K, sounds like you are doing better than "average". Big sales for most dealers this holiday, so maybe you can swing another few hundred bucks off. Good luck!
Good night , guys. I went to dealership for buying a new car. They hit me ... I have my lorn bank , but they said I should lorn from their dealership. It is quite high rate. I don't buy it. They are liars.
Hello guys, Just drove home in my new 2015 CRV EX AWD. I stayed there for 7 hours, negotiating, even walked out once to get a better deal. I was able to get a sale price- $25,208.41 (does not include doc fee- $195) with free all weather mats. They were keen to lock the deal due to end of the month.
I'm in market for a 15 CR-V EX FWD, have contact several dealership in Oklahoma city area. MSRP for this model is $26425 (includes some accessories such as splash guard and wheel lock). So far best offer I got is $24300 including all dealer fee (exclude TTL). Is that a good deal? will July 4th weekend make any difference? I would appreciate any suggestions on negotiate a better offer, thanks!
Brain125, thanks for all the help. Went with your suggestions and in NC sister got an EXL w/o Navi (with mud guards, wheel locks, LoJack & cargo tray) for $25702+$599 doc fee + taxes/reg. My friend also got Touring AWD for $30149 (with mud guards, wheel locks, LoJack & cargo tray) + $599 doc fee + taxes/reg.
Just bought a 2015 Honda CRV EX-L+Navi from Honda On Grand, Elmhurst IL.
The best quote I got: $28,514 (with Destination) $168.43 Doc fee $25 electronic filing fee $2190 Sales Tax $196 plates and title. $31,093 out the door
I live in Naperville IL, a western suburb of Chicago. The Three largest Honda dealers in the state are the 3 closest to me, but I got the best deal from a much smaller dealer 35 miles away. I tried asking dealers closer to me to match this, but they said it was way too low for them to match. The fat cat dealerships are used to having high volumes of sales at invoice or between invoice and MSRP.
In addition the vehicle had some dealer added (cargo mat, floor mats and wheel locks). The salesman said he'd offer them at a discount from retail price, but if I didn't want them he would have them taken off which was very fair of him. They were offered to me at a discounted price of 330. I declined and said that I could purchase identical items online for (approx 105, 80 & 40). It helped that I had a printout showing the prices. He then said okay to 225.
I sent out sending my initial mail to 14 viable (size of inventory) dealers within a reasonable radius stating my requirements, the target price I was looking for (with reasons) and a timeline commitment to buy by close of business on June 30th. All my negotiating was done through email only. I didnt provide anyone with my telephone number at any point. This may not be the best deal people have gotten, but I am satisfied that it was the best I could've gotten in my area at this time.
Just got a phone call from the dealership this morning for 15 CRV EX FWD. MSRP 26425, sale price 23800. Include all dealer fees. The sale person told me on the phone that the price only available today and ask me to make a deposit or they will not honor that price the next day. That's only dealership in my area has the color I'm looking for. I do have another dealership 2 hours away from where I live offered me the same price. Should I pull the trigger or wait till July 4th? @Brain125, any thoughts would be appreciate it. Thanks
Dealer has Vehicle / Color you want. . Tomm. dealer may not be able to offer you that price. No dealers near you has come close to this number.................................................. Buy..
Hi. I signed ARBITRATION AGREEMENT paper, Actually, They said it needed protect me . But now, I know, it is scam. How can I do ? please. Help me. I take the new car already. N n
Well, it's not necessarily a scam. If your agreement isn't mandatory, that's probably livable. Toyota requires them and Toyota's are mandatory and binding, so I think their contracts are onerous.
If yours is mandatory and binding, then Honda (or maybe just the dealer, depending on who is on your agreement) is trying to limit your options and could even use it to fight a lemon law claim. Your remedy in that case would be an appeal to the AG's office to fight 'em and there's always the threat of publicity.
