See my message 3372. I shopped various dealers in NC and finally found that Fayettville Acura (Leith Clearance Center)to be the most reasonable. I live in Raleigh and could not get dealers here to work with me on my educated terms.

Sorry for not responding sooner - I was very busy for a couple of days. Here are my quotes for MDX w/tour/navi in the New York / Northern NJ area with dealership names.
All prices include destination, exclude taxes/fees
    Acura of Clinton - $36,595
DCH Acura of Montcalair - $36,200
    Acura of Westchester - $36,000
Acura of Valley Stream - $35,800
    Curry Acura - $35,800
    Acura of Ramsey - $35,675

I should take a delivery of sage MDX with black interior on Monday. Will update how it went...
Anyone has an opinion on whether to get LowJack? they offer it for $650
  • kennyg8kennyg8 Member Posts: 225
Those are very good prices. I live in NY/LI and am also considering MDX w/ touring and nav. Did you also get a quote from Rallye Acura in Roslyn? Is color selections good at valley Stream?
  • vladc2000vladc2000 Member Posts: 43
    Rallye Acura: $37,097 no less...
I am not sure about the inventory, they all claimed to have the car I wanted in stock, but when I showed up at Ramsey, turned out I had to wait until Monday to get the right exterior color and settle for black interior instead of quartz. Normally I would go to the other dealers in NY, but considering how I am running out of time, it made no sense: I would gain a color and maybe a couple of hundred more on my trade-in, but will lose extra on tax increase.

I have a 2006 black/saddle touring MDX in the garage that I will be signing the papers for tomorrow.
negotiated price was 36000, with the rubber mats/wheel locks. I thought that this sounded good, and he convinced me that it was "under invoice." Am I paying too much? Is it too late to get the entertainment system included? I'm not sure what to expect tomorrow, either. Will there be extra charges and hidden fees? First time new car buyer. thanks! (central texas area)
  • vladc2000vladc2000 Member Posts: 43
With wheel locks and rubber mats the invoice on this car is probably around 36,300 - 38,400. Considering the $2500 marketing support to the dealer, you should be looking at 33,000 - 33,500 range. Of course, it depends on how many Acura dealers you have in the area...
  • kennyg8kennyg8 Member Posts: 225
Considering the recent torrential rains and floods in NJ and PA, I wonder if the dealers' stocks were flooded, which might affect the purchase price. The way I see it, looks like there are great deals in those states to be had. Perhaps I worry too much. How can you be absolutely sure that the car you are about to purchase wasn't flooded?

    NCMDX:

Read with interest your success @ Leith's Clearance Center in Fayetteville.
I'm retiring in Oct and have just started my search for an MDX Touring (Black/Saddle). So far, I've contacted Internet folks at Hendrick & Flow. Flow quoted $37,600 (includes dest.) on a Touring w/Nav. I've decided that I don't want to spend $2M+ on Nav so I wrote them back last night asking them for a quote on just a straight Touring. Told them I've seen prices ranging from $33.5-$35 on Edmunds.com and that I was looking to pay in the $34 range.
Do you have a contact name at Leith I could call or email?
I appreciate any contact info you could provide.
    Thx!

I am looking for MDX premium model. Are there any good dealers in Hartford area? I am willing to look upto 100 mile radius. Please provide dealer names and quotes you got. Thanks
  • vladc2000vladc2000 Member Posts: 43
Is Westchester too far from you? Both Acura of Westchester and Curry Acura were great. See my message #3505 for quotes. I had no problems at all getting these quotes from them.
  • prapra Member Posts: 3
The quote I have received so far is:
    Base: 32,000
    Touring: 34,100

Has anyone received a better price in Chicagloand?
  • plaulplaul Member Posts: 11
Wait a minute, Am I reading this correctly. The invoice price of the car is $34,074. Deducting the $2500 cash to dealer brings the price to $31,574. So you got the car for $1119 under invoice.

    Please confirm...

Good prices, - can you share what dealership you got them from

I am really suprise as well, does the car has lots of milage? Sunnyvale Bay area???
  • prapra Member Posts: 3
    Got it from multiple dealers:
    Libertyville Acura and Brookfield Acura

    Anyone else get better prices?
  • mdxbdl1mdxbdl1 Member Posts: 2
No, they are about 100 miles and I can handle that. So who are you going with and what is the final price? Are they throwing anything free? Thanks
  • vladc2000vladc2000 Member Posts: 43
I dealt with Internet sales managers at both places, their names are listed on Acura website, and I told each of them the lowest quote I got. Both were very straightforward and if the timing were better, I would surely go to either one of them. I actually went with Acura of Ramsey - simply because I did not have the time to go to Westchester, and wanted to make a deal while the NJ tax was still 6% (so I had to do it last Friday).

