What dealer was this? I'm just about ready to accept an offer on a EX 2wd and this is the situation I'm dreading-- getting to the dealer w/ my check and having them pull a stunt like this. Fortunately, I'm in a position where I can walk out.
Invoice plus destination for my car was $24,767 and I paid $24,756 last week without much negotiation at all.
You should not have a problem getting invoice + destination without a lojack surprise in the Bay Area.
Thanks.
So all in all my OOD price is $21,8000 (after the trade in). Is this a good deal?
The dealership is David McDavid of Frisco TX.
If backing out is allowed, how much time we have to do so? Do we need to give a reason?
Working backwards on your deal...
22,900 OTD
- 225 doc fees (average in TX)
- 1333.82 taxes -- math->([22,900 - ((22,900 - 225)/.0625)]
========
21341.18 (your selling price ~ roughly)
MRSP on CR-V LX 2wd
20,600.00
+ 595.00 (dest)
========
$21,195.00

Some states have "cooling off" time, but most don't accomodate buyer's remorse.
This is why many advise not to test drive and make decision to buy on the same day, and especially not to take delivery on the same day as test drive, or signing of papers. It gives you time to literally "sleep on it."
Unless your state has a "cooling off" law, the car is yours, and if you were to sell it, it will be treated as a used car, which diminishes its value.
Also, see if your dealer has best price guarantee. I know some give you so much time to match other dealer's prices.
As far as I can see, you got the the deal of the century. What dealership in St. Louis gave you the CR-V EXL 4WD for $25.5K OTD? I'll take two!
That breaks down to roughly
$26327.20 | strike price ($300 over invoice)
$ 595.00 | freight

Another dealer offered to match and I am going with them. They threw in wheel locks :P .
Is $299 a good price for the roof rack, installed?
Don't dwell on what's already occurred. The CRV is a very popular vehicle and there hasn't been much discounting in the D/FW area. You are not the first nor the last person that has or will pay MSRP. Just look at the prices paid forum when the '08 Accord gets released.
I'm sure this experience will make you be a better prepared and more informed consumer the next time around.

The dealer accessories at McDavid Frisco may explain why they've had a steady stock of over 15 CRV's for almost the entire month whereas one dealer near me rarely has had more than 5 in stock at any time this month. Both Lute Riley & Freeman have a low stock of CRV's - less than 5 each. McKinney has 44! but they can't or won't even respond with a quote.
Is this a good price for an '07 2WD, EX-L with leather and Navi?
-Matt
Thanks!
Are those good prices? THX!
Not a great price; I paid $21.3 for same with a hitch; however from this forum there does seem to be major differences in prices depending on geographical area; also keep in mind the '08 models will be out in 2-3 months.
I paid:
$24,389 including a $399 doc fee.
With 6% tax and TTL my OTD price was $25894.34
The dealer installs on all CRVs mudflaps which were included and I got him to throw in wheel locks. He was unwilling to throw in any other accessories that I asked for.
Hard to negotiate on a car that is in high demand but my wife loves the car.
Also the rear mud flaps are standard.
$399 is actually low for Georgia. Most of the Atlanta dealers were $499 and one even $599. So in comparing prices I factored in the doc fee to all the prices and then tried to negotiate down from there.
it is Mike Pruitt Honda in Akron.
I got it in western Massachusetts; Boston sunday papers (eastern Mass.) have them for even less - at least the ones featured in the ads.
I've read a ton here (thanks for the education!) and was curious about the warranties offered online by Saccucci and the like. Is it the same as the warranty offered by my dealer at almost double the price ($1725 for the 8 yr/120k mi)? It's so much cheaper that hubby is a little skeptical that it's legitimate.
There also seems to be a lot excluded from the coverage - just how useful is it? Any experiences would be helpful.
Thanks!
Debbie
I can definitely see that fee happening in bigger cities. The best you can do with these doc fees is if they won't take them off, they can play with other numbers to lower that.
I walked out of one dealer once in NC for charging doc fees when others charged none at all. You have to do paperwork to sell the darn car so why charge for all that crap. Course, my free keychain and some other goodies were nice
