I forgot to mention $41700 is for touring/navi+dvd.
Noone is giving me a better quote.
What it is the best price to agree upon?
    Thanks
  • miked3470miked3470 Member Posts: 25
Your price of $41,700 for touring/navi + dvd sounds extremely high. Locally, we've got a dealer selling all MDX vehicles at about $2,500 under dealer invoice (that's right under dealer invoice, not under MSRP). Dealer invoice would be $40,442 (which includes destination). I can get this fully loaded model for right around $37,942 in my area.

There is no way that you should be paying over dealer invoice for a 2006 MDX, at this time. The most you should pay should be $1,000 under dealer invoice, and that's just an ok deal.

Any dealers aggressive in the Missouri area?

I am in the Washington DC area.

I am in Phoenix and was looking at the MDX with Nav. Do you have the Dealer info? I am willing to drive for $ savings.
  • stanmstanm Member Posts: 2
Not going to drive that far. I thought I read that you were in Fresno,CA. Sorry

I am in the Saint Louis area and haven't had much success with the pricing that I have seen others on the forum mentioning. Anywone in the area had any luck? I don't mind driving a a bit to get a good deal. Thanks
  • ddrobbddrobb Member Posts: 2
Kansas City dealers seem to be more aggressive than St. Louis, however when you say $2000 under invoice they act as if you are on drugs. Then they said the $1000 back to the dealer would void the special financing.

Same here in Memphis. What do you all think is the best thing to do? Do we play the waiting game. I think it is all about supply and demand. Honestly who is trying to buy a car without reading this message board?
  • josheeljosheel Member Posts: 73
What color are you all looking for? I wanted aspen white pearl and now they're in short supply.

    Hi,

I got quoted for $32,500 for the base 2006 MDX model for any color combo in NJ area. Is this a good deal or it could get better?

I would like to know thoughts asap as I have to decide by Saturday because deal is till month end. Prompt response would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

Looking to purchase the MDX with Touring+nav+RES as well. Hoping to get the price down to 36,000. Let me know if they will go lower for multiple purchases.
  • silverwilsonsilverwilson Member Posts: 6
Yeah I found the same thing, I did find a dealer in Illinois that gave me a quote of 38327 if you take the $1000 back, if not then it is 39327.

Best price I got in KC was 40792. Not to very impressive.
  • silverwilsonsilverwilson Member Posts: 6
I think I am going to wait, I hate to do that but I think the deals around here have to get better. With gas prices doing what they are doing and the new model, I am hoping that they get desperate. I don't know if that is just wishful thinking tho.
  • silverwilsonsilverwilson Member Posts: 6
Great, we are also looking for aspen white. I didn't know that they were in short supply.
  • josheeljosheel Member Posts: 73
I'm starting to think the same way. It's really sad the way the dealers have be acting.I've even been told edmunds research price do not mean anything and no dealers use them. This was a dealer recommend by edmunds as a premier dealer. What a joke.
  • silverwilsonsilverwilson Member Posts: 6
I used edmunds to try and get price quotes and after trading emails got this response from one dealer:

The internet is a great place to gather information, but the price wars on the internet require the desire to use "old school used-car" deception tools.

Not even sure what that means and he never gave me a quote, which I thought the whole purpose of the get quote feature of edmunds was for.
  • josheeljosheel Member Posts: 73
    U lost me.
  • silverwilsonsilverwilson Member Posts: 6
I used the get price quote from dealers on edmunds and one dealer never gave me a price quote. After trading emails with this dealer and trying to get a number from them, they stated:

The internet is a great place to gather information, but the price wars on the internet require the desire to use "old school used-car" deception tools. As an example, if you can get a touring/navi/res for 38,600 - I will get in line right behind you and take a dozen in assorted colors. It is a lie.

Not sure if that makes anymore sense.
  • josheeljosheel Member Posts: 73
Yes it does heard the same crap
  • josheeljosheel Member Posts: 73
To bad edmunds doesn't check into some of these jerks before listing them as dealers to check out.Just once I'd like to find one dealer that agrees with edmund prices.

