I am in the market for 2006 MDX(touring, RES with Navi). Can anyone provide guidance on the price I should pay. Also I will appreciate if you send along info about the dealers as well.

    $37,000 - $37,750 but I wouldn't pay any more than that. I know I won't be. :P

Just leased an MDX Touring w/navi from Davis Acura in PA. Let me tell you they were great to deal with. I was dealing with Sussman Acura, but they are AWFULL!!!! We worked on a deal for 2 weeks only for them to come back at last minute after the deal was agreed on for them to say they wouldn't do it. I got practically the same deal from Davis in a matter of 30 minutes without all of the hassles. Their GM's at Sussman were just lousy. So anyone in PA or NJ area looking for an MDX I recomend Davis. If you want some numbers, 650 drive off including 1st month, 15K/year, 560/month including pa's 9% tax. I believe the residual and the money factor are the same (54% and .00122). If you want name of my salesman (great guy) let me know. The thing that was interesting is that, he also told me that their upcoming "RDX" allocation is dependent on their MDX sales this month. So everyone should be getting great deals.

Anyone know of any dealers that can get me a low price on an Acura MDX Touring? I've gone thru posts and all seem to be in TN, CA, NY, NJ, WA, VA... anyone know of any down this way towards the West Palm Beach area?? Dealers nearby don't seem to want to go below $38k, but I've seen posts for others around the nation who got it for $34k-$37k... I'm looking to lease, so that may determine if I get $1326 below invoice or $2326 below invoice since there's the dealer holdback of $1326 and dealer incentive of $1000 if financed and not leased (but I think that $1000 expired on May 31st anyways).

Since Invoice is $36,002 nowadays, then minus the $1326 holdback, that gives me a starting point of $34,676 if they don't make anything...

They offered me the MDX Base model for $34k ($37k sticker)leased with 2k down for 36 mos at $399/mo or $425/mo including tax.

But I want the Touring and they say it's 40k and they'd give it to me for 38k and that's what most posters here got the Touring WITH Nav/Res for...

I'm trying to ge my lease payments below $400/mo...

Anybody? I need a dealer in South Florida. :confuse:

I recently purchased 2006 MDX with Nav in New york. The price is
$39800- which is on-road price includes Tax, Reg fee, Doc fee, etc.
I'm going to pick up the car in 3 days. Is the price ok?

    Thanks,

we are looking to buy and mdx with nav and res ASAP in the washington DC metro area area, which dealers did you get the best prices from?

Hi, I am planning to purchase the 2006 Acura MDX Touring model (no DVD or Navi)... I recieved a quotation from Montgomeryville Acura in PA for $34,995 (including destination) and a Quote from Bridgewater Acura in NJ for $34,620 (exluding destination, tax and title cost). I know the PA price is cheaper, but is either of the quote good? Or they are too high?
  • evisionevision Member Posts: 6
Wow... that's a GREAT price for the Touring model. If it was the basic premium model it's average, but I'm getting a price of $36,917 here in FL for the Touring (no nav or dvd) and the invoice price of that is $36,617. so minus the $1325 dealer holdback and $1000 dealer incentive, that makes it $34,292. So basically they're only making like $328-703 off your deal. Not bad at all!
  • steve777steve777 Member Posts: 41
Looks good. The best price I've gotten so far is 35.5 in Northern NJ, but i havent really "hammered" anyone yet. My issue is going to be how much they want to give me for my 1999 Jeep.

Are you doing a trade? If so, was their price fair?
  • larryallen707larryallen707 Member Posts: 174
Wow... that's a GREAT price for the Touring model. Read the posts of the last 6-8 weeks and you will probably see this is not a very good deal and is certainly NOT a great deal. Maybe Evision is a Acura salesman? :)
  • evisionevision Member Posts: 6
LOLOL... NO, I'm not a salesman... i'm far from one. I've been researching the MDX for weeks now looking for a good deal to lease one myself...

I guess I was wrong in thinking $34k was a good deal on the Touring model considering the invoice is over $36k.

Apparently you dissagree with me... maybe you can tell me where to get a better deal so i can go get my MDX there... the best deal I've gotten so far is $36,917 + $525 bank fee with lease payments of $440+tax at 57% Residual and .00122 Money Factor with MSRP at $40,565 and $2200 due at signing for $599 dealer fee + tax, $188.50 tag and $935 Cap Cost buy down + tax...

