Bought a 05 Touring with Res for Inv - 1500 from pohanka Acura. The salesman threw in the wheel locks for free. Have got running boards also for another 700. Does any one know whether I should go to the dealer for other accessories - like the cargo liner, all weather mats.

The vehicle is damn good. Rides smooth and feels firmly planted on the ground. Iam curious about the mileage though/

If 2007 is the year the MDX gets redesigned, when can I see it?
  • gatorjeffgatorjeff Member Posts: 3
I just bought an '05 last week from Pohanka for $1600 under invoice for Touring RES and Nav. They threw in the rear trunk liner and the separation net at my request. Great to deal with.

Radley said they would match and they give free oil changes to everyone which Pohanka will not. I chose Pohanka due to location since Radley is too far to worry about free oil changes.

I am not sure if the $1500 dealer incentive extended into November.

Sounds like a good deal. In my opinion, you need to be less than invoice (b4 taxes). Good luck.

i got the following quotes from a couple acura dealers in MD and VA

    2005 MDX w/ Touring package + running board = $35,354
    OTD = $37,466

2006 MDX w/ Touring package + running board (1 dealer gives lifetime oil change)
    OTD = $39,500

    Danhb....

Go for the 2005 model if you plan to keep the vehicle for 3-5 years. It make good money sense to get the discount , instead of paying above invoice for the current model.

Seriously considering moving out of my 98 RL into an MDX but may wait a year if major changes are coming in 2007. Keep reading that's the case here but can't find anything at all on Edmnunds or anywhere else on the web. Anyone know the real story? If anyone has dealt with a Baltimore Acura dealer recently for the MDX, I'd like to hear price and experience. Thanks.

Purchased a 05 MDX with Nav last week for $37,600 (inc dest) in Chicago suburbs. Could probably have gotten them down to $37,330 (invoice-$1500). However, was getting a little tired after spending a whole day at two other dealers with the old sales tactics. Saved almost $200 by buying in Lake County as a Cook County resident (even after accounting for the "use tax" bill that IL sends you).

The other two dealers were running out of 05's and quoted 06's as well:
    1. $38,874 (05 w/Nav); $40,500 (06 w/ Nav)
    2. $39,300 (05 w/Nav+rubber mats+molding); $40,800 (06 w/ Nav+rubber mats+molding)

Regarding TTL......this is required of all Tx dealers....I believe inventory tax was put in back in the Ann Richards (former Governor) days....and was/is supposed to go to the Education/Teachers funds (I heard that but cant confirm it)

Title, license, etc are the same on any car when you go to register it. The $5o doc fee is for the time/person/gas/insurance for a runner to take car of all the paperwork thru the state/county to register your vehicle....these are all legit.

For 05'(base) "my" dealer started from 34,000.
    The invoice price : http://www.internetautoguide.com/car-pricing/09-int/2005/acura/mdx/
So, I think that for 05' base I will have to pay around 30,000.
They have 06' in stock. So, why overpay.

