(kathy72 here-changed name) I did get running boards and door guards but those were not part of the orig. price. B/t those and the trade in I was able to neg. further, but not much as the original neg. price was pretty good to begin with. The car also was exactly what I wanted and I was worried someone else was going to buy it. Dealing with several dealers, I knew the local inventory, that was the only one with the combo I wanted within 150-200 miles. If you are within a hundred bucks or so with two dealers check their tax rate...obviously go with the cheaper tax rate OR use that as part of your negotitation for your trade in as your tradein is pre tax. Internet sales the only way to go - Edmunds even states that.
Older cars are in demand since cash for clunkers took so many off the road (for good reason). But many people still want and need a decent, cheap car. That may help you. Best of luck! Keep me posted.

Just came back from our local Honda dealership. Only had one 2010 4WD, EX-L with RES left. He offered us 3000 cash back with 1.9% financing.
34,755 with splash guard and all weather mats. Not sure if it was a good price, but at least he was giving both the incentive and the cash back.

Does anyone have any experience using the Zag network to get a good price, either through Amex, USAA, or Overstock.com?

I am seeing about $4500 off of sticker, which is well below invoice and the truecar truecost.

    thanks in advance.
  • clarence10clarence10 Member Posts: 57
Interesting. I see the same, but will admit, have never heard of this. Would like to hear more as well.
  • semantic2semantic2 Member Posts: 28
all pilots already come with splash guards???? i don't think that is an accessory at least no on honda's website. also i purchased a the same model at McGrath honda for 32550 so I believe you can still do much better unless that is the only dealer by you. hope that helps.

I'm in Baltimore MD and my best e-quote so far for the EX-L 4WD with RES is $31,310 (before taxes, tags, & fees). Sounded like a good deal to me, but it was wayyyy too easy. Does anyone know exactly how much "dealer money" is in play right now. I'm sure the quote includes the $1500 rebate, but if there's more dealer money in play, maybe the price can be better. Anyone had any luck getting the $1500 AND the .9% financing? I know they say you can't have both but one salesman is telling me his dealership is doing WHATEVER it takes to sell cars. I appreciate anyone who has some info letting me know! Thanks!

that price of 31,310 seems good to me. via the zag network(overstock.com), they are showing a price of 31,169, which is 4986 below msrp and almost 2k under invoice. I hope these prices stay good into next month when we plan to buy.
  • oneway1963oneway1963 Member Posts: 6
Thanks J-Dawg. I didn't get the same number as you from ZAG, but it's at least close to what you got (which is encouraging). I wouldn't bet my life that prices will be the same next month. From what I've seen the $1500 ends March 31; but from what I've read, Pilots aren't moving well and they might decide to extend it. What a game car buying is!!!

Had an unpleasant experience last night at the Lisle dealer. Per our email discussions they said they had two vehicles that matched what I wanted (4WD Touring with Navi, only). When I got there, both models had the Rear Entertainment System (RES). And they both had add-ons which raised the price as well. I felt like the initial quote and the disclosure that they had what I was looking for was basically a Bait and Switch tactic to get me in the door.
Furthermore, on my trade in, they came back with a value 2/3 of what KBB or Edmunds TMV valued the car at. This also did not sit well with me, as later they were willing to raise it by $1000, still under what I had expected.

Needless to say, I won't be going back there.

Thanks again for your help, I'll keep you posted as to my final outcome.
  • flipflopperflipflopper Member Posts: 19
That really stinks! Joliet/Plainfield Honda is their dealership too so you'll have to then avoid them as well. Those add ons is where they try to get a lot of their profit back. I am so sorry you this experience. They did have the vehicle I wanted, it did have add ons, they did tell me it did and I negotiated the heck out of those add ons. Trade in, honestly, was awesome. Another dealer didn't even believe me when I told them we bought elsewhere what we were given for the tradein. Good luck. Keep trying...if anything, email them saying this is what I'll pay for the car, this is what I want for trade in can we make a deal, that's what we did, it worked! Maybe it was a slow time when we bought?
  • semantic2semantic2 Member Posts: 28
I didn't find lisle or joliet honda to be very negotiable even though i recieved quotes. they kept saying they stood by their price and would go no further. so for me it ended there. If you decide to purchase and it doesn't have to be in the suburbs i'd suggest McGrath Honda in Chicago because they really gave me a lowball intial offer and / or Honda City because they came in 2nd. but i was not looking for a touring model. if you want i can email you the people i talked with. :) once i made my purchase at McGrath i was in and out in about 2-3 hours waiting for the damn f & i guy.

