Have you tried Gunn Honda in San Antonio?
  • godeacsgodeacs Member Posts: 481
Really? Tell me how the specs are significantly different. Def not worth the extra $$$ - esp since Toyota sticks on all these regional fees and packages, unlike the CR-V.
  • godeacsgodeacs Member Posts: 481
In addition to Gunn Honda, I'd check Gillman Honda too...just up I-35 north of San Antonio.

I am in NJ as well and looking at the same car and trim level...can you tell me where you got the 25k price and what do you mean out the door..what is included that price (sales tax? registration ?)

Thanks for your quick response..I guess I was not looking at the same model..I am looking at 4WD...so I can compare can you tell me how much they discounted the car? for example did you pay invoice or less than invoice and if so by how much,,and also in what town is Gillman Honda
  • djnephdjneph Member Posts: 16
    Hey Guys,

I contacted Gunn Honda in San Antonio as you recommended and they offerred:

    09 EX $21,998+TTL.

I have contacted Gillman as well and waiting to see what they say.
  • r1108r1108 Member Posts: 4
I do not remember right off the top of my head but I think the price was 19800+ with 1200 + for taxes and the remainder for documentation + title + inspection and a couple of other things. It added all upto 21200. The guy in finance tried to sell me extended warrenty for upto 75K miles but I opted out of it.
I bought my car at Gillman Honda of Houston.

First When I went there the sales manager offered to sell the car at Edmunds TMV price which was al round competitive but then a week later reduced like 500 more of the total cost.

1st quote was 21808 out of door
2nd was 21300 out of door
I got it for 21200 out of the door.

  • fmb0214fmb0214 Member Posts: 2
Just got offered an all-in price of $23,400 on an all-wheel drive EX. Seems ok based on the TMV. Anyone else seeing anything substantially less than that?
  • djnephdjneph Member Posts: 16
The Prices I have recieved are for 2wd EX (not looking for AWD).

    Round Rock Honda - $22,225+TTL
    Gunn Honda - $21,995+TTL
  • godeacsgodeacs Member Posts: 481
No word from Gillman, eh? If you live in the SA area I'd go with Gunn....the "no haggle" process and they way they treat is 1st class. You will pay for saving the $250 if you have to drive up to RR in gas, traffic, and probably the way you'll get treated at the dealer.

Hope it works out well for you..... :)

I recently purchased a glacier blue 2WD EX-L with Navi (northern California) through a broker and paid the following:

    $25,549 base
    $55 document preparation
    $1,985 sales tax
    $28 DMV filing fee
    $224 license fee
    $9 tire fee
    ____________
    $27,850 out-the-door

Seems like a good price and beat any of the internet quotes, which ranged from $28,100 to $29,300 out-the door.

    Doffer,
I want that same car. Can I get the name and number of your broker? I too live in Cal.

I think you got a great price.

    Thanks, Matt

Hi, looking to buy a CRV, with leather seats, FWD, no navigation in the Miami Dade - Broward area, does any one have price and experience with a dealer.
    Thank you.
  • rebcrvrebcrv Member Posts: 3
That is a good price. Using the USAA car buying service, based in Alameda county, their price for a 2WD EX-L with navi is $25,903. I found I could negotiate about 200 less than that price when I was looking. I still haven't found the best deal so I haven't bought yet, but the best I was offered was $25703, at Dublin Honda, and the rest would match it.

    Matt,

The broker I used is CLINTON LEASING AND SALES located in SACRAMENTO, CA. According to the rules in this thread I'm not able to provide names, numbers or other contact information. However, if you do an Internet search, you should should be able to locate it. They've been in business since 1979 and a small family company (2 or 3 people work there). I told them the Internet quotes that I had received and they were able to find a better price. Not sure if that happens on all purchases; however, not having to deal with the dealer BS and completing the deal in about 30 minutes was well worth it to me. Good luck!

22600 + state tax and $24 tag; vehicle w/o any accessories (no splash guards etc)
Westside Honda Knoxville TN on Feb 28, a cold and wet evening.

Sent out 20 other inquiries via Edmunds quick quote to dealerships within 350 mile radius (created a spreadsheet for replies)...specific vehicle wanted, low double digit miles, no trade in, want to close deal within one week, have financing but pls quote APR for best credit score.

Gave some dealerships the opportunity to clarify/detail their quote, and all were given a 'last chance before I walk'.

Other than Westside, best/final offers came from most dealerships in GA, and one in Mobile AL...in the 23,200 to 23,400 range (total cost before tax/tag), depending on + - splash guards or pin stripes. Dealerships refused to move from this price range.

Also contacted my previous home town in northern OH, where the price was initially as in ATL, but last call reduced to 22,900 w/splash guards.

All this was done via email.

I called 3 or 4 dealers in the general ATL area to give them a chance to come close to Knoxville TN, before making the drive. None could/would come close, with a few calling me late, in TN, apparently assuming I wasn't making the drive.