I'm looking to get Touring w/Navi in my area for $36,500. I know of a dealer giving a price of $2,500 below dealer invoice on a regular Touring, but is only willing to go $1,500 below dealer invoice (making it $37,500) for the Touring w/Navi. If they're willing to knock $2.5k off the lower priced vehicle, why shouldn't I be able to get the same amount off the Navi equipped vehicle? This would put me in the ballpark of $36,500 if they were to do so. I have heard of a few other people on this forum getting a $36,500 price for the Touring/Navi model.

Let me know if anyone has been quoted a price of around $36,500 for the Navi model in my area (DC/VA/MD).
  • jd2010jd2010 Member Posts: 3
    Hello,

Seems like a good price. I have visited few dealers in north NJ and the lowest quote was $33K. One dealer agreed at $32.8K but did not have my color comibation (Black with saddle interior)

What is out the door price? Which county are you in?

"As an example, if you can get a touring/navi/res for 38,600 - I will get in line right behind you and take a dozen in assorted colors. It is a lie."

What a joke, I bought a touring/navi/res 2 months ago for $38.2, and got about 5 quotes below $38.6. What scum.

miked - I'm just starting to look for a Touring w/ Navi in DC. Any chance you could let me know where you have found the best prices and dealers to work with? Much appreciated.
  • miked3470miked3470 Member Posts: 25
Best prices (so far) ... Chevy Chase Acura at $37,499 (includes free oil changes and tire rotations for 7 years). Also, Criswell Acura (Annapolis) came in at $37,199 (they're a bit further away from where we live). MD only charges around $100 for processing whereas VA hammers you for $299 (just keep this in mind when shopping for best prices). Pohanka (Chantilly, VA) came in at $37,592 (plus the higher processing fees and a VA business use tax added on). Rosenthal (Gaithersburg, MD) came in at $38,600 ... qauite an insulting price, compared to the others.

Have narrowed to Pilot and MDX I think. I am leaning toward MDX as I have owend 2 other Acuras and they were awesome cars. We have only two Acura dealers here in Sacramento but their websites would indciate they each have 30-40 MDX's. Seems like a lot of inventory. With new model next year, gas prices, etc... how much below invoice should I be looking to spend?
  • miked3470miked3470 Member Posts: 25
Yesterday we purchased a 2006 MDX with Navigation and RES (rear entertainment system). We paid a total of $37,000 plus taxes and tags (this price included destination). We weren't looking for RES as an option (we originally just wanted Navi), but the pricing was as though they were throwing it in at no charge.

The deals are out there. We went back and forth with many dealers in our area. I had gotten other dealers down to $37,000 for the Touring/Navi only version, but then the deal we went with gave us this same price plus added the DVD system.

The MSRP on the window was $44,815.

the pricing was from open road acura in new brunswick, nj...but these prices are all over tha place less than $32.5K for the base model in NJ/PA area...

I would HIGHLY recommend the Internet Sales personnel Acura of Pleasanton, Calif.!

Apr. 29th, I went to Acura of Pleasanton. Not only did I get a 2006 MDX (Aspen White) with Navigation and other options for $250 LESS than any other Bay Area dealership's best offer, they also gave me Acura’s 3.9%/48mo. financing. In addition, they will deliver the car from the dealership to my home (45 mins.) after the optional accessories are installed!

    Acura MDX Touring w/Navigation: $38,092.00
    Options: $2,108.96
    · Trailer Hitch
    · Trailer Ball
    · Trailer Hitch Harness
    · Power Steering Fluid Cooler
    · AFT Cooler
    · iPod Set up
    · Separation Net
    · Cargo Cover
    · Body Side Molding
    · Wheel Locks

All Tax, Lic., Fees, Prep., Delivery, etc.: $3,699.04
    Out-the-door: $43,900.00

At AutoWest Acura of Stevens Creek, in Santa Clara, CA, I was told that my wife and I could not borrow a car for an extended test drive. "Against company policy,” they said. But, if I came in later in the evening, a salesman would go with us. Fine with me. So, I drove 35 minutes across town only to find that he was on a sale and not available. A phone call to reschedule would have been polite.

