Prices on "CarSpace Prices Paid" for Honda CRVs only speak of "dealer invoice" to compute purchase prices instead of "factory invoice with Honda manufacturer's logo" as suggested by Consumer Reports in its monthly magazine.
Will those of you who know, please tell us of Honda "factory invoice" locations on the net? Thanks very much.
19257(invoice)+635(destination)+300(tax)+75(title)+199(doc fee)=20,466(OTD)
I am wondering if I can get it below Edmund invoice. Also I don't know how this guy calculate the tax. Isn't the tax should be SC sales tax? :confuse: :confuse: How come it is only $300.
Please somebody tell me.
Where did you get those prices from? They are much higher than Edmunds.
Dealer invoice on 4WD EX-L is $25,456 including dest.
I'm in Toronto, Canada. Looking for dealers in the US willing to sell a new CR-V to a Canadian. This vehicle will be exported to Canada for my personal use. The prices up here are ridiculous.... Base LX model here starts around $28,000.
Does anyone know any dealers that would be willing to deal?
I would prefer the New York area... but will travel further if necessary.
Thanks
1) The Honda dealer franchise agreement did not permit either U.S or Canada dealers to sell new vehicles to customers that intended to register them in a different country. It's unlikely you'll find a dealer willing to risk losing their franchise to sell to you.
2) New Hondas sold in the U.S. then titled in Canada, or vice-versa, did not qualify for either a U.S. Honda warranty OR a Canada Honda warranty. The only option was a third party warranty.
Again, I can't guarantee the above is correct now, but I suspect you're going to find you're better off buying a vehicle in Canada that you think is fairly priced.

In case you missed it at the bottom of this page, "You may include the dealership name, city and state in your post. Please do not post names of salespeople, telephone numbers, email addresses, or other contact information."

There ARE dealers selling to Canadians. If you are saving anywhere from 10000-15000 dollars, any repair work that might need to be done, just put 1000 dollars in a bank account and use that to pay for the repairs OR there are 3rd party warranties out there that could be had for 1000 dollars for 5 years - 100000km (60000 miles). Anyhow, discussion should continue in proper forum......
If you are so sure there are U.S. Honda dealers selling to Candians how about citing one, to help the poster who asked?
I DID mention the third party warranty option. But third party warranties do not cover repairs that would have been covered by the manufacturer's warranty. If you have a powertrain failure within the first three years, the $1000 "five year" third party warranty you refer to will not cover it.
Most consumers will not want to be "self insured" for major repairs for the first three years of owning a new car, even a Honda.
We can't do this and arguing with me won't help.
For all I know, there might be Honda dealers willing to risk their businesses by selling to Canada but that would seem foolish to me.
I know if I were a Canadian dealer trying to pay the bills, it wouldn't make me very happy to see my customers going over the border to buy cars.
San Leandro Honda
Dublin Honda
San Francisco Honda
Grace Honda
Some didn't have our color, had slight imperfection, and/or options.
Don't forget to ask for the wheel locks too! :shades:
As some posts have listed here a price below invoice, does anyone know of an available CRV as described above which could be trucked to another location (preferably but not necessarily to the SE USA)?
:shades:
Good luck !
A word of caution, beware of any add ons when the vehicle will arrives i.e. appearance package, oops! we forgot to charge you processing fee, destination, etc.
I was pretty impressed with the quote, that is why I didn't go to other dealers as they quoted me almost a $1000 more. it will be too much work to work it down. And I don't want to take this offer to just get $50 off from somewhere else as I had good service experience with this dealership for a Honda that I own before.
The process was quite painless, just went in, took a test drive, tried to lower it some but they said they don't negotiate on internet quoted price. I thought since the price is very competitive to what I have research so I just bought the car there. They had quite a few colors there but didn't have the silver/black combo and the dealer will swap one with other dealers. Should be here in a week or two.
My total OTD price is $28,442 (6% tax + $222 tags)
I called Mike Patton they have a 08 LX on ebay for $19,893 buy it now price, including destination, its the cheapest price I have seen,(been lurking for only a week and just joined),too bad its only the LX so waiting for their price on the EX 2WD.
EDIT just got $ 21,726 plus doc fee $347 tag $15 lemon law $3 (no tax if I pay cash)
$ 22,091 OTD for a 08 EX does that sound good?
I am in the process to buy a car to be used as a company/private car. I am now facing a very difficult choice (at least for me!) and I would like to have as many inputs as possible so I can make the right/better choice. I need to pick between the 2 following cars:
Car 1: Suzuki SX4 Crossover 2008 – Brand new!
• 2WD
• Normally loaded
• 3 Yrs warranty unlimited miles/km
• $16,000.00
Car 2: Honda CRV 2005 – Used car in very good condition
• 4WD
• Fully Loaded (Leather seats, CD Changer and the whole nine yard!)
• Sun roof
• NO WARRANTY WHAT SO EVER
• $15,500.00
As you see the price is pretty much the same and this is why I need your help.
What would you do and why?
Thanks a lot for your answers.
Jonathan
The lowest quote for a 2008 EX 2WD I received is $22,050. The OTD will be slightly below $23,700.
One was petty put out that they saw we had all the aces,I guess they have it their way most of the time.
Interestingly I called Patton honda thay had a LX on ebay and they pro rated the EX that I wanted....the local guys can match it and there you go
Does anyone know what profit the dealer has,if any, when he sells a car for $22,091 including destination and doc fee?
So lets see if the dealership will play ball or not once we go in and consummate the deal
Just coming out is the new model Subaru 2009 Forester. Many sources speak highly of Subaru. This model seems competitive with the Honda 2008 CRV. Honda has succeeded because of its quality control and foreseeing of customer's desires.
Loaded vehicles only have more things to go wrong and warranties if available carefully avoid covering all those gadgets. One electric window can cost more than $300.
My reality check! With the history of our present world wide financial crisis and having experienced such in the past, I'd only buy new within my price range and needs. We're in for a rough ride and everyone should recognize one's own limits to survive.
Looking at the daily unemployment, foreclosure, bankruptcy, Bears Stearn figures... then I pull in my belt and live within my financial reality... and I know I'll be all right.
Using this blog for information is our gift to one another.
It seems nobody interested in LX.
For new car, I check the dmv website. Title is $15, tag is $24. I don't know why they charge $74 for title/tag. Is there anything else we need to do? :confuse: :confuse: :confuse:
^^ words of wisdom right there
Happy to see that the patton lead got you somewhere, you are welcome !
^^ no your welcome
I think after speaking to another dealer their holdback portion is sacred and would not go lower, holdback is $450 and would be their profit so I think that is fair espacially for a vehicle like a CRV...Oh and I think the LX is just fine and probably the best "value" but we wanted a few bells,or my wife did!
Good deal or not ???? fyi-tax is 6%.
Here is the breakdown:
base price+dest:23684
appearance group:85
Dealer processing fee:389
6% tax:1449
lemon fee:3
title:18
tag:21

