We have a Toyota down here who advertises a free lifetime drivetrain warranty, seems like your dealer gave you one on the engine. I was wondering how the paperwork reflects this. Did your Honda dealership provide a written warranty, and if so is the contract with the dealership directly or a 3rd party....and what is the deductible?

I am in the market for a new CR-V 4WD EX-L, what should I expect to pay in the Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus area? Also, what kind of financing options should I expect?

    Thanks.

kenneth813, to answer your questions in post #6703. the person who posted just after you was right, the reason your headlights are always on at a dimmer level is you DRL. and it is not a "problem" they are supposed to be on. as for your lack of storage bin under your seat... come see me, I'll trade you my bin for whats under your seat. You have an upgraded radio, that is your subwoofer. I hope nobody told you there was a storage bin under there in your EX-L.
  • kenneth813kenneth813 Member Posts: 38
I thought Honda made a mistake when they build my car because I check the brochure and Honda web site, they all showing EX-L has a under seat storage bin. I prefer the subwoofer rather than the bin even though it is a good place for the map. Thank you for your information.

Hi, I'm in NJ and sho pping around for the 2008 CRV 4WD LX.
The best so far is $21100 (destination included) without tax or doc fee. Is it a good deal? or I should do better?
Anyone can recommend a dealer in Northern NJ area with a reasonable price and easy to dealing with?
    Thx!
  • crusher99crusher99 Member Posts: 7
I think that is a pretty good deal. I purchased a 2008 CRV LX AWD in November for Invoice of $20,370 + Destination $635 = $21,005. The document fee was $199 additional. That was the best price after a few rounds of emailing a number NY/NJ dealers. The dealer is in Paramus, he was reasonable without high pressure.

cherrycherry - Shoot me an email and I will provide you with the name and number of an excellent sales person at a very good dealer in northern NJ.
  • al74al74 Member Posts: 5
Lowest quote I got so far is $21,235 plus about $400 in registration etc. (for any color, no other options). Any chance I can lower that?
  • bucobuco Member Posts: 49
After seriously considering a Hyundai Santa Fe, many owners in my area were very disappointed in service and warranty work.

So I've decided to research a Honda CRV 2008 which has a much better reliability rating.

Some of you say that you have received very good offers for free lifetime warranty on drive train and engine from your dealers. Please tell me how the dealer guaranteed this for you. Thanks very much.

I've contacted a lot of dealers in and around Central Texas and Houston. They all want a deposit for me to wait for the slow boat from Japan. I guess I'll have to look somewhere where the snow falls. Anyone else having problems in Texas? By the way the best "deals" have ranged from retail list to $500 off retail list.
    Thanks, waiting patiently in Texas.
  • alamocityalamocity Member Posts: 680
Yeah, the 4WD models are hard to come by in Central Tx and not much of a price break on the CRV's here.

    Hi,
I'm about to purchase a new CR-V EX AWD Auto Black on Black at Criswell Honda. When I started here at edmunds.com I wanted a CR-V AWD LX Auto black. Quotes came in from College Park Honda, Jim Coleman Honda, and Sports Honda. I called Criswell Honda since we bought our new 2002 CR-V LX AWD from them. The remaining player is Criswell Honda. College Park Honda is the worst - not willing to negotiate - selling MSRP. Sports Honda is very slow in response. Jim Coleman aggressive but disappointed when I met with the Internet Dealer - CRV Accessorized and not willing to take them off. I asked for bare - NO options nor accessories. Walk out the door. Criswell via phone beat (#6709) hockeyfool's $22,200 by $200 ($22,000 destiantion fee included). Thanks hockeyfool for the posting here. I am to see Criswell today and will see if they honor their words.

When I mentioned above theat I started with the LX AWD, Criswell via phone quoted a $19,800 for the car only (+destination (635) +tags/Title($237), 6% MD Tax, and $100 Processing). You do the math.