I got a price of $34,600 for a Touring w/ Nav only from overstock.com. Do you know if this includes destination charges?

I got quoted 36,900(PS HONDA) in New York City and 36,700(GARDENSTATE HONDA) in New Jersey with the special .0% or 1.9% financing. and 35,900 and 35,200 respectively without financing. Can anyone tell me if the price with financing is a good deal?
    Thanks.
  • clarence10clarence10 Member Posts: 57
You can do better. I just got back from Huntington Honda on Long Island from purchasing the same car. Pilot AWD Touring w Nav (Choice is limited). I took the Black on Black.

Got a real good price and also the 1.9% for 60 months.

If your credit is good, you can get the 1.9% rate from a different lender, and still get the $1500 back. your lowest price of $35,200 w 1.9% would be considered good. My Salesperson was great. Very easy going, simple to deal with
  • clarence10clarence10 Member Posts: 57
So my next step after putting my $$$ down on the 2010 Pilot w AWD Touring model is the warranty and options

I never buy an extended warranty. However, with all the electronics involved with these cars, it might be a reason to consider it. They want $1300 for the Repair Master warranty with 7Yrs/85k miles (extra $150 for 100k miles). If you never use the warranty, you get 100% refund.

Does anyone know abou this particular warranty, and is there some better options or pricing I should consider. I know Consumer Reports always recommend not wasting money on this.

    Next questions.

    - Is the passive alarm necessary?
    - How is the Remote Start?

I need to finalize my decision on these components within the next couple of days, so I would like some advise on these.

    Regards,

The salesmen told me that I cannot get the AHFC financing at 1.9% for 60 months with the 35200 price. What other lender is going to give me 1.9%??? The closest one i'm getting is from my municpal credit union @ 3.99%. My credit is top tier.

Did you get yours for around that price with AHFC financing at huntington?

Also do you know if huntington has the silver on black? :)
  • clarence10clarence10 Member Posts: 57
Yes, they got 1.9% for 60 months from another bank. I assume that allows them to get the $1500 cash back from Honda since they did not subsidize with their rate. I was shocked as well. They were very good about working with me. Everyone will tell you that they are giving the best price, hardly any of them are because they know you will ask for more.

I believe they actually have a silver on Black (dont qoute me on that)
  • bubbaboy1bubbaboy1 Member Posts: 3
Got a price yesterday of $35747 (includes$710 destination) plus taxes, etc. Would not allow me to use the 0.9/1.9% promotional financing but got 2.9% through them via another bank. Good deal ??? Touring models with RES that aren't gray or silver seem to be a bit tough to find in my area. 3 dealers had none at all. I'd like dark cherry/beige.
  • frukiofrukio Member Posts: 12
Based on what a sales manager told me, it is $1,500 cash back or 0.9/1.9% APR- not both. Your price of $35,747 is excellent- does it include any other accessories? We were quoted 36k (which includes 1,500 back) for the same model. I'm going to try and do a little better with our quote....I was also told as inventory dwindles, cash back increases to as much as $3,500. So it's a gamble.
  • bubbaboy1bubbaboy1 Member Posts: 3
Glad to hear ... I thought the price was pretty agressive. It was the lowest of 7 quotes and they were the only dealer with the color combo I want. No other accessories. We are in Central NJ. If you want the name of the dealer I can let you know.... very nice to deal with. They had 1 other in I think black/gray. The $3500 sure would be nice but I have a feeling polished metal or silver will be the only choices in my area when that happens. Hubby has polished metal accord so didn't want that at alll.
  • frukiofrukio Member Posts: 12
I would love the name of the dealer- we are actually looking for one with a black/gray combo and my parents are down that way so we can visit them and maybe buy a car?? I am sort of annoyed with the dealer here, as they are offering us very little $$ for our trade.
  • jrabdawgjrabdawg Member Posts: 21
you could always see what carmax will give you to see if the local dealer is offering too little or not.