However, another salesperson noticed what was happening and handed me a "Borrowed Car" form. "Just take the car and I'll see you back here in an hour,” he said. What happened to the "No Borrowing" policy? Oh well, off we went.

Later in the week, at that same dealership, I was lied to, again. I was promised a price for an MDX with Acura's 3.9%/48mo. financing. The salesman said, “On my word, this deal will happen” - approved by a sales manager. However, nothing was in writing - “Against company policy until you are ready to work up a contract." Then, the old switcheroo. When I arrived to work out a price (with money in my pocket), the “sales manager of the day” said that the other manager was not "in" today, so it didn't mater what had been said - that deal was not available with Acura’s incentive financing. This guy had a rude attitude, too!

All I got at AutoWest Acura of Stevens Creek was Lies, Lies and more Lies.

So, I went to another dealership. Your best negotiating can be done with your own two feet.

I went to Acura of Pleasanton and dealt with the Internet Sales manager. Not only did I get the exact car (2006 Acura MDX, Aspen White, w/Navigation plus options) for $250 LESS than any other Bay Area dealer’s best offer, but also got the 3.9% financing and they will deliver the car from Pleasanton to San Jose after the accessories are installed!

Apparently, a good deal and incentive financing is available. You just have to find a dealership where they treat you like an intelligent human being.

I would highly recommend buying a new car from the Internet Sales manager at Acura of Pleasanton. Make your own decision whether you want to try AutoWest Acura of Stevens Creek.

Darn it. They won't match the $37k. We took an hour+ of the guy's time, was very nice, and then when we picked the color (the light blue) I laid out my bottom line price of $37k + tax/lic. The sales guy presented it to the grand pooba but he wouldn't agree. This was in Sacramento. They went to $39,500 on the MDX with MSRP of $44,815. They claim you must be stretching the truth to say you paid $37k. Any thoughts? You have a trade-in? Anything you can think? Like I said, they let me walk out.
  • larryallen707larryallen707 Member Posts: 174
Other dealer in Sac went to $38,750 for same car with $44,815 MSRP. Extra half hour but worth it for $750. Think I will try a more extensive email campaign tomorrow.
  • larryallen707larryallen707 Member Posts: 174
SRJ1- Did you buy for $37,750? Or did you do better? If you got for less which Bay Area dealer was it? I got Elk Grove to $37,750 on the phone.
  • miked3470miked3470 Member Posts: 25
No, I am not stretching the truth here. I sold my other car privately, so there was no trade here ... just a straight purchase of the MDX. Believe me, they were the only dealer in my area willing to do this deal (although others did have fairly decent deals on Touring w Navi only). I've got the paperwork to prove it. $37k for the Touring/navi/res + MD sales tax, VA processing fee and fees for new tags (2 year registration). That's it ... zippy "stretching the truth."

Hang in there, I believe the deals will only get better as the next few months go by. Some day, they'll be deals that will make my deal seem just so so.
  • larryallen707larryallen707 Member Posts: 174
I am down to $38,342 but about an hour drive. You did good to get $37k!
  • larryallen707larryallen707 Member Posts: 174
Any change in incentives for May? I want to buy today since we couldn't quite do it last night.
  • ms1211ms1211 Member Posts: 11
I am wondering the same thing. The $1000 rebate is for until today. I am thinking incentives should only increase with the time getting nearer for 2007 model.

It seems last year rebate went to $1500 and also that could be combined with special APR (unlike current incentive of either/or).

Let me know guys. Should I buy today or wait for another few days or a month?