No dealer will go lower here in South Florida. and that $440/mo deal was going through a friend who knows the dealer manager... but considering the MDX's are popular down here, the dealers wont dip into the holdback money and drop it below the $36,617 invoice price.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks $34k is not too shabby for a Touring.

Looking to buy a used MDX as I need a 7seater SUV. Have decided on the MDX after researching reliability of XC90 and Explorer (am a 4 Runner owner but need a change). Am willing to buy car with up to 70k miles which I hope to drive another 6-7 years. Any tips on what year/model MDX I should consider or avoid and what I can get away with paying? Are there dealers to go to and avoid in the Boston area? Also, is there a big difference between the Touring and regular model, and is "Acura Certified" that important? Finally, are there any used car concerns I should be aware of in general (recalls, typical repairs after extended miles, etc.) or specifically with regards to the Acura MDX? Thanks
  • larryallen707larryallen707 Member Posts: 174
Maybe I am confusing the deals you are talking about. In short, the closer we get to the new model the less you should pay. At MOST you should pay invoice MINUS $1,000 (Acura dealer incentive) MINUS holdback (about $1,300). Good luck.
  • holycoupeholycoupe Member Posts: 11
Ok, after reading your insights from the previous posts, I am getting some ideas on getting new MDX w/touring/NAV. The invoice on this model is $38,477 and after subtracting incentive and holdback price, it becomes $36,151. So, do I start negotiating from this price? I am a bit confused from here on...
  • larryallen707larryallen707 Member Posts: 174
Yes/no. If your numbers are right you don't "start" at $36,151. You say, "I will pay $36,200... would you like to sell me a car?" If not, try another dealer. You might try fax/email.

    Hi All,

To all members who posted on this board and whose replies helped me make my puchase; just wanted to pass on my deal information.

Purchased a 2006 Acura MDX w/touring on 06/09/06 in the DFW area (Dallas). Paid $35119 + TTL $2463. Got the dealer to throw in (All Season Mats, Cargo Tray and Wheel Locks) MSRP $306 + Tax at the dealer, on the internet for $250 (S/H Incl).

So for people strictly looking at price you should be able to squeeze the dealer of another $250, $35119-$250 = $34869 + TTL.

The price of $35119 was offered by three out of the four dealers in the DFW metroplex.

No Factory installed, No dealer installed options, No Tint, No Lo-Jack, No Anti-theft, No Etching, No dealer Prep Fees installed in the car and none were in the quote or price paid for the car.

    They also priced a Acura MDX w/Touring w/NAV for $37611 +
TTL though I did not go for it thought $2500 for GPS/Camera was a bit too steep than a aftermarket top of the line portable one.

    MDX w/Touring Pricing
MSRP 40565 (Incl Dest) Invoice 36617 (Incl Dest) Hold back 3% 1216 Cash Incentive $1000.

    Dealer has 1216 + 1000 = 2216 to work with under invoice. He gave me 1500 below invoice so made 716 - 250 Accessories = 466 Profit = 1.27% on the Invoice.

Hope it helps others. Good Luck to all.
  • evisionevision Member Posts: 6
You're right. You SHOULD pay invoice MINUS $1000 incentive MINUS $1325 holdback, however, I'm leasing and the $1000 incentive is not able to be combined with the lease option... only if financed for a purchase.

However, in South Florida, no dealer is giving me any deals below invoice due to the high demand on the MDX's. Stinks, but true considering a friend's "hook-up" at a dealer wouldn't go below invoice for his friend either. And the word is here in SoFla that the 2007's are coming out in late October to early November and all the 2006's will be way gone by then and Acura won't be making them anymore as of next month. For Labor Day in September there will be sales most likely selling all MDX models at invoice prices... but again, here in SoFla, no dealer is going below invoice since they know they will have no problem getting rid of them at invoice before the 07's are out. And the 07's will be STARTING at $40k MSRP with no deals at first again becuz of the high demand here.

I see that lots of other folks around the country are getting the Touring for closer to $34k and $35k when I got a $36,593 quote... but my quote is for a lease. For a purchase they'd probably go to $35,593 with that dealer incentive taken off.