My final price was $35,675 + tax + fees for touring/navi and they throw in all season mats. By the way, Open Road Acura of Wayne offered $35,500 but I just did not have time to go over trade-in appraisal and driving between dealerships again.
  • phx1phx1 Member Posts: 8
I did pay $30,455. If you factor in the dealer holdback which is 3% off of MSRP you will see that it about breaks even.
Bay area CA has lots of dealers so may be the competition helped too.
  • phx1phx1 Member Posts: 8
The SUV is brand new. It had 6 miles on it when we took it for the test drive.
When I went in to buy the SUV, the Internet manager mentioned that they were selling their MDXs pretty quickly. May be they are clearing the lot for RDXs and eventually MDXs...

    To wrap up my end.....

I ended up with an MDX Premium (base).
    Sage with ebony interior.

I put out a total $1222.32 (1st month, DMV, bank fee)
and my payment is $452/month for 36 months, 10k mile (i don't drive that much).

I ended up using an independent leasing agent and THEY DELIVERED THE CAR RIGHT TO MY DOOR.

If this is good, let me know. If it is not - please don't let me know (ha ha). I am comfortable with it so I just did it.

Pulled the trigger on a 2006 MDX/NAVI. Sage Brush Pearl with quartz interior. Paid $36,200 (includes side body molding and cargo cover) Did everything over the internet, made the deal by phone. I love the new ride. Thanks to everybody here, this site really helps.

I was shopping for a MDX in June (before the $2500 incentives) and the best price I found was Pohanka at $37,500 for touring with nav, but no RES. Because of timing issues, I ended up not buying in June, but will probably buy in July. Would be interested in your research and would be willing to be part of your group if volume helps gets the price down.

Sorry - I can't provide you with any more specifics other than the dealership's name (Leith Clearance center in Fayetteville) per the rules. Stick to the knowledge you have gained on this website and you will do fine.

Despite their seemingly endless inventory, I have not been able to get a dealer in the NYC-area to go lower than around $37.6K for an '06 MDX Touring with DVD/Navi. Is this really as good as it gets?
  • mdx2bmdx2b Member Posts: 7
Hi everyone, new to this forum but already finding out very useful information. We went looking/calling around this past weekend for MDX Touring w/ Navi/dvd and got quotes for 41.2K, 41.7K drive out. One place had a demo with 6400 miles, side steps, 18 or 20 inch wheels and wanted 39K for it. Where are all the deals you guys are getting quoted? I didn't know of the $2500 incentive until reading this here today, so maybe we should start over again and really haggle? Also, since the 07 models will be coming out in a few months, should we wait for price-drop or jump on it now. We are not in a hurry, but color might be limited as I am now realizing. Thanks for any and all advice.
  • potofgoldpotofgold Member Posts: 11
Well, My best advice is to negotiate through the internet, look for information on this forum and calculate the real bottom line for the dealer.

41.2K is really high, I strongly recommend re negotiating.

As for your next question, waiting does mean prices may be better (potentially a cash back from Acura), but the trim line and color you are looking for may be sold out, that is the trade off.

    Good luck
  • mdx2bmdx2b Member Posts: 7
Well the actual selling quote was 38.5K but TT&L pushed it to 41.2K. I do agree that it is a high, especially based on what I am reading here. By "real bottom line for the dealer" do you mean like invoice price or the $2500 incentive?
You are correct about availability as we've had some difficulty getting the color in the trim we want so might have to pull the trigger sooner than expected. I just want to feel like I am getting a good deal and not bent over. I will re-read this thread to see if I find anything else. thanks for your help so far.
  • vladc2000vladc2000 Member Posts: 43
I would try to look at the price, without added taxes, since they are different for different states or non-existent for some other lucky buyers :-)

The invoice on your car is $40,447 with destination less 2500 marketing support makes the total of $37,947 with destination and excluding fees/taxes. I would consider this to be the highest limit and see how much of the holdback you could get from the dealer. Of course, it depends on how many Acura dealers are in your area.
  • mdx2bmdx2b Member Posts: 7
I'm now down to $39K drive out, tentatively. We've contacted 3 but there are 4 dealerships around here. This is the lowest and best deal so far. Is it pushing to want more or quit while I'm 'almost' ahead :) ?
  • kalbo607kalbo607 Member Posts: 12
Wow if I could find a deal like yours for $39K out the door here in Las Vegas, I would be buying right away!

