I finally ended up buying from Herb Connolly in Framingham... did you get a quote from them? They had a much lower price than the Acura in Brighton/Boston or from the Peabody dealership. They were also very nice to deal with. They never made me feel like I was being unreasonable even though the price I offered was very low (and balked at by the other dealers I spoke to).

good luck. report back how it turns out.

sorry for the delay haven't checked the forum in a couple of days.

Los Gatos Acura was the closest dealer to my house. I had actually obtained quotes via email from Steven's Creek Acura and had Los Gatos match it. They weren't too pleased but we were very far into the process and they decided to match it. I got the 4.9% for 60 months. THe 2.9% for 24 and 36 months was available and I believe still is. You can get that information from the edmunds site under incentives. The sales person was a female as most are at this dealership.

Shopping for a base 'Premium' 2006 MDX in NJ. What's a fair price? I was offered $30,900 by a dealership in Northern NJ - anyone did better? Thanks.

After tons of research and invaluable help from this forum, I bought an MDX/Touring/NAV for low 35s. I picked it up from Tishcer Acura in Laurel, MD. The internet sales manager there is a great guy, very workable and was very friendly over the phone. Overall a very pleasent experience.
  • mmariommario Member Posts: 7
This is really a good price. Is it MDX touring with NAV? I checked around (Boston), and the lowest price I got is over 35k. Did you do a walk-in, or negotiate over the phone? I assume that this price does not include a trade-in .

    Thanks

I have seen on this post that people have bought the MDX with nav and dvd for 36,692. How is that possible if the invoice price is 40,497 (incl dest) and with the 2,500 rebate, is not the lowest price that the dealer can sell is 37,997 (40497-2500). I have been quoted 39,107 and they are ready to let me walk anything below this.

can someone pls explain the logic.
  • udhawanudhawan Member Posts: 6
sorry, i meant i have been quoted 38,107 and not 39,107.

I got an offer for $36,592.00 in the greater Atlanta area from Nalley Acura. Has anyone else in the ATL got a lower offer. Just interested because this seems like a good deal. Edmunds TMV for Atlanta is $38,654. I am in Los Angeles right now, but will surely buy this weekend when I return home. I am thinking the dealers are trying to clear room for the new "higher priced" MDX's in a few weeks.

Thanks for all your invaluable post, I've finally bought my 06 touring with Nav (aspen white) for $35600, OTD is like $39000 (2.9% for 36mos) at Steven Creek on Sun. I know I might get a better deal by month end, but couldn't wait any longer. Real easy to deal with the Internet Sale Manager there, no hassle, no pressure to buy accessories. Time to get online for accessories now.

There is a dealer holdback of 3% on these vehicles. The following is the breakdown for MDX Touring with Nav and DVD.

    MSRP $40,870.00
    Invoice $40,497.00
    Dealer Hold Back $1,326.00
    Marketing Support $2,500.00
    Dealer Cost $36,671.00

The deal you get depends on how much of the hold back the dealer is willing to give you.
  • ahujasuahujasu Member Posts: 15
The dealers do get a holdback. When I bought the car I calculated that with the dealer incentive, and the dealer giving me most of his holdback, they profited a nice 76 dollars from my sale. Some high volume dealers are making more deals because, I read either in this or another MDX forum, that each dealer gets a larger quota of RDXs for each mdx sold. As the profits will be much higher on the new model they are going to still turn a pretty good profit.

I found a calulation sheet I had done prior to my purchase:
    MSRP 44,815
    invoice 40,442
    dealer holdback is 1326
    Dealer incentive 2500

So if the dealer had given me the full holdback, the price would have been 36616.

    Good luck with negotiations.

Which dealership(s) did you go to? I'm looking to buy this weekend as well. Thanks.
  • mmariommario Member Posts: 7
I called around (Boston, Peabody, Auburn)...and have not gone to any dealership yet.

Any idea what a reasonable payment for '06 MDX+NAVI+DVD with 36m/18k. So far best offer is $688. incl tax with tot$500 down. What is the money factor, residual value, and reasonable selling price for this vehicle.
Dealers don't seem to want to move this vehicle eventhough its obsolete with the new model year coming next month.

What Nalley Acura dealership in Atlanta did you get the $36.6K offer form. Also, can you confirm that was Touring and was that with Nav and DVD

Fortunately it is finally cooling down now that you are coming back from LA

    Thanks
  • greenavenuegreenavenue Member Posts: 27
Thank you to udhawn and dinnu for the well laid out info

    Pls clarify though:

It sounds like the best Price so far on the Touring with Nav and DVD is $36.7K ($40.5K-Holdback 1.3K-Incentive$2.5K)

Can anyone tell me definitely, can you get the Holdback and Incentive and get the below market financing they are offering. Someone told me because financing is from Honda and the Incentive and Holdback is from the Dealer, these two are not tied together, but it sounds like they may be do good to be true

    Pls advise

    Thanks
  • greenavenuegreenavenue Member Posts: 27
I thought the best price for the Touring with Nav and DVD was $36,700 but then I saw you go low 35's.