If anyone knows any dealer in SoFla that will LEASE the Touring for less than $36,593 at 57% residual with a .00122 Money Factor for 36mo/10k miles, with $2200 due at signing, making payments at $449 plus tax... LET ME KNOW so I can go there instead! :)
  • holycoupeholycoupe Member Posts: 11
You live in a big city compare to where I live :) I live in Bloomington IN... and there is no ACURA around here and only two dealers exist in this state... I am sure the demand level here is much lower than SoFlo.. And I checked they have 12 MDXs (including other optioned models) in the lot. Maybe harder for me to negotiate for a better deal, but again not many are willing to afford luxury level SUV in the state of IN compare to populated city. I really want touring/Nav around low $37k, but dealer here is offering around $38k anybody has a good recommendation? (I also tried dealers in OH, and gave me the same answer.)
  • sean21sean21 Member Posts: 3
The $34,995 quoted to me included the destination charge. The invoice price of the Touring model (according to Edmunds) is $36,617 (including destination charge of $615). If we take off the $1000 dealer incentive and $1098 for holback (3% right?)from the invoice price, the total is $34,519. The difference is about $417. Is my calculation correct? And would the dealer budge for that amount?
    Thanks...
  • larryallen707larryallen707 Member Posts: 174
considering a friend's "hook-up" at a dealer wouldn't go below invoice for his friend either.

I don't know about leasing but I do know that a friend at a dealer NEVER HELPS YOU. I have many clients who are THE owners of car dealers. I also have friends (guys I can call to grab a beer) who are owners, sales managers, sales guys, etc... and you are better off buying from a dealer where you don't know anybody if you want the best price. It is easier to buy from a hook-up as much less hassle and haggling but not as good of a deal. Main reason is you don't want to insult a hook-up with a really low offer or one where they "lose" money. Inpersonal phone/internet/fax works best. I have bought a lot of new cars.

    Hello,

I am wondering what are the main differences between MDX and its poorer brother Pilot. Of course other than the name itself, I see some differences like the leather quality. However, is it worth it to pay 6-7K more to buy an MDX touring over a Pilot EX-L? Am I missing something?

    Your answers are really appreciated.

    Thank you,
    CarLover.

Man, I'm just gonna stop posting stuff here

I am very sorry. Seriously I did NOT mean to offend you at all. I didn't think I said anything too personal toward you but it certainly wasn't the intent. I was really giving my personal opinion to others out there. I have bought a substantial (too many) number of new cars in the 22 years since I turned 16 so have a lot of experience. I am just trying to share to help people as I enjoy helping. In a car like the MDX I found that prices people, including myself, were paying were substantially below MSRP and I want people to know that. Plus, I think it needs to be repeated a lot as I know I didn't totally believe the prices people were paying as the first dealer I talked to let me walk. Oh ya, I enjoy being a smart alic too but in this instance I was not trying to be negative toward you at all. My previous salesmen comment/post was meant to be sort of a joke toward you but just a joke. Please don't take offense. Really, I am sorry you took offense. :)

Got my MDX at Metro Acura in Philly

    Touring w/Nav and Ipod

    -MSRP 42,600 + 289 for Ipod
    -Sale Price 38,600+289
-Add $700 for my trade in (dealer bought for 7600, i owed 8300)
    -Add tax, tags, etc
    -No money down
    -.00122 Money Factor

    Monthly Payment: $583

Looks like they gave me about the price that you'd get with a standard lease calculator. I suppose I might have been able to get a little better of a deal, but for a $43,000 car with $0 down and negative equity on my trade-in, i'm ok with it. Love the car BTW.

So my 2003 MDX with navigation now has 49,700 miles, a couple dings here and there, but CLEAN mats, clean carpet, glossy paint, and still a good amount of tread left on the tires.

Long story short, after shopping two dealerships, one only wants to give me $19,700 and the other $20,000 for my car.

Now, I realize I have slightly above average miles (15,000 a year,) but considering the condition it's in, I'm slightly appalled. I paid $41,000 (sticker at the time for my car) and now it's worth less than 50% of it's value after a little more than 3 years of ownership. I thought this was why I didn't buy another Chrysler!

I wanted to get into a new MDX, which I was quoted $37,800 on for the same model I have now, but with the low-ball trade amounts they wouldn't budge on, I really don't know. I'm not thinking 17-$18K for OnStar, Bluetooth, XM, and more airbags are exactly worth it. If I'm gonna be forking over that kind of dough, I might as well wait for the 2007 MDX and feel like I'm really getting something new for my extra money.

Should I try more dealerships or do you think I won't do much better on my trade given the current market?

I guess $18K for a MDX is still better than the $41K I paid 3.5 years ago for, but now I'm torn.

P.S. I'm in the Chicago suburbs

for a 2006 Acura MDX with Touring/Navigation and Towing; quoted price was $39,889 (and that is after netting out the $1,000 rebate). Based on other posts I have read, this price appears to be high.

