I just bought my new EX-L this evening and found out the floor mats that come with the car are so cheap and thin. I was expected it is a good quality and at least with a CRV or HONDA mark on it.

Thats about the quote that I received too here in So.Cal....what did you end up with?? I am looking at the CRV 2WD EX-L....also, does anyone here in So. Cal know if the license plate brackets for the front plate come with the car?? I heard that this is extra!
We will be ordering our car as soon as we decide on a dealership. I am looking at service hours and days.
    thanks

I just purchased the CRV EX AWD.
My vin number starts with 3CZRE... is this mean that my car was manufactured in Mexico??
Made in mexico is worse than made in US or Japan??

I didn't know until my friend said that vin number starts with 3 is from Mexico.
I won't get the car until my check is approved, because I am a foreigner.

Do you guys think that I can cancel my payment?
I already signed all the documents...

    Thanks.

If I were getting a CRV I'd want it to be made in Japan. I didn't think they were made in Mexico, but just for the record, I had a Ford Escort previous to my Forester, and it was made in Mexico. It was a great car.

I agree.......I have 07 awd navi and the car mats are crap. I have beige interior with beige mats...hello.......dh went out and got me rugged plastic rubbery ones from autozone.

Yes, crv's are now being made in other areas. MY sticker clearly said Japan and that actually meant something good to me. Sorry to all you die hard made in North America fans ;)

This is for the 2wd CRV EX. I got the quote from the internet dept. at Gillman Honda. I haven't bought it yet....I am waiting for my clean machine voucher to come in, lol. I am planning on using it for my down payment--which will take care of taxes.

I am going to purchase honda crv-ex awd in NoVA, and through reading the post in the forum, i saw a very good post who purchased from Sport Honda at a very low price (even lower than i initially planned).

i contacted one of internet sales manager to get a price quote and if it matched my budget, i will drive up to Sport Honda tomorrow (monday).

If there is any one who is interested in "team" buy, please send me email ingolla2@gmail.com, for more discussion.

I was told by the dealer that if I install a car alarm somewhere other than dealer, my CRV warranty will be void. I am wondering if it is true. Because what they charge for the car alarm is so expensive - $499. I believe I can get a good one installed under $200 out there. Any comment?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,337
They can't void your warranty for putting in an after-market alarm.

However, if the alarm causes a problem, then they won't cover that problem. Now, an alarm isn't going to cause an exhaust or suspension problem, but they could blame just about any electrical system problem on it (legitimate or not).

Any way... What do you need an alarm for? The car already comes with an ignition immobilizer..

They said the CRV has a very sensitive electrical system and if that alarm cause any problem with that system, it will void the warranty.
I know it comes with immobilizer, but I also know that some people can only use a wire to bypass it and start the engine. I want an alarm because I want if someone try to break the window or open the door, it will siren and scare off the intruder.
  • fleetfleet Member Posts: 3
The 2008 CR-V comes with an alarm. It doesn't have a motion sensor but if anyone opens a door the horn will go off. It's probably not the best security system, but at least you don't pay anything additional for it. I wouldn't mess with adding an additional alarm. If anything electrical goes wrong, they could blame the aftermarket alarm for it. Imagine if they throw that at you if an airbag light comes on... :(

Never knew about the program. Too bad I didn't ship my 18-year old car from Florida to Texas. I found it difficult to get a decent price for a Honda car, what is the best price other ppl are getting?

PS, I suppose your price is the sale price (includes destination fee, excludes tax, document fee, etc.)
  • harmonychicharmonychic Member Posts: 9
Yes, that does include destination fee but not the other stuff you mentioned.
  • blueiedgodblueiedgod Member Posts: 2,798
I want an alarm because I want if someone try to break the window or open the door, it will siren and scare off the intruder.

A professional thief will disable the alarm before it even had a chance to go off. It is only annoying to the neighbors, but does nothing to protect your car.

It is very difficult to steal a vehicle protected by an immobilizer chip. However, it is very easy to get the imoobilizer chip mimiced and the key cut to the VIN number displayed on your dashboard.

So, the only proven way to protect your vehicle is to have proper insurance converage, because no matter what you do, if a thief wants to take your car, they will take it. They can just lift it up with a tow truck in broad daylight while you are at work, and no one will know that they are thieves and not parking enforcement.