Called Westside in Knoxville TN to ensure the numbers were as quoted, and to let them know to prep the vehicle. The deal was closed pleasantly and w/o any surprises. In addition, Westside replaced my 4.79% 5 yr credit union financing with a 4.3% APR from Bank of America. They also had no problem taking a quick look at my old vehicle, making me a trade in offer (although this was - as expected - too low).

Why the price was lower than others??? To those who are looking in ATL GA area...23,000 to 23,300 for a CRV EXL 2 WD is apparently the going price, depending on accessories. $500 incentive still in effect. Good Luck!!!

Is the $25K inclusive of destination + TTL? I was just offered $24,600 before destination + TTL by a NJ dealer for an 09 EX-L AWD w/o navi. It's better than I've seen in my local area and live about 4 hours away. I'm thinking of doing it. Thoughts?

I think you def can do better.... I was offered $24133 at planet honda....but I ended up gonig through flexilease.com and he is giving me the car for $25k out the door taxes included.....you might want to try them they can get you any car color a lot cheaper then a dealership....
  • sc75188sc75188 Member Posts: 12
my husband is a mechanic and they do a lot of work with flexilease.com so he gave me a quote of $25k out the door taxes everything... i went to other dealerships to make sure that was a good deal and the cheapest I could get out the door was over $27k since nj has sales tax at 7% which is higher then most states.. you might want to try them out and you might be able to get it around or a little higher then my offer I got.

I live in upstate New York and was quoted a price of $ 25,499 for a 2009 Honda CRV (AWD EX-L without the Nav. System.) This is just off the sticker and doesn't include taxes, tags or fees. I haven't talked trade or anything else yet. Is this a good price to start working with or should I look for more off the sticker? 25,499 is below Edmunds TMV price for my area. Please help. And does anyone know how much wiggle room there is on the installed prices for after market accessories. The three Honda dealers in my area all have different installed prices on their sheets. Please help!

Offer him 24,600 - 500 = 24,100 that should make it. My buddy got the offer 24,600 before the 500 rebate.

A reporter is looking to speak to consumers who purchased a larger vehicle but had considered a smaller vehicle when gas prices were high. Or if you're holding off on buying a small car because of the downturn in the economy. Please send your daytime phone number to ctalati@edmunds.com by Thursday, March 19, 2009.

Got an offer for $24350 + tax and fees on a brand new 2008 EX-L 2WD w/Nav. Thinking about taking the deal and signing the contract tonight. From the posts I've seen, sounds like its a really good one for Northern CA (SF Bay Area). Any thoughts out there?

    Thanks!

Hi guys, want to post my first exprience with HONDA dealer on CRV LX AWD 09 model in northeast Ohio. I am waiting for your comments, because I am not sure about the price he offered me.

I told the dealer that i am looking for CRV-LX 09 AWD model for buying. First I had the test drive which made me feel good about the car. Because they only have three colors for LX, I chose "Glacier Blue". Then we came to the price bargin process.

At first, the dealer told me the MSRP is $23,115, and he can give me 694 incentive, but because the car has mudguard and nitrogen gas I need to pay $938 more for that. so plus tax and the documentation fee, my final price will be $25425.

I of course cannot accept that price. i asked for their dealer invoice price but the dealer refused. Then he offered that I do not have to pay $938 for the accessories (mudguard and nitrogen gas), but still I do not think it is a deal. Plus the finiancing APR rate they gave me was 6.99%. OMG, I think it is too high, even though I did not finance a car before but 6.99%??? NO!!!!

So I decided to go to see other dealers but the dealer really wanted to win my business that day. So he agreed to give me discount on his invoice price. Their invoice price is $22,165, and he has to have at least $100 profit, and I need to pay $938 for the accessories, and plus tax and the documentation, this new price is not attracting also. I offered 21,000 as my finaly OTD price but he did not accept.

Finanlly I decided to go and the dealer seemed that he may accpet $22,000 as OTD but had to ask for his manager. Since it is my first time to deal with a dealer and I do not want to be confused so I did not wait for him to get the manager. Plus still I think 6.99% APR is too high.

What do you guys think? Do the accessories really cost $938? and are they worthy? and if the dealer can give me $22,000 as OTD, is it a deal? How can I argue with them to get a lower APR?

Bought yesterday a silver/black EX-L AWD for $25,200 + $399 dealer fee at a 4.84% loan for 60 mos. Dealer threw in cargo mat and matching tint on front windows. Best part was that dealer offered $2,000 more on our trade-in (2007 Outback wagon) than any dealer in the Denver area (where I live). One deanver dealer did offer on the CR-V $25,125, but had a $599 dealer fee. This is exactly what I went through 4+ years ago when we bough an Ody ... all the Denver dealers, who are far closer to us in terms of distance, offered at prices higher than the CS dealer and then when I showed them the CS dealer's numbers they threw up their hands (one actually said, "I don't know how they are doing it!"). So we drove down to CS and they honored everything they said in their e-mail - including the trade-in price on a car they hadn't even seen. I love those guys. As far as we can tell, the car and deals are fine and we are pleased.