Are there others here in Southwest Virginia/Western North Carolina/Upper East Tennessee? If so what has been your buying experience for a 2006 MDX?

Thanks in advance for any comments and/or suggestions!

Thanks to everyone on the forum. I went to a dealership in northern NJ yesterday and used sluri's deal to get a good one myself. Lease '06 MDX Touring with Navi, 12K/36mo, no money down except NJ's inception fees, 520 per month including NJ's 6% tax. Came to an agreement at 38,500. Went below invoice b/c of the 1326 holdback. 1000 rebate not applicable to lease. Very pleasant to deal with. Test drive plus negotiation took about an hour total. Thanks all.

    Hello everyone,

I am getting quote $32,261 plus any dealer adds that are on the vehicle for MDX base model from Vandergriff Acura in Arlington, TX. This is about $2000 below invoice. Is this a good price given the fact that gas price keeps increasing and 07 MDX model is coming in 4 months? It's better to wait for the 07 model? Any suggestion is appriciated.

Had a price of $37,700 for NAV&RES last month, now the Internet guy there wants $38,110. I laughed at him, I'll stay localish and pay $38,495 instead. I hope these people like the taste of the MDXs they still have on their lots come September.

I'm also being told that I can get the $1000 FTD incentive AND 4.9% X 60 months.
  • acurafolloweracurafollower Member Posts: 2
Cant comment on your Gas Price question, I guess that is a personal decision.

07 Model will sell at a premium basic supply and demand issue.

I purchased a MDX/Touring about 2 weeks ago, was going to Vandergriff but went with Mac Churchill. Both offered me $1500 below invoice, got Mac churchill to throw in some accessories and came to roughly $1800 below invoice.

So if you are getting $1800 below as of todays date with all incentives and information know today the answer is, YES it is a good deal. Change in any variable tommorow can change the answer.

Be carefull of the dealer Add ons $190 for window tinting (only 2 windows) etc, I got mine with no dealer installed options or accessories. You are much better off in the open market as to pricing.

I too shopped Flow motors exactly a year ago for a new 2005 model. Message 2258 I found their prices to be high in comparison to other posts on the site. I also shopped Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Cary and ended up in Fayetteville. I got many songs and dances from dealers trying to tell me that other markets were repressed or some other excuse for the lower price quotes. Basically, I figured it was worth it to drive/fly to Maryland or New York to get it for the price I wanted and had been quoted. That was when I found Fayetteville's Accura dealership (Leith's Clearance Center).

Just got an MDX touring for 36m/10k lease in TX. I think I got a pretty good deal, please comment. My monthly payments including all taxes, license and fees are $480. And, I paid out of the door ONLY the first month's lease figure, $480 that is. No other money down. Selling price was negotiated down to $35,100 and MF was 0.0122. Dealer threw in tinted windows for free as well. Good deal?

Hello! There are more than two Acura dealers in Indiana. There are two in Indianapolis and others in Ft. Wayne ect. Chicago has 6 dealers in the metro area and best price thus far has been 1700 below invoice. I am still early in my negotitions and I see quite a few MDX's where I live (Carmel, In).
  • holycoupeholycoupe Member Posts: 11
Hi! You mean Ed Martin and Hubler at Indy right? I tried Hubler and they wouldn't wanna sell me not even under $1,000 invoice and the sales manager was LYING that they were not getting any "INCENTIVES".(just touring package with iPod link, $36,600 is outrageous! what am I not negotiating well?) Where did you try to get $1700 under invoice? Thanks!
  • mevandemevande Member Posts: 190
They (dealers) will always lowball your trade and in your case it the relatively high miles. I would get rid of the dings (not expensive and you do not need a body shop) and sell it yourself. I will give you 20800.00 for the car, assuming everything is in great condition. Does it have the 3rd row seating and DVD?
Kbb.com indicated a dealer trade for your SUV is $19,760 (right from their web page picking good condition w/ the miles you stated), hence the $$'s he is offering seem accurate. A dealer will never pay for excellent' condition for your car would have to be PERFECT, ie no dings ect. I have a 1999 BMW 740i with 65K miles and it looks showroom new).

Best of luck re: your decision.
  • mevandemevande Member Posts: 190
Yes re: Hubler and Ed Martin in Indy. Hubler does not deal and is a low volume dealer. I am talking w/ dealers in the Chicagoland area. Go to the Acura web site and go to the 'find a dealer' are and there is much more compeition in Chicago and hence better deals.

