If a dealer is close to making their numbers you'll probably get better a better deal this month. I'm in the same boat with you. I can buy this month, but I think I'll do better next month. The longer you wait the better the deals will get.
Paid $38,815 (plus taxes) with NAV and RES in New York City. Includes destination. They factored in their dfealer incentive and I can get 2.9% for 3 yrs or 4.9 for 5yrs. Picking up my silver/ebony baby Thursday Night!
The final numbers were $38, 248 for the Touring w/ Nav & RES, and $36,938 for the Touring w/ Nav. These prices include destination. There wasn't any back and forth because I had my numbers and their numbers and they knew I had both.
I'm at $38,495 and the drive from PA to MA would kill that deal for me. Nice numbers though. :shades:
I wish I could help you, but all the numbers I received were for the Touring w/ Nav and the Touring w/ Nav & RES. Always remember to negotiate a lease deal after you have negotiated your bottom price on the car. I let the salesman think I am going to buy it for cash, and once we reach a final price, then I begin talking about a lease. You can go into the lease section of the Acura Forum for more help.
No need for personal attack. It isn't a function of being a "good negotiator". As someone that is usually across the table from the good negotiator, it is often hard to justify taking a loser deal in order to sell unit. Inventories are just not to the point where profit should be thrown out in order to clear the lot. The best negotiators are professionals who understand that profit is not a dirty word and that my time has a value too. As the ISM at an Acura dealer for the last 5 years, I receive offers like yours a few times a week. I find it much easier to decline and let another dealer spend the time losing profit. My best client relationships are never chiselers.
Rob, Profit isn't a dirty word BUT consumers didn't start this game, the industry did. So, until the industry cleans itself up, I have no problem negotiating any way I want. I can't speak for Larry, but I would assume he feels the same way.
I am looking to get a 2006 TOURING in the next couple days. Anyone else in the Philadelphia or Jersey area looking for a MDX & maybe we can team up & see if we can strike a better deal. I have got $35K for a touring with no nav or res. Let me know if anyone else is interested in teaming up.
I can understand your point. I am not proud of many aspects of my profession's past and because of that I am a huge fan of the one price approach that would eliminate horse trading and focus on the performance and service level of the dealer rather than the game. Edmunds is a great resource and I use it quite a bit to find out what the grass roots buyers are saying and what markets are bearing out on pricing. My point is that not all dealers are the same and it saves a ton of time on both sides if deals are struck that satisfy both party's need for gain to some extent.
I am going to get an MDX Touring with Nav in the next 1-2 days. Just wondered about pricing or deals that others have gotten or if we could also 'team up' on getting a deal!
Let me know. I have so far heard $1000 above invoice ($1000 + 38477+ 615 del = 49092) ... of course, many of the models on the lots also have other options that will increase the invoice cost (spoiler, NW package, etc).
Any one recently purchased MDX with DVD & Navi?. I looking to buy in couple of days. I am not able to find good quote from local dealers (Raleigh). Any experience sharing greatly appericiated. Thanks
Does anyone know if sales made over the July 4th holiday weekend count toward June or July sales numbers? Any opinions on whether it would be better to buy over the holiday weekend or wait until the end of July?
We are also interested in MDX Touring with Nav. I am negotiating with few dealers in tri state, from NY to MD.
I live near to philly and ready for purchase anytime, if deal is good. Else will go for Pathfinder or Pilot.
The best I got so far is 37,698 with low price guarantee by Piazza Acura of Ardmore. I guess if we get few mdx out of their lot, we (including dealers) can benefit by it.