Last I heard, Hyundai dumped their mandatory agreements (don't know if their dealers go along). I think they all should be forced to only offer arbitration as an option, but not make it mandatory. You could ask the dealer to undo it but my guess is that you are stuck.
Just negotiated a deal on a 2015 CRV ex-l AWD . price including destination is $26,855. This includes everything except a $499 processing fee and taxes, tags , title. We go tomorrow to test drive and close - any thoughts on this deal before tomorrow? Thanks!
If I remember correctly $27,700 was your best offers a few weeks ago. So from your new numbers it looks like your at 1586 below invoice minus the 499 doc fee. Not bad.
Test drive the vehicle then see if you could get some freebie oil changes / accessories thrown into the deal.
I'm looking to purchase a 2015 EX AWD in Southeast Michigan. Eligible for the $500 grad discount. Is $24,600 (including everything other than tax) a good total to be shooting for?

Thanks!
Yes................ good target price unless your states doc fee's are higher than $299. I would not mention your grad discount until after you and dealer have a agreed sales price on the vehicle. Its not like that extra $500 is coming out of dealers pocket to pay down car.
I'm in the Dallas area and I've been sending out emails to a bunch of dealerships in the area for a CRV-EX FWD. The best price I've received is $24,000 +TTL (this price includes all dealer add-ons and dealer fees). Is that a good deal or should I wait for the end of the month or end of next quarter? We'd love to have the car now, but we can wait.
A good low target price is 1k below your models invoice price. Getting anything higher (1200 to 1500 below invoice ) is really good in your area. I seen your emailed quote this dealer is slick. They have a protection pack / security system on the vehicle and do not disclose the charge. Tell dealer by email or phone if he wants your business that these accessories must be excluded off your model or you will buy at another dealership. If they agree that dealer is about 1000 below invoice price. Email call other dealers and tell them exactly what you want and what price gets deal done today.

Make your lowest deal with closest dealer by the end of this weekend. Waiting till end of July, or a couple of month probably will save you a few more dollars but the fact remains you have No new vehicle that you want Now.
Your at 867 below invoice. If you play the game right you should knock off a couple hundred more by this Sunday. Pit these dealers against each other. You will win.
Every month from here on you let go buy on any 2015 model vehicle is also depreciating closer to becoming a 1 year old model. Plus 2016 models are usually out by Sept / Oct, most cars

Hi Briani might change AWD to 2wd the quote is 23,560(Price excludes sales tax, license, documentation fee, dealer installed accessories (if any) and any other government fees.) I haven't negotiate this(2wd) yet. And is the invoice price include with destination price?
Add the 880 destination charge to your models invoice price . Then subtract your target price to buy. 1000 ,1200 1400, 1600 etc. That number is what your telling dealer gets your business today . You still have to add taxes tags, and dealers doc fee onto that price for the total out the door number.
EX awd invoice = $25,157 + 880 = .............................$26,037 minus your target offering off this number for a immediate sale today. Email / call..............10 / 15 dealers you will wrap up sale today.
EX fwd w/ dest charge =........................... $24,867
Good luck.................................. post your deal when done
My car EXL AWD has vibration. Omg. I definetley feel it. I bought it 2days ago ? Is it possible exchange or return ? Feel bad.
Talk to your dealer. It's (sometimes) possible to unwind a deal.
Honda knows about the issue but, afaik, is still claiming it's "normal". Some owners don't have it, some aren't bothered by it, and others are bothered by it.
Ask selling dealers if the quotes include or exclude the $880 destination fee. you also need to know each dealers doc fee charge. Inquiry. High doc fee charges cut into your deal.
Use my target price guide as a reference to judge your deals.
Going for a quick 9 holes on the Golf Coarse check back in later. Post if you need more help @stever I'm sure will be around.