Ii's Hamilton Honda on Rt130. We requested an online quote and dealt with Phil. We also traded in our 2003 Odyssey. He pulled up Edmunds for us as the used dealer guy was checking out our car (of course we already did that and knew a range that we were willing to do the trade in for). I wasn't thrilled with the first offer, went back with $500 higher and they took it. All in all with the tax savings and the savings to transfer our plates vs new ones, we took the offer. I know we could have probably done $1000 better selling privately but it can be a hassle. They were painless to deal with and the dealership is brand new, beautiful, gives you free oil changes for the life of the car and free unlimited car washes for the life of the car. Also, they are open on Sundays for the oil and car washes. Nice marketing idea ... we'll see how often I use it as we are about 25 min away.

Just got delivery of an AWD EX-L with RES silver with black interior, for 31,612 inc destination charge.
Looking at previous blogs, I guess could have gone with a few hundred dollars more. But very limited availability with limited color options. Couldn't find any tourings at all in our area.
All in all still happy with my deal. Had a very nice experience at the Pohanka Honda in VA.

Using overstock.com I have gotten several good prices on the EX-L I want within about 75 miles of where I live (Northeast PA).

One question, there's currently a 0.9/1.9 financing offer on the EX-L Pilot. (From honda.com below). I know there's currently a $1,500 manufacturer to deal cash incentive. I had 3 dealers tell me yesterday I could take the 1,500 and get a regular financing rate (around 3.9 I think) or not take the 1,500 and get the 0.9/1.9. They're telling me it's an either or option, I can't have both and one actually showed me the incentive sheet where it did say "or". If the 1,500 is manufacturer to dealer, my expectation is that I will get the $1,500 off (because if they're going to deal with me, they're going to pass their savings to me) AND the 1.9% financing.

Any thoughts on this either/or thing?

Overstock is awesome! I found several good quotes through them for the 2010 touring with nav/res...One only 50 miles from here for $35,554, which is a heck of a lot better than what I was quoted ($36,000) at the Honda dealer down the street.

2010 Bali Blue model for $32,760 plus $299 Doc Fee. Tag, title, taxes will add about another $1300 to the cost. Smooth and easy transaction at Steve Bailey Honda. Dealership already has 2011 models on the lot.
  • flipflopperflipflopper Member Posts: 19
Are the 2011 Pilot models even out to dealers yet??? Bali blue may be a hard sell - that's why the price is good - the bali blue may be a decent color just not as desired.

FYI, my friend bought a pilot touring navi 4x4 in san francisco bay area of california today for $35964 K out of the door. a south bay dealership. only their fleet dirctor could give this price

athis include a higher tax of 9.75% in the county he lives in

good luck all, I am hunting myself

I received a quote of $34,500 + tax + fee + tag in Maryland. Is this a good deal?
  • charmagcharmag Member Posts: 4
You should be able to get Invoice - $1500 right now on the 2010's.
  • frukiofrukio Member Posts: 12
You might be able to do a little better. My recent quote if for $35,000 for a 2010 touring, nav + res for 35,000 "out the door" as they say. I don't know how much of a premium the res is but it's likely more than $500.
  • arbysarbys Member Posts: 12
$35k out the door (i.e., all fees and taxes included)?? That seems awseome for the top of the line here (assuming 4WD).
  • frukiofrukio Member Posts: 12
honest. It works out to 2,550 below invoice. I have to pay $75 for my all season mats- LOL. I live in a state with no sales tax...

I paid $34,648 plus tax, other fees for 2010 Honda Pilot ex-l 4wd on Nov,2009
  • wapilot2wapilot2 Member Posts: 2
    It took over 8 HOURS of negotiating in 2 days, but I paid 30,213 -1,500 (instead of 0%), tax 2,813 doc/lic 326 total of $ 31,859 OTD------no accessories. Pilot EX 4x4.
I know in other states they are doing better than that.
There were no more of the Gray w/black in the areas, So I took their last Silver w/black cloth..There are just 5 more in the areas. The EX's are going fast. My deal was with Honda in Auburn, WA.
I was deciding between a Highlander and this... it was 6K more for the Highlander so I went with the Pilot. I already own a 2003 Pilot and am keeping it also.

