Good job on negotiating a great deal... I plan on using your figures to assist me on my leasing adventure! I'm not in a hurry to lock in my deal so time should be on my side?
Mahalo for the quick reply... Sounds like the new offer is the same as the old one?
Such a struggle point right now, here is the deal I got, 18.5K for 2008 LX AWD, just the car, tax, dmv fee, destination fee not include (Its a new crv, not used or demo car). Good Deal? I'm in SF bay area.
CRV is a good car. But the economics and oil price certainly do not favor CRV or whatever SUV's. You bought 2008 leftover, did you? That meas there are more supplies than buyers and people are trying to save money everywhere. Check out the stock market this week. I have lowered my target from Lexus to Honda. Now it may need to go as low as Hyundai.
I compared the CRV EX-L to the Hyundai Santa Fe Limited and quite frankly after test driving both vehicles there was no comparison. The Santa Fe is a far better vehicle in both specs and actual driving. I ended up purchasing the Santa Fe Limited on Dec. 31, 2008 for $22K + TTL for an OTD price of $23,018. I could not be happier with my decision.
Believe me I wanted the CRV to be the better vehicle especially after reading all of the customer reviews but after test driving, the CRV had a lot of road noise and just felt more budget and utilitarian. The Santa Fe also included fog lights, roof racks, 6 cylinder engine, ability for manual shifting, heated windshield wipers, auto lights, auto dimming mirror with home link, mud flaps, longer warranty, etc. for a lower price. The only area the CRV excels is with gas millage. I get 25mpg during trips loaded down with 4 occupants and luggage and average around 19-20 in the city. The CRV gets better milliage no question but it has a 4 cylinder engine.
The Santa Fe drives very smooth and quite and feels like the Lexus RX350 for a substantially lower price. I also like the fact that there are fewer Santa Fe's than CRV's on the road. In my neighborhood, I counted 20 CRVs and only 2 Santa Fe's so I don't feel like a clone.
In both January and February 2009, Hyundai increased sales over the same period last year which says a lot to me. The bottom line is everyone has their own opinion but my opinion is the Santa Fe Limited is a far superior vehicle than the CRV EX-L.
Good luck with your choice.
There are some reasons why that many CRV vs Sante Fe on the road. 1 of it is to compare their resale value after 3-4 yrs. usage.
Can I do any better, if so which area should I negotiate. I'm a single mom and this will be my first new car purchase.

I will be trading in a 2001 Honda CRV LX 4wd. I'm not sure I will use the same dealership to do a trade in or not, thoughts?
If yes, it is a great deal.
My trade in is a 4WD
I feel like such a rube when buying a car and just have this horrible feeling that I'm always getting taken advantage of.
Thanks
Eric
Lowest offer I got so far is $23,760.00 (includes destination & handling) + TTL. Is this a good price? What price range should be considered "reasonable" for now?
Also, how much is the "invoice" price for a dealership to install a remote starter?
Thanks everyone!
Previously I got a price 18.5 K for 2008 LX AWD from them, at that moment, they say they this price is including destination fee, but I guess its probably not true. But the 19,170 is still sounds like a good deal for me. So I drive 30 mi to them and find out they don't have it in stock. Then they try to sell me 2009 LX 4wd. Starting form 21,000, they do hard sell and I do hard defense. Finally we end up with 20, 400 (car + Des) and 1350 for accessories (roof rack + whole backup sensor system + body side modeling). I kind of getting upset about the game they play (use 2008 LX AWD as a hook) and its already 8:45pm, so I drop the offer and go home for typing my experience now. I don't know, is this is a doable price? Should I go for it? or do price match with other dealer? This is so hard~ Especially I don't speak good English. Please give me some advice.....Thanks in advance.
before Adm fee, TT&L.
I've read posts for the last 2 months, most of them only stated the OTD price. I am needing to compare prices before TTL.
Does anyone make any purchase for this model around OK / TX lately?? Please post, I really really need as much info. as possible to make my decision.
Thanks all.
Please clarify your informatin here. You are getting a '09 EX-L for $23,760 for base price, destination, document fee. All you need is to add tax, title, license. Please tell which dealership in which area. This price is lower than most posts here. Are you sure? Why are you still looking around?
$23,760 is the base price (inl. destination & handling fee). I don't know if this includes doc fees yet. Since I'm still waiting for the dealer's reply.
I'm still looking because that is only quoted as the "base price"! As you know, dealerships have ways of jacking up the price by adding so much balonies onto the car (aka, options).
I got this quote from VanderGriff (Arlington, TX) but I've heards horrid stories about them being sneaky.
Thanks all.
FYI, I was able to get a tea green 2009 EX-L for $25597 from Venice Honda out the door. A place in Tampa offered me lower prices (down to 25k out the door) for the remaining inventory the last weekend of February but they did not have the color we wanted. I worked about 8 different dealers and this was about as low as I could get them.
Peace
Dr Drew

I love Honda Products, I looked at the CR-V first and than RAV4. Here is what i think...
CR-V - 09: Less Power (166 HP), Engine (2.4 ltr), Lower MPG (27)
RAV4 - 08: Less Power (166 HP), Engine (2.4 ltr), Lower MPG (27)
RAV4 - 09: More Power (179 HP), Better Engine (2.5 ltr), Higher MPG (28)
2009 CR-V is same as 08 RAV4. Toyota has improved RAV4 -09 but Honda didn't? Why would I buy CR-V? Am I missing anything? Again, I like Honda product but from what I can tell RAV4 just blows away CR-V? Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Sam
You did have a very interesting point that RAV4 09 has a better mileage than CRV 09 even with a more powerful engine. However, from my prior experience Toyata dealership had terrible service departments. I fixed my car in almost every area. Sometime I got lazy and took it to a Toyata dealer, they would want to replace the items that I just replaced a few weeks ago. Have they improved?
I have also owned older Corolla and went to dealership couple of times and it wasn't too bad. It was like any other dealership i have been to. I didn't found them better or worst. So I guess, i wasn't really thinking about that. I was looking at two new small SUV and i don't really many good things about CR-V than RAV4.
Anyone else has any points to make here? I am really scratching my head on why I should even consider CR-V in the mix!!!!
Thank you for sharing your opnion. I am looking for 4 cyl. I was comparing 4 cyl RAV4 with CR-V. Sounds like RAV-4 may be more money (not sure how much $) but i wouldn't call is same specs since they are considerably different.
My friend bought 09 EX AWD at 22,700 (incl dest) + TT&L before incentive 500 in Dec 08. If take 500 off the price now should 22,200
I am sure you can get better than 23K
The choice is totally determined in personal feeling which one you feel better during test drive. Afterall you are the one to drive the car.
I don't think you can tell a difference re the little HP increase in 09 RAV-4 but 1 MPG is a saving though. Everyone's driving behavior is different so this is purely number game.
AWD 2009. Is this offer good or not?
Does anyone buy the same car recently? Could you share the info please?
1 MPG saving is not a big deal I agree. However, even a small horse power increase in RAV-4 is worth to look at. These two compact SUV's are known for lacking of torque. Now RAV-4 improves the engine torque. It will show a big difference in towing and carrying more loads. The last gen before 2005 of CRV has a big problem in transmission. I have not seen the newer CRV's have that problem, though the problem may just not appear at this time yet.
Any feeling as to how good of a deal this is?
Eric
The best I have on an 09 CR-V LX is $20,088+TTL.
I have been emailing many dealers from Waco/Killeen, Austin/San Marcos, and San Antonio.
