  • aaddmmaaddmm Member Posts: 6

Anyone bought a MDX base or MDX touring model in Tennessee lately? What type of deal were you able to work out?

All, I am in the market for a 2003 MDX with Navigation in the Atlanta area. From the edmunds overview of the 2003 MDX, it appears as if the Navigation model for that year always came with a rear view camera.
Does anybody know if they also had the navigation models w/o the rear view camera that year ?
    TIA for your responses.

Update- got my 2006 MDX Touring yesterday from Montgomeryville Acura in PA. Got it for $33,617 plus TTL, which is an awesome price I think. No sales pressure. Extremely pleasant experience. I had been talking to Springfield Acura of NJ the whole last week, and was about to drive down to pick up my mdx as the final price had been negotiated at $33,312 when they started giving me the run around. I was told on 2 occasions that "check your inbox in 3-5 minutes" & there will be the pricing details that we had aggreed to. That was a week ago & still no email. Can't get the saleman on the phone either. He is always "out making a delivery & will call you as soon as possible as he is extremely busy." I had spoken to a salesman on the phone twice. When I called to speak to him on the second occasion, I was told he was "out making a delivery" & when I told the secretary that he has not returned my call & if I dont hear from him, I am going to another dealership, I was put on hold. 30 seconds later, a man comes on the phone & identifies himself as the salesman that I spoken to the day before-----HE WASN'T---YET HE KEPT SAYING HE WAS THE SAME SALESMAN WHEN I QUESTIONED HIM SEVERAL TIMES.....in short..they offered the best price, yet I strongly feel they are a bunch of scam artists...extremely deceptive..everything from price to availabilty of color!! Anyone thinking of dealing with them, watch out..I ended up paying $300 more at Montgomeryville but the smooth & pleasant experience with them was worth it.. Good Luck to everyone still looking.

just to clarify: the $31263 includes $615 destination charge.

    anyone????
  • potofgoldpotofgold Member Posts: 11
I asssume you are talking about the base MDX (not touring)Between options and base price you would be overpaying by approximately $1K+. IMHO, consider going back and negotiating. Given the end of the month and the incentives that dealers are getting, they should be able to get you a better deal.

Look at other posts to get a true botomline price.

    Good Luck.

okay... will try to do better. thanks for the feedback.

I realize I could get touring or more for the price of the accessories, but have a picture of what I want the car to look like in my mind..... I had been in a showroom and they had an MDX all decked out with the accessories I mention above (with the exception of the tow hitch which we need for boat hauling). I fell in love with the souped up look. there's nothing in the touring models (with exception of RES) that I really want so I am putting the extra money into accessories.

the best I have been able to do so far is accessories at 80% of listed price - I suppose there is still a fair bit of markup in them even at this discounted price.

    thanks again for the feedback.

    potofgold:
The purchase is going to have to be put off for a month. I was about to buy a MB R500 for all of the accessories that the MDX has standard (NAV, satellite radio, ...) for $50K, but the third row does not lie flat like in the SUVs; the seat portion of the third row folds so that it is perpendicular to the rest of the seat. It takes away about 25% of the usable space. While it has more cargo space by volume, you can't use it. It was an awesome car and it distracted me from buying the MDX in July.
In any event the best price I had gotten was from Pohanka, but that was almost 3 weeks ago. I believe it was around $36K for the Touring with just the NAV.

    What was your experience?

Please allow me to throw a less intellectual question. I know state of Oregon and New Hampshire are tax exempted, does that law apply to out of state resident purchasing a car too? Thanks.
  • ny63ny63 Member Posts: 6
    Hi:
I am new to this forum.
Is the $2500 incentive to dealer for MDX going to continue in August also?

Also, is $38000(inclusive of destination)a good price for MDX touring with NAV and DVD.

    Thanks
  • charlemagnecharlemagne Member Posts: 1
I'm a New Hampshireite...the way I understand it if you live in a state with sales tax and buy a car here, you still pay tax in your home state.

The reverse for us...we can buy anywhere and not pay tax, but there is a big registration tax in NH.

We bought an MDX Touring over the weekend, after much reading and research here. There are very few dealers in NH and only one in VT, so it's not at all competitive and we ended up driving 4 hours to Curry Acura in Scarsdale, NY where Acura dealers are thick on the ground, have lots of inventory and are motivated!

For the record we bought for approximately invoice plus destination, less $2500; $34150, including all season mats.

Nice people to deal with. A long drive but I don't mind a day on the road to save $3000+.

I want to thank all of you who post here for the very helpful info.

