Thanks for the info. I am also interested in the accessories you had installed. The car looks so much better with the running boards, body-side molding and fender wells.
Since you paid MSRP for these accessories, what should I be paying as a reasonable cost for installation? I just want to be able to ask for quotes for the vehicle plus the installed accessories. I do not want to negoitate a price for the accessories separately. I preferred a price for the whole package.
I went to my local dealer and test drove the vehicle and they had able 40+ MDX on the lot. The sales guy said, "Make an offer, any offer because as you can see, there is not a shortage of the vehicle on the lot."
Thanks in advance.
This morning I received a follow up call from a salesman at Claire Acura in MA, asking if I was still interested. He said he had the MDX I was looking for, and was now willing to go down into the mid $37,000s.
Based on a previous post, I may wait until March to see if Acura actually offers a rebate and lower APR financing on the '06 MDX, but I wanted to share a reference point for anyone who needs it.
I wonder if Acura is thinking the release of the new RDX may siphon off some buyers who would have bought the MDX.
can you pass the dealer info please?
To reply to your question, the cost of the four add-ons came to a total of $2,275. This is what I paid for each, including installation:
The Running Boards (MSRP $549) were $592.
The Fender Flairs (MSRP$669) were $719.
The Tailgate Spoiler (MSRP $379) was $404.
The Wood Steering Wheel (MSRP $549) was $560.
The cost of the '06 Touring/Nav was $38,755. The installed add-ons brought the total cost to $41,030 before tax, license and doc fee. My out-the-door cost was $45,006.
After I took delivery, I purchased the following accessories that I could install myself over the Internet from HondaAcuraWorld.com:
Rear cargo tray
Cargo cover
All season floor mats (heavy rubber)
Wood dash trim
Moonroof visor
Wide body side moulding
The prices I paid for these items was heavily discounted over their MSRP costs. You can visit the web site to see the prices.
Hope this helps.
P.S. I tried to post this info yesterday, but Edmunds was having some technical difficulty with the site.
I will be calling Pleasanton and ask for the same options but with the body side moulding included in the four dealer installed accessories you mentioned.
I plan to ask for an out the door price to see if they will give me a discount on the accessories. This will be done in March when we find out if the Acura rebate is true or not.
I presumed that you negotiated the price of the vehicle then you ask to include the accessories after the fact?
After agreeing to the $38,755 price for the Touring/Nav, I explained that I wanted some add-ons and that I was thinking about buying them at discount over the Internet, installing those that I could, then paying the dealer to install those I couldn't. When I learned that the flat rate labor charge was $125/hour, I chose the four add-ons I didn't feel confident installing myself (fender flairs, running boards, tailgate spoiler and wood steering wheel) and asked for the best installed price of the items. The Internet/Fleet Manager gave me the prices I mentioned in my last reply, and because the cost sounded reasonable to me, I went ahead and bought them installed.
You mentioned that you would have the dealer install the body side mouldings if you bought an MDX. The price I was offered was $249 installed. But I wound up buying the same mouldings over the Internet for $170 and installed them myself with a little help from a friend. That took place today. Total time was about 45 minutes. Not a problem. They come with heavy cardboard templates that make them very easy to line up straight. While the $79 saving isn't a big deal when we're talking about a $45,000 vehicle, it does represent two tanks of gas.
Thanks!

