I just received a quote of a money factor of .0025 from BMW Finance. .0025= 6% apr on your money. .0029 seems too high. However, when you go with the lower money factor they require a security deposit. They said they can waive the security deposit if you go with a higher MF, eg. .00265. (to get apr multiply the Money factory by 2400.) Thats where i would start with your lease deal...Then when you get the MF taken care of try to get a lower price. Deal with the price they give you not the lease payment. Also, dont tell them you need the car by a certain date, keep as many facts private as possible and only tell them the relevant info.

    good luck.

I have put a deposit on a 06 330i with: Premium, Sport, Heated Seats, Sat. Prep. MSRP 41,845.
Dealer price: 38,525. I think I am getting a great deal. Can you confirm? I am purchasing and putting 6500 down. Do you think that is why i got a good price? I am nervous about buying my first car and would like approval of my decision to go forward with this deal.

I'm glad I shopped around. I sent out emails to all southern Ohio dealers and got this deal all over email and phone. Much easier. I almost got a demo with 1500 miles at a close by dealer but I looked around for a new one and this dealer beat the demo price by $200 on a new vehicle. I have to drive 1hour and 20 minutes to get it but i think it is worth it to get that new car smell.

    Thank you very much.

You got absolutely a great deal with $3,320 below MSRP. Just make sure there will no hidden charges when you sign the deal. Congratulations!

BTW. I am in central OH, may I ask which dealer you used?

I apologize in advance if this has been answered, however I would like to know the base BFS lease rates for a 2006 330i. For 36 months (Both 12k and 15k per year) for September. I am looking at a lease and have received a quote with a .0027 factor (with $750 Security Deposit), 15k per year and would like to make sure where I stand with this dealer. Any information would be greatly appreciated. kjw

    '06 330i

    36 mo/15k mi – 60% Residual Value – Money Factor .00250 Base Rate

    Residual is 62% for 12K mi./yr.

    kyfdx,

Thanks so much. It appears that my rate is not good, particularly considering that a security deposit is involved. By the way, do you have the rate for 12,000 miles for the same vehicle. Thanks, kjw

Thanks for the quick responce. Can you tell me how much my payment would drop if the base rate were used instead of the .0027 - here are the details.

2006 330i (Prem, Sport, other options)

    MSRP - 44440
    Residual - 62%
    MF - .00270
    Acq Fee - $825
    Lic Fee - $21
    Title Fee - $18
    Doc Fee - $399
    Tax Rate - 7%
    Term - 36 months
    Sec Deposit - $750
    Price - 43551.20
    Net Cap Cost - 44376.20
    Payment - 707.84 (Includes Tax)
    Init Pmt - 1923.77
    Miles - 15,000

Hope that is everything - once again if Base Money Factor were used how much the payment would be? I know the fees are not good but I can work on those. Thanks, kjw

    Dude,
Your residual is wrong for 15k/year (should be 60%). Also, in addition to your marked up mf rate, your acquisition fee is marked up from $625. I don't think your selling price is a good deal either (only $900 off msrp?). Could do much better.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,275
    The difference is $14-$15/mo.+ tax...

But, I agree with petesamprs.. You have more problems than just the rate... $900 off MSRP with a $400 doc fee, means you are only getting $500 off MSRP... and a marked up acquisition fee as well...

A decent deal? Drop the $400 doc fee... That drops your upfront payment to around $1500....

Then, a selling price of $43K with an acq.fee of $625 .. cap cost = $43,625.. then .0025 for the money factor...

That should knock the payment down to about $668/mo. tax included..

That would be a fair deal... .and still an easy $2000 profit for the dealer..

I am in the process of purchasing an '06 330i. Would it impact my ability to negotiate the price down if I tell the dealer that I plan on paying cash and not financing? Or, would that work against me?

I hope to get between $1,500 - $2,000 off MSRP. Is that reasonable in South Florida?
  • jaggjagg Member Posts: 21
I'm only at $750 off MSRP in South Florida (Ft. Laud Imports), but this is for a lease that had to be ordered. I don't know if you can better deals on a purchase.
  • jaggjagg Member Posts: 21
Thanks so much for your reply kyfdx!

    In response:

    a) I'm going to try to negotiate a better discount

    b) I guess i should ask what the money factor is?

    c) I'll also ask about a security deposit

If i can get this at $574/mo i'll take the deal. Thanks again.

i noticed a $300 price increase on the new330i..the msrp before was $36995 including destination charge,, and now on bmw website and even edmunds show the msrp of $37295. so does the new price increase apply to the cars which will be ordered from now on or it apply to all the cars. the cars on the dealers lot still show the old price? HELP?

Cars that arrived at port after September 1st all have the price increase... any car without the price increase was on the way to the dealer prior to September 1st...

What's your CA Sales Tax rate?

Figure about $350-450 for Lic. and another $45 for Doc Fees in CA.

