Thanks. That's what I'm saying. They should be able to do better than $28, 241.96. This is the second quote I have rec'd on the 2WD EX-L w/RES which is higher :( than the first: $28,194. Still wheelin' and dealin'. Thanks to all!

Hey nylaj, I'm also from florida and I have no luck of getting a 4wd EX with NAV here in florida for the price that they get I got an e-mail from honda dealer from jacksonville and they are trying to tell me that they only have $1500 below invoice incentive... :P I'm actually willing to drive for 1 day outside florida for me to save 3 thousand or 2 thousand dollars more. I'll try that dealer from Lake Jackson, Texas, Grand Honda in Chicago and the other one in New Jersey... Let me know about your deals.. Thanks

I'm also in DC. Emailed 6 dealers in Nova today and got 3 very low quotes - Hendrick, Brown, and Koons. (I think Landmark was competitive too, but I got an email saying they didn't have any w/ Navi in stock.) Anyway, Hendrick and Brown were almost identical, but Koons was about $150 lower at $29,067 including destination. I live real close to Hendrick, so got them to essentially match the Koons deal w/ some small freebies. Started w/ some emails after lunch today and I drove the car home tonight. Couldn't have been easier. Much thanks to these boards.

I just picked up my Pilot today from Keenan and everything was as promised. No hidden charges, the vehicle had only 5 miles on it and was exactly what I ordered. The sales rep didn't try to sell any add ons or anything else.

I found out why the deal was so good in talking to him. Honda is giving each dealer a goal of Pilots to sell based on their usual volume. Dealers that beat that # by 10% get a $3000 rebate per vehicle sold instead of $1500. So in order to assure that they meet that goal some dealers are actually taking losses on the last 3 or 4 vehicles they have to sell to get them over the hump, so they don't lose out on the rebates on all of the other cars they've sold. Essentially what this means for the buyer is right now the deals are the best from dealers that have chosen to sell over there limit, as they may sell to you below there costs, to assure they don't lose the increased rebates on all of the other cars they sold. The deadline is June 30th I believe to meet the goals under this current promotion, so deals maybe very good today, but likely prices will move up on July 1 without a new incentive program.

    Hello Everyone,

I've been reading these forums for just a little while now. My wife and I are seriously considering the Pilot. We need to upsize from our Civic after having twins less than three weeks ago. We're looking to buy within a month. I have a couple of questions, in order of priority, and am hoping some of the great folks on this forum can help answer them. We're looking at the EX-L 4WD (no Navi or RES).

    1) I hear mention of incentives in recent posts, like $1500 or $2000 below invoice incentives. However, when I look at the Incentives on Edmunds.com, it says there are none. Am I missing something or are there incentives that Edmunds.com site doesn't catch? Are these incentives nationwide (I live in Northern California, near Sacramento)?

    2) I'm looking to do all my quoting over the internet/phone. My wife and I already test drove the Pilot about two months ago and loved it. To get the best price, do I have to take what is on a dealer's lot? We're hoping to get the Red color, but it seems very hard to find. Will dealers still do trades/orders and give you a rock-bottom price?

I'm targeting $27,500 as the base price right now.

    Thank You

Very good and helpful information bulldog96!! But when it comes to the deadline what they do is extend it especially when there is a long weekend for those dealers that are short of a little more cars. What they do is change the contract date, invoice date and etc. to the end of the month. They would usually reserve invoices for that so don't be fooled.

For us who are shopping for a pilot its a good time for good prices so take advantage of it and who knows they might offer some low interest rates this weekend!

Keep in mind that there are NO honda rebates. You must pay taxes on a rebate. Honda DOES NOT issue rebates. Honda gives dealer cash to the DEALER.

I see that you are a Certified Honda Sales Consultant of some dealership!!

So what are you trying to say that we won't be able to haggle that $3,000 marketing support?!! You have to understand that this is the trend right now in buying new cars and if you are still stuck in the old school you better upgrade your understanding on that because nobody is gonna buy from you.

I don't know this fella, but let's not put words in his mouth. He did not say anything of the sort. He merely stated facts. Its dealer cash, not a customer rebate, and the 2 are treated differently as far as taxes go.

I am going to purchase a Honda Pilot EX-L today most likely from a dealer back east and am trying to have it shipped to Nevada as Nevada cant compete...Dont know if that will work out or not.

I was quoted 26031 for 4x4 EX-L, but $29,000 plus for EX-L with Navigation- I really want NAVI but not at this price when so many of you were quoted 27,228 for 4x4 EX-L with Navigation..Both internet sales managers said the 27,228 was for 2wd's and not the 4x4. Is this true or are deals for $27+ out there for 4x4 EX-L with Navigation out there.