Thanks to Forum, I went in armed and dangerous looking for an '05 Touring w/ Navi. The thing is, we lease all our cars and I wanted a car payment in the low $600, high 500 range for 42 mo's. We haggled, but even with getting them to commit to $1600 under invoice and absolutely no money down, there was no way they could get the money factor low enough to get me anywhere less than $697. This made sense since I'm sure by now the '06 residuals have been published. We though we were done and just going to walk out empty handed when the manager offered us an '06 instead. I hadn't even considered it since why would I want to pay over invoice when I could pay under for basically the same vehicle? This works for cash or financing - it's a diff game with leasing. There is apparently a new lease incentive on the 06' touring w/ Nav @ 12k miles cap per year that lowers the Money factor to a crazy .0016 which is the equiv of around 2.8 - 3.0%. This got us a $620 lease payment for 42 mo's. I can pre-pay additional mileage at .10 per if I think I'll go over. To do a 15k yearly mileage cap would have been about $645. I asked for extra's like the cargo net and trunk liner and was told they had no money to go anywhere, I don't know if I believe that, but it's not worth bickering over - especially since the sales rep and manager were really very nice, suprisingly. I did get the door ding, paint scratch, wheel scracth, protection plan thrown in though. It's only $85 I think or maybe a little more, but on a leased vehicle, it's nice to know if anything minor happens, I can take it in and get it taken care of. All in all, I was in and out in 90 minutes - awesome. All the folks at Pohanka are very professional and nice. I would definitely buy from them again and certainly recommend. Also, for those of you considering Radley - what animals they are!!! Obviously it's a highly competitive business and they do have stiff, established, and highly reputable competition with Pohanka, but they are absolutely rude and cut throat! Just beware when you talk to them, I recognized a few bait-n-switch tactics when I initally started poking around for pricing. Also, the "free" oil changes they offer, not entirely true. If you investigate it, they put you on a schedule so you can really only get between 2 - 3 changes per year - structured for very light drivers to deter abuse. It's really not as great a program as it sounds. Anyway, I love my MDX! Thanks to all of you out there who posted info! :)

I bought a new 2005 MDX/Nav/DVD from Radley about 4 months ago. The experience was very business like. I negotiated invoice minus $1500 on the phone and went to pick it up. The MDX that I had picked out had a dent so they had to drive over another exact model from a different lot. The sales guy rushed me on the test drive. He didn't want to go all the way to the highway. I insisted that I need to drive the MDX at highway speed before purchase - no problem. All in all it was a business like purchase. It felt like any other commodity. I really love the vehicle. It is very reliable.....I actually had purchased a brand new 2005 Corvette that turned out to be a lemon. I installed a 10" powered subwoofer in the MDX. It really make a difference over the standard sub. Anyway, I would advise anyone purchasing from Radley --- Know what you want and go get it.

I ran into this same issue just recently, and read this on their Dealer's Order:

"The Dealer's Inventory Tax charge is intended to reimburse the dealer for add valorem taxes in its motor vehicle inventory. The charge, which is paid by the dealer to the county tax assessor-collector, is NOT a tax imposed on a consumer by the goverment, and is not required to be charged by the dealer to the CONSUMER."

It appears the tax is issued by the state to dealerships, and they are passing the tax on the sales of the car, but it also appears they can waive this expense.

Where did you purchase your Acura?

Hi all, My MDX - NightHawk is 3 weeks young. Bought from Pohanka. Wondering whats good for cleaning / waxing . How do MDX owners clean their vehicles.
  • ss75ss75 Member Posts: 5
How much should I pay for the base 06' MDX? I am thinking $34k. If I go with the 05' how much do you think?

Also is the $1500 incentive still at the dealership?
  • indus2indus2 Member Posts: 20
'06 base MDX can be had for invoice (around $34K) or a little below, at least in the tri-state area. I believe $1500 incentive on the '05 model is still there.
  • stone3stone3 Member Posts: 9
I bought my camry at $ 20,000 8 years ago because I did not know how to negotiate at that time. Yesterday I bought MDX touring '05 more than 6,000 off from MSRP thanks to you and edmunds.com. I checked two dealers and there weren't many '05's left. Luckily both places had the color that I wanted and by comparing quotes from those two places I was able to get that discount. I am really looking for driving MDX next week.

Check the invoice price in the edmunds.com. Dealer incentive of $1500 is still in effect for 05 MDX.

    Documentary Fee $ 50.00

I just bought a Brand new 05' MDX (non-touring) for $31.5k. Was this a good deal?
  • bkunbkun Member Posts: 11
One of my friend told me that he heard from his friend who is a salesman at Acura that in the month of Feb, Acura will be offering $2000 below invoice for all 06 MDX.
Apparently looks like they want to sell all 06 before the next gen MDX rolls in. He also told that in the summer of 06, there will be a bigger rebate plus low-low Apr for financing

Hi. Through Edmunds.com I found a dealer in my area willing to sell me an MDX w/Nav & DVD for $39,297. He gave me a rate of 3.99% -- which is great (I'm financing, not leasing) - but it's only good until Dec. 1.

