Anyone in CA (specifically SF Bay Area) bought one yet?

If so, can you share the base price (including destination charge, but no other fees/taxes) you negotiated?

    Thanks!

I'm intent on picking up an 08 EX-L w/o nav in upstate NY at the end of the year. I've been fielding offers over email, and they're clustering around 26,4xx to 26,7xx (inc. destination). I wonder if there is any room for negotiation - any thoughts? Thanks.

Checking the CRV inventories of Honda dealers in the central jersey and nearby regions, more than 80% of the 2007 leftovers are EXL models. As the 2008 EXLs are arriving in a couple of weeks with improvements, I imagine the dealers will be willing to negotiate prices if the clients show real interests. DCH Academy Honda does not provide online inventory check, while its sister dealer DCH Kay Honda provide that info. Could you tell us what price you pay for the 2007 EXL?

I ordered a 2008 Honda CR-V EX-L AWD w/o navigation online from a dealer in Rhinelander Wisconsin for $25,800.00 including destination + tax, title license. It is being built next week. Seems like a good deal. Tango Red Pearl!!

I just pre-ordered a CR-V 08 EX-L w/o nav inc destination for $24,543 ($200 over invoice). Arrival date 11/15. This was an internet offer from my local dealer. No haggling, they offered this price to start. Actually any crv they had was $200 over invoice for internet customers.

That's pretty sweet - but are you in the same area (upstate NY)? If so, please let me know where you got that nice deal.

I'm confused. I thought invoice on the 2008 EX-L w/o Nav was $24821 plus destination. Where did you get that invoice price?
  • golfnut2082golfnut2082 Member Posts: 3
I think barraboy ordered an EX-L FWD and not AWD. The invoice price on a FWD is $23,709.00 and the invoice on an AWD is $24,822.00. So he paid about $200 over invoice.

    CR-V 2008 EX (no leather/no navi) 2WD
    Selling price :$ 22k

Negotiated $24,7k (including destination fee, free tints on front windows and auto-dim mirror installed) + tax & tags, but did not pull the trigger yet.

Is a a good deal or should I push the dealer to get better price or throw in some more freebies?
  • pete22pete22 Member Posts: 80
That sounds like a good price since it include tax, license and extras. Best price I was given in email was 24,599 price for a 2008 EX-L but don't know how true that really is since the car is probably 3 weeks away from any dealer near me having it. Also that price does not include tax and license adds alot.
  • redbull4redbull4 Member Posts: 3
Pete22, where the dealer is located?

Actually in my case the taxgs and taxes are not included in $24,7k and this is a 2007 model, not 2008.

Basically they offer to sell it to me about $70 below the invoice and throw in the auto-dim mirror and tints on the driver and passenger windows. So I estimate it's about $350 below the invoice if you add the discount from invoice price to the MSRP value of the freebies and cost of installation.

redbull4, Its sounds like a good price to me. I negotiated $24,800 for 2007 EX-L 4WD w/o Nav in SC, a few weeks ago. (I ended up buying an EX 4WD instead, for 2K less.) The dealer had plenty of '07 EXs and EXLS in stock.

To get a better deal just make the offer yourself--decide what specific extras you or what exact lower price you want and being prepared to buy if they say yes. If they say no, be prepared to walk out the door or end the email exchange. You can increase the odds of their saying "yes" by checking the inventory of the dealer -- do they have '07 EXLs in stock? how many?. If they have a bunch in stock and they aren't moving, they will probably eventually say "yes" to your offer if its within reason. If they refuse to budge, you can always come back and take that offer in a few days....if it hasn't been sold.

The other thing to watch is "document" or "administrative fees". Most dealers in our area charge from $300-$500 for those fees. Let them charge what ever fees they want, but when negotiating, make sure that you make clear (in an email offer, for instance) that the total OTD price before taxes and title includes ALL fees. They can then readjust the invoice whatever way they want---while you get your bottom-line price.

Forget the tint unless it's guaranteed from peeling and scratching.