I have to move quick as the $26031 deal expires today.

    Thanks

My thoughts exactly about the additional cost for NAV.
I was told this AM by Keenan that 4WD EX-L with NAV is $28,____ not 27,____, same figures except plus $1,000, so I was wondering whether someone here had made a typo.

Can you tell me how you are having it shipped? When I talked to Open Road, they said I had to come to the dealership and could do nothing long-distance, even paperwork by fax and pick-up myself.

I am still in negotiations with a ton of dealerships- I will update what I find out though-

I know your still in negotiations, but please tell us what dealership offered you the price of $26031, and if it sounded legit.
    Thanks

Open Road Honda. Insta Quote, $27,419 (no dest, TTTF) for 4WD EX-L w/DVD. Why can't we get this in FL? How do I buy this car in NJ and get it down to FL? Is it worth it?

You might be able to get almost identical to that one if you try Duval Honda in Jacksonville they might be able to match it. The problem is the color and they don't have a lot of stock for a 4WD.

Any thoughts on this deal: 28,105 OTD for 2WD EX-L, no RES, no Navi? Thanks!
  • rishipriship Member Posts: 65
If people are going to post out the door prices, then you need to at least post the tax rate. If your tax rate is zero then its not a good price, if its 7% then its a good price.
  • mbox2mbox2 Member Posts: 4
The tax rate is 6.25 percent.
  • dbrosdbros Member Posts: 81
You can get a 4WD EX-L for that price.
  • rishipriship Member Posts: 65
I don't know. I think that's a pretty good price. I paid 28,130 out the door for the same car with same tax rate. That is $3000 below invoice.

There are a few who are getting lower. Mostly from this dealer in Philadelphia. But for most places I think 3000 below invoice is a very good price. The only reason people are getting better is because if dealers meet 110% of teir sales goal, they get a big bonus. So if you can find a dealer at 109%, then you may get him to take a big loss.

6.25%, are you in Texas? If you are in Houston, I'd take it as I talked to most dealers a week ago and that was the best I could get.

Where are you and what dealer?
  • mbox2mbox2 Member Posts: 4
I'm in Houston. The dealer is Goodson. I talked to Reliance in Lake Jackson and they quoted over $29,000 before TTL! When I mentioned that others were paying in the $26,000 range, the salesperson claimed that Honda would never allow a dealer to sell the Pilot in that trim level for that price!!
  • nylajnylaj Member Posts: 24
Can you please clarify "out the door"? My quote is still $28,242 includes destination and fees, does not include tag and taxes. Price with tax: $29934 + tag on top of that. This doesn't sound like a good deal to me but I am no longer sure. 2WD EX-L w/RES. Dealer told me that 4WD would cost me $1100 - $1200 more.
  • rishipriship Member Posts: 65
Goodson West I'm assuming. Goodson North had no interest in competing when I talked to them. Goodson West is good. I've bought a car from them and am happy. I bought this one at Russell Smith who is also good. When I bought 10 days ago, both were giving the same price. Russell Smith had the right color.

With that said, there is an incentive that gives big bonuses if they meet their quota. If they are one or two short they will make a great deal. When I talked to Goodson they said no way will they make it to the quota. Russell smith thought maybe.

I'd call Russell Smith if I were you. Tell them of your offer. See where it goes. If you are ready to by today or at least by the 4th you should get a good deal. In my opionion you already have a good deal though.
  • rishipriship Member Posts: 65
Out the door means the price including all taxes, title fees and anything else. Essentially the amount to write the check for if your paying cash.
  • mbox2mbox2 Member Posts: 4
My deal includes everything: destination charge, tax, title, license, document fee, various state taxes (highway/bridge or something like that, for example).

Thanks for everyone who contributed this board. The information was very helpful. I just bought a 4X4 EX-L today at $26,895 (for a $28,100 OTD total).

My experience in trying to get dealers to provide a quote by email has been very mixed. I used Edmunds.com and Cars.com's to request quotes, only about 50% of the dealers responded at all. Not sure what happened. I then tried each dealer's own website to submit the request which seemed to have immediate responses.

I purchased a 2WD EX-L w/ NAV in Tafetta White from Goodson Honda for $27,900. Looks fantastic!

This included 1) Wheel locks, 2) Rear mud flaps, 3) Cargo Tray, 4) Pin Strips, 5) Cargo Cover, 6) Moonroof Visor, & 7) Cross Bars. 1-4 were already installed while 5-7 were negotiated. OTD was $29,893 (6.25%).

Negotiated via fax, email, & phone. Best car buying experience! Started process on Monday, signed papers Thursday, and drove it home Fri!