Up your insurance coverage by the amount you would spend on the alarm and sleep tight at night. :)

    Dear Bobby,
'Very interested in your deal with Freemont Honda, Can I ask you if it was a LX or a EX and could you choose the color. I assume you got a AWD? Also would you give a breakdown of the dealer fees. I am interested in one and will be in the market once I have sold my 05 Focus ses wagon.I was there the other day and was offered a '08 EX 2wd for $22,000. They low-balled me on my above trade ($6,500!) so I walked!. However i would go back, once thats sold.
    Thanks Mart.

    Bobby350z,

The price when you ripped the check ($21,395.13) , is that for the EX 4WD or just plain LX 2WD? I have yet to see a good deal like that. You must be very lucky.

I'm a CA native as well and noticed that the the dealers there are willing to drop the prices. Just moved to MD here and the dealers don't seem to care about your business as much.
  • martinturnermartinturner Member Posts: 17
Sorry cc150, I wrote to the wrong guy! (Bobby). I will be going to Dublin when I'm ready to buy as I live in Oakland. Thats the lowest price I've seen.

    Hi harmonychic,

I paid 22k+200 (documnetation fee) on CRV EX 2WD with cloth interior. So if u are getting for $22386 then it seems to be good price in houston. I purchased my car from Fenton Honda at Ardmore, OK. This city is 100 miles from Dallas. So you can decide now.

    thanks

Ok guys.. just wanted to update you on my experience. I finally bought one in TN. got it for 19800 + Tax + title .totalling to approx 21,400 .The dealer threw in the splash guard and the rugged All season CR-V mat for free- Real nice ones compared to the standard carpet
  • smackldogsmackldog Member Posts: 82
Consider getting the Honda CR-V all-season rubber mats (or equivalent such as the ones from WeatherTech) which will go a long way in keeping your interior cleaned. I actually bought the Honda all-season mats for the CR-V and rather than removing the carpet mats, I just put them right on top. No movements (since the rubber mats have spiked tips at the bottom) or interferences with the pedal.

Wow , looks like you got a great price, I was also looking in NY what dealer did you buy from?

    Re: Insurance

It's also a good idea to get "Gap Insurance Coverage" if it is available in your area.

This will provide additional protection in the event that your vehicle is stolen or totalled and you owe more on the vehicle than the book value at the time of loss.
Given the initial rapid depreciation on the value of new vehicles, it's something to consider.

Hi gang, I got a CPO 2005 CR-V ES Leather heated seats, 40,000 miles for $19,000 today (New Jersey). This is my first honda and I wanted to make sure I got a decent deal. Have any of you guys bouth a CPO recently, how much did you pay? I want to make sure I got a decent deal. I research Autotrader and even ebay and the price for a 2005 CPO ES with leather was around 22k and 19K. They also gave me 3,500 for my truck which was almost dying (retail price was somewhat in the low 2K, they gave me 3,500).

Thanks in advance for your input.

It looks good to me. You got several hundred bucks lower than invoice.

I'm searching CRV too, what is this dealer? Can you share this info? Thanks and good luck!

    Hello,

I'm looking to buy a CRV EX-L AWD w/o Nav in Central New Jersey area. Have received a couple of quotes, but they are much above the invoice price. The initial quotes are basically around the MSRP including the destination charge. Does anybody know any good dealers in this area? Any guidance is much appreciated! Thanks!
  • kokopuffskokopuffs Member Posts: 5
I just got my 08 EXL 4WD w/o navi at Schaumburg Honda in Schaumburg, IL. I used the pricing spreadsheet, which said 4% over dealer cost. The spreadsheet said $25,200 without destination MSRP $27,335). I got mine for $25,365. The issue was over holdback, they wouldn't negotiate more than $300 off holdback. I would have held out for the extra $165, but they had to bring in the silver w/gray leather because no one in the area had it. They other choices were tan, green and white which I wasn't interested in. Grand Honda said they would do $25,000 but when I got there they tried the ole "we don't have that one, and if you want the silver with gray it will be $500 more to bring it in". Honda of Lisle quoted me $25,995 over the internet, but they were much farther away and would have had to order the silver or bring it in for an additional cost.

I bought a 2005 Accord from them as well, so the entire deal took 45 minutes with test drive. No bs, only one trip to the sales manager. Then when I went to pick it up, the finance end was 30 minutes tops, no sales pitches, no pressure for gap insurance (I had more than 20% down anyway) and they came down on the 7yr/100K warranty with $100 ded. Hondacuraworld.com was $805 and they did $840. They wanted $1400 something. :shades:

Oh yeah, I forgot. Mine was made in Japan. I almost dumped through the roof at the dealership when I got there to pick it up and saw the "J" vin number on the paperwork ;)
  • ivicaivica Member Posts: 34
From all the research I've done it appears that all the EXL come from Japan. Good luck. I've heard the Japan ones are made better.

