I cannot give out the Sales Guy's name on this forum i think. Best is to get an internet quote and see if you get the same price... If you do not, then respond to this post and we will see how we can share this info.......
"...Chatting with people online about prices they recieved (sic) from other dealers seems a little shady to me, but I guess you got to go where the deals supposedly are because somebody tells you to...". Needless to say, I didn't dignify it with an answer. If you want a GREAT price and OUTSTANDING customer survice I recommend Gresham Honda in Gresham, OR (suburb of Portland). I dealt with two person (male and female) and they were very straightforward from the start. It certainly was worth the extra drive beyond Seattle. Last but not least I want to thank creators of this forum, all the contributors, especially PAULg16 for all the help I got. Coming her first and getting educated before contacting the dealers saved me a lot of money and made this purchase a very pleasant and painless experience. Thanks again.
The interest rate kills the lease benefit in my opinion. Your payment would be $305.39 plus out the door fees like License, registration and doc fees. These can easily add up to $1,500 or more depending on where you live. If your $1,500 was to go towards these fees your capitalized cost would be $27,000 and your payment would be $309.44.
I would wait until July, perhaps Honda will subsidize the money factor and your payment will be less.
Base price 26781.00 including destination
170.00 doc fee, tags
1738.50 tax
Total 28689.50
I also purchased the 7 year/100,000 mile service contract but it was very expensive-1995.00. This dealer has what they call the Keenan Advantage that gives you perks (free oil change, lifetime inspections, lifetime tires, etc.) One of the perks is if you don't use the service contract by the end you get it all back. That was a tough decision. Thanks Again!

Hopefully these will help you with negotiations. Prices do not include destination. Bought a 4WD EXL -with NAV in Steel Blue Metallic and so far we love it.
The kid comes back with a sheet of paper and tells me ‘here it is, you are going to like it, bottom line 360 for 25 payments, then 10 payments of 391--- I say, fine, you have a deal,,, SO THEN the bozo says,, oops, these are the wrong numbers, goes back to his manager and comes back saying,, well the good news is,,, and has the numbers changed to 398 for 13 payments and 427 for 22 payments, I get tweaked and ask for my keys back [they were looking at my trade] and a partner of his comes with him and the keys and lays on the pressure,, how it’s only 20 bucks a month more and how it’s not fair to ‘internet sales guy’ [can’t use his name!!! grrr] and the 2nd guy was getting real pushy,,, after the 1st guy got insulting about my trade and my credit when he came back with the switch. I’M STEAMED. oh, he also told me the msrp was 38k something when I'd seen it at 35kish [and that's what someone listed above]
Found the deal through Edmonds New Car Quote Program. Didn't even negotiate off their initial offer as it was approx $2500 less than every dealer's negotiated best price.
FYI, my experience in living in the Seattle area for nearly twenty years and buying a lot of cars is that it is one of the more "firm" markets in the country - I've had dealer after dealer turn down offers that were considerably better than the rest of the country is getting. And published net KBB prices are often pure fiction.
You might give Bellevue a try... good luck,
- Mark
Thanks, I may try Bellevue again; or I may just buy the thing in California; [I don’t want to do all that driving just now] it’s funny things are so much more expensive up here, [except for homes being 30 or 40% lower], I wonder why cars are so much more expensive?
I understand it’s best to separate the purchase from the financing and the trade in, but sometimes it’s hard to do things separate, especially if you want a lease instead of buying and frankly if I wanted to sell cars, I’d be a car salesman, so I have a trade and it give the shark so much more room to maneuver; but it’s not hard to figure out how much down I’m putting and the monthly payments; I actually faxed American Honda about the boneheads tactics and I’ll see if that does anything, maybe they’ll honor the deal they offered then took away.
Thanks
For my silver EX-L, MSRP 32,395, it was 26,395, plus 499 pro-pack (cargo mat, splash guards, wheel locks) already on the car, total sale price 26,894. With a $55 dealer doc fee, tax and registration, it was 28,212 out the door.
Very easy deal with Bankston (an AutoNation chain dealer). They quoted the 6K-under price by email, in response to my quote request thru their website. The internet manager said over the phone that all units had at least the 499 pack and they wouldn't budge on that, but he did verify that the stock number we were quoting didn't have any additional dealer installed stuff.
I called at 8 pm to tell them I was on the way from about 40 miles away, and they close at 9:00. I got there at 8:45...the internet manager turned me over to a junior sales guy and went on home. They were happy to write me up a no-nonsense deal in record time. No surprises at all. We were out the door by 10:00, and that included a 15 minute test drive, credit app and taking my 2004 Odyssey lease return (not part of the deal).