    Hi Folks

Which extra charges are typically OK to appear on the purchase contract ? Here is the list of charges I know of:

    a. Purchase price
    b. destination charge
    c. accessories and installation
    d. sales tax (on a + b + c)
    e. title and registration

Are there other charges ? Which charges should set off internal alarms in my brain ?

Specifically I am looking to purchase in the Bay Area.

Hi!! I'm in Phoenix, also, and am trying to get the best deal on a Touring model...which dealer did you go to? Was it Tempe Acura, Peoria, or Scottsdale? What approach do you think is best? Also, how do we get a salesman to show us the true dealer cost of the vehicle? Do we just calculate the 3% and take that off the price they are offering? PLEASE HELP! Thank you so much....image
  • mdx4me1mdx4me1 Member Posts: 25
This info is a bit outdated, but can be a reference point. I feel I have had one of the best deals on this board for my '05 MDX w/NAV and RES.

I bought from Pohanka last summer ('05) at month end, and got a price of $38,500 including all taxes, fees, etc. That would bring my price before taxes/fees to just over $37k. To put icing on it, I also got the 0.9% financing they were offering back then :)

The dealers will give up their holdback and incentives - you just have to be firm in giving them a low price and be persuasive that it's the amount you will pay - nothing more. Also, only deal with final prices, and let them worry about backing out the taxes and fees.

I live in South Florida and am looking to lease an 06 MDX with Touring and Nav. Please let me know if you have had a particularly good or bad experience with any dealers. I have been to two in Broward, but haven't really begun negotiations yet. Am hoping to get this done in the next week to take advantage of the $2500 marketing support. Thanks.

Good info to know, that was a really good deal you worked out there though :) Too bad the financing isn't the same as then. I'll definitely be firm on the final/drive out price only.
By the way.... is it ok to request an invoice and worksheet now or wait until we go to the dealership?
    Thanks again.

I have seen here a couple of references to people using an agent to negotiate and buy/lease various cars and SUVs.

How do they work, how do find a reputable agent and has the experience been a good one??

Can you help me understand how you arrived at the holdback of 1194 ? My calculations give a number of 1132. Edmunds says that the Acura holdback is 3% of BASE msrp which is 37125 + 615 = 37740 and 3% of that comes to 1132. Did I miss something in the calculations ?

Could the MDX user help me out about the differences between touring and base model. I am not inclined for a navigational system and either RES or portable DVD (on headrest) would do good for me. I understand a base model wouldn't come with navi and RES. Besides these two what are the differences between touring and base models? With the deals going on right now it may be possible to get a base model in lower 30's. However, I don't want to jump for that if the differences between these tow models are far beyond navi and res. Any suggestion would be highly appreciated.

Also what experience do you have about buying a MDX in Phila/DE/northern MD area. Any suggestion about prices?
    Thanks

Two questions for the knowledgeable audience.

    o $33,400 + tax/tags ok in central NJ?

o as I will get the best deal in selling my 2004 MDX privately what is the likelihood of the $2500 dlr cash incentive being continued.? (I know it was 1500 in June)
Dlr lots do seem to have less inventory?

    Thanks all!
  • jtc9038jtc9038 Member Posts: 11
Acura website will let you do compare. Basic differences are tires/wheels, roof rack, radio, bluetooth. All basics are the same.

In central NJ 30.6 to 30.9. I am in mkt for touring.

    Good luck.

Has anyone had any luck getting a deal in the Saint Louis area. I had been waiting for a couple months thinking the deals would get better, but I think because there aren't many dealers here, that they aren't to competitive. The best that I have gotten for MDX with DVD/RES is 38,800. Not very good. I think I am going to try and find a different vehicle, I really like the MDX but refuse to pay a large markup for one.

I would appreciate if anyone got a good deal, hearing about it.
  • mdx2bmdx2b Member Posts: 7
Yeah, I'm now wondering the same thing...if the $2500 marketing incentive will be discontinued or increased. Anybody know if the financing will change as well?

Potofgold - I am also in the DC area looking for a Touring w/ NAV. Just wanted to see how your negotiating coming along. Thanks.
  • jwagerjwager Member Posts: 3
I also live in DC area and received internet quote from Pohanka (today) on 2006 Touring w/NAV & RES for $38327, which is $1500 below invoice. I haven't started negotiating yet, but did see on this board where someone got out the door for same thing for $37K at Pohanka back in April. Should $37K be my starting point?

Pohanka website lists a used 2006 with around 11,000 miles for $38,999. Are they crazy? :confuse:

From the quotes that I have received so far, $33,400 is a preety good price. What dealership in Jersey offers this price? Was this what they offered you, or was this what you negotiated down to? Thanks