Is anyone getting this deal? I think its nearly impossible for a dealer to say "you've got a deal" to this offer. I mean where is the incentive for the dealer to take the deal or even spend the time in negotiation. Good luck is right.
  • larryallen707larryallen707 Member Posts: 174
Just because you are not a good negotiator please don't discourage others from trying. As you can see there are several people on here who got better deals than I did.
  • bigspofbigspof Member Posts: 1
I would try more dealerships. I have an 03 base with 39k miles and similar to you pd sticker of 36.5k in 2003. Dealer offered me 18k for a trade and 33,500 for a new base last week. I said it wasn't worth it and after a week of haggling with them, they met what I wanted - 33,500 and got 23.5k for my car so i felt it was worth it for 10k. Its in perfect shape other that 2 small scratches and they tried to use the "fair" value on kelly blue book to vaule it due to the scratches.

I haven't had that experience yet, but I'm sure I'm about to since I will start my negotiations with the various Acura dealers in RI, CT and MA this week. I want the MDX Touring with Nav and RES and I will pay invoice ($39,827) -dealer incentive ($1000) - holdback ($1,194) = $37,633.
I'm sure "Joe" and some of the other "Joes" will mule and pull an attitude, but I don't care because my response will be as follows:
    1. There are 15 Acura dealers within a 100 mile radius of me. 2. Every one of them has a ton of MDXs in inventory that they haven't been able to move and they're paying interest on every month. 3. Gas prices are high and are going even higher for the summer. Sales of SUVs are way off. 4. No one buys cars in July when everyone around New England is on vacation. 5. The amount of MDXs they sell is directly related to the allotment of RDXs they will receive from Acura. 6. The 2006 MDX will be obsolete and worthless when the new generation comes out in October. 7. We are at the end of the month and the end of the quarter so you can get your "point" towards your month's numbers for Honda. (Each vehicle is worth a point. If the dealer meets or exceeds his point quota from Honda he gets a month end bonus)
If "Joe" tells me he doesn't work for free, my reply will be "you are on this deal because right now it's a buyer's market."
Of course I have the luxury of paying hard ball because I am surrounded by 15 dealers.

Hi, I am looking to find the best pricing on a 2006 Acura MDX Touring with Nav.

Could you let me know the best pricing to expect or where to start in negotiating on this? It seems that the pricing I have seen so far is $4k off MSRP + $1000 over invoice.

What is the best pricing I should shoot for with a $3k trade in?

Your help is GREATLY appreciated ... I would like to buy one in the next 7-10 days.

    Thanks!

I am looking to find a great price on a 2006 Acura MDX Touring. The MSRP on this SUV is $39,950.

I have been to both of the Cincinnati dealerships (Superior and Columbia), and they are telling me they cannot even sell it to me AT invoice ... both are about $600 over invoice.

What do I need to do or say to get a good deal or negotiate with them? I see others on this forum that are getting wonderful deals.

    I would like to lease this car - 36 months / 12K miles/year.

Any help is appreciated. I would like to buy one this week.

    THANK YOU!

I am looking to buy a mdx in nj/pa next week.
    - nighthawk black with ebony interior
    - base model

How do i go about doing a internet only purchase. Dont have the patience to go various dealers to haggle.

I see that there is a 2.9% apr deal going on. I was wondering if 32.5k is a decent offer for the above model ?

Also anyone tried the costco car purchase program ?

Is it good idea to wait couple of more months to get a better deal ?
  • needmdx2006needmdx2006 Member Posts: 10
The $1,000 dealer incentive last until 7/5/06. I'm hoping that this will increase in July. I've heard that the best time to buy a vehicle is July - October when dealerships are trying to clear their lots for new models. I think I'll pull the trigger next month on an Sage Brush Pearl MDX/NAVI.
  • steve777steve777 Member Posts: 41
When do you think is a better time to buy an MDX? In June (this week)when they're trying to make their quarter or in July when less people are shopping for cars
  • sl1288sl1288 Member Posts: 58
I went to First Acura in Seekonk, MA today and worked with a salesman I know on prices for the MDX Touring w/ Nav and the MDX Touring w/ Nav & RES. They have over 50 MDXs on the lot and they want to move them.
The final numbers were $38, 248 for the Touring w/ Nav & RES, and $36,938 for the Touring w/ Nav. These prices include destination. There wasn't any back and forth because I had my numbers and their numbers and they knew I had both.
I'm still trying to figure out how "freq" got a quote for $37,700 for the Nav & RES.
