Sent out 14 request for quotes to dealers in my area late last night and have received 9 responses. Lowest quote was $26,397 (not including ttl). Appears to be $5,143 under MSRP. Price assumes that I don't finance through Honda (includes the $2,000 incentive).
Anyone else have 07 EX AWD numbers that they can share, or feedback on the number above?
Trying to decide if I pull the trigger this week or wait and try again at the end of May.
Thanks,
Wilson
Any good deals in Seattle Area from recent buyers? And any info on when the 2008 model will be out?
Thanks
Has anyone purchased (or got quoted) an EX-L Pilot w/ Nav with the .9% offer for less than $31,000?
thanks
Apologies for the late reply; been on the phone a bunch trying to clarify all the hidden charges.
(1) PRICING
The $31,400 price without the cash discount is really good. The prices that Joe and I have seen (high $28Ks and low $29Ks) have seen is with the cash discount so that we can make apples to apples comparisons amongst the different dealers.
That plus make sure that the discount off the MSRP is within the target range of $6K to $7K. If you add $2K to our numbers, it puts it squarely in your $31,400 range.
(2) $28,000 PRICE
The dealer that quoted me the $28,800 price was based on cash purchase and included the $2,000 Honda cash rebate. In addition, I found out there the OTD price that was provided today did not add up. I suspect the dealer did not mention the destination charge.
(3) CHICAGO DEALERS
I think the rules of the forum allow me to post the names of the dealers, just not the name of the sales person. Assuming I did not read the rules incorrectly, the dealers are:
- Honda of Isle
- Castle Honda
- Muller Honda
Their prices are all pretty much within range of each other. I wanted the OTD numbers cos each one of them had different dealer prep fees, documentation fees, etc. Still clarifying with a few other dealers that are supposed to get back to me on specific pricing details.
I am sure there are a bunch of other dealers out there that I have not reached. Read in one of the earlier posts that there is a dealer in Wisconsin with fantastic pricing. Since my wife and I travel to Wisconsin to visit family very often, I might check 1 or 2 places out...
Good luck,
Alex
Given that fuel prices are going up again + we are in no hurry to get the Pilot, do you think it makes senses to wait till May?
Reason I ask is because the rebates might go as higher similar last summer, where $7K to $8K discounts off MSRP was seen (I think I read this in the earlier threads).
The downside is that the $2000 rebate or 0.9% financing might disappear at the end of April, which means I will be sleeping on the couch for the rest of 2007...
What are your thoughts on this?
Cheers,
Alex
Anyone do any better and know what I could get with the 3.9% financing for 5 years?
Does anyone know if a dealer will match the 6.35% financing for 5 years I got pre-approved for online by ELOAN and Capital One?
I've heard most dealers won't take those online loans because they are just promissory notes and not real checks.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Love the car - didn't want leather or sunroof, and AWD necessary about 1 day every 2 years.
If you want his price, it looks like you may have to call him.

Was told by every dealer that it would be approx $2K price discount if I wanted a Pilot without the Navigation system.
With regards to better financing, there was an earlier post about 3.7% financing with Capital One. Not sure if it is true or if the rates allows for a 5 year term.
Based on all the numbers I ran, the best option would be to NOT take the cash discount, but to finance with Honda Financing over 3 years. The 0.9% rate is unbelievably low. The down sides are (A) the 0.9% rate is only for a 36 month loan term and (B) the rate jumps up to 3.9% for the 60 month term.
I am going to bite the bullet, tighten my belt and take the higher monthly payments (due to 36 month term vs. 60 month term) now cos it works out much better in our favor with the 0.9% financing rate.
A dealer on another forum indicates that the financing deal may be "coming to an end" this month.
However, my guess, FWIW i.e. nada, is that the rebate will not end, and should sooner or later rise.
Price: $27,418 plus tax, total is $30,000 out the door.
Bought from BOCH Honda in Norwood $27,250 + Dlr. Prep. + Tax/Lic.
One option is to figure out if the new design, features and pricing (i am sure the discount if any off the MSRP will be tiny for the new design) is worth the wait. Worse case scenario, pick a 2007 Pilot in June that may not be the ideal color or options, but I can definitely live with that.
Are you sure about the new orders/redesigned pilot arriving in June?
Cheers!
I've put feelers out there for a few more quotes. I really want to get this below $30k - that's reasonable, right? So, I should call or e-mail the dealers with the lowest prices and say, "Thank you for your quote. We are interested, but this is still above what we have received elsewhere. We'd like to buy from your dealership, though. Is there any room to budge?" For whatever reason, I have no clue on how to handle this...suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks much.

think I'm leaning towards the EX-L 2WD with NAVI and I've got a quote for $30,615 (includes destination, but excludes ttl).