"NOT Recommended for Purchase" for everyone who wants to read unbiased, honest comparisons. :lemon:
I,m sure Toyota and Honda are recommended both.
We drove the Rav4 and found it ok interior just average, the Honda felt just more substantial.
I can put my set of clubs width wise in the back without too much problem. I use a stand bag and with my driver in the bag it fits with about a 1/2" to spare (standard length driver), but only at the very back of the cargo area. Any further forward and there is a jog inward which does not leave enough width to fit clubs. You could probably stack two bags on top of each other if necessary though at the back. As far as putting two carts and two set of clubs in you would likely have to put the back seats down.
As far as the roof rack goes, I would be concerned about putting anything too long up top. My reason being that the distance between the cross bars is not adjustable and they are not very far apart. So for long items, you end up with a lot of over hang beyond the front and back of bars. I have an 8' surfboard that I put on my rack and I wouldn't go any longer than that. BTW - with that long of a load you can only open the back hatch about half way before hitting what is on the roof. If you want information on installing a Yakima rack on CRV search for one of my old posts.
All this being said, I love my CRV. It does exactly what I bought it for - very good handling in wet, snowy conditions, provides okay milage for commuting (24 mpg over 5k miles of mixed driving) and provides decent utility for my activities - golf, hockey, surfing, biking. I surf in the winter and one of the key considerations for me was to have a vehicle that has enough room in the back to change and CRV fits the bill.
Bottom line: CRV does a lot of different things well, not necessarily great. You will need to decide what is more important - high milage, superior utility or some sort of compromise on both. IMO I think the CRV falls in the middle zone which works perfectly for me. (I've owned civics, odyssey and an Isuzu trooper, so I've been at both ends of the spectrum).
Good luck.
Also, did I pay a good price?
The F& I Dept of every dealership, every make, pushes this overpriced add-on junk. You could have used dealer financing and just said "no" to all the other stuff. Can't blame this on Honda -- you didn't do your homework.
Seriously you gotta do your homework, you cant let your guard down especially with F and I.
