I just placed an order for a '06 325xi with:
    - Cold Weather
    - Premium Package
    - Metallic Paint
    - Navigation
    - Comfort Access
    - Auto Transmission
The price they gave me is $39,360.00 plus TTL. Total OTD price: $40,080.00. This seemed to be WAY below MSRP, I was also told the vehicle would be ready for delivery in late October. With what I read in your post the production will be swamped in September. Has anyone else been quoted a similar price and/or delivery date for the xi??

Looks like a $2100+ discount (5%) on a special order, pre-production, limited-availability car.... definitely an excellent deal.

There are only a few cars (literally a few) that just got on a ship from Germany. The rest so far are in production. Figure about 3 weeks from port to port/carrier, plus however long it takes to get from the port to your particular dealer.

I just got an offer for a '05 330 convertible demo with 1200 miles. It has:

    - performance pkg
    - auto tranny
    - xenon
    - metallic paint

Is $48,600 + tax, title & license a good price? MSRP is $51,445. The vehicle is in Colorado.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Thanks for the quick reply. Seems like a good deal to me as well. Do you know what the production rates (actual vehicle assembly) are for a special order? It sounds to me like the '06 325xi's are pretty much all pre-sold. I've read about people ordering them as far back as January. Hope I'm not waiting until December for the car to arrive!

    - premiuim pkg
    -Auto Transmission
    -Heated Seats
    -Nav
    -Comfort Access
    -Park Distance Control
The MSRP was $48,846 and i am getting it for $46,726(including destination and tax). Is this a good offer?

Thanks in advance for your advice

The MSRP is $48,846? I've never seen a BMW sticker end in -6-..

If that is indeed the MSRP, then $46,726 including IN state tax would indeed be a great deal...

Has anyone heard of getting a VIN of the vehicle you've ordered and having the ability to track the status as it goes through production and shipping?
  • davidd3davidd3 Member Posts: 582
Yes, you can do that online through the Owners' Circle at bmwusa.com.

Sorry if this is a basic question, but the configuration I want for a 2006 330i has to be custom ordered (the new CA is apparently not even on the lot yet). How is the best way to negotiate a lease price for this car since it would have to be ordered direct from BMW?

Does it matter at this point what dealer i use, since the MSRP of the car is going to be identical for anyone who orders it?

Also, I was told that a 36 month lease is the best value right now, even though i was willing to go a little longer (42 or 47 months) Can anyone confirm that a 36 month lease is the best option?

    Thanks for any help.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 268,023
The 36 month lease is usually the best bet on a BMW...

It matters greatly who you order from... The lease price is very dependent on the selling price that you negotiate... The lower the selling price, the lower the lease payment, all else being equal...

So, you definitely want to shop around...

Our 06 325i in red with beige leatherette and automatic (married, one of those compromise deals) will be in next week.

Had to do a dealer trade and got $500 off. We wanted the sports package but nothing was available in a timely manner in a doable color.

We contacted several dealerships and almost all of them were very professional and competent. A few of them were trying to get $1k to $2k over MSRP.

    Why the rush?

Two weeks ago we sold our 03 Nissan Murano and ordered and ordered a loaded out 06 Jetta TDI which won't be in until November.

Four days ago we totaled our 04 Accourd Coupe V6 MT6. A full-size pickup truck ran a red light at full speed and we t-boned it. No injuries but the car is toast(tear).

Volkswagen buy experience was awful. BMW pretty good except 325i's are quite scarce!

It's been so difficult to get a good deal on the new 325 in SoCal....but I just got quoted for the 2006 325i w/ Premium, Auto, Metalic paint. 36 months, $1500 drive off, 12k miles per year, $499+tax per month...do you think it's a good deal or not?
    Please advise.

Absolutely doable as you give the dealer $1,385 profit for the deal. Try to negotiate from the invoice price up and decide how much profit you want to give to the dealer. You may even try to negotiate for $1,000 above invoice depending on where you live.

it's $36,320 which includes the $695 destination charge....
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 268,023
That is maybe $1100 off MSRP, with the security deposit waived, and the acquisition fee included in the $1500 drive-off..

    Assuming the base rates...