$68 wheel locks
$128 cargo tray
$87 rear splash guards
Please note that (a) most of the dealers I spoke to will include them to me at no extra cost, and (b) you can get genuine honda parts on ebay if you really want to save on the $$
FYI, there are a few of us shopping around for an EX-L AWD with Navigation in the Chicago area.
Quotes appear to be in the $29K range; some slightly below $29K vs. some slightly above $29K vs. some dealers off the charts at $33K. Perhaps there is not much excess inventory in your area, which is why prices are higher.
BTW, this is cash price only, after the $2K honda cash rebate has been applied.
Silver 2006 Pilot EX-L 4WD w/o Navi or RES ~ 16000 miles. Dealer is asking $27750 (this is the listed price before negotiation, etc). Based on the posts that I have read here, I shouldn't be paying more than $24000 OTD (incl. taxes, fees, etc). Realistic or am I stretching too far?
Thanks
The dealers will NOT tell you about the incentive if they don't have to.
See my earlier post, we paid $30K out the door for the same vehicle brand new. Our price was $27,418 including apprearance package, plus 599 doc, 21 title and sales tax at 1,962.
If you're wanting that '06, $24K should do it, but you'll probably have to wait them out.
I will try to get an EX-L with NO NAV or RES for around $27,000 plus ttl (with $2000 rebate applied) in Chicagoland.
What kind of quotes should I go for on a great deal on the same Pilot EX-L (NO NAV or RES) with the Special Financing and NO rebate?
Can you tell me which Chicago area dealer gave you the lowest quote?
Thank you.
So how do I start negotiate now, should I quote my price when I call them. Any info would be appreciated.
Also info on the price paid in NJ would help a lot.
From following the posts, $30k OTD for EX-L AWD is great - you got the same price as post #8876 in Atlanta. The best I've seen is post #8878 out of Mass for $27,250 + TTL. Not sure if they got the "appearance package" though so you and #8876 are tied for best deal behind #8878.
Did you use "Fighting Chance" method? I ordered last night but haven't received it yet. Enjoy your Pilot.
INTERNET SELLING PRICE: $29,583 (incl Dest.)
I started with the Honda website. I e-mailed about 15 dealers asking for a price. First pass, I got a low bid of 30,800 OTD (Out The Door).
I then narrowed it down to the 5 best priced dealers, and then sent them my proposal. I told them I'd pay $30K OTD, and that I was ready to purchase within 24 hours. If they wanted in, they needed to respond within the day.
2 Dealers just bowed out right away. Three said they could do the deal. Two of those couldn't get the specific car I wanted. They seemed to have lots of 2WD in stock, but in ATL, 4WD is harder to find.
Only Team Honda could find the car. I think they had an advantage because they're part of a large dealer network. The others could find cars, but they couldn't get the other dealers to cut them loose.
I handled this all over the web, and only talked to the dealer last Saturday to confirm what I wanted. He found the car and brought it in Monday, and I picked it up last night.
The hardest part was cutting through some dealer BS. One who looked very competitive at first then told me that the OTD price didn't include dealer installed accessories, i.e., the dreaded "Appearance Package" @ $995.00. At that point I simply told that dealer that I had no interest in doing business with him, as he didn't seem to understand "Out The Door".
My advise, FWIW, is to do your research, name your price, be willing to walk away, and STAY OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP AT ALL COSTS. Once you set foot in the dealership, they're in charge. You're in their turf, and they KNOW how to get you to do a deal that's not what you intended when you walked in. That's not a criticism, it's just the fact. It's their job to get you to pay the maximum amount for the car, and it's your job to pay the least.
Next, don't EVER talk trade-in until you've agreed to the price of the car. Get that done, then AND ONLY THEN get a price on your trade. Again, do your research and be willing to walk away. In my deal, I asked then to appraise my 1997 CR-V. I knew what I could get for it in a private sale. They offered about 80-85% of what I wanted, so I simply said "Thanks but no Thanks".
Finally, get your financing straight BEFORE you go into the dealer. Otherwise, you could give away everything you save on the price of the car by agreeing to a bad financing deal. Get your credit report and know your FICO score. Get pre-approved by your bank or credit union before you buy. Dealers make more money on financing than they do on the cars.
I have a question that has been bothering me. I was planning on purchasing an '07 EX-L Pilot w/ NAV for about $31,500 using the .9% financing over 36 months. I was also planning on putting about $12,000 down in order to lower the monthly payments. However when I ran the Edmund's LowRate vs. Cash Back calculator (see link below), it told me to go for the cash. I presume it was telling me to do this because my monthly payments would be less after the cash back + the initial down payment.
http://www.edmunds.com/apps/calc/CalculatorController
My question is what is that sweet spot? I have good credit (700+) , but am unsure what kind of rates I should expect (I think that is the heart of the matter).
I was trying to rush in to purchase this car by the end of this month to get advantage of the .9% financing, but if it really isn't going to be saving me money in the long run, then I figure I might as well wait until the prices come down (in a couple of months) and then purchase the car (when I'll have a more pressing need for it).
Any suggestions or thoughts?
thanks
jon
I am also in the market for 07 Honda Pilot AWD w/ Nav.
Just got a reply from a local dealer in Portland area that
she will give a "special pricing" if there are multiple
people buying. She asked me when I can bring my friends in.
I just spoke to another dealership. He said he'll do the
same. I realize we may have different preferable trim.
After reading through this forum, it sounds like if we can
get $6k-$7k off MSRP will consider good deal, cash purchase.
For those of you who are ready to buy and interested in
teaming up with me to work on Portland area dealerships,
please email me at showmann3004@gmail.com. I hope I did
not violate this forum rule by posting my email.
If you are in neighboring cities and don't mind the drive
to save some money, please email me as well. Let's "help"
local dealer move their cars, in return, we get the best
pricing, $7k off MSRP, preferable more.
Thanks guys,
-s
ps. will post result after purchase
Could you send more information on your financing through CapitalOne - I haven't seen rates below 5.6%. Thanks in advance!
We were also quoted a EX-L 2WD for $26,000 Flat but we opted for the 4WD E-XL for $27,250 + $250 since my wife was able to get color she wanted and to go with that we got the 4WD.. Boch Honda of Norwood Ma. proved to be very aggressive with their pricing as compared to other dealerships in the area.
Has anyone gotten a lower quote in the Chicago area for an EX-L?
Thanks.
Otherwise take the 2,000 and be happy.
The info given in this forum about the last week of the month being the best time to get a great price was right on the money! Today, the 2nd highest quote ($29,072) dealership sent me an unsolicited email saying: "NO REASONABLE PRICE REFUSED - NEED TO MOVE 60 NEW CARS". I asked if he'd match the $27,540 price and he said "DONE". Now, I question whether I could have done better.
I ordered Fighting Chance last night and received today. I used the principals in there & emailed him back and said I appreciated his offer but was calling/emailing a limited number of dealerships to get their final proposals and I promised to let him know prior to final decision which planned to make on Thursday or Friday morning. Then I emailed the other top contenders and told them the same thing. I'll see if there is a frenzy tomorrow and if not, then I'll go get the Pilot on Friday for $27,540.
I'd recommend the Fighting Chance for $35; It's 56 pages and very informative. I got the Consumer Reports Price Guide for $26 and it was about 4 pages and their bottom line was a lot more then the initial quotes that I got from the internet dept. at the dealerships.
Thanks to everyone on this forum for all their advice.