I just love the truckster so far...my 14yo daughter is flipping out over the XM radio. This was definitely my best car buying experience in 20 years of it.
This dealer and two others in the area confirmed the ladder-type incentive...Bankston plans to get 110% of their sales goal and their factory-to-dealer money goes up to 3,000. The higher-volume dealer 3 miles from my house in Arlington, TX could not do better than 1,000 over Bankston's deal, because they didn't expect to reach the 110%.
Yeah, I'll drive 40 miles on a Wednesday evening to save $1,000 off an already good deal! Thanks to this forum for helping me know what could be possible.
What's up with your numbers. 26,894 for the car, yet 28,212 out the door. 6.25% texas tax would be over 1600 by itelf. Its over 200 for title, Yet you have only added 1322. Do you have a misprint somewhere?
Question is "Deal or No Deal?" I'm leaning towards the non-NAVI and just getting a good aftermarket one.???
We're in Austin, Texas. I sent out a request for quotes for a 2006 Pilot EX-L w/ RES through AutoBytel. They forwarded it to four nearby dealerships. I received responses from all, but only one actually quoted a price. Because of what I'd been reading on this forum, I wasn't impressed with the offer; but I appreciated a dealership (Gillman in San Antonio) actually providing a number instead of the "call us to talk" line.
In the meantime, I saw that two Houston area dealers names were popping up in the forum as being customer- and deal-friendly: Russell & Smith in Houston and Reliance in Lake Jackson. I left messages with the Internet Sales Manager at each dealer. The R&S manager got back the same day with a great offer, but the car wasn't the color we wanted. Back and forth for a day, and we then agreed on an acceptable alternative: silver EX-L 4WD with RES, out the door price of $30,933 (car price was $28,878.61; balance was sales tax, inspection & title fees, document fees, etc.). Before reaching an agreement I tried to get one or more of the Austin area dealers to get close to this price. Reaction? First, utter (or feigned?) disbelief that the price was real; and then I was told "if that's the deal, you should take it." I guess they make their living selling to people who don't research the price competition or are unwilling to drive three hours to save thousands.
After getting a faxed purchase order confirming the price from R&S, I heard from Reliance, who offered the same car for $500 less. I explained I'd made a committment to R&S, but would be in touch if the deal wasn't all it appeared to be or got flaky. It didn't.
Drove down Saturday to pick up the car. In the meantime, R&S offered a financing deal through Honda Finance that was 2 points better than what I'd arranged. We showed up a bit earlier than we'd told them we'd be there, so the car wasn't ready, but we ate some hot dogs, hung around long enough to sign the paperwork, and drove out as very satisfied customers! Easiest car purchase I've made.
The price may not be the best reported here, but I was very pleased. If you want to find a dealer willing to deal, contact Russell & Smith. (Or Reliance, but since I didn't purchase there I have no experience other than a very pleasant phone call with the sales manager, who seemed to be for real.) By the way, R&S said they pick up customers at the airport, so a round-trip drive isn't required.
Thanks again to all who have passed on information from the consumer's standpoint. It truly changes the nature of the car-buying experience, when a buyer has as much or more information about actual sales prices as the seller. The salespeople that have figured this out deserve our business; those that haven't deserve to lose sales to those who do.
I am looking for this one in D.C area. Does the price include other costs, e.g. doc/reg fee, besides the $550 freight?
Thanks.
Good luck! If they don't have the color you want, try Fairfax Honda-- I was able to get them to come close to that price. The rest of the area dealers (Bill Page Honda in Falls Church, Ken Dixon Honda in Maryland and Koons Honda in Manassas) priced the EX-L way toooo high.
The newer Garmins have voice prompts and live traffic, which the Honda NAV does not. In addition, the updates for the Garmins are much less expensive and each disc will allow you to do two units.
The Honda/Acura navigation units are cool toys (although the RL is the only one I'd buy as it has live traffic), but I do not think the initial cost plus expensive, dealer-installed updates are worth the price.

Will this even matter? I've noticed that folks are still getting $2K-$3K below invoice. Anyone have any insight on any deals in July? thanks!!
The new portable units are leaps and bounds over the 2610's .. and provide the ability to take it on vacations/other cars/etc.. The Honda NAVI does add cool factor though...
I like factory NAV, but I'm really blown away by Garmin's products....nice stuff
Thanks again for posting the great deals at Keenan.
Thanks!
Did you check Sussman, and would you have any reason not to buy there? They will not tell me how long the Pilot has been in inventory.
Before your message, I had already requested (yesterday) an internet quote from Keenan but never received a response. I will try again.
Also has anyone bought from Marty Sussman Honda in PA ? Would you recommend them ? They are quoting $26886 + tax + tags for a 2WD EXL w/ RES ( good price - right ? )