But when you begin to discuss leases, the purchase price can get muddled depending on the type and length of lease, interest and other factors.
As for the cargo cover and bike mount, you can save some money by purchasing them over the Internet instead of the dealer. On the other hand, once you settle on the price of the MDX, it certainly wouldn't hurt to tell the person you are dealing with something to the effect, "Throw in the cargo cover and bike mount and you've got a deal." These are relatively low cost items for the dealer, and if they really want to move an MDX off their lot, they just might agree to include them in the price you agreed on. If they won't budge or give you a decent discount on the two items, I suggest you buy them over the Internet.
The only way I know how to determine the cost to have an accessory installed -- such as the bike hitch mount -- is to ask the dealer. The cargo cover is a no brainer and can be installed by yourself (it just snaps into two holders). That is probably the case with the inside bike mount as well. I don't know anything about the bike hitch mount.
I don't know what your situation was, but buyers who either finance or lease a new buggy need to be aware that the purchase price alone isn't the bottom line. A dealer will be happy to sell a car at well below invoice if he can make up the difference with a higher interest rate on a purhase or lease. It's amazing how something so small as a one percent difference in the interest rate of a long-term lease or loan can affect the true cost of a vehicle.
estimated total is 38,255
total estimated is 38,255
dealer wants me to pay 36,540(is that a good deal).
With an MSRP of $37,125 ($37,740 with the $615 destination fee), you're talking about a base MDX that has an invoice of $34,074. I personally think $38,255 for the vehicle is a lousy deal, even with the floor mats and wheel locks.
First of all, the all season floormats for the MDX can be purchased over the Internet from www.hondacuraworld.com for $97.50, and the wheel locks for $35.50. That's quite a difference from the $291 and $88 the dealer is charging for the same identical items.
As to the cost of the MDX itself, you should be able to purchase the vehicle for a few hundred over the invoice price of $34,740, or somewhere between $35,000 and $35,500. The price the dealer wants you to pay is roughly $2,466 above invoice and somewhere in the neighborhood of $1,200 off MSRP.
I suggest you go back a page or two and read message #2903 very carefully. It details my experience last month when I bought an '06 Touring/Nav from the Fleet/Internet Manager at my local Acura dealership.
Good luck!
I am trying to lease an 06 MDX Touring with DVD and NAV.
I am being given a money factor of .00140 and a 57% residual? Is this right for NJ and PA area? Or should I be lookinig for a higher residual rate.
Thank You in advance.
The best advice I can give you is to either wait and see what changes Acura makes to the '07 model, or find an '06 you want. Either way, your first contact should be with the dealer's Internet/Fleet manager, and ask him or her what their best price is on the particular model you are interested in. That's what I did, and I paid close to invoice. No pain. No hassle.
By the way, if you make contact anytime soon, you should choose another Acura dealer in your area than the one you just got through dealing with. It can be awkward to deal with someone other than the person who first tried to sell you a vehicle.
I recall when the new TSX arrived at the time when the TL was outgoing for a new model. Initially you could get the outgoing TL for about the same $$ as the new TSX.
I am wondering / hoping a similar thing occurs with the 2006 MDX when the 2007 RDX appears and 2007 MDX is just about here.
I plan to pay it off in one year, therefore, I did not even bother to negotiate the APR. They gave me 4.9% for four years. The rate is just decent, cosidering some people can get it for 2.9%. My wife is a coborrower and her credit is not good.
Congratulations again on the purchase price. Ya done good!
I was able to get even better price because I was very lucky. So be happy with any deal that is lower than invoice for luxury cars. The whole buying experience should be fun and not stressful. That is the most important thing.
Good luck.
06 touring/nav/res
$40.5K ($25K for my 05 ML350)
and $41K ($27K for trade)
Are these quotes sound excellent, good, fair or bad?
Thanks,
Cost includes dest: (the first paid is what I found in this news group, the second paid cost is what I found on the web/edmunds)
Model TRIM MSRP Invoice Paid Paid
------------------ ------- ------- ------- --------
MDX Base $37,125 $33,459 $33,221 $35,621
MDX Touring $39,950 $36,002 $36,117 $38,340
MDX Touring + NAVI $42,700 $38,477 $38,155 $40,970
I am in the market for the Touring + Navi and any input on the Navi feature would be great. Do people find this feature distracting at all? Can you disable it if you wish (not sure if this is on the Acura site, but I could not find it.) Does anyone have any more cost information in the MA area?
Can anyone actually confirm if Acura will be offering under invoice pricing? If so I will wait until it is offered.
Thanks for your help in advance
Of course, even though my lease payments were negotiated to my calculations, numbers on the dealer's paperwork were quite a bit off, both selling price and residual. But since I'm not planning to buy it out after 3 years, I do not care.
Thanks
Has anyone else who is connected with acura or who knows someone connect to acura able to verify the rebate info?
Is the rebate only on the MDX?
Is the rebate possibly on the TL also?
Is the rebate only applicable when you use the dealers financing?
If I am looking at picking up a TL and MDX both with Nav at the same time, what would you expect dealers would be willing to price out at since they would get 2 at the same time?
Is it better to buy 1 at a time?
Also, when you take tax title license fees and destination into consideration when does taxes apply? is that based off the negotiated price? or price with destination? or all the above? when is taxes applied?

Thanks to all,

Thanks for any input.....
Any advice would be great.
Thanks
To set your absolute ceiling, you could go to www.carsdirect.com
In California, on carsdirect.com you can get that car for anywhere from $40-41k based on where you live (or where you are willing to pick up the car).
$42k seems rich no matter where you are

I bought a new Touring with Nav (no RES) six weeks ago and paid $38,755 before purchasing some add-ons, and before tax and license was added. The fleet manager at my dealership sold me the MDX for $337 under his invoice price of $39,092.
After having the dealer install the fender flairs, side running boards, tailgate spoiler and a wood steering wheel, the price became $41,828. With tax and license, my final out-the-door cost was $45,006.81. This was a cash deal. No financing was involved.
If you determine that the offer isn't close to the invoice price of $40,442 for a Touring with Nav and RES, I suggest you call another dealer, ask to speak to the Fleet/Internet manager and ask him or her what their best price is on the MDX you are interested in.
By the way, best price I've received on a '06 MDX with Nav and no other options is $37,999.
By the way, best quote I've received on a '06 MDX with Nav and no other options is $37,999 in the Chicago area.
Nonetheless, feedback welcome, and thanks to this list for the help over the years...
2006 MDX Touring/NAV/RES, Sagebrush/Ebony
Reargate spoiler
Total cost after tax and tags = $45,000
I worked out the deal to about $40,750, or about $200 over invoice for the base car, then got them to add the spoiler and round it off at $45K after tags and taxes.
Car is great, but can't seem to ever close the tailgate fully on the first try...
I live in Austin, TX and I'm just now beginning the search.
I am getting the Touring w/RES (DVD). I didn't know if invoice or better could be expected or not. Thanks for any input!!!!!
Thanks
Thanks
Otherwise try Ed Napleton Acura. So far I've received the best quote from them. $37,999 for 06 MDX with Nav.
May be due to the build-up of the interior air pressure when the tailgate comes down. Open one of the windows or the moonroof an inch or so, then see if the tailgate will latch on the first attempt.