Depends on where in the country you are located. I just bought an MDX with NAV and DVD for $38,250 in New Jersey after negotiating fairly hard with several dealerships. The other part of the equation, remember, is inception fees including motor vehicle, first mo payment, "acquisition/bank" fees, and tax. Be careful -- they can pad this -- ask for a detailed breakdown.

Not sure the 2,500 extends into August. Better check quick, since the dealer told me the deal above was only good through today (although may have been a ploy).
  • ny63ny63 Member Posts: 6
    Thanks Pocampo.

    I am in NY.

The price quoted to me is 38000+tax+DMV+45+16+12.50

Dealer will not tell whether the incentive will be extended to August.

    Hi mdx2b,

Can you tell me which dealership gave you this fantastic OTD price of 39K in Houston area? Thanks. Did you do it through their Internet Sales manager?
  • bdaviskcbdaviskc Member Posts: 2
Touring with Navi/RES for 38300 plus 1068 for all weather mats, rear cargo tray, wheel locks, side moldings, and satin chrome sidesteps installed. Add in 150 for processing fee and thats my out the door price of 39,518. I probably could have squeezed them a bit more, but I consider this at least an ok/average deal and we needed to get it done. My wife is quite happy with her new ride! Good luck everyone.

Does anyone know the new programs effective today?
  • jtc9038jtc9038 Member Posts: 11
While I'm sure Honda/Acura knows what they want to do, they normally wait until the monthly sales figures are accumulated.
  • jdoanjdoan Member Posts: 9
I got the following pricing from a Fleet manager in Northern California as of 7/31, which's supposed to already account for the July $2500 cash back from Acura to the dealer). The price already includes Destination charge:

    - MDX 4WD Touring with Nav (model 188): $35,357
    - MDX 4WD Touring with Nav & DVD (model 189): $36,662

I'm still holding out for August to see if there would be better incentive.
  • toothbrushguytoothbrushguy Member Posts: 4
For what it's worth, the CarsDirect Target Price on an MDX w/Touring (in North Carolina) went from $34,872 on 7/31 to $37,372 on 8/1.
The difference reflects the $2,500 Marketing Allowance that was available in July.
Hopefully, a new incentive will be forthcoming when then July sales figures are in.
I did find two dealers (one in NC and one in GA) that quoted $34,900 on an MDX Touring but I'm not ready to buy untl early September.

From Herb Connally of Framingham on 31st July for: 31,200 + 229 (doc) + 65 (reg) + tax...They are also including 2 year free service.

Good people to work with....Just took one hour to complete all the paperwork.
  • mamadadapaigemamadadapaige Member Posts: 35
    hi,
just want to let you know that I think you did quite well on the accessory prices... I also bought an MDX on 7/31. I bid aggressively at 5 different dealerships and went with the one who not only had the lowest price on the car but also the lowest initial cost on accessories (AND this dealership gave me 20% off on all the accessories I ordered - none of the other dealerships would budge on their accessory prices).... BUT, the bottom line is, even though I got the best price I could manage, you still did better by $121 on your accessory prices.

I purchased a base model with the following accessories:
body side moldings, chrome side steps, towing package, roof rack, tailgate spoiler, all weather mats, and remote starter.

I think the car is going to look fabulous (won't pick it up until Thursday). I was also able to get my first color choice which was Amazon Green. CAN'T WAIT!!!!

congratulations on your car. I think you got a great deal.
  • suzintnsuzintn Member Posts: 19
Just an fyi the cash is still available in August.

Rolled over attractive financing rates as well.
  • ahujasuahujasu Member Posts: 15
I thought it would be a better incentive this month but I guess its been successful enough. I purchased a Touring with nav/dvd in the Bay Area for 36,692 including destination. Tax and license were extra. Pretty happy as this is not really the vehicle I was looking for but I had to replace my aging minivan. I wanted to see a Highlander Hybrid redesign but don't know when that's coming. With almost 8k off list and 8k less then the supposed starting price of the 2007 I'm satisfied.

I picked up my MDX touring this past weekend in NJ. I didn't get any accessories, however, now I'm thinking that I should get the side body molding to protect from parking lot dings.

