I think NJ tax is 6% on the actual lease payment.. Not positive, but that is what I see on these boards..

    Greetings.

Would you happen to know what interest rate one can expect for purchasing a new car for someone who has credit scores between 770 and 800?

    Thanks.

I've been looking at a 2005 325i w/Sport, heated front seats and aluminum trim. I have the price down to Invoice-2500(marketing support)+750(dealer profit). I don't think it'll be available in december though, they seem to be going fast with the current incentives.

I ordered a 330Ci (after receiving word of the March incentives) which was built by the 17th of this month and is now being shipped to L.A. If it arrives and can be leased to me by the end of April, am I not entitled to the February incentive program which used a .60 residual factor rather than the March program which retained the .0008 MF but decreased the residual by .01? The terms lock for 60 days after the expiration of a particular month. I would save about $ 12/month on a 36mo./36k lease. Do you agree, and do you think the dealer would disagree?
    Thanks again for your input.

Longtime reader, first time poster. But I think I can safely speek for everyone in saying "Thank you" to kyfdx for all the insight.

I have one question though; does the money factor usually vary by bank/finace co, dealer, or brand? Meaning how much variance would there be in MF from BMW to Audi to Infiniti? It is more or less a breakdown of the interest, correct?
  • coby03coby03 Member Posts: 55
    ursamajor,

I also have a 330Ci on order, and it is due to arrive stateside on or about March 28. Should be a week or so from then until it arrives here in Cleveland. I was concerned initially about the lease terms expiring, but there is little chance it won't arrive before the end of April unless there's a shipwreck or other transportation calamity. My situation sounds a little different than yours, however. My order was placed and I got approved through BMW FS in February, therefore the terms of my lease were locked in as of the end of the February program for a sixty day period (i.e.; until end of April). If you placed the order in March and got approved via BMW FS then, you would lock in to the March lease rates for sixty days from the end of March (i.e.; until the end of May). Did you order in February or March? Do you have a production number yet so you can follow it on BMW Owner's Circle?

Did I get a good deal? I've leased a 325i with sport package, automatic, xenon, and black metallic.
The MSRP was around $33600. I put $4000 drive off
and $389 per month with tax included.
(3years/30000miles) Do you think i could do $3000 drive off with same monthly payment?
  • ursamajorursamajor Member Posts: 127
I checked with the salesperson after reviewing my paperwork. The order was placed March 2nd, so the deal is governed by the March incentives. February is behind us. However, should the incentives improve for the month of delivery, like April 1, I would get the benefit of the improved terms. However, the salesperson was not optimistic that incentives would improve, based upon a number of factors. So, I'm OK with the deal I made. I haven't received a VIN # yet. Mine would be shipped by sea through the Panama Canal to Long Beach.

How much would the same deal be in virginia ?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,543
Read the fine print.. $3000 cash down on a 24 month lease.. With no downpayment, you'd add about $135/month, bringing you up to $400/mo.. I can't make out all the fine print, but by the time you finished, I'd guess about $450/mo including tax for a 325i with automatic transmission as the only option...

-Why is it that on Edmunds' site, the TMV (or "what other's are paying")is higher than the invoice price for the 325xi, but lower for the 325i, 330i, and 330xi?? According to what I am reading in this forum, one can expect to pay between $700-1200 over invoice for any of these 3 series sedans. This contradicts Edmunds' "TMV" price for the 325i, 330i, and 330xi, which again are less than invoice.

-In addition, the March cash to dealer rebate (which is not incorporated into either the invoice or the TMV price) is lowest on the 325xi ($1500 vs. $2500, $4200, and $4000 respectively).
-According to the above (including rebates and based on inclusion of the premium package, automatic transmission and heated seats only for all models), this would mean I could purchase a 330xi ($34,337)for only $1779 more than a 325xi ($32,558) after rebates, despite an MRSP price of $6300 more for the 330xi than the 325xi (and invoice price of $5730 more). It also means I could buy a 330i ($32,298) for less than a 325xi ($32,558) after rebates!

-Is the above really true (making the 325xi a terrible deal comparatively speaking), or is it true that no matter which model you buy, expect to pay $700-$1200 above invoice (not counting rebates) and that Edmunds "TMV" price is not correct in relation to the invoice?