Also - If I get a "blank check" from a finance company like Capital One, that with my down payment will work as cash, right?
Thanks!
Seriously though you know the way they came back to you. Call them and ask can you beat 26995? (offer -2%) I would really like to buy from a local dealer. Can you beat 26775? See what happens and wait a little. You know how to work this. The machine sold for 7000-8000 off MSRP last summer and it wholesales 10k off list 1st year so even for 6600 off they are hardly giving it away. See if you can goose a few of the other standouts. If they are pestering you they are asking to be "abused" so do it. If you are lucky enough to land a dealer that is a few away from a next sales tier target, they may send a driver for you to the dealership and pay you to take it.
Save your money in the future and just go to edmunds.com for the same info. And the dealer websites for specs. As you learned ignore the edmunds TMV (what others are paying) as well as the consumer reports buying #'s as you know that the true quotes in the (auction) market in your area are what matters. Also do bother to read "Don't get taken every time" for the future.

It would appear Cincy prices on Pilot EX-L AWD are actually more economical as my initial high quote was $29,159 + TTL and then the initial lowest was $28,273 + TTL.

Do you mind telling me the name of the dealership that sent you that email? I'm also in the Cincy area and have been getting quotes from numerous dealerships. I'd like to see if it's one of the dealerships that I've received a quote from.
Thanks.

1. With that baseline, what the best realistic deal on 4WD EXL with RES AND the 3.9 for 60 mos + TTL?
2. Is the 27,250 for the 4WD EXL a financed price or cash price?
Looking to understand the best realistic price I'm going to find if I need the 3.9 for 60mos.
Looking to get my price, hit 20 and be done by Saturday. Thanks
27250 is the cash price and probably 28500+ very good with 3.9 but you never know what you can work until the bids come in.

1) gas prices here in Ca are outrageous and i'm thinking that people aren't buying too many SUV's
2) Looks like new model redesign of pilot in 09?? if this is the case i would even expect some discounts on the 08 pilot
3) i'm betting that dealers still have a lot of pilot stock so color and trim choices are still good ?????
4) got my first dealer call today, encouraging me to come in this weekend since April deals are expiring
Is there anyone out there that can tell me if my thinking (betting) rational is flawed. anyone in northern California tell me if in fact the dealers still have pilots in my choice of trim in stock. anyone out there thinking the same thing i am???
thanks in advance
I had been following this forum and good to see that people are getting good deals. Can anyone tell me how much they are being quoted in VA for Pilot EX-L w/RES with special financing ?
The best I got was 30884+ TTL+ processing fees + FRIEGHT AND 0.9% financing or additional 2K off.
That makes it
$ 30884
$ 1100 (tax)
$ 50 (tag)
$ 289 (processing)
$ 595 (frieght)
_____________
$ 32918 (OTD)
I think some of the charges are not legit and the price still does not seem attractive. I'd have to finance and my trade is not worth discussing
Thank you and regards