Do you guys think this protects the car effectively? How much should I expect to pay? Thanks
  • haig818haig818 Member Posts: 2
Anybody else who can confirm this? I went to a dealer in the L.A. area last night and was told that various incentives were still available but couldn't get a specific answer about the $2,500 factory-to-dealer incentive. Looking to buy this weekend.
  • jno1jno1 Member Posts: 1
What dealer in the Bay Area did you purchase from? Did you buy any options. Thanks for the info.
  • haig818haig818 Member Posts: 2
So, I ended up buying today. $36,942 (including destination) plus tax, title and license for a Sage Brush Blue with Touring/NAV/DVD RES amd black interior (my first choice all around). Also paid an extra $795 for the spoiler. I think I got a good price for the car, though I got jacked on the spoiler (looks like they tacked on the labor charge and they probably made up a chunk of their profit there). Didn't do my homework and know that I could buy a spoiler for so cheap on ebay ($250 only!!!).

Also asked around and many dealers told me the factory/dealer incentive is still available, though I couldn't get a consensus as to the amount.
  • ahujasuahujasu Member Posts: 15
Los Gatos Acura. I did not get any options from the dealer.
  • cheapritacheaprita Member Posts: 2
After spending too little time researching this vehicle we bought one today for 34000. They wanted to send us packing at 33,000 but they eventually saw the light at 34. Hope it's a good deal. What do you think? :D
  • mj89mj89 Member Posts: 4
The quote I'm able to get is in the 35k range. What dealer did you purchase from? Did 34k include destination charge?
  • cheapritacheaprita Member Posts: 2
We are dealing with First Acura in Seekonk, Ma. According to the salesman, the only additional fees are the doc prep fees, around $200. We haven't picked up the car yet and we still have to negotiate the trade. I did receive a quote for a Base Model from Inskip in RI for $35,500.
  • ncmdxncmdx Member Posts: 19
Sorry for the delay in responding. I still love my MDX. Very happy with everything about it. The main reason I watch this forum is to potentially buy another one.

Unfortunately, I play by the book with the premium gas requirement. I don't like to pay the premium price (especially now), but I don't want to do anything that might impede its performance.

    Hi,
For those who bought their MDX in the Bay Area, do you know if the 2.9% for 36 mos is still available or you just get the $2500 off and that's it? Thanks
  • calvin464calvin464 Member Posts: 12
    Hi ahujasu,
Is it possible you give us the name of the saleman that help you at LosGatos acura? That's is a very good deal 36,692 for 06 Touring with Nav and DVD. Were you able to get the 2.9% for 36 mos as well? I'm planning to buy within a week. Thanks a lot.
  • jdoanjdoan Member Posts: 9
I had a quote from the Fleet guy in Marine last Sunday. It was 35,900 for model 189 (Touring + Nav + DVD) plus tax & license. He sounded serious enough, but I could not make the time to drive up there.

The 2.9% is available for 24 & 36 months. 60 month is %4.9. Insist on getting it since the financing promotion is by Acura (for the MDX only) and not the local dealer. If the dealer says you can't get that rate, then just walk out.

I do expect them to be more deperate to clear out the MDX as the year end comes closer each month. All Acura dealers seems to have a lot of MDX left in their lot, I believe on the average is 30 MDX per dealership.

Los Gatos is not a cheap place to get car. So I don't believe you can get a 188 model (Touring + Nav) for 34K like someone has posted. 2 weeks ago, I was quoted (in person) by the Fleet person at LG for $37300 for the 189 model, there was no ground for deal there.

I'm poor, so I'll only buy it when it's a real good deal :(

    hi,

I have a quote on a MDX Touring (no dvd, no nav system) in Pennsylvania for 33,123 plus tax and tags. I am just starting my new car research and am wondering if that appears to be a good deal. The financing also is 4.9% for 4 or 5 years.

    Thanks.
  • tlove3tlove3 Member Posts: 4
after hitting all the dealerships in boston area, the best price i was quoted for 06 Touring w/ nav dvd was $37,899. i'll probably hit the bid this weekend. thanks for all the help on this forum.
  • jdoanjdoan Member Posts: 9
Can you wait until the last day of August instead? The dealerships are much more willing to drop the price to meet month end on the last day of the month.

Also, don't bother talking to the sale persons when you want the quote. I always called up the dealership, or showed up at their front desk, and asked for the Fleet Manager directly. (I never needed to know the name of the Fleet Manager until the person came out to see me :) then asked him/her how much he/she can let me have to exact model for. If the price was not good enough, I just thanked them and walk out (politely). The whole process should take you less than 10 minutes and would always give you the much lower price than you could get with those car salemans (plus all the time waiting for them to run in and out to use their sale tactics.

If you call and the Fleet Manager is not there, don't even bother to talk to anyone else, cuz they will hand you over to a car sale person (who has no ideas, seriously). Just asked for when the Fleet manager will be back adn try to reach him/her again.

    Good lucks.