Can you tell us was that with DVD and what was the actual number. Everybody little bit helps

    Pls advise

    Thanks
  • greenavenuegreenavenue Member Posts: 27
Pls confirm. I assume the $33.6K price is w/o Nav and DVD

If it includes it a may drive up to PA

    Pls advise

    Thanks
  • greenavenuegreenavenue Member Posts: 27
    Pls anybody weigh in

I believe we are getting close to pulling the trigger on the Touring with Nav and DVD rather then waiting for the 07 for $8-$10K more. Alot of school bills

What does everything think. What accessories are advisable and what is the price. I do not need towing and like things understated

Price on acc I have heard 80% of List

    Pls advise

    Thanks
  • greenavenuegreenavenue Member Posts: 27
In terms of warranty work, does it matter what dealer you buy from or can you buy anywhere and all dealers have to honor the warranty terms

    Pls advise

    Thanks
  • mmariommario Member Posts: 7
I think he said low 35s with NAV, not NAV & DVD
  • guitarlpguitarlp Member Posts: 1
Alright... so I've got the price down to $36,800 on a Touring package with Navigation and Entertainment package. The problem I'm having is the interest rate. I'm putting $4,000 down and financing the rest. They ran my credit and it came back with a score of 678. They're offering 5.9% but I'm holding out for 4.9%.

They said 4.9% is not possible because my credit score would need to be at least 710. What do you guys think? Is it possible for them to budge with the APR? I called a few other dealerships and they say it's not their decision and it's Honda's Credit decision so there's nothing they can do.

If this is the best deal I can get I'll take it... but if it's possible for 4.9% then I'd like to get that.

    guitarlp:

Which dealership is offering $36800. Is it in NY?

Also, what is the best deal anybody got in NY for MDX touring with NAV and DVD.

    Thanks
  • jdoanjdoan Member Posts: 9
The warranty is by Acura, therefore it should be honored by any authorized dealer/repair shop. If a salepersonn told you that they would not honor the warranty because you didn't buy it from them, then don't bother to talk to that person cuz he/she is using the usual sale tactic on you (and should not be considered an honest person to deal with).

It'll actually bring the dealership more service revenue if you bring you car bought somewhere else to their service. I known the Dodge dealership on Stevens Creek, SJ will always gladly accept Plymouth and Chrysler warranty repair. It's all about money, you know.
  • greenavenuegreenavenue Member Posts: 27
Thanks gracie6...that is what I thought
  • dinnudinnu Member Posts: 17
Yes, you can get the low apr financing. I got the 2.9% for 36 months.
  • dinnudinnu Member Posts: 17
As jdoan said warranty will be covered by any Acura dealership. The only thing that you may miss out is the loaner car. Some dealerships don't give you a loaner car if you didn't buy the vehicle from them.

That is great pricing. Can you please tell me which dealership you went to since I cannot seem to locate one that would give me the pricing you indicated? I live in the SF Bay Area (East Bay) and would like to buy an MDX model 189 for $ 36,662. Thanks so sharing! Wish me luck!

Quotes received by email request in Southern California for MDX w/Nav ranged from $35,392 up to $37,272, plus the dealers noted that they would be willing to consider further deals if I found prices lower than theirs. Quotes for MDX Touring base ranged from $33,017 to $34,797. What deals have the people in Southern California come across lately?
  • clark59clark59 Member Posts: 4
I have just started looking for an MDX with Touring Package and Navigation. I was quoted as low as $36,152. I am in the Tri-State area and was wondering if this was a good price. I have been looking at other posts and see that some people have gotten it for mid $35K but they don't seem to be in the same area. Any advice/help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Where in NJ did you get those quotes? Can you tell me the dealership? Also, how old are those quotes? And do you think they will get better by the end of the month?
  • dinnudinnu Member Posts: 17
No, there is no pre-payment penalty. But why would you want to pay a 2.9% loan early (unless it's 4.9%), you can put that money in a bank (like EmigrantDirect) and get 5.15% interest... just a thought.
  • charles12charles12 Member Posts: 79
    Clark59,

I got it today from springfieldacura internet sales person.

Although I am not in a hurry to buy a car, the deals are so good, I might want buy one. The price is lower than the new RDX (which is a smaller car and has similar milage/gal - why want to buy a smaller one with the same milage?).

Do you think you also can get the 2.9% fiancing?

That is not true. There is no default prepayment penalty on the 2.9% financing on the MDX. I recently bought an MDX and the the financing agreement clearly states that there is no prepayment penalty.

Last week, my wife and I bought a 2006 MDX w/ Touring. We are replacing our 2004 MDX which was totalled in an accident. We were offered the extended warranty (8yr/120K and $0 deductible) for $2800.00.

    1. Should I even bother getting an extended warranty or should I live by the fact that Acura's got a great reputation (I plan to keep the car at least 8 years).

    2. If I should get the extended warranty, any advice on where I should purchase it? $2800 seems kind of high
