Sorry. The MSRP for the particular 2005 330ci I am interested in is slightly over $40,000.

A .0020 MF is approximately 4.8%, right? You are saying that the base MF is .0008? That would be a nominal apr less than 2%.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,543
Yes... the MF on coupes is very low.. this is BMW's method of putting incentives on the coupes... They have dealer cash incentives on the sedans, so the MFs are much higher on them...

    I get $491/mo. + tax..
I used the money factor of .0008

I added $625 onto your cap cost for the acq.fee..

If your payment is more than that (you'll have to calculate your local tax), then they are likely marking up your money factor...

    regards,
    kyfdx

P.S... there is no way to get an MF of .0020.. Even if they waive the acq.fee and jack it up the maximum, it only comes to .0015...

    Thank you kyfdx-
Seems like I made a bigger mistake than thought.
    Actually the MSRP is $40,340.
    The negotiated price is $34,000.
    Here are my new calculations-

    -MSRP= $40,340
    -residual @ 54% = $40,340 x 0.54 = $21,783
    -Monthly depreciation fee= (34,000-21,783)/36 = $339
    -Monthly finance charge=(34K + 21,783)x 0.00225= $125.
    -Sales tax(Texas 6.8%)= ($339 + $125 )x .068 = $31.00

    -Total monthy payment = $339 + $125 + $31 = $495.00

Am I correct this time? Note that I have noted the actual MSRP only once to calculate the residual.

I guess this is with $0.00 down payment.

    Thank you again.

    Does not the 330ci have a rebate like the 330i? It's $4200.00.

I am also thinking of leasing. According to kyfdx's calculation it's $500.00(much less than what the dealers are offering like $550).

Have you thought about buying instead? For maybe $625/month we could buy it in 60 months. I am still deciding.

TX sales tax is 6.25%,and you know the new tax law, it can be deducted from your income tax...

Who are you buying from ?

Thanks for correcting the tax rate.
I have been talking to all dealers in the metroplex. Not sure yet who will give me the best deal. I am still trying to make up my mind if to get the 330i or the G35. It's kinda driving me nuts. Both are such excellent cars in their own right.

Only the sedans have the 4200 incentive.

Well good luck, not sure why its so tough a market.I took a drive to Ft Worth today.Came home empty handed..

Without getting into a G discussion, after taking a bath on resale on a Inf product before I swore to never own another, 300hp or not.

We should both go to the same dealer and buy at the same time. That way we can demand a big discount.
  • dl7265dl7265 Member Posts: 1,381
Im for that, actually bring Shipo and kydfx and we can relax in the waiting room and get a killer deal :)

You have this leasing calculation thing down pat..

But, I wouldn't assume your sales tax calculation is correct.. I believe in Texas, you have to pay sales tax on the entire selling price, not on the lease payment... Sorry for the bad news, there..

    regards,
    kyfdx

PS: Also, due at signing would include 1st payment, security deposit and $625 acq.fee...

    Hi all,

I am looking for a dealer who'll lease using the BMWFS base rates. In general, is this something I'll have to negotiate with any BMW dealer or will I be able to get the base numbers from the start at certain dealers? I would prefer to not have to haggle of the financing terms and just over the selling price (and in my case my trade-in value). Any ideas? I am in Indiana, and I've contacted 3 'local' dealers, 3 answered my lease quote request and all 3 padded the base rates for back end profit. I am willing to travel so if you know of any specific dealers let me know. I tried Sam Swope in Louisville, KY through email, but no reply.

    Thanks,

    mabubba

Same boat. all ive tried have padded by at least .004, evidently the sales price is not enough profit.

    Aggghhh!

kyfdx-Thanks. let me see if I know how to put the salex tax for Texas correctly then.

    Here are my new calculations-

    MSRP is $40,340.
    Negotiated price is $34,000.

    -MSRP= $40,340
    -residual @ 54% = $40,340 x 0.54 = $21,783
    -Monthly depreciation fee= (34,000-21,783)/36 = $339
    -Monthly finance charge=(34K + 21,783)x 0.00225= $125.
    -Sales tax(Texas 6.25% of 34,000)= $2125
    -Sales tax per month = $2125/36= $59

    -Total monthy payment = $339 + $125 + $59 = $523

    Is this correct now?