I have been shopping for a CRV EX AWD in the LaCrosse WI area for the last few weeks. MSRP is 24,785. I offered 23,600 about 500 over cost to 4 surrounding dealerships and 2 out of the four accepted the offer. The Rochester, MN dealership (Tom Kadlec Honda) has been by far the most pleasant dealership to work with. It took almost two weeks of haggling to get my local dealership in LaCrosse (where I bought my last two Hondas) to come close to my price. The internet sales dept in Rochester accepted my offer within 15 minutes. Good luck to everyone out there - don't forget to do your homework it really pays off! :shades:

HI, I am looking at 2007 White EX CR-V with window tint, cargo tray, wheel locks, pin stripe, front splash guards, roof rack, and paint and fabric seals (which he says is a conditioner to protect fabric and prolong shine). I have gotten the dealer down to $22,505 and he says he has $22,495 in the car and cannot go below. Is this a good deal? Do honda dealers ever go below invoice? Should I wait longer and see if I can get more off or take it? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    thanks

I was able to negotiate $200 over Invoice + Destination on a 2008 CRV LX AWD with standard equipment. One other dealer offered a similar price. This car is being shipped from the Japan factory in 4-6 weeks. The rear cargo (tonneau) cover is an option which the dealer wanted to charge $235 (list) +$100 installation. You can get the identical Honda OEM cargo cover online for about $170 and install it yourself in about 10 minutes with no tools.

Thanks for the info. By the way I am in Texas.

That sounds very good - which dealer(s)?
  • pete22pete22 Member Posts: 80
Well as mentioned I don't know how true it as as they don't have the cars in and never took a deposit or would give a contract. Had three dealers quote that Family Honda in Santa Margarita, Power in Costa Mesa, and a honda in Santa Ana. Family pretended they had the car in and "acted" surprised that it wasn't (as mentioned the 08 EX-L are not built yet) but could give me a great deal on the 2007. Left since I only wanted the 2008 and an not in a hurry. They still send me emails promising the price. The other two tried the same bait ands switch but I never wasted my time driving down only called or emailed to make sure it was in before driving there. So won't really know the price until they are in.

Are you sure it was a 2008 AWD EX because at $22,585 (inc. destination), that works out to about $500 below invoice?

    Hello,
Where can I find current residual values and money factors for 2008 CRV-4WD EX-L.

    Thanks,
    Leonid
  • earlweaveearlweave Member Posts: 2
Yes it was the EX model, AWD and a 2008, so we feel we got a pretty fair price :)
  • barraboybarraboy Member Posts: 2
The dealers were in CT and MA. Both dealers were offering the 08 EX-L for $200 over invoice. In addition the CT dealer offered all maintenance for 3 years! Not bad.
  • matrixva1matrixva1 Member Posts: 21
Fair price? You stole the CRV at that price. :)

    Hi,

I'm looking for an EX AWD on LI. Which of two dealers gave you the best price?

Does anyone know when the dealers in NE states will get EX-L in their lots?
  • pete22pete22 Member Posts: 80
Don't know about there but on the West coast I was told not until Nov 10th.

    Just bought a 2008 CR-V EX 4WD for 23,121 + tax+ doc. Dealership is running a 30 year anniversary special until October 31 - 2008 CR-V's (all models) only $30 over invoice.

Where is the dealership in N. Indiana? I live in that area and might make a visit. I'm looking for the EX-L AWD Nav but maybe they'd honor the price and let me make a deposit on one.

Does anyone know why it seems the 2008 models are being sold so close to invoice just after being released? It almost seems you can get better deals on the 2008 vs the left over 2007 models which seems odd. Based on this early 2008 model pricing does anyone expect even better deals next year?

I worked with Roger at Gurley Leep Honda in Elkhart, Indiana.
  • yakultspitsyakultspits Member Posts: 22
I think that depends on the part of the country. Here in NY, I'm not getting anywhere close to invoice. I'd like to know if anyone else in the area is.