Considering that the 3-series lease program is not that strong to begin with, that isn't a bad price, on a fairly low-MSRP unit...

You might be able to negotiate another $10-$20 per month lower, at most..

Since I can't really afford to purchase a BMW, I'm thinking about leasing. However, I noticed that they want a crapload of money down. Are they stringent on this or is it negotiable?

I also have a trade-in that I'm upside down on (2002 Camaro Z28). I've had it for sale for 2 months. Is there any chance that dealers vary on how much they will give you on your trade? Seems like the dealerships I have dealt with in the past all seem to have the same playbook. They rarely vary in their offers by more than $200-300.

    Thanks

    Hi!
I've narrowed down the "short list" between a 325i and an Audi A4 and I'm trying to compare the lease deals. For the BMW, I configured a 2006 325i with an MSRP of $36,770. I live in NJ.
Can you tell me what I might expect to get off MSRP, what the money factor and residual might be, and finally, what the pre tax monthly payment might be (no cap cost reduction, 36 months, 15,000 mi/year.) ?
    Thank you!!!

    Regards,

Leasing is just an alternative means of financing.. Though the monthly payment may be lower, the actual cost of owning and operating the vehicle is the same.. A good rule of thumb: If you can't afford to buy it, you can't afford to lease it.

Most dealerships price trade-ins according to what they are bringing at auction.. That is why you see similar offers.... they are reading the same auction reports... That is what your car is actually worth to them, and it is doubtful you'll be able to get much more than that..

If you are upside down, you are usually better off to keep the car, and make payments until that is no longer the case.. If you haven't been able to sell your car yourself in two months, then you are likely asking too much.

As to your first question.... Most leases can be structured with little or no money down... Of course, that will mean a larger monthly payment than a lease with a large downpayment.

06 325i w/premium, cold weather, auto transmission and Satellite radio prep for $2,000 off MSRP at $34,770. Is this a good buy?

Prefer to have comfort access and need to have a car latest by end of Oct. Is a 06 330i w/premium, cold weather, auto transmission and Satellite radio prep worth the wait for $1350 off MSRP at $41,470 with 330i upgrade? :confuse:

Appreciate advice so that can proceed with first BMW purchase

    Thanks

I can't keep the car because the seat is killing my back. Plus I have pesonal reasons for wanting rid of it. I bought it at a bad point in my life and every time I look at it, I'm reminded of it. Sorry for the psycho-babble.

I worded it wrong when I said I can't afford the 325. I should have said that the monthly payments of a purchase were more than I wanted to spend, especially when I can't put anything down on it. I don't want to take out a 6 year loan. A 3 year lease would be good because I usually get sick of a car in that amount of time anyway.

    Thanks

Congratulations, that is a great price! It is only $250 above dealer invoice and there is no manufacturer's hold-back on BMWs.

Let me make a comparison to the deal I just cut. We are getting the identical car: 2006 E90 330i w/ Premium, ZSP and heated seated ($41,770 MSRP). The car has about 500 demo miles. I was offered $39,487 and I thought I got a great deal until I read your offer

One difference is my situation is that I am trading-in two cars to purchase the E90. Well, they have to make their money somewhere. ;)
If I had custom ordered a car the dealer would have only knocked about $500 off the MSRP.

I am about to purchase/place an order for a 2006 300i. With the options I have selected the MSRP is $45,515; invoice price is $41,705. When negotiating price with dealers, what % discount from MSRP should I be able to negotiate? Any tips on negotiating price? I plan on paying cash for the car, no trade in.

    Thanks

Ok, here is what i have:

2006 330i Sparkling Graphite Metallic/Beige interior with poplar or wood trim
    Automatic transmission
    Comfort Access
    Satellite Radio

MSRP of $39,545.00 Sale Priced at $38,795.00

    Lease: 36 months/12k miles

$832 downpayment for a monthly payment of $601 + tax

Does this look like a good deal? Should I try to negotiate lower? Does it matter if I lease or buy? Thanks.

Does anyone know the BMW number that will tell you the status of your order? I'm using the owners circle web site and am tracking that way but I've read about a number you can call and use the VIN or production number to access the status. Also... just ordered a 325xi (Cold Weather - Premium Package - Metallic Paint - Navigation - Comfort Access - Auto Transmission) and was told by the dealer to expect it mid to late October. What are the chances of that?