    Thanks
    Chuck

We signed a 3-year 15,000 miles/year lease for an Acura MDX premium (base model) with a roof rack, mud flaps and pinstripe this weekend to take advantage of the April lease special. The information from this forum was very helpful; so, we are posting our information to help others:

    purchase price $34,393
    + destination fee $595
    total cap cost $34,988

    $469.87/month ($443.27 + $26.60 tax)
    $872.87 at signing (1st month + $349 dealer admin fee + $54 registration)

15,000 miles per year and 20¢ per mile over (the dealer would not agree to 15¢)

    57% residual = $21,511.80

We ended our previous MDX lease early. We are way over miles. We will have to pay Acura for the last payment and the excess mileage (at 15¢/mile per previous lease). We were not able to negotiate our way out of these contractual obligations.

Some dealers quoted us a $33,075 purchase price, but we were unable to get any of them to give us that price on a lease. They contend that that price includes $1000 cash back to the dealer on purchases only and that Acura would not make this payment on leases because of the 2.99 promotional lease rate – you can’t get both.

Does anybody know how we can negotiate out of the excess miles we will have at the end of this 3-year lease? Thanks for all the help and good luck in your dealings.

I am still amazed at Miked's deal. I have bought a lot of cars and consider myself a decent negotiator but I have found it difficult to get them to $38k let alone $37k. I am at the point of why dealer against another a hundred here or there but nothing substantial. Good job Miked.

Finally got 06 MDX Touring + Navi for $38100 + $210 Doc fee and +8.375% Tax in NYC.
Anyone who is getting 4.9% interest rate, do you have join Acura Care program to get this rate? Their financial consultant tried to get me into this program for extra $2k for my 4.9% rate, but I talked down to add Grill Guard with $995 for my 4.9% rate. Just wondering..

Willie374 ... I sent you an email stating the dealer that we purchased if from. Just got home now from taking the kids out to get ice cream (their first ride in the new car). They were pscyched watching a movie with the wireless headsets (not quite the same experience when I was a kid sitting in the back of a Pontiac Catalina, sans seat belts!

Ended up buying in Sacramento (Niello) for $38,500 which included destination. I got 4.99% for 48 months as the dealer had some relationship with our credit union. I am not sure on the finance details but it seemed like a fair rate to me. The MSRP was $44,815 on this model so I felt the price was fair. Not as good as those prices out in DC that Miked and someone else mentioned though. Our MDX has navi and rear entertainment system. I LOVE that navi! It's steel blue with quartz leather. No trade-in or anything so was a clean deal. Car has 35 miles on it. Brand new! Pleasanton Acura (Bay Area) had same color combo for $750 less but had over 200 miles on it and would have to drive to Pleasanton to make the deal (about 75 miles each way) AND they wouldn't put on the extras for us before we arrived. Niello installed rear spoiler, side step, etc... before we came in to pay so we could drive it home. I should add that I showed the salesman the retail prices for the add-ons we wanted at the Niello service dept (prices on their website). I explained I was happy for him to charge me a few extra dollars on each item so that it would be part of warranty and for simplicity but I was not going to pay sales dept price which was so high. The service department prices are SUBSTANTIALLY less than the sales department price so check service and negotiate like that or just buy from the service department. Yes, the installed price from service dept is much less than the sales dept. I didn't believe it until I looked into it. The retail price on the rear spoiler from sales was $700 or $800 and from service was $375 installed. I paid $400. We also added chrome rims. They were asking $2,000 and we paid $1,400. I figure their cost at about $600 on the rims but I couldn't find a local place to do it until the wheel exchange places where they mail you chrome mdx rims and then you mail your mdx rims to them to sell to the next guy. That would have cost about $200/wheel so $800 for the set. I was happy to pay $1,400 for convienience and my wife REALLY liked the chrome rims! Anyway, Niello treated us well and I would recommend them to anyone in the Sac area. Our salesman was very professional. Good luck to all of you! :)

Let me get this straight...you have ALREADY signed a lease, and now you want to negotiate? Isn't that backwards?

My best advice at this point is to keep it under your 45,000 mile limit written into the lease; I believe it is American Honda policy of $0.20 per mile on vehicles over $30,000 MSPR, $0.15 per mile on vehicles under $30k. Non-negotiable.