Thanks in advance, as this issue has been puzzling me.

First, thanks to all who post here, it has been very helpful in making my purchase.

    Here is the deal:
    new 05 330xi
    premium
    cold wthr
    xenons
    steptronic
    metallic paint- silver

    MSRP 43,795
    Invoice 40,140

    Paid 38,595 + ttl (MSRP -4000 incentive -1200 discount)

Was hoping for $1500 discount, but got $600 more for my trade than I anticipated, so I'm happy with the overall deal. No hard sell. They did not try to hide the "incentive".
As for the car, I love it so far. I'm 6'2" and fit without any problems. Did not compare to 330i, so I can't comment on that comparison. I have to live with Michigan winters, and my wife will drive the car also, so I needed AWD.

I was very close to buying a 05 Infiniti G35x, but there is no local dealer, and that combined with the $4000 incentive got me into the BMW.

BTW, BMWFS was offering a rate of 4.9% over 60months, which I skipped.

    Hope the helps. Thanks again.

TMV represents the average price that people in your area are actually paying for these vehicles. The whole point of listing TMV is to let you know which vehicles people are able to "deal" on.

When you read prices paid in this discussion, remember that you're reading about prices paid all over the country. The price someone pays in California for a certain vehicle may be vastly different than the price another person pays in New Jersey. When you look at TMV, you're looking at prices paid specifically in one area.

Just because the 325xi price may be higher in your area doesn't make it a terrible deal. It may also have better resale value, OR, more importantly, it may be the vehicle that makes you happier than the other three. You'll hear it all over the Forums - First and foremost, buy and drive what you like.

You have to wonder over what period of time that data is collected... For instance, if it includes the last 90 days, it could be way off what you could get this month..

The incentives on the 325xi just started 3 weeks ago...

And, TMV should be incorporating the dealer cash, as that isn't a consumer rebate..

Oh, definitely. It's not updated in "real time," so it's meant to be used as a guide rather than gospel. And, since it represents an average, this means that some informed (and/or lucky) consumers are doing better than that.

I bought a 05 330xi listing at 43,795 and containing premium package, cold package, xenons, BMW assist, steptronic and metallic paint for $36,950. I bought the extended maintenance from 50,000-100,000 miles for $650 which I understand to be about a $335 discount. Floor mats thrown in. Traded a TSX 04 with 29,000 miles for $20,100 (middle of three dealers offers for the TSX). Dealer was Faulkner BMW in Lancaster. The entire negotiation took 40 minutes. I also shopped Sun Motor in Mechanicsburg; their price was several hundred more, trade in offer $100 less and they quoted the extended maintenance as listing at $1395 which is don't think is accurate. I think is is $985. The Sun Motor price was still quite competitive from what I have seen on these boards but I felt far more comfortable with Faulkner.

Could someone please confirm the acq fee for leases in New York? One dealer is telling me $1000. Tks.

Thanks everyone for your posts- they have been helpful in getting me some idea of what I should be paying.

I am about to lease a 2005 BMW330cic for 36 months with the following specs:
    Jet Black (non-metallic)
    Automatic Transmission
    Heated Seats
    Xenon Headlights
    Sport Package

The MSRP on this vehicle is $48,675
The dealer is charging me $46,875

He is asking for $2,298 down (this is supposed to be $0 down but that includes first payment, bank fee and registration fees as far as I know) and the monthly payment would be $607 (including NY state tax). This sounds like a real good deal to me but I'm not sure- the dealer I bought my current vehicle from quoted me at $693 which seems outrageous by comparison. Does anyone have any thoughts?

    thanks!

You don't say how many miles/year your lease is for...

    The $2298 looks correct..
    $607 1st payment
    $650 security deposit
    $900 acquisition fee

Which leaves a little left over for registration fees.

If it is a 12K/yr lease, that would be a payment of about $567 + tax..

Without the breakdown of the upfront money, and knowing exactly what term/mileage you have, it is hard to give you an exact number, but your lease deal looks pretty good... I'd wrap it up before April 1st... I can't tell the future, but last year the convertible lease deals got worse in April..

    Hello all.

Doing a little research for my neighbor (just ordered 545ia on Sat. for myself through Euro. Delv.) and I've got the MF's and residuals for March 3 Series but I'm seeing reference on other postings of "incentives." Is there actual manufacturer money back on any models?