Thanks to all the posts here - got a good deal on the 2WD EXL w/ RES for $29000 out-the-door (6% tax). Includes dealer installed package with Wheel locks, Front and Rear mud flaps, Cargo Tray, Pin Stripes and VIN Etching. :)
  • pilotopiloto Member Posts: 9
You got a good deal there...better than Open Road's Instaquote of $26,031 for the EX-L AWD. May I know the dealer that you brought from because I am in NJ and I'm planning to buy soon. Hopefully they will still have the same price this July. Thanks

    Hi
I am in NM. I just get quote for AWD EXL /w RES,with tinting and destination at $28900 in dealer Earnhardt, AZ.
    Is this good deal
After discuss in the detail, I was told, by AZ law, they have to drive 2hour with me to the bord of CA. after get notarization there and pay $200 extra fee, then give me key and let me drive back to AZ. Is this true? too much trouble
anyone have such experience when buy out state?

Hello everyone. I am pleasantly surprised by all the great deals everyone is getting on EX-L's. Congrats to all. I too got a great deal on a EX-L lease last Oct in Los Angeles. I like the Pilot enough that I am considering getting another one. Anyhow, I am curious what's Honda's current special (on Pilot purchase and lease). According to Edmund's Rebate/Incentives page, Honda is offering only a lease special (but nothing great). I am really curious how your dealers can reduce the price to below invoice so much without any rebates or marketing assistance. Please let me know so I know how to approach dealers here. Thanks again everyone.

I just call Reliance in Huston this morning, and get a existing quote:$28179 for new EXL 4wb w RES. Oh, that is about $2000 lower than NM local deal's internet quote.
is this sweet. and similar to NJ dealer offering. NJ is 2000mile away. It is impossible to me.

After a couple phone calls, they will like to pick up me at Huston Airport and arrange deal as smooth as they can. The internet sales is very straight forward. I like, I expect it is happy end.
I would like to move a head to finish this deal, and drive a couple hundred miles.

I would post what happen next.

I have been negotiating with several dealers in North Carolina for an 06 2WD EX-L. Apparently, this car is very rare and only a few exist in the southeast. I have one dealer at $27,991.00 out the door price for the EX-L (with leather). This appears to be one of the best offers I have seen discused in this forum. Does anyone think this price can be beaten? Am I getting ripped off? - I doubt it, but wanted to check around. Has anyone else heard that the 06 2WD Pilot is difficult to find (as opposed to the 4WD, which is all over)? Finally, what small incentives can I get the dealer to offer me (i.e, extras on the car) if he will not come down in price any more.

for 4WD EX-L DVD, I get first quote $28179 from Lake jackson, get confirmation on paper. Since it is seem very fair, I didn't bargain again. And I fly there monday to pickup. ;)

I call Reliance and Goodson West too. Goodson West tell me their bottem line is $2000 below invoice. But I try to let them match with Reliance price, they just do not have any intent.
Is that true you get such deal from goodson? :confuse:

Internet manager and all the staff are great at Reliance, We purchased our Pilot EX w/running boards for $26625 (driveout)there a couple of weeks ago and encountered no surprises, but by far the most competitive and excellent customer service in the Houston area.
    -Pearland TX happy customer! :)

I purchased a Amazon Green 2006 Pilot EX-L on 6.30.06 from Valley Honda in Aurora, Illinois for 25,995.00 plus 130.00 for dealer installed options (mud flaps and pinstriping) for a total of 26,125.00 including destination and excluding TTL. The document fee was 60.00. The 25,995 price was agreed upon over the phone however the salesman failed to inform me it did not include the dealer installed accessories so I had to negotiate from 290.00 down to 130.00. Once arriving at the dealership the cash deal took 3 and 1/2 hours to complete with trade-in. Customer service form the salesman and the manager was below average. Financing customer service was pleasant and quick with no high pressure sales tactics.

Are the Pilot dealer cash incentives still on for July? I have seen the amounts range from 1500 to 3000 (depending on sales target) for June. Can someone help me with this.
I just a had a bad experience here at Sterling Mcall in Kingwood on Friday June 30th. I am looking for the 2wd exl w/navi. Quoted 29500 (inc dest) but they were going to milk me on my trade (Accord)
  • hgbeehgbee Member Posts: 38
I get two answer from NM Local dealer, one told me it is June 30, one is July 5.
But I decided to go to Huston to get mine by Monday. Dealer told me the price is still fine.
  • look4valuelook4value Member Posts: 5
Thanks the incentives must still be on at least until the 5th of July. Does anybody know if Reliance has a good inventory of 2wd exl w/navi Pilots? I am looking for the black with saddle interior.