One dealer is at 21,875 + doc ($151) including the 500 rebate. What is the best way to find out if this is a good deal or to find out how much lower I can get the price. I'm just deciding what dealer to go to right now.
  • funguy123funguy123 Member Posts: 94
    Godeacs,

You are correct, normally RAV4 is little expensive. But Toyota is offering $2000 off of their Value Package. And $750 rebate. So almost 3K back. That makes RAV4, LTD, V4 same (or less) than CR-V EX-L.

Again, I like honda products but as of today there is a clear winner (RAV4) unless you like CR-V's shape and style. I like both shape.

Also don't forget RAV4 comes with "Smart Key", which Honda does not have.

    Hi.

    Is this a good deal?

    20500.00
    670.00 freight
    1246.20 tax
    89.00 title/tax
    280.00 license fee
Includes gap, free accessories (molding, mud guards, wheel locks), lifetime warranty on the powertrain, and 500 trade-in (car's very old).

    Thank you.
  • denver5357denver5357 Member Posts: 319
Not sure what your basis is for claiming a clear winner. If, for example, you like responsive steering and road feel, the CR-V is better.

If you are talking about price only, that's just part of the equation. Some people would say that one of the vehicles is a better value over the other even at a greater cost of $3,000. We tested both and we didn't view them as even. But that's our opinion. :)

    OHBAOBEI:

Suggest you use the Edmunds 'quick price quote' and send out a half dozen or more requests (for DETAILED cost breakdown before tax/title) to areas you are willing to drive to. Use the comment box to tell them NO trade in, accessories, etc.

For example, Jim White Honda and Brown Honda of Toledo OH are very competitive...just got a quote a couple weeks ago that beat anything I rec'd in GA, AL, northern FL. Bought two of my last three Hondas in Toledo...flew in, drove back

Give everyone a 'last chance/call' to improve the price one you have all the reponses in.

Ask about financing...Westside Honda TN, via Bank of America provided me with 4.3% APR...excellent credit score...beat my credit union's 4.75%...3 wks ago.

Do all your shopping via email...ask for clarification if quotes are 'muddy'

p.s. mud flaps/splash guards are an approx. $90 item. Good Luck.

Hi! I was wondering how much more aggressive I can be for negotiating the price of a new '08 model? The dealership has over 70 2009 models and almost 40 2008 models in stock. Initial internet quotes for the '09 ($19,500) are around invoice price. I was quoted a price that is about $700 less for an equivalent '08 model. This is without any haggling. I know I will haggle to the limit regardless but I was wondering how much less should I be shooting for since it is an older model? How much more leverage do I have in getting the '08 heavily discounted?
  • denver5357denver5357 Member Posts: 319
Octopos ... if your credit union offers no or a low fee to refi, consider going back to them for a refi on that loan to see if you can get an even lower rate. As I posted above, I got 4.9 from the cu but then 4.84 on site from the dealer. When I told the cu this after buying the car with dealer financing, they cu offered 4.5 for 60 months (4.25 for 48 months).

It would have been nice if they had given me that 4.5 last week before buying the car, but at least for the refi I can get lower. I was surprised they went lower.
  • ohbaobeiohbaobei Member Posts: 19
    Hi octopops,

Appreciate your suggestions. So basicly, you just negotiate the price with the internet seller? I did sent out some quote requests and got the price. Just have no clue that am I should continue negotiate with them? can we also ask the dealer invoice price or something like that? It is different from talking with real person.

Plan to get a Honda CR-V LX AWD at 21,000 plus tax and documentation fee. I know it is not a deal but I do not want to spend more time on searching. total otd is $22976.88
  • ohbaobeiohbaobei Member Posts: 19
by the way, I got 4.74% APR for 60 month, my finance amount is 17976.88, the monthly pay is 339.32. But I think they calculate this wrong. Because originally I got 5.15% for APR and the finance amount is 18158, the monthly pay is 344.2. How come my rate is lower and the price is lower, but monthly pay is less than 5 dollars? Is there a way that I can double check it? Thank you,

Appreciate the info here. Here's price paid this weekend in the Sacramento, CA area.

    Price - $23,650
    Tax (CA) - $1837.14
    Lic/Reg - $249.75
    Doc fee - $55
    Total = $25,791.89

Bought from Carmichael Honda in Citrus Heights. Pleasure to deal with. Smoothest car buying experience I've had.

    Hello Everyone,
I'm new to the boards and wanted to get your thoughts on a good price to shoot for in future negotiations for this car:

-2009 CRV EXL 4wd (no navigation) with backup sensor, body side molding & roof rack

Also, have any of you had a salesperson attempt to inflate the price by adding "installation charges"? I have asked several people and no one has ever had a dealer charge them for installation of the accessories when buying a new car.
Any info would be most helpful and much appreciated. Thanks!