I know that Honda has this rate as well...

Does anyone know if they (Acura Corp.) are going to continue with this rate in December (since I didn't want to buy it so quickly), or should I bite the bullet and buy this MDX with such a low rate?
  • stone3stone3 Member Posts: 9
    Hello,

I bought MDX touring a few days ago. When I bought a car, the salesman said that the mileage was 4. When I drove out a car from dealership, I found out that the mileage was 37. Should I complain about this?

    Thank you
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 266,851
    $0.15 per mile at 33 extra miles = $4.95..

If that is the only problem you have after buying a new car... then count yourself lucky... ;)

Hello folks.. well guess what.. finally did it. Bought a 2005 Mdx w/ Navi and Dvd for 38,300 (includes destination, wheel locks, body side moulding, all weather mats, and cargo tray, one free oil change). I didn't care so much for the DVD player but this was the only 2005 Mdx left in thier inventory. I wanted Black on black, or aspen white, but settled for Silver on Quartz since its all they had left. I did want to buy it from this specific dealer since its closer to my work and they give unlimited free carwashes. CAN YOU FOLKS TELL ME IF THIS WAS A GOOD PRICE?
  • dave210dave210 Member Posts: 242
That seems like a very good price including the extras you got thrown in for free.

To put it in perspective, I paid $41,000 (exactly sticker price in 2003) for my 2003 Touring/Navigation that I had to wait 4 months for and that was with NO accessories at all.

So, it seems much better deals can be had now. What dealership did you do business with? McGrath, Continental? I used Acura of Libertyville, but they don't offer the unlimited free car washes.
  • master1master1 Member Posts: 340
No car has a gas mieage of 4. Read what it says in the sticker of the car.
  • mugenex6mugenex6 Member Posts: 33
Who said anything about Gas Mileage? He said he had to wait for 4 months.
  • directordavedirectordave Member Posts: 3
I missed the boat on the 3.9% interest rate being offered by Acura financing out here in Southern California. The salesman indicated that Acura might do the same thing again at the end of December...so I'm waiting.

    Can anyone confirm this rumor?
  • venkatnvenkatn Member Posts: 5
    Hi,
MDX w/Nav & DVD for $39,297. He gave me a rate of 3.99% -- Is it on 2006 model? I got a quote (know this is too much)for 2006 with the above model for 40,500. Invoice price he quoted is 40,442. At what price I should be lookin at? If your quote is on 2006, let me know the sales person and I will take it.

Help! I am in the process of buying a 2005 MDX with navigation before the end of this year and Keyes Acura tells me they will meet or beat anybody else's price, period. So if there is anyone out there who has purchased a recent MDX in the LA area for under the invoice price and would like to share the particulars of the deal (i.e. dealership, date of purchase, specifics of the deal, etc.) I would love to use the information. I have read accounts of people buying 05 MDX's for as much as $1500 under the invoice listed on Edmunds.com but I think I will need a specific and local transaction to get the deal matched at Keyes. I know that Honda is giving a $2,000 cash incentive to the dealership on the MDX through the end of January, 2006, so I don't think getting the car at $1500 under invoice is unrealistic. Or is it?? Any help would be appreciated.

I have been reading this forum for the last couple of weeks and yesterday I finally purchased a 06 MDX touring with navigation for my wife. Price paid 38.3 including destination, wheel locks, tray mat and all weather floor mats.

Here is the buying experience: I used Edmunds to get quote from dealers. I went to the dealer that offered me the best quote for a test drive. My wife loved the car, but we told the dealer we wanted to test drive other vehicles before purchasing. As we were leaving the dealer ask me what he could "to close the deal today." We agreed that he would pay for the destination fee that was not included in the Internet price. We drove the car home yesterday and I got coffee in bed this morning. :)
  • raybarbraybarb Member Posts: 1
Hey guille57 ....are you also in the LA area? We're just pricing the '06 now on Long Island and we're wondering how low they will go. ;)