I just priced a 2005 330ci on Edmunds. The MSRP with my options was $46,770; the dealer invoice was $42,855;and, the TMV was $41,695? Is Edmunds wrong or is there a dealer incentive on the "old" 330ci's?
  • calif65gmcalif65gm Member Posts: 75
    Tel # 800-831-1117

Late Oct. is more realistic. Mid-Oct. means the car is probably already on a ship. Also are you on the East or West coast?
  • yeti4yeti4 Member Posts: 11
Thanks for the info calif65! I'm on the east coast - NC. Just checked the status of the order and it's still.... "on order". How long will it be "on order" and how long is the production process? I placed the order last Tuesday (13 Sept).
  • matwagsmatwags Member Posts: 21
Click on "incentives", just below the TMV. You will see that there is 3800 cash to dealer incentive until 9/30/05.

    a) $750 off MSRP isn't much of a discount, though that may be the going rate in your area...

    b) It looks as though they may be bumping up the money factor a little.. maybe by .0002

    c) It doesn't look as though you are making a security deposit.. If you make the deposit, it will lower the money factor by .00015 and lower the payment by $10/mo..

At that sale price, I'd add a security deposit to your $832 of upfront money, but if they use the base rates, the payment should be $574/mo. + tax.. assuming the $625 acq.fee is rolled into the cap cost..

    1) Does that payment include tax?

    2) Again, I'd make a security deposit, instead of paying the higher MF

    3) Other than a deposit, you should put as little upfront as possible...

    4) Is $35,187 the purchase price? Or, the cap cost including the acquisition fee?

    kyfdx - some changes....

    Answers to your follow-up questions:

    1) Does that payment include tax? YES
    2) Is $35,187 the purchase price? Or, the cap cost including the acquisition fee?
Answer: does not include the acquisition fee

    Here's the scenario again:
    2006 325i
    Titanium Sliver / Gray Leather
    Premium Package
    Automatic Transmission
Satellite Radio. ( I don't care much for the radio)

    36 month lease
    15,000 mi/year
    $868.13 drive off (I can offer more - should I ?)
    $561.64 monthly (includes tax)
    MSRP is $36,840.00
Cap cost or purchase price is $35,187.00. (without the acquisition fee)

He says that if I add the Navigation system - it will increase the payment by $30/month.

Is this good? How much more should I be able to negotiate. I can put $3k-$5k down if needed.

    thanks!
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 268,023
It looks pretty good.. the only change I would make, is to make the $600 security deposit.. That should take about $9/mo. off the payment, and you'll get the deposit back at the end of the lease..

For $30/mo, I wouldn't want NAV... (just my opinion).

No need to put more money down.. It looks like your upfront money is just the 1st payment + title/license fees.... other than a security deposit, that is just the way you want it..

Is it possible to get Xenon without the adaptive part? Also what do you think of the adaptive Xenon.. is it worth the $800? I've already ordered the 2006 325xi, but am scrambling to decide whether or not to add the Xenon's while it's still in the "Your vehicle is scheduled for production" mode..... :confuse:
  • bdr127bdr127 Member Posts: 950
The xenons come with the adaptive feature... there is no separating the two.

I personally love xenon headlights. Anytime I ride with someone without them, I always have to ask if their headlights are on, because regular lights just don't light up the road as well.
  • yeti4yeti4 Member Posts: 11
Thanks for the reply. My current vehicle has Xenon and I agree - they light up road to almost daylight intensity. Just not too sure about the adaptive part. Has anyone had issues with the adaptive portion? I'll probably go with them though, the vehicle should be getting to the production phase soon and I don't want to delay it!!

    2006 325xi with
    - Cold Weather

    - Navigation

    - Automatic Transmission

I placed an order after I received a price of $39,360.00 before tax with OTD price of $41,000.80. I thought it was a good deal until I looked at a posting with the invoice pricing and it appears I'm $1855 over invoice (I think...). I still paid below MSRP but it seems most are getting $1000 over invoice. What do you think?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 268,023
I didn't mean to imply that it should be cheaper... If you are adding an $1800 option, then $30/mo. is about right for a lease..