Everybody is different. I am actually not a total "chiseler." In fact, if you read my posts I paid about $700 more so as not drive a couple hours to get my car. Plus, I don't waste time (nor the seller's time) and I don't nickle/dime at the end of the deal which would be easy to do. I determine what I figure is fair and find someone to sell me the car for that price. If they don't want to that's their business. I have bought many new cars by fax/email/phone. It's really easy. I am an attorney and many of my very wealthiest clients are car dealers so I have no tears for them making a "profit" on any particular car. There are enough dopes willing to pay MSRP and above so the dealerships are doing fine. Even at "cost" the dealer still finds a way to make money on just about every deal. "Invoice" is just a made up fiction in my opinion. Regardless, a car, a home and other big ticket items are worth doing some research on and some negotiating. I realize it may offend some car dealers when they hear my low offers which is why I don't buy from people I know. I consistenly get better deals from random car dealers that a dealer I know. No rhyme nor reason. People say, "don't buy at the big auto mall you can't get a deal there..." or "don't buy in that certain city...." Whatever. Doesn't matter what time of the month, year, where they are located, etc.... I could write a book on this subject. Figure out the price you want to pay and find someone to sell to you. CLEARLY if you want an MDX with navi and res you should pay about $38k. You can negotiate that down a little if you want to chiesel but that's about what you should pay including destination. If you pay more you are GIVING AWAY money to a multi-millionaire car dealer owner. Let them add to their millions from some stump and not you! Good luck to all consumers!
I was planning to purchase an MDX by the end of July, but seeing how all the promotions expire on Jul 5, should I run to buy one now? Or hold on and see what happens? I guess I am asking if anyone knows of the July's promotion past 07/05?
I think that the incentives will stay the same or increase in July. I'm waiting until after the 5th to purchase. Also, the special 2.9% for 24 months & 4.9% for 60 months financing has been extended to July 31st.
That's a very good deal. I bought a MDX Base at Goodson Acura in Irvin, Texas last week for $32261 + $300 Roof Rack & $125 for Window Tin. Very nice SUV, my wife and I love it.
'06 Touring Navi & RES $38,495 + TTT. Clinton Acura in New Jersey. Total time at the dealership, 30 minutes TOPS. As easy a transaction as one can expect for a new car purchase w/ no trade involved. Small(ish) dealership, excellent experience. Two thumbs up.
Anyone buy an MDX last weekend? I tried negotiating over the phone but my salesman was a moron. I will try again this month, but with another salesman hopefully.
I just got an internet quote for an 2006 MDX Tour With NAV for 37,273 before destination. Is this a good deal? not sure as these local dealers have not really been willing to negotiate too much when I went in to 2 dealers over the weekend.
This quote is about $1k too high. You should be around $37K with destination. I purchased a touring last week for $35K with 3 free accessories. The Touring with Navi was quoted at $37K. I am in PA.
I just purchased the MDX Base Model yesterday (July 4 2006). The sale price was $32,000 which is about $1,500 below the invoice price. I also got 1 other offer for $31,900 + free tint for 2 windows but this dealer did not have the color I like. You can pretty much find this deal in any Acura dealer in Texas (I'm from Houston). I hope this helps.
The dealer charges $600 for chrome sidesteps. You can get after market for much cheaper than that. I have found 1 on eBay for $150 + $50 shipping. This could be an DIY item or you can pay about $50 to have someone installs it for you. It's not that hard to install the sidesteps.
Start with $37,000 for Touring with Navi. This amount includes Destination. If they are not willing to go lower, ask for couple of accessories (cargo tray, matts, wheel locks). Don't wait too long b/c your color selection will be limited. Good luck.
I am looking to buy a base MDX. Does anyone know if Acura has increased their cash incentive to the dealers? What would be a good quote for a base MDX?
I live in Charlotte and am just starting my search for an MDX. Plan on buying an 06 in October. To this end, would appreciate hearing success stories on "competitive" Acura dealers in NC, SC or GA. Also, any advantages/disadvantages of buying from an out-of-state dealer?
You should get a very good deal in October if any 2006 models are still available. If you are planning to buy the 2007 model you would be charting a new teritory. You may have to MSRP on 2007 models. If you are particular about colors and/or trim then waiting till OCT for a 2006 model may not be a good idea since you may not get what you really want.
I want to express my thanks to the members of this forum. This forum educated me and helped me get what I consider a very good deal. I paid $30,455.00 + TTL for Sagebrush Pearl base MDX. They also threw in wheel locks for free. I bought the SUV from Sunnyvale Acura (California) through their Internet manager. All the negotiation was done via emails.
I had a very pleasant experience in buying the SUV. The folks were nice and courteous and very helpful.
I did notice that MDXs are selling pretty fast in the bay area, California. One black/black and silver/black MDX was gone in one day from two different dealers while I was negotiating the price via the emails. The prices may drop further but you may not get the trim and/or color you want. So shop accordingly. Best of luck to all the prospective buyers out there!
We don't permit the exchange of individual salesperson information, as it tends to result in a flood of solicitation posts...
Please refer to the message printed in red on every page..
In any case, it has been my experience that good sales experiences flow down from good management.... If it is a good store, just about everyone will have a good experience, no matter the salesperson..
hi, did you get your vehicle?if so, could you please tell me how much did you pay for it and what model? which dealer did you go to? Thanks, I live in Seattle area also,
It appears that there is a $2500 marketing support for this month. Now I understand why the dealer who refused my price last week has been calling me all day today
Anyone got a good quote on a touring/nav MDX in NJ area?
I think "marketing support" and "dealer cash incentive" are the same animal, as they both imply cash from manufacturer to the dealer. It was $1000 last month, it is $2500 this month.

Do you know what the best deal is on a Touring (without Nav and without RES)? 36 month with 12K miles is what I am looking for.
THANKS!
That quote evaporated as the color and options I wanted evaporated.

$32625
Is this a good deal? Should I go for it? My dad recently bought a Acura RL ($1000 overpaid), but do you think I should go to the same dealer?
Hope this helps. Good luck.

I was thinking of going there too. But I hate the sales process. Is your salesman a good guy? I'd like to find someone I can trust. Who should I see?