Some people have gotten high 3-figures to about $1500 over invoice. However it all depends on where you're located. Apparently not many deals being made in S. CA from reading the various sites.

    Good luck.

I am about to purchase/place an order for a 2006 300i. With the options I have selected the MSRP is $45,515; invoice price is $41,705. I am located in Northern Virginia. I have an offer from one dealer for $43,930 (MSRP less $1,585). This is about a 3.5% discount from MSRP. I plan on paying cash. Is this a fair offer or can I do better?

    Thanks for your help.
  • amiramir Member Posts: 115
based on your cars invoice and msrp. i would say that $42900 is what you should be paying for that car and that is what most people r paying.

    Hello,
I have a chance to buy a 2003 BMW 330i, with performance package, moonroof, black leather, xenon, HK audio, 25k miles, 6sp manual, mint car but had DME & coils replaced (common ZHP problem) for $26,800. Original window sticker MSRP was $43,100. Is this a good price?

    Hi,
I am buying a 330i with the following options:
    -Prem Pkg
    -Nav
    -Heated Front seats
    -auto
-Rear deck spoiler, sat prep and all weather mats.
The MSRP of this car is $46100(tax) and i am getting it for $44100.
    Is this a good deal?

    Thanks in advance

Hey that's my car. I have silver-gray and gray leather but otherwise that's mine. Did you check the car in Edmunds and KBB? If it's under KBB and Edmunds then it's a fine deal. If it's at those two, I'd say push for more off the price.

BTW, the ignition coils are a common problem. Also, ask the owner if he ever gets the 4000 rpm engine stutter. You can usually find it in 2nd and 3rd on WOT. I can't reproduce mine all the time but it's always waiting to bite me and make my passengers say, "What the heck was that?!"

    I have the following offer for a 3 year/12k mile lease on a 2006 330i:

    $42020 (MSRP)
    $38100 (Invoice)
$40457 (Net Cap Cost, inc. $825 Acq. Fee)
    62% Residual
    .0029 (MF)
    $631.50 (Monthly Payment)
    $1131.56 (Inception=1st Month + TTL)
No Sec.Deposit (Already in a BMW lease)

I've told the dealer that I know the MF is marked up from .0025 and the Acq Fee should be $625. This is $1536 below MSRP or $2357 above invoice. I have offered $1500 above invoice with the base buy rate. Dealer will not budge. Other than "keep shopping" any thoughts or advice on how to try and make this deal work?
  • blueguydotcomblueguydotcom Member Posts: 6,249
Keep shopping. 0.0004 extra on a lease is ridiculous. That's a big jump in your lease payment - from 6% to 7% or over $1000 extra. They're not giving you 1500 off on the purchase, they're just screwing you on the payment to make up for the money off.

Does anyone have an accurate interest rate number for BMW finance. The online payment estimator puts the rate at 6.55% for excellent credit, but my dealer told me it was absolutely set at 6.99% for 3 series purchases. I find this strange as they have not run my credit yet.

Also, does anyone have any experience (good or bad) using a service like eloan for their purchase. They have a rate of 5.25% which I've been approved for and well there is an obvious differenece between that and the 6.99 that my sales person is insisting on.

    Thanks.

I just wanted to give some good press to a dealer in the Boston area. I have been shopping for several weeks trying to get a good price on a basic 330i manual, w/graphite, and black leather. MSRP of $39,220 with the price increase, $38,920 without the increase. I tried all of the dealers in the Boston metro area trying to get a good price, with no luck. Finally, I tried BMW of Newport, RI. I sent an email with an offer of $1040 (3%) over invoice for a price of $36,670 before TTL incl. destination. I got a phone call the next day, and they accepted my offer within less than 10 minutes of phone conversation. It was easily the most hassle free I have ever bought a car. No hidden or unreasonable fees either. If you are in the market for a new 3 series in the Boston area, and don't mind driving 70-80 miles, give these guys a try.

I haven't done the paperwork yet, but I applied online at bmwusa.com and was approved for 6.4% for 60 mths. My credit score is 760+.

What's interesting is that I applied at a credit union and the rate was actually higher than the 6.4% from BMW Finance. I've read other people getting somewhere in the 5's through BMW. I plan to negotiate it when I go in to do the paperwork in a couple of weeks.
  • blueguydotcomblueguydotcom Member Posts: 6,249
    http://capitaloneautofinance.com/Public/Home/Default.aspx

Capital One has 5.25% for 60 months. Check around for local credit unions too as they tend to be low. lastly if you have a heloc that's at 6-7% you can deduct the interest.

I just ordered a 330i. I ended up getting $1,800 off MSRP plus a dealer fee of $389, tax, tag and title. I don't think that cash vs finance played a role in the price paid. I spoke to three dealerships, all located in SW Florida, and this was the best offer. Now the waiting......