Two weeks ago I leased a basic 2015 CRV with 4WD. No frills. No nav system. Nothing other than 4WD. I leased using my Costco card and Costco's prenegotiated pricing. Problem I have is there is no way to know if I got a good deal or not. Afterwards I called Costco Auto program and tried asking what they thought but they refuse to give me any information at all. All they did was hound me to either complain about the dealer or complete their survey . As to my questions they told me to ask the dealer to show me their costs which we all know is like lets make a deal. They have a drawer full of different invoices to suit their needs. I spoke with three people at Costco including a supervisor and nada. They want me to ask the wolf to guard the chicken coop. So I refused to answer their questions if they will not answer mine. Anyway here is my deal. I guesstimated the numbers in this post as I do not have the paperwork with me but they are very close to actual. Anyway here it is from Long Island New York:
36 month 12,000 per year lease $1999 down $223.00 per month residual was quoted around $16,000 after 3 years based on purchase price value of $24,500 which is full sticker price that came off my vehicle.
No manufacturer's rebates (salesman said included) no incentives, no extras.
I was quoted an enormous price for roof racks and the financing guy had a laundry list of very expensive and overpriced extras that the salesman was not allowed to discuss with me. We declined because of the prices quoted were so overpriced it was a rip off. Sky high.
Did anyone out there get a better Costco deal? I am surprised I cannot partake in a rebate program and I really am not sure about it being included. Then why was my downpayment almost $2000?
I'm not up on leasing but from other comments I've read, the Costco deals are generally pretty good. They can vary by dealer, but I haven't seen any complaints about their deals. The reason the salesperson was overpricing the accessories was likely because the deal was so "skinny" to start with.
Hello, I've just started my 2015 CRV EX FWD search. So far, I've surfed 3-4 dealer websites in the San Francisco Bay Area to check out the inventory for EX FWD vehicles. So far, it seems no one have many EX FWD models left, and the ones that are still available are colors which I prefer would not buy (I'm looking for like white or black).
I've seen many more EXL and Touring models, as well as EX AWD models. (I don't need AWD here in San Francisco).
Questions:
Do I inquire and start negotation about the model and price first, without even thinking about what color is available?
If there are more lets say, 10 EXL fwd models compared to 1 or 2 EX models, would it make sense then to "pay more" for the exl model, but hope and negotiate for a bigger discount or higher percentage discount on the exl?
I've just finished up a couple weeks of test driving CRVs, RAV4s, and Foresters and have decided to pull the trigger on a CRV EX AWD in Maryland (DC suburbs). I want to make sure I get the best possible deal and wanted some feedback before I go asking for prices.
I found this: 2015 CR-V 4WD EX w/ 4WD SUV - 2L I-4 - 4-Cyl MSRP $26,795 Invoice Price$25,158 Destination Fee$880 Holdback$536 Dealer Cost$25,502
So I'm looking at 24,500 times 1.03 for fair profit = 25235.
Then tax *1.06 comes out to 26749 and finally adding in the proc fee and tags +300 and +279.
Does 27328.00 sound like a reasonable offer to start negotiations? Any help or feedback is greatly appreciated. Especially if I have my invoice pricing wrong.
Seems like people are shooting for $1,500 below invoice (it gets a bit confusing because around here as we generally consider destination to be part of the invoice cost). I do invoice (with destination) and mostly ignore holdback. Holdback is what enables dealers to sell below invoice, along with hood money and other bonuses we don't know about.
So, $25,158+$880 = $26,038. Minus $1,500 = $24,538.
No need to "check your work". You're spot on.
Just make sure the dealer understands that your $27.3 number is out the door with every last thing included. If you think that's going to confuse them, you could start with the $24.5, but really, you shouldn't have to.
*update currently a dealer offer me $23560 for the EX 2wd and another said he could meet that price also but don't have the color that I want. I told both to exclude any accessories that the dealer installed. ----the funny part is that when I ask Some dealers to exclude those accessories, they stop responding to me.
