that we didn't want to bother driving up to barrington or hoffman estates.

Fields Infiniti near Chicago is currently offering $7500 off MSRP for 07 coupes.

So, a coupe w/ Premium for 29.5K? That's good price.
  • dat2dat2 Member Posts: 251
Wow, that is awesome. The new coupe is not worth like 8 grand more than the 07 model, is it. Now I have buyers remorse because I bought my new 07 coupe in early Sept at 4000 off! Man I wish I could have gotten the 7500 off, that would have taken care of my upside down payoff...

Just started looking at the G35X AWD Sedan and LOVE it. Found a used 2007 w/ 12k that was a previous lease. Price is $27998.00 has most of the goodies incl premium package and moonroof. No Nav system. But thats ok my garmin will work. I drive approx. 25k miles per year traveling through all kinds of Western PA weather so I am happy with the AWD. Color is Garnet with Graphite interior. Any opinions from the experts on price are appreciated....Original warranty is included but I don't know what that is yet....
    Thanks!!!!

Does anyone know if November's APR and MF will be any better on '08 sedans?

I know the FED has now lowered the rate .25% again today. I'm looking at an '08 Journey with Premium Package, Nav,
Sport Package and Technology Package on a 24 month lease ($1k down) or a 60 month purchase ($2.5k down) and was quoted a MF .00231 or 6.4% APR in October.

I'm hoping these will be reduced in November - anyone know?

    Thanks in advance!
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
If folks quit buying and leasing the sedans then Infiniti will drop the rates quicker - that is all we know. If sales are good and "days supply" of sedans is short then are not likely to make things better. It may be March or April next year before we see rates a LOT better - if you go by last year's numbers. Of course, last year the sedans were a new model and likely had stronger sales than they enjoy this year.

I live in the Dallas area and last year was rough even with all season tires and a front drive car, not to mention that I am an experienced winter driver originally from Idaho. I am currently pondering a G35 Sport 6MT or a TL-S 6MT and a few others. The problem with the summer tires is that below 50 degrees they have poor traction, not just on snow or ice. The wide profile also makes it worse in the winter. Add that to a road full of idiots who can't drive in the winter and you have a nail biting commute. If you have another car, keep the summer tires and drive the other car when there is precipitation. If you have the space and the extra change, get a second set of "standard" G35 wheels and put "winter" tires on. If you do not consider yourself a good winter driver, or feel at all uncomfortable on snow and ice, don't even take the chance!

Personally I don't feel like buying a second set of tires because I don't have much room for them, so that is a demerit for the G35. Bear in mind, (as I had said) that I am an experienced winter driver, and on that one Wednesday that shut down the metroplex last winter.... I actually had fun driving from Arlington to my office in Fort Worth (when I was not screaming at the slow idiots to get out of the passing lane). I don't think I want to push my luck with even less traction than I currently have, and in a new car that is nearly 40K. I hope that helps. :shades:
