One more serious Q...should I be asking for bottom line price Less TTL or? (maybe I should read the other referenced posts first...I'll do that.)
I think you got a pretty good deal there.
Apologies for the late reply; I spent 3 hours at 2 dealers last night. One had a good price (approx $29,500+), but wanted to rip me off for the trade-in. The other had a seemingly good price and decent trade-in value. When I wanted to close the deal, he started adding stuff to the OTD price.
I guess his definition of OUT-THE-DOOR is different from our definition of OTD. He wanted to add wheel locks, rear splash guards and other stuff that they had added to the vehicle (some of which I may actually want).
I suspect that they put it on all vehicles and make it a "option" that is mandatory. The kicker here is that they were charging a super duper ridiculous price for those options. Make sure you ask this form the dealer that promised you the $27,521 price that his OTD is truly what you and I would expect in terms of OTD pricing.
With regards to a lower price, the short answer is "I don't know" cos I have only been asking for Pilots with Navigation. However, the option is supposed to be between $1,800 to $2,200. This means that the price you have is pretty good given the quotes I have gotten for the Pilots with Nav on them.
On an unrelated note, CNN reported that we may soon see $4 per gallon gas prices. I think I will wait till end of May to get my Pilot. My gut tells me the incentives will be better. Then again, I could be completely wrong and in deep doo doo with wifey who wants the Pilot now...
How can I get them to give me their "best" quote before actually going all the way over there and wasting my time???
Thanks
I want to lease a Pilot 2WD EX-L with Navi before the end of the month. Can someone tell me what's the best lease deal I can expect to pay, and which dealership in SoCal? (I'm in North San Diego County).
Honda's website has a $289/month, $1,999 at signing for 36 months on an LX -- but I really want the 2WD EX-L with Navi.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
$28,869.00 Sale Price (MSRP $35,440)
$1,876.49 MN State Sales Tax 6.5%
$451.00 License Plates/Tabs
$90.00 Various Doc Fees
$4.25 Registration Tax
$10.00 Title Transfer
Right around 31,300 OTD. Pretty happy with it overall. Most quotes in MN/WI were in the 32,200 range for an OTD price (29,700 for the vehicle).

Thank for sharing the info. Does this price include $2000 cash rebate or 0.9% financing?
I believe that you can do better than the best quote that you received of $27,822 especially since the month ends after this weekend. I can tell you that is a pain in the butt but if it's worth saving a few bucks WHY NOT....
Good Luck!
We paid:
MSRP: $33,840
Appearance Package:$595 (Mudgaurds, Sunroof deflector, wax)
Less Discount: ($7,017)

Title: 21

At Team Honda in Lithia Springs (Atlanta) GA. PIcked up the car Tuesday Night.
if this is true, then better prices are out there for us until the 08's arrive, also combine with projected $4 gas where i live and i'm assuming better pilot deals are out there

Was quoted a really good deal by Continental Honda and asked to visit them to work out the details.
When I saw them last night, they quoted me $2,000 for my trade-in. Although my vehicle is not in pristine condition, the retail price is ~$10K with a KBB trade-in value of $5,200 for a vehicle rated as "fair condition".
Wow... Although I know the dealers are trying to make a profit, I did not expect this. It was actually quite funny when the salesperson explained that he would call wholesalers to try to get a better price for the trade-in for me. What a load of BS!
END OF THE MONTH!! We need to move another 60 new cars. I need your help!!
No matter what Internet Sale Price you have received to date, don't pass up this opportunity to drive away in your new Honda.

My latest lowest quote is $27,213 with the $2000 rebate applied plus tax, title and license. This does not qualify for the special 0.9 to 3.9%. I got this with A LOT of hard negotiating through the internet and phone the past 2 days. I'm very happy with it. The question is: what happens when I go in tomorrow and try to get what I want on the trade-in?
Buying a new car without a trade-in is much easier than getting a great deal on both the new vehicle AND the trade in. Whew!
Please wish me luck. Thanks and good luck to all of you.
Price paid was $29550 out the door
27450 Base Price + Destination
299 Dealer Documentation Fee
1644 CT Tax
160 DMV Fee
47 Misc (Dont remember what it was)
In addition the sales person threw in Wheel Locks free of charge.
How did I do?
I'm betting that this will continue or better incentives to appear in May. Easy bet to make since my financing will go through in May anyways, anyone out there hear different???
reasons why i think it will continue: dealers have good stock (dealer admitted so), high gas prices in Ca, and New model year coming in 08......
by the way seanloh, how was the pilot inventory at Larry Hopkins?? thanks
I got a call from a dealer today (in response to my solicitation for quotes) who acted like she new nothing about the $2K rebate. Sure enough, when I got to a computer I checked both Honda's site and Edmunds.com and the low financing rates are listed but not the $2K price reduction offer!!! What's up - I thought it was supposed to last through April 30th?
Got my Pilot today. Alas... With the tons of research and pricing shopping I did, my wife decided that she did not want the EX-L AWD with the Navigation system. Guess the current Garmin unit will have to do. *SIGH*
It was $27,400 with the cash discount ($2,000 extra using the 0.9% Honda financing). There wasn't anything extra added to it apart from the minor fees.
The dealer was "Honda on Grand". Pretty good experience dealing with the Internet manager. The 2 things that a person should be aware of are (a) do research on options you want and (b) make sure you know what the market price is for the extended warranty.
They tried to charge $2,100 for the 8yr/120,000 mile when another forum mentioned that the average price is $1,200. They also wanted to charge $100 for the wheel locks, so I guess they are trying to make commissions in other areas.
Good luck happy hunting!

PS: Big thanks to everybody on this forum for all the advice. Car shopping is no longer a huge chore that I detest.
Good afternoon,
I hope your having a great day. I just received this memo from American Honda. It is about an upcoming change in rates on Pilots, Ridgelines, Elements and Odysseys. Please let me know if you have any questions.

We worked with Hendrick Honda in Woodbridge, Va. and they were great. Couldn't have been easier. Out the door price was $29,963 (took the $2k rebate). Love my new Pilot - the navigation system is amazing! Thanks to all for your help!
my email is lad 578 at hotmail dot com.
$2000.00: Manufacturer money from Honda
+$867.61: Dealer holdback (profit)
+$399.95: Doc fee (profit)
=$3267.56: Dealer profit if car is sold at invoice
$29522: Dealer invoice
+$400: Dealer's cost of protection package (according to him)
=$29922: Total dealer cost
$29,922- $3267 = $26,655 (the price at which the dealer neither makes nor loses any money on the deal)
This being said, what is a fair profit for the dealer? I don't expect him to lose money, but I also don't want to fund his whole retirement. I'm thinking $27,155 including the doc fee, leaving him a $500 profit is a fair number for answering a few emails. Any thoughts or corrections to my math??
Va and prince william county tax (3.12%) - $905.23
Processing fee - $399
One year tag and title - $44.50
Out the door - $29,963.73
I'm looking for an EX-L AWD.
Thanks!
They tried to sell me the rust proofing etc, but I denied and they didn't push it. Though, one salesman said that honda no longer covers rust or paint damage in their warranty if it's not inside to out ??? Any suggestions if it is important and what would be a decent price to be paid.
However, rust proofing is a generally worthless product. And, modern cars will rarely rust, unless the paint finish has been damaged. Just pass on these sort of extras..

My feeling is, if you like the car, then accept the situation and move on. Enjoy your new Pilot and get on with life.