2nd update the dealer said silver is available but he have to charge for a dealer transfer fee of 300
@CRVSANFRANCISCO, color is important to me so I'd personally solicit quotes with one or two color choices. If you really don't care, you could focus only on the bottom line since deals are usually better on existing inventory (as that $300 transfer fee of @gathunga indicates).
@gathunga, usually there's no "dealer swap" fee if the vehicle is close by. If you hang out a while, maybe the dealer will sweeten the deal.
Hello! I'm in Houston, TX and in the market for 2wd EX-L (no navigation system). I received a few offers via email and here is the break down of the lowest offer.
Hm, I get MSRP of $29,025 and TMV $27,650 for a 75080 zip code (I suspect TMV in Houston is close).
The idea is to try to beat TMV since that's an average, and if you're searching the net and found this discussion, you're an above average shopper. Or maybe I should say below average, because with some emails on this model, you likely can get a bit below invoice. (TMV is close to invoice).
I can't keep up with my own taxes much less yours, so you'll have to figure the selling price you want first, and then add in taxes and reasonable fees to get your OTD price.
(I'm not sure how you're coming up with your MSRP, @vietnu - different model or some options?).
@stever: I'm sorry for the confusion, but the MSRP I have is from the quote that the dealer gave me. I requested for EX-L model with no navigation in my search bar and different dealers came up with different amount for the MSRP. My first new car buying experience was back in 2005, so I'm super glad to come across this forum with my upcoming 2nd one. There's still so much more to learn (and I'm still reading on articles about internet buying... lol), but I feel like I'm on the right track with this forum. Once again, thanks so much for your time and advice!
One tactic is to reply to the dealers and ask them why their MSRP differs from Edmunds (and you can crosscheck our numbers at KBB, Cars.com and other sites).
(I read this stuff every day and I'm still no match for the salespeople who may sell a car, or two or three, every day).

@brian125: Hello and thank you for the figures on the EXL. It greatly help to have an idea that I'm pretty close within the ball park.
While researching and reading different threads in this forum and other outside sources, I noticed there are many 2015 CRV owners experiencing vibrating issue after the purchase. My husband and I now decided to push back purchase until the end of the year with the 2016 model instead. Year-end purchase will most likely give us a good deal plus I'm hoping to have more input on the "feel" of the 2016 model by then.
@brian125 and @stever: Thanks both of you for your time and input. Your help is greatly appreciated and I'll keep lurking in this thread until I finally pull the trigger
This is always the "cusp" time of the year - get a new car now and enjoy driving it for the rest of the summer or wait for the newest models to come out. I tend to wait and never buy, lol.
With a new model like the '15 CR-V, there won't be many changes with the 2016s so ordinarily there's not a lot of reason to wait. And there's a good chance Honda is already tweaking the motor mounts or engine software to try to get rid of the vibrations that some people have experienced. But a few more months should help shake that issue out some more and it's a chance to save more cash in the meantime.
And you may want check out the competition (and the HR-V) too.
This is good price. You can wait until end of month to make a purchase and see if comes few hundred dollars less. Is dealer giving you any basic accessories such as tint, wheel locks?
Good morning, We're interested in a 2015 EX AWD - Denver area TMV shows 26,174. Am I wasting my time to offer ~$1,200 below invoice ($24,8xx) inclusive of dealer fees? I know that it won't hurt to try, just interested in your thoughts.
One alternative would be to solicit some quotes and see how the dealer's offers come in. Hard to say if it matters in the end, but I usually prefer to counter an offer instead of broaching the first one. In any event, how the dealer responds to your quote request can tell you a bit about how they like to negotiate (in-house, by email/text, hide the numbers or transparent).

We're interested in a 2015 EX AWD - Denver area TMV shows 26,174. Am I wasting my time to offer ~$1,200 below invoice ($24,8xx) inclusive of dealer fees? I know that it won't hurt to try, just interested in your thoughts.
Thanks,