I've checked the incentive section of New Cars and I'm not seing it but sometimes, its not the most up to date.

    Any info?? thanks
  • virtualbmwvirtualbmw Member Posts: 86
    a comparably equipped 2006 325 is $150 more MSRP. Same for a 330 is $100 less.

Certainly, the incentive is in place on the '05's making them a great value but BMW keeps the segment dominator the same price.....let the domination continue.

Kyfdx -- thanks for your previous feedback. I am moving along and have been contacting dealers (and will bring a friend if they are able to locate a 330xi in the specific color(s) I want). I'll probably post in the forum to check and see if the price is reasonable, though!

Kenyon -- Is there a person in particular who you dealt with at Faulkner BMW in Lancaster and recommend? I'm about 2 hours away from Lancaster and would certainly be willing to drive there if I could get a good deal.

    Thanks!

    Simple Question:
Given current incentives and market knowledge of 3 series lease deals expiring in March, what do you think is the best "value" out there for a 3 yr/12K mi lease with no cap reduction? In other words, what is the best car for the money and what should I pay for it?

    Many thanks for your input.

They aren't consumer rebates, they are BMW to dealer incentives..

    $2500 on 325i
    $1500 on 325xi
    $4200 on 330i
    $4000 on 330xi

Do you mean BMWs? Or the whole market?

The lease deals on 3-series sedans aren't that compelling, compared to financing, as the incentives are all on the selling price..

For BMWs in general, the best lease deals are on the 5-series and the X3 3.0... and the 3-series coupes and convertibles...

The outgoing 2005 A4 had some good deals last month, but not sure if they are still running them.. (Not the new 2005.5 model).

Saab, as usual, has a ton of leasing incentives on the 9-3 and the 9-2X...

Haven't seen anything compelling in the entry-luxury market other than that...

Thanks for the info ... Yes, I was referring just to BMWs, and primarily 3 series leases. Just trying to figure out if there are any "double dipping" incentive opportunities out there like a 330XI with $4K incentive plus special lease factors.

    36 mo/15k mi – 53% Residual Value – Money Factor .00210 Base Rate

Add 2% to residual for 12K/yr.

Great deal.. About $7K off MSRP at that price, if using the base lease rates.. Maybe $1000 over dealer cost..

If it turns out to be exactly this deal... 3yr/45K lease with that amount upfront and all taxes and registration included... then you better grab it before the end of the month...

    2005 330i MSRP $39,000
    automatic
    sports package
    alarm system
    36months/12k per year
1 prepay of $17,250 everything included!
works out to $480/month tax included

    '05 330xi

    $43,695 MSRP
$37,070 Selling price (nice round number)
    $37,695 CAP cost (selling price + $625 acq.fee)
    3yr/36K lease
    55% Residual
    .0021 Money factor

    Payment = $510/mo + tax

Due at signing = 1st pymt, security deposit, Title/license.. Approx $1300-$1400 total.

This represents about $1000-$1200 over dealer cost, considering the $4000 BMW-to-dealer incentive on this model.

KYfdx. this is my calc(based on amt7565 method) . I am getting a different payment than you not including taxes.

    MSRP = 40,545
    negotiated 38,200
    residual @59% = 40,545 x .59 = 23,291.55
    monthly dep = (38,200 - 23,291.55)/36 = 414.12
    monthly finance=(38,200 +23,291.55)*.0008 =49.19
    414.12+49.19=463.31 before taxes

is my calc correct? if not what am i doing wrong?

Slight change of my preference. Didn't really like the steel blue metallic with gray leather. Instead made a deal for orient blue metallic w/sand leather interior. Packages were slightly different. But the did agree to cut me a check for $700 to pay off last 2 months of my current I35.

    300i
    Orient Blue Metallic
    Premium Pkg
    Cold Weather Pkg
    Automatic
    Xenon lights
    MSRP - $41350

Due at signing $2203 (first, security, fees)
    Taxes (8.75%) rolled into payment
    $547.50/month.

I pick it up Monday. Not quite as good as the previous, but i like the color combo much better. Oh well...

Again, special thanks to this board and especially KYFDX for the assistance.