Is anyone out there that has a better price for CR-V EX AWD auto in the Washington DC metwor area?
  • raffpee1raffpee1 Member Posts: 9
I want to recall my message earlier about Criswell being the best dealer. After speaking to sales rep Nasser (internet sales), manager, earl is DENIYING such price of $22,000 including freight. Honda buyers BEWARE. My next posting is when I have the car out the dealership. Stay tuned......
  • raffpee1raffpee1 Member Posts: 9
OK. I went to Sport Honda in Silver Spring, MD and went home with a new CR-V EX AWD auto Black on Ivory. I got a great deal and I highly recommend Sport Honda in Silver Spring (3101 Automobile Blvd). There were too many customers buying new automobiles - every sales rep were occupied. ATTENTTION all sales rep and customers- Sport Honda is the place to be. My sales rep, Alex Chan, was dealing with 2 customers at the same time and saw them leave with new vehicles. General Manager, Mike Freedman, was very helpful. Not only he gave me a great deal, he help put on my tags. Sorry people, I cannot provide you the actual out the door price but I know Sport Honda is the best compare to Criswell, Jim Coleman, College Park Honda, and Ourisman Honda in Bethesda. Sport Honda does not install any accessories that you do not want. Unless you want specific accesories on them and they can install them prior to purchase. Other dealers have accesories on their vehicles because it another way of forcing you to pay for them. You cannot have a dealer take off any installed accesories because "it's hard to take them out" one dealer says. Another dealer says "labor cost". For people who are handy, I suggest to but the genuine honda accesories over the Internet. Amen.
  • chateau_sunsetchateau_sunset Member Posts: 4
What's wrong with revealing the out the door price you paid for your CR-V to the members of this forum? Not to be opinionated, your speech sounds kinda like a rehearsal as if you're working for Sports Honda. I'm a potential CR-V buyer and not working for any dealership but can't help from saying what I think here.
  • raffpee1raffpee1 Member Posts: 9
The reason why I cannot reveal my out the door price is because the dealer will make little money and may go out of business. The general manager, Mike Freedman, is nice enough to give it to me yesterday beause he is "at the time" working on selling in volumes rather than getting customers to pay a lot more. Also, the car I wanted is in the lot - CRV AWD EX black. Timing really matters and I just happen to be on the right time. It may still be a right time. I started with getting quotes from Edmunds.com with my zipcode 20906 a week ago. It started with email quotes and they usually starts below MSRP. You can worked them out until they give you the best prize. Make sure that you have every quotes in writing or stated in the email. All I can tell you is that I told every dealer about the quote on this forum which is documented (message #6709) hockeyfool's $22,000 (car and freight only - thanks hockeyfool) on a new 2008 CR-V EX AWD. Try to be avasive about the location. Only taxes, processing fee, and title may differ from state to state. The only thing I did not like is Alex from Sport Honda did not respond right away to my emails. You have to be patient. Trick that I stumbled on is when I said I was going to meet the dealer after work, I end up not going and not telling them that I couldn't make it. It made them called me back and asked why. My answer to that is "so and so dealer beat your quote for so and so dollar amout. Then, dealer will try to beat it. This happened a couple of times. Just be patient as well. It took me a week. I told them my situation - my car got totalled (99 accord ex) and I need a safer but fuel efficient SUV. I told them I have a bank check that will cover the out the door prize. I think it's a game that you need to get the right prize and that number should be really low and close to their selling number. Let me know how it went.

BTW, I am not working for Sport Honda. My statements are true about Sport Honda. All my hondas are serviced at Sport Honda and they do great work and customer service. Another trick I learned about service is that if that the service is not part of the warranty liek alignment, I tell the service person that I have a coupon for so and so. I asked if they can put it in the warranty and it will help us both, me not paying for it and dealer charging as high as they can for it through Honda - and it works. Your car must be still under warranty to do this. Good luck and I hope you get the best deal.

    I bought a CR-V EX recently.

The best internet quote I got was 23000 + destination (635)

    I ended up paying 23235 + TTL.

I checked on Edmunds and the Invoice price was at approximately 22500. I thought I got an OK deal. Edmunds shows my price to be below what people have been paying in the region. So, I didnt bother much.

I have seen people say they are paying much less in other states I didnt realize that the destination charge is essentially the dealer's profit.

Looking at what others are paying, I feel I could have paid a good 1000 - 1500 less.

Part of the problem also was that I was in a desperate need to buy a new car and this was the only dealer that had a AWD EX for the specific color.

In summary, take your time, research everything and go in with a price that is a good 3000 below anything they quote.

I'm in the market for a CR-V LX 2WD. Best quotes I've gotten so far are: $19,900 from a dealership in LA (I'm in San Diego) and $19,590 for a 2007 (from a dealership in Fontana.) The quote from the LA dealership includes destination, but not taxes and license, and the one in Fontana doesn't include taxes, license and destination. So, are these good prices?

    Thanks! ;)

Hello everyone, I am interest on a CRV w/nav in NY area. I dont mind to travel a little. Any idea what would be a good price to paid. The best I have got is $28100, from a local LI dealer. thanks.
  • chateau_sunsetchateau_sunset Member Posts: 4
I agree with you about Criswell. As far as what I've experienced so far, the internet sales guy cites a very lubricous quote just so that you can show up to the lot and only to experience the manager saying 'no' that they can't beat the price because they say they don't make profit or other shebang. Criswell quoted me $19964 for the base price for a 2008 CRV 4WD in White (the color I like) and I thought I was gonna bring a car home that day. When I showed up, they didn't have the car on the lot and the manager said 'no' to the price the internet sales guy quoted me earlier so I walked out the door. Guess it's an old trick they play and for sure it's not new.

    To all members.
After reading all the previous letters posted over the last month or so I have come to the conclusion that there are great deals! on the CR-V. The best I have read about was from a member who paid $21,395 for a EX-AWD from Dublin Honda just outside of the Bay area of San Francisco. I notice Honda do not have any offers' on this model, and the sales guy's will try to steer you into a gas guzzling Pilot which is on offer for around $23,000 with a low interest rate of 0.9 or 1.9 apr.
So! what with the recession on the horizon, I think it is only a matter of time before Honda get off their 'High Horse' and offer deals on the Cr-V. compatable with the Pilot deals now. I should have thought that the economic climate we will be seeing will bring down finance rates for those of us who have to use them! (or am I wrong?)
Anyway I'm going to wait a few months before buying but will continue to read the experiences of you buyers out there! so keep those letters rolling in.
    Thanks. Martin (from Oakland ca)

The best quote I have for a 2008 CR-V AWD LX is $19, 800 - car only. Remember to mention to dealers that we are "in recession" and that it's buyer's market. Walk away if dealer is not willing to go below invoice price.

Hey all. There are not a lot of NW posters on here, as I found in trying to do research, so here is my deal.

$26,050 plus only TTL from Bellevue Honda for a 2008 EX-L AWD in my preferred color fresh off the truck with a 01/08 build date in Japan. Took delivery with 10 (PDI) miles on it. Took about 30 minutes to do the deal, longer for them to PDI and clean the transport goo off of it so I could take it home that day. It is just recently that I have been able to find my color 2008 EX-L on the lots up here--supply still seems tight, thus I am satisfied with the deal.

Car whispers "quality" in every way tactile and dynamic. I become more pleased with it during each drive.

After trying for a month to get an AWD Navi in Texas I have come to the conclusion I will have to order a new one and wait 6-12 weeks. I called Honda to find out when orders will be taken for the 2009s. They reported late spring/early summer. I might as well wait a couple of months and order a 2009.

Does anyone know when orders were first taken fore the 2008s??
    Thanks, Don

Hey guys, well after having the big debate over to either buy a CR-V or Santa Fe i think that we have decided for the CR-V.
We want the EX-L 4wd with NAV and also want to get the wood trim and fog lights.

What price should i expect to pay? I have set in my mind that im not going to pay MSRP.
So what are you guys paying for a CR-V like this one??

And do any of you like the wood trim? Does it look good in person?? Pics??

    Thx in advance

Hi all! I've been shopping for a 2008 CRV EX 2WD and was thinking about offering $22,800 otd but been reading the past 10 pages seeing that would have been too much. Got a dealer nearby trying to sell me an EX AWD for $23,000 since they didn't have 2WD EX . I was thinking that was a great deal until I saw $21,395 OTD for EX AWD. Anyone got any clue on where the deals are? After stumbling on to this board I'm thinking of offering:
    EX 2WD = $21,000 otd
    EX AWD = $21,500 otd
    Any help is very appreciated!

Thanks everyone for all the great info I’ve read on this forum. Here’s my deal from a Southern California dealer (Power Honda in Valencia) that Edmonds recommends:

    2008 CR-V EX-L w/Navi FWD White
Sales price: $26,650.00 includes destination charge
    Doc Fee: $55.00
    CA Sales tax: $2,210.59
I also got the Honda Care extended warranty (7Yrs/120,000 Mi) for $1,700.
  • califcraigcalifcraig Member Posts: 2
If you don't need the AWD I won't get it. Read the disscussion topic section about the rear differential problems some people are having with the AWD's. I just bought a FWD because we'll be using it for city only.
  • cliffbcliffb Member Posts: 46
Don't pay for dealer-installed "wood" trim - do it yourself after purchasing from several on-line parts sellers - dead simple. BTW it looks great, much better than the plastic surface.
  • ccacpccacp Member Posts: 117
The extended warranty is available at a fraction of the cost. Just search in edmunds.com "hondacare" You can cancel your warranty that you bought with the dealer and buy the one online. You will save $$$$

I also got the Honda Care extended warranty (7Yrs/120,000 Mi) for $1,700.
  • ccacpccacp Member Posts: 117
for 500 dollars I would definitely buy it. You will recuperate the costs at resale. There have NOT been any reported issues on the differential for the 2007-2008 models after a certain VIN from Japan 2007 model year.

Go for the AWD, you will not regret it !

My car broke down while I was in a search of a new car. As a result I was on rental for week and I was desperate to get a new car.

I bought Honda CR-V EX AWD from Paramus, NJ on Feb 20, 2008.

Dealer was offering me invoice price
    23092 + 7% NJ tax + Doc & Tire Fee (206.5) + Registration Fee (234$)

About 4-5 days ago I walked out on the deal putting an offer of

    22K + + 7% NJ tax + Doc & Tire Fee (206.5) + Registration Fee (234$)

They said they can do something like 22.5K + + 7% NJ tax + Doc & Tire Fee (206.5) + Registration Fee (234$)

I declined it. Then I visited Mawah Honda, TerryTown Honda, Nanuet Honda, Jersey City Honda, Clifton Honda......

ALl of them said deal is too good to be true and I should buy from them if they really offer me that.

All them said max they can do is Invoice or 100$ over invoice. No other accessories etc

    So i decided to buy at 22.5K + + 7% NJ tax + Doc & Tire Fee (206.5) + Registration Fee (234$)

When i went to the dealer they backed out. They said best they can do is 22.9K + 7% NJ tax + Doc & Tire Fee (206.5) + Registration Fee (234$)

Since I was running rental car for almost a week and i have some other family issue, I didn't get chance to bargin much then.

I took the deal. Its 200$ under invoice.

Worst part is dealership was offering some Internet special like free key replacement etc. They declined to honor that.

My total was 24940$ for 2008 Honda CR-V EX AWD.

My bad... but thats ok. I am suppose to buy another car in next 3-4 months. I think I will do better shopping.

Sales person and business manager were good. However Sales Manager "Moe" in paramus dealership was very rude, dishonest.

    I hope this helps.

Please let me know if its a good deal or not so I can be careful for my next purchase.

This website will change car buying for all of us if we share the good and the bad of buying, reliability, service. Please encourage others to do so to help us all.