    Thanks.

I'm not positive how they compute the sales tax... but, that has to be pretty close..

I'd say you have to be within $5/mo. with those figures....

Thinking of purchasing a 330xi and would like to know whether this deal is ok.

    Cold Weather
    Automatic
    Leatherette
    Xenon
    =
    $35,700 + ttl

Also, KYFDX, you said you recently drove a 330xi and weren't impressed . . . care to elaborate?

Last question, are there any people over six feet tall who began feeling cramped after several weeks/months in the car - can you tell I've only driven SUV's;)?

    Many thanks.
  • amt7565amt7565 Member Posts: 165
Did you try driving the 330i as well? Was the driving different from the 330xi?
  • dl7265dl7265 Member Posts: 1,381
Well your invoice is $37710.00 the market to dealer support is 4k.So the adjusted invoice is about $33710.00. The range seems to be from about 750 -1500 over. looks like your at 2k.

As for size I am Well under 6'0 and also have a Yukon.I can tell you the 5 feels much more comfortable.. depending on your needs, budget ect..

The 06 appears its going to have a 1700-1800 increase. That is of course speculation, also unknown is the content. I think pricing may be released 03/23 or is it 04/23 ?
    Good luck,
    DL

Thanks, but I forgot to include metallic paint and front and rear floor mats, which bumps up the invoice to about $38,200. Based on your prior post, ($750-1500 over adjusted invoice) I'm assuming this is a fair, but not perfect, deal.

    1) Give us a break and just tell us the MSRP..lol

    2) I have a 325i with sport package and automatic. Don't get me wrong.. the 330xi is still a great car, but it sits about 1.5" higher than mine, and just doesn't handle the same.. I guess I thought it would be faster also, but maybe the extra weight holds it back.. Also, the one I drove was a loaner, so it may have had a lot of regular gas vs. premium.. Don't worry about my impressions, though... I won't be driving yours....

    3) I'm 6'... Even though it is a little harder to get in and out of than an SUV, I find that with the myriad seat adjustments on the power seat, that I have more head and leg room than in any other vehicle... I put my seat all the way back in a lot of vehicles, but not even close to that in the 325i.

The 330i I am interested has 220 miles on it (about 20 of those I drove).

How can I tell if the model is 2004 or 2005? The dealer mentioned 2005, but I want to make sure.

    THanks.

    1) It is on the window sticker

    2) I think the 10th digit of the VIN number signifies the year..

Every piece of paperwork you will sign will have the year on it.. This isn't something dealers screw around with..

    Hello,
I am waiting for my 330ci to arrive sometime in April. I had negotiated a lease but am now looking to purchase the car. I can't seem to find any information regarding the prevailing interest rate (California) on financing the purchase. I heard that some people have gotten 2.9% to 1.9%. Any input would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
  • amt7565amt7565 Member Posts: 165
I would be interested to know also. I am planning to get a 330i. I checked my credit score 2 days ago and seems like I have a very high score, so I am hoping I can get a low interest rate.

For the Infinity G35, they are providing rates from 1.9% to 2.9%.

What's the best I can do on a 3 year/15,000 mile lease? 10% DC tax would apply. Figure it with the minimum down vs. $5000 down. I'm more concerned with keeping the monthly payment as low as possible. I appreciate all of you guys help. Thanks.

    MSRP: $39,370

All: I would enormouly appreciate your insights and any help and guidance you can offer on this.

Kyfdx: I would love to hear your suggestions.

    I have a 2004 X3, and I now want to buy 2005 3-series with the following:

    -BUY (not lease)

    2005 325i w/:
    -auto trans
-alpine white (w/ black or dark grey leatherette)
    -undecided on premium package

    The questions I have are:

    1) for 2005 what is a good/great deal to shoot for a purchase? (I am in San Fran Bay area)

    2) given that 3-series gets a total makeover in 2006 model (available in September '05), should I

    - wait till September when the new redesigned models are available hoping that BMW will make discounts to clear 2005s?

    - buy now,i.e. no meanigful upside to waiting till Sept.?