    Earlweave,

Could you break the $1400 down? I'm wondering what the dealership charged you for the "dealer fee" or "document fee"? Our first round:

    Base '08 CR-V 2WD LX
    $20,635 + TTL + 600 ("document fee") = 22,818

    Thanks,

    -d

    adamantli,

Could you give us breakdown what you paid? I'm particularly interested in the "Document" or "Dealer" Fee.

    Thanks,

    Which dealership in the T.C.?
  • crusher99crusher99 Member Posts: 7
The breakdown of my actual final cost for a 2008 CRV LX AWD is as follows:
    2008 CRV LX - AWD ( @ INVOICE) $20,370
    DESTINATION 635
    Document Fee 199
    FINAL COST(excl.DMV+Sales Tax) $21,204

The dealer charges the same amount for DMV which he pays the NYS DMV and you reimburse him based on his receipt from the DMV. The NYS Sales tax is based on the county where you live.

It's the end of the month. Any great deals brewing in Southern California?

Has anyone had any dealings with Hardin Honda in Anaheim? Curious about any buying experiences there.

    Thanks very much.

Last week of October is the time the dealers are willing to give you good deals after 2 months that I emailed them back and forth.
I learned tips from Fatwallet forum and carbuytips.com. I got an offer $19,164 for 2007 LX 2WD from one dealer and other 2 dealers are willing to beat that price for 2008 CRV because they don't have any 2007 in stock. i'm little surprise. Sport Honda and Northwest Honda in MD offer this deal for me:
    $19,000 + $49 processing fee + $635 destination + TTL

    Invoice: $19,275
    MSRP : $20,700
  • crusher99crusher99 Member Posts: 7
The car was purchased from Yonkers Honda. Similar prices were quoted by Planet Honda and Paramus. Make sure that you are working with the Internet Sales Dept. My recommendation is send an email to the dealer and ask them them to beat the best quote you have. Some dealers will tell you directly that they can not match or beat the price. If a dealer wants to make a sale they will either match or beat the price via email without you having to spend your time playing the "I have to talk my manager game". If the dealer asks you to come in first, tell him you will only come in if he sends you his best price in writing via email and he has already confirmed this price with his manager. You have the power of competitive market information. Please let us know how you make out. Good Luck.

This is the deal the dealership is willing to give me on a new 2008 CR-V EX AWD in Columbus, OH. Also, we are trading in a gas-guzzling 2006 Honda Pilot 4WD (averages 15 mpg, so we are downsizing and hoping for an overall average of 20 mpg on the CR-V). We owe 23500 and the dealer will give us $21800. This was the best appraisal we got from 7 different dealerships. So with that said, here is the breakdown:
-2008 CR-V EX AWD - $23900 (about halfway between MSRP and Invoice)
-$0 down (except first month's payment)
-39 month lease. We wanted a 36, but the 39 actually shaved off over $20 on the monthly payment, and 3 months past warranty is, to me, no issue.
    -15K miles per year
-Residual is 62% (residual for 36 month was the same)
    -$420/month
We actually got a 0.0023 Money Factor, which seems to be lower than most I have researched.
Anyone with information on whether or not they think this is a good deal considering the trade-in and not placing any money down (which I would never do on a lease), and also if the 39 mo. vs the 36 mo. is a good choice to save over $20 per month, it would be greatly appreciated as we plan on signing the papers and picking up on Monday.
    Thanks!

Yesterday, I paid $ 300 over invoice plus $ 100 for processing plus $ 635 freight for a 2008 CRV LX AWD. I also got fog lights (MSRP $ 539) and all-season mats (MSRP $ 150) at 20% discount. As it happened, the car had pinstripes (MSRP $ 125), front splash guards ($ 96), and door jamb moldings ($ 399), which I did not want, and they let me have free - thus showing that these options have a very low cost for the dealers. The cash price was $ 21,956.00, and with taxes $ 1097.80 and tags+lien $ 195, the OTD price was $ 23,248.80. The dealer was Herson's Honda in Rockville, MD. Very pleasant to deal - no hassles.