I'm looking for a 2008 CRV EX 2WD Silver ... with no extras.

I've seen where other buyers of different manufacturers have purchased a vehicle at a price significantly below invoice by shopping at a distant dealer and then paying to have the vehicle trucked to the buyer's home. After paying for the trucking, the savings have amounted to at least $1,000. Has anyone had that experience or has a really low price that makes this option attractive for me?

Another option posted on this website involves buying through Costco or Sam's Clujb. If you know of these options for Honda, please share the pros and cons of each possibility.

The final experience posted here has to do with the success and failure of cooperative/competent dealer service after purchase and after warranty. Please let us know of your experience if you are not a dealer or an employee of one.

With the expense of buying a vehicle so high and the quality of the results so varied, this website is especially important to the consumer.

I thank all buyers who share with us their experiences of dealer names and prices. :)

Here is an update for all of you in CA. I got confirmation that the deal for $21,395 OTD was for a 2008 CRV LX 2WD. So the numbers I' ve been trying to get has been a joke to the dealers. So reverting back to what I was planning on spending was:
    EX 2WD = $22,800 otd
    EX AWD = $23,500 otd
Is anyone else having troubles getting reasonable online quotes? The quotes I' ve been getting is 2WD $24,600 to 25,400 and AWD $25,600 to 26,800 otd which doesn't motivate me to even go there to try offering in person.

  • choocchooc Member Posts: 1
I was offered a OTD price of 27.231.44 for a CRV EXL 2WD w/o navi. The price includes 100 over invoice, plus destination fee, plus pro package, plus other fees and taxes. Is this a good deal?
  • hockeyfoolhockeyfool Member Posts: 30
When I was looking for a CRV I attempted to go the Costco route. The dealership that they put me in contact with was out of state and the quote was actually much higher than other quotes I had received through internet sales. I think Costco is good for the type of person who isn't willing to do any work on there own so end up with an okay deal but not as good as though willing to put in some effort.

One benefit of Costco though is the interest rates on car loans are very good and can be used to work a better interest rate through the dealership.
  • trinity3trinity3 Member Posts: 50
That is the exact vehicle I am waiting for.
I had to place an order for that specific color combination.
Honda has given a build date of late April 2008!
So guess I won't get my CR-V until May or June.

Try Bernardi. On certain items their prices are better than HandA.

Enjoy. I am patiently/excitedly waiting to get mine.

$19,800? Now that's something I've never heard from any dealership for a CRV AWD. Who's the dealer who offers this base price by the way? Landmark Honda from VA stated to me that they can knock off $200 off the best price quote out there so far in their email. When I called them up, they say they can't beat it and that they'll charge me 8% in tax even though I live in MD which is supposed to be 6% for car tax The people from Landmark are DEFINITELY not someone you want to deal with. Don't be surprised that they'll do bait and switch on you. Also, because in writing they promise to give $200 off from the best price quote, is that something I can force them to be accountable for what they say through legal means?
  • kenneth813kenneth813 Member Posts: 38

Thanks, it is a royal blue w/ black interior, I did not purchase any items from the dealer, I did ask the sale person to throw in a set of lock nut. Later on, order a roof rack and a cargo tray ($186/$77) from H&A. So far the car is excellent.

    Hi all:

Does anyone have recent data for a CR-V EX AWD in Colorado? I got a quote of $23,900 (including everything but tax), but that seems pretty high to me. The Colorado data on this board is a little old, so any more recent prices would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Anyone tell me their best deal on a Honda CRV-EXL in the Memphis area. I did try the Costco deal and was not happy with the price the salesman quoted. Thanks :D
  • ccacpccacp Member Posts: 117
If you are wiling to travel a little bit, send out request for quotes through honda.com to as far out you are willing to go to save money. Remember you do not need to service vehicle where you buy it.

Costco program is a joke, I had gotten much lower than their quote, it all depends on how far you are willing to travel to save money !

    Good luck !