    - buy 2006 model in Sept as 2005 would have taken a big hit due to depreciation (i.e. 1 yr older model) and due to "obsolesence" of the old 3-series styling?

I would really appreciate your guidance and insights on this matter.

    A couple of points here:

Production has ceased for 2005 3 series sedans, so you are limited to dealer's current stock. The dealers in my area have a fair number on their lots, but it looks like they aren't having any problems selling what they have.

There is currently a $2500 incentive on the 325i, I doubt it will get much better than that.

The 2006 3-series will be available in May, not September.

As far as options are concerned - if your dealer has what you want, go for it. If you wait for the 2006, you won't get as good of a deal if you go with a 2005.

For what it's worth, I just bought a red 325i last week and went through a similar thought process. I'm really happy with the car and I'll definitely give an E90 a hard look when it comes time to replace my other car.

    Good luck!

    1) I'd shoot for about $4500 off MSRP... that will be close to $1000 over cost..

    2) If you are going to get an '05, now is the time... As mjday1972 points out.. the selection will be just about gone in a few more months... So, by the time they increase incentives, you might not find a car you like.

I think the new 325i will be "better", but if you assume a $1500 higher price and $4000 less of a discount.. that is a lot of scratch..

If I was buying, I'd do it now..

Thanks kyfdx and mjday1972 for your prompt and valuable responses!

    >1) I'd shoot for about $4500 off MSRP... that will be close to $1000 over cost..

One question for you, kyfdx: did you suggest $4500 off of the 325i with auto & Prem Pkg pricing or over the 325i with just auto tran??

mjday1972: Congrats on your new 325! As re: $2500 incentive. Should I negotiate a price and then apply this $2500 incentive on top of it?

kyfdx & mjday1972: Here are MSRP and Invoice numbers for 325i w/ and w/o Prem Pkg. I would appreciate if you could suggest the target pricing that I should aim for.

325i Alpine White, Auto Tran: MSRP: $31,270 INVOICE: $28,750.

325i Apline White, Auto Tran, PREM PKG: MSRP: $33,570, INVOICE: $30,845.

Many thanks in advance. Others, please chime in too.

    Regards,

At an MSRP that low, you might not be able to achieve $4500 off MSRP..

Take the invoice price.. add $700-$1200, then subtract the $2500 incentive..

The $2500 is a dealer incentive.. So, make your offer with that already deducted..

IOW, if the invoice is $30,845, your offer would be $30845 + $700 - $2500 = $29,045... for the car that has the MSRP of $33,570... Somewhere between that offer and $29500 should get you a deal.. HOPEFULLY...

Hey let me know if you get the kind of price targets kyfdx suggests. I'm also in the Bay Area and was thinking of going for it, even though I had not really considered the 325i.

A lot of people here suggests leases are better but in the Edmunds calculator, "buy" always comes up better than lease. But they're using a 5-year term with no down payment and like 5.81% APR.

Depends on the Month/Model ,kyfdx will tel you, usually they do either lease or cash. This month for sedans its cash and low MF for coupes.

On the base model with auto only, I try to do an extended drive to see how you like the seats.I prefer the Sport seats or at least the Prem has the adjustable lumbar.I belive the E90 Sport is getting the adjustable seats ala current M3!

That's the strategy I used and I got mine for $29,200 with floor mats. List price on mine was $32,765 and has auto trans, heated and power seats. I initially offered $28,400.

I'm in the Chicago area and the dealer was really easy to negotiate with.

Just got back from trying to lease a stripped car MSRP of $29,995 (yes they do make them!). It was a horrible experience as they offered $27,300, an aquisition fee of 825 and a money factor of .00265 for a 3 year 10k miles per year. I told them no thank you. I am getting really tired of telling these dealers to stop marking up the money factor and aquisition fee. (FYI...58% residual)

$375/mo including 7.75% tax is a fair price for this car with no cap cost reduction right? Your thoughts are appreciated as I want to pull the trigger soon.

Okay.. I get $447 + tax.. Not knowing where you live, I can't be sure if that correlates to $489/mo tax included or not.. You would have to ask your dealer to break it down..

If the tax amounts to $42/mo, then that is a good deal.