Doesn't seem to be much competition in southeastern PA. I'm getting the same quote from everyone: $31,814 + taxes, title. Give or take $1! Or maybe it's very competitive and that's a great price...

    Suggestions welcome!

Please tell me where did you buy it from?? Thats really good price. Did you get financed from delear? rate?. I'm getting quote of 27000 for EX 4x2 model in Southern california. Anyone got better price for EX model in Sothern California??
  • oneway1963oneway1963 Member Posts: 6
Well, so far my low quote is $30,600 + tax, title, etc in the Baltimore area. However, my latest quotes have been slowly going higher and it looks like the inventory of 2010 EX-Ls are starting to dwindle, so I plan to make my move next week. These prices are incredibly low. There has to be more $$$ than just the $1500 dealer cash in play. I just wish I knew how much more. If anyone else knows, please chime in.

The 2011 Pilot is now being showcased on the Honda site. Looks like identitical with additional config options.

    for example... EXL w Nav/Bluetooth

Touring appears to be $1500 more then 2010.

hope this is not old news

What would be a "GREAT" deal on a 2010 EX-L FWD w/o RES. If an earlier poster was getting offered 30,600 on EX-L 4WD with RES, would 28,000-28,500 be a realistic number?
  • clarence10clarence10 Member Posts: 57
About to pick up my 2010 Pilot Touring 4WD. Payed $34,445 w 1.9% financing

Is there any chance a 2011 will be remotely close to this price? I assume not.
  • frukiofrukio Member Posts: 12
That looks like a pretty good price...

Tomorrow I get to pick up my 2010 4WD Touring (Nav) with RES for $35,000 including all fees :) Very pleased with that number!

The other dealer that I was also getting bids from was not happy with that number and basically said the dealer I'm buying from it giving me the car at cost.
  • clarence10clarence10 Member Posts: 57
I would say your deal is awesome. Belue TrueCar.com pricing. The best they would do for me on that setup was 36k. I would have gone for it if it was an extra $500. Anyway, I got what I wanted Black/Black and really did not need the RES.

I would highly recommend Huntington Honda. They were very professional, and got me a killer interest rate (1.9%) from a private bank other then Honda.

Hope the 2011 are selling for close to list price to make me feel like I made a great decision here.

    Regards...

You folks on the East Coast seem to be getting some great deals on the 4WD Pilot Touring w/ RES. I live in Southern California and the 4WD Touring with RES is very hard to find. A lot dealers I talked to never stock them. So I have to fly to Northern California to pick one up and they don't budge much on the pricing. I got several quotes and the best one I could get was 36400 for a White and 35900 for a Gray one. Thats without the 1.9% financing and TTL. For a 2WD Tour w/ RES, I got a quote for 35055. One dealer wanted 37900 just for a 4WD Touring, no RES. They try to tell me that the car is so rare, that dealers are selling them for MSRP. I just laughed.

    Hi,

2010 Pilot EX 2WD cloth no other options. (Los Angeles area)

Started off by in inquiring about costco pricing.

    Sticker is $31,441

Price quote is $29,145. plus tl and fees. Invoice which is $28,845 plus $300 which is costco pricing.

incentives are $1500 cash back or 0.9% up to 36 months.

I know pricing should be better than this, but by how much? Edmunds TMV pricing is $27,863 ($1,282 difference).

Also what is "HDAG" on invoice?

    When are 2011 expected?

    Thanks in advance.

oneway1963: Which dealers are you dealing with in the Baltimore area? Who gave you the quote for 30600+TTL? I live near Ellicott Cty. I started this exercise last November but dropped the idea. I'm looking for the 4WD Touring with RES, but am seriously thinking about the EX-L with RES too. Did you consider buying through zag/overstock?
  • mcgongmcgong Member Posts: 5
    Headlight,

I tried Costco too and wasn't happy with their process or the dealers they had. I went through American Express Auto buying program, or you can even just go to AutoNation and search for you car from there..

I know Norm Reeves Honda in Cerritos has 2011's on their lot.