    Regards
  • phisherphisher Member Posts: 175
If you do get gap insurance it is better to get it through your insurance Co. It is about 1/10 the the cost in my case and just added to your monthly insurance payment and not into the loan. :)
  • howellyehowellye Member Posts: 2
if your price includes extended warranty ($800), it is a pretty good deal. Probably I'll go there for the same car.
  • kokopuffskokopuffs Member Posts: 5
No it does not include the warranty. The warranty is above and beyond the cost of the car and is negotiated totally separate. You wont get a warranty there for that price unless you find it online, print it out and take it in. Plus they won't go that low on the price of the car unless you get a written quote from another dealership. I had a written quote and the pricing spreadsheet.

Maybe in 8-9 months you could do a better deal (the price of the car) without backup, but not now. They are having no issues moving the CR-V's, so good luck negotiating. I lucked out because I had purchased there before from the same salesman.

I'm getting ready to buy a 2008 CR-V FWD EX-L, no navi from Tampa Hondaland. The MSRP is $26135 and they willing to sell at $24303, a little below invoice.

    Good luck.
  • martinturnermartinturner Member Posts: 17
Is that 'out the door' or plus dealer fee's? and could you have the color of your choice!
If it's plus fees could you give a breakdown of them when you have done the deal?. I want to see how they compare with dealer charges in C.A. Thanks
  • jjohnson085jjohnson085 Member Posts: 53
The out the door price I got from another dealer today is $25061, any color as far as I know. I'm probably going to shoot for $25050 and call it a day.

My new CRV EX-L FWD has NO under seat storage bin on passenger side, and the headlight always on with reduced brightness, anyone has the same model with the same problem?

The front lights on are DRL (Daytime Running Lights), and are on for safety.....look it up in your manual.

Hey guys--quick update--Okay, I am going to be able to get the ex for 22k. But here's the deal---I am only getting it for this price b/c all that dealership has is green in the ex. Salesmen from various dealerships have told me that they get very few of the black in ex--WHAT'S UP WITH THAT? So, I can either settle for a color I am not so hot on and hope I learn to love it or I can go in all the way and get the EX-L, which will cost me 25,996 ttl......Thoughts...anyone?
    harmony :)

Just bought a 2007 CRV-EX AWD last week in san jose, ca for 22850.
Was just wondering if I got fair price. Not losing sleep over whether i could've gotten a better deal, just curious. Drives great.
  • hockeyfoolhockeyfool Member Posts: 30
The good news is you just bought a great vehicle. The bad news is you paid too much. You paid about $600 more than I paid for my 2008 EX AWD ($22,200 includes destination).

You should have been able to do much better especially since it is a 2007.

Picked up a Glacier Blue EX AWD for my wife on Friday. Thanks to everyone who has been posting here, it was very helpful in our search.
    Here's our info:
Started out by getting quotes from 15 dealers in the in Eastern PA area. They varied between $23,400 and $24,985 (including dest.). Yes, there are dealers out there trying to get OVER sticker. Most common reason given was that it was a hard to find color and they would have to do a dealer trade. Anyway, I called them all back and gave them the opportunity to beat my best price. Repeated process to eliminate those not willing to play. That got me to 3 salesmen ready to go to $23,200. Ended up going to the dealer that is between my wife’s work and our home because they seemed less shady that the other two. Incidentally, they would have gone to $23,100 for any other color but black or the blue we were looking for. Had at least one of every other color on the lot, lots of EXLs, not one FWD in LX EX or EXL trim. Deal went down on 1/30/08, so we had to wait for a dealer trade or till they got it in. Worked out that they had one come in on the truck on 2/4, but we couldn’t make it back to pick up until 2/8.
    $23,200 price paid
    $1,392 PA sales tax
    $175.15 tags and doc fees

    $24,767.15 out the door

The dealer also threw in wheel locks as a gift – already installed. Other “extras” from the dealer – lifetime inspections, free loaner car for all service, engine guarantee for as long as we own the car and free tires for as long as we own the car.
  • amukherjeeamukherjee Member Posts: 3
Yes, it is a fantastic vehicle. At end of November 2007, I paid $22246.00 for 2008 CRV EX AWD from one of the Massachusetts Honda dealers.
