@tar4 when I run the deal through the Leasify iPhone app I get a Deal Score of 8.6/10 which is recommended. As you can see on the deal sheet you are under dealer invoice and the average selling price (I used a San Jose, CA zip code for Edmunds True Market Value). Money factor is very good.

If anything I would poke at fees to see if there is anything they can do about the $371... can't really avoid the acquisition fee but with all things considered this is a good deal. If you like the car and need the features of the EX-L with navigation I say go for it.

I sure wouldn't want NAVI just to get XM radio. XM radio can be added.

I'm just trying to understand how a store would be willing to lose that kind of money?

Trunk money? Probably but nowhere close to 3000.00!

Also I never heard of not paying an acquisition fee.

    " Can I do better?"

If you are, indeed a serious shopper (?) I would grab this FAST!

    Something just sounds wrong here....

Maybe I've been out of the business too long.

@truman_r thanks for looking that up for me! @isellhondas I was told by two dealers that XM only works with Navi package

You can't do anything about the fees, because other than the $80 doc fee, those are California title/registration fees and required by the government. Be glad that California restricts doc fees to $80 maximum by statute.

The $595 acquisition fee is listed in the CAP cost calculation, so that is in there.

Seriously... pick which car you want (Accord or Civic), and go get it. You have two really good offers, and complete financial disclosure.

I've been reading this thread and the deal they have near me NY seems to good to be true. I talked to the sales person over the phone and she swore that there is no additional hidden fee or cost. However, she did not mention disposition fee of $350 until I asked about it though.

This is for Civic LX sedan 2915 automatic (which I gather is CVT) with I assume has the MSRP of $20,110.

$139 per month for 36 month with 10K miles/year. The ad says destination is included in the price. $0 Prep fee. Total due at signing is $139 first month payment plus $595 bank fee.

Total payment is $5599 plus disposition fee of $350 at the end of the lease. This works out to $165.25/month. Should I take it? Do you think I can get them to knock off the disposition fee?

Disposition fee is set by the bank and cannot be negotiated or removed.

$139/mo (with tax?) seems a great deal on the Civic LX.

Man, I can't BELIEVE these lease deals!!

Funny...some things never change. People still ask if they can do better or have something thrown in.

I see a couple of things here. Disposition fees have returned and they have a 10,000 mile lease that they never offered before. Maybe the mileage over charges have gone up and Honda is hoping a lot of people will mile these cars up.

Heck, I might just sell our 2003 CRV and snap one of these up!

A one owner 4WD EX CRV that has been BABIED should break the bank!

Probably enough to pay for two Civic leases.

Sales tax is extra. I omitted it so it is easier to compare. Also, there is title and registration. The whole thing I reckon will come out around $180 per month (when I add bank and disposition fee in the price) with sales tax included.

With the deals on the Civic lease right now, I'm pretty much recommending that anyone I know who is in the market for a smaller car pick one up.

Naturally I get a ton of "but you don't really own it", and no amount of explaining how you save on interest, are protected from market downturn or the car being a lemon, and that even someone who finances owns NOTHING until they pay it off (just like a lease!) manages to sway them at all. I watch people I know with limited budgets hammer themselves into $400/mo car payments all the time (even though they have to bust out the ramen noodles to make ends meet afterwards).

It's kind of sad. I wonder why financing is still so popular sometimes.

I think I found out why honda is giving away Civics with cheap leases.

I read the 2016's are going to be TOTALLY different with tons of upgrades!

Still, if you like the 2015's (I sure do) snap one up while you can!

What is the current money factor for Honda? In Ohio and looking at leasing a 2015 Civic EX sedan. 15k miles a year- what is the current residual value as well? Thanks.

Also, are there any other current incentives or lease cash available for the Honda Civic EX '15?

Honda doesn't do 18K leases; it's 15K max then a deduction of .15 per extra mile, or $900 for a 24 month lease or $1350 for a 36 month lease.

65% for 24/15 and 58% for 36/15. Civic MF in NV is .00030

So is that just a penalty I would pay at the end of the lease for the extra mileage or is it somehow factored into the monthly payment from the start? Also, don't a lot of companies charge more for more expensive cars (e.g. 20 cents per mile for cars costing over $30K)?

No, the money associated with the extra miles is deducted from the calculated residual right from the start.

For example, if the MSRP is $20,000, then 58% of that is $11,600. The $1350 is then deducted from the $11,600 to give a true residual of $10,250. The depreciation portion of the payment is calculated on the delta between the negotiated price and the adjusted residual value.

But if you sign up for a 15K lease and only drive 13K, there is no refund.

Some people think there is just like some people think the residuals can be argued over at lease end.
  • ROMILROMIL Member Posts: 111
Thanks for the clarification, that makes sense. So paying upfront is better than paying the penalty at the end of the lease because they may only charge 15 cents per mile upfront versus 20 cents per miles when you return the car? I'm just trying to figure out if it's better to have a higher lease payment or a lower one with a penalty at the end.

It's almost always cheaper to buy the miles up front and amortize the cost each month in your payment. Wouldn't be good to be stuck with a huge mileage charge at the end of the lease.

(which may be the situation i'll face next year when my lease is up - I'm at 30,000 miles out of 45,000 and I've got until November 2016 still)

Thanks. I'm in a 36mo/15K Hyundai Azera lease right now. I have a little over 42K on the car and 6 months until lease maturity in Feb. I figure I'll hit my 45K mileage cap in October. Doh!

Oops. May be easier to just get another Hyundai; they might be more willing to forgive the mileage charges if you lease another one.

Yeah same thing happened with my last lease (a 2011 Sonata). I was able to use the lease pull-ahead program to get out of my Sonata and into the Azera about 4 months early with no penalty for the mileage or having to pay the disposition fee. I'm looking into a Genesis lease now...kinda pricey though.

Helped my cousin lease a 2015 Civic LX automatic for $148 ($157 w/tax) a month with $893 drive off. MSRP was $20,900 (some accessories must have been added to base of 20,110) and lease was for 36 month/36kmiles. I believe money factor was .0003 and residual was 59% of MSRP. The $893 drive off include doc fee, registration and first month payment,
The dealer advertised the deal at $148 a month with $1999 down, so I think we saved about 1100 off that.

Southern or Northern CA? MF is different (.00030 for SoCal, .00076 for NorCal). 57% for 36/12 leases; Honda doesn't offer 10K miles per year.

So I just asked my local VW dealer finance office about this (I know this is a Honda forum...) and they said anything over 15K per year would cost 20 cents per mile, regardless of whether I pay upfront or as a penalty at the end of the lease. He recommended not paying upfront because if I end up not using the extra mileage I paid for, there would be no refund at the end.

Does this sound legit? Seems like what I've been told on this forum is you can pay upfront for extra mileage at a cheaper rate than the penalty rate.

That's generally the case, but not always. Looks like VW is doing it the right way .. pay for only what you use.

I would, however, confirm with a second VW dealer.

I also asked a Honda dealer and they said to pay upfront, but at the same rate as an end-of-lease penalty which wouldn't make sense. A Mazda dealer told me to pay at the end. So dealers seem to be all over the place and it seems paying at the end is probably the better bet.
