I am in NYC and I got quote from geico about $620 for 06 SE for six months. Pretty good price in NYC.($100/$300/$50-$500)
I checked out the installation instructions on HandA and decided which accessories I could install myself (cargo cover, splash guards, roof rack, cargo tray). Those that were too complicated for me to do (security system, tweeters) were installed by the dealer.
We found that the dealer with the best base price was the best on the accessories too. The range of prices for accessories was astounding.
Aftermarket is the answer for sure. Specially with accessories I want, they can be installed by myself.
But insurance wise ...sounds pretty decent.
Thanks!!
Dan
Why would you not one made in the summertime????
I got my hitch installed by the dealer for $350 including hitch, wiring harness and labor.
Very happy with the experience. Used FightingChance.com's information package and Fax method.
CarsDirect.com Price $ 23,971.00

Documentation fee(s) (not gov't. fee) $ 299.70
Taxable Total: $ 24,420.70
3.00% Sales tax $ 732.62
Subtotal with taxes: $ 25,153.32
Registration (title) and license fees† $ 46.00
FINAL PRICE $ 25,199.32
They car is awesome and they gave us the rear cargo mat and wheel locks without us ever asking. Oh, and it does not have the dreaded PTTR which I have been agonizing over ever since I started browsing the CR-V problems forum.
What city and state are you in? 3% sales tax? I paid 8.375% for sales tax.
BTW, what is delivery for $150?
The delivery charge was to drive the car from the selling dealership to our house 3 hours away.
Just bought our 2006 Sahara Sand Ex (20 miles, Japanese Vin, with wheel locks)
For $24,100 From Chriswell Honda in Germantown Maryland.
That came out as Vehicle + $550 Destination = $22,771.43
5% tax = $1138.57, Tags title etc = $190
OTD = $22,771.43 + $1,138.57 + $190 = $24,100.00
Chriswell appears to be a brand new location? (sparkling clean)
Very nice Service, low pressure. Much better experience than after
some other local dealers near me.
(Bait and switch, we don't have that color, you'll have to pay a premium to drive one down, it will have 125 miles on it !!, you will have to eat the installed accessories etc)
We originally went to Costco and their rates were $750 over inventory
(+ whatever preps they add on)
The UBS price is very close what we got, and appears to be about $280 over Inventory We did quote a UBS price number (but it was meant for another dealer)
So we may have done a little better with some stronger hageling
But it appears we are inventory + $280
MSRP - $1530 and Edmunds TMV - $947!
Hope this helps
Also have been busy buying quite a few aftermarket add-ons
Husky Rubber Mats and Cargo Liner and mudguards
Retractible Cargo cover
Sunroof and side window deflectors
2" inch Hitch, Lock and SS step
SS Nerf Side Bars
Looking for reasonabley priced SS Brush Guard,
wood dash overlays, Fog lights and possibly a spoiler.
(but the spoiler requires drilling and a special tool for the inserts)
Also looking for a better permanant Aux input for the stereo than the
cassette interphase (saw an Honda compat single disk MP3 but believe
it would disabled the internal 6? so IPOD etc is the way to go)
I'm splurging on the accessories as this is my retirement gift to myself.
Kenn
Gold lettering and gold exhaust tip looks nice too.
You haven't asked for my opinion but here it is anyway. Take some of the accessory money & get the best audio system (speakers, if not head unit too) you can buy. Again, in my opinion, the audio system is the only thing about our CR-V that I would upgrade.
My $.02
P.S. Gold badges & exhaust tip? Hahaha. That must be sarcasm.
I plan to get a 2006 V LX after a year thinking over the Element. My test drive last Saturday makes me confident that V is the one I'm gonna get next month. Even Element has better interior but V drives like a champ. The salesman said he can only give me $300.00 off of MSRP which is $20.095 if I can give $500 down that day, of course I didn't give him a dime. I plan to get internet quotes from 5 dealers in my area plus from carsdirect and costco. I wish it's not this complicated to buy a car or is this just the "art" of car buying? Here in Texas, Honda dealers seems to be arogan they brag about reliability etc etc, I know V sells like peanuts but I would rather let other car dealers to earn my business like Toyota or Subaru.
Thank's for the input, I will certainly do that, but again here in Texas, it's hard to get V slightly above invoice
Also was told at the Honda dealership that there may be some good incentives coming for the holiday season around thanksgiving..."Honda said they are going to get aggressive around thanksgiving w/incentives" How much teeth might be to this incentive? What might we be able to expect from Honda in incentives?
Thanks,
Brandon
As far as the $20,600 for an SE with 26k .. thats a pretty cheap price -except- for those big big miles .. it's only been on the road for 12/15 months, so it would make me wonder without the Carfax and a pro looking at it .. now if it had 5/7/9k it would be a steal .... you probably need to be lookin' on the new side ..
Terry.
Honda usually offers low interest rates, but you have to have perfect credit to qualify. If you FICO is bellow 700, and your income/expenses ratio is not good, might as well forget about it. These are public offers.
Honda also offers dealer cash, if a dealership sells let's say 100 vehicles in a given time period they get up to $1000 per vehicle. Some dealers, rather make the numbers with easy sales and will deal BELLOW invoice to get that cash. A good indicator what dealer cash is, www.carsdirect.com
One dealer emailed me saying"I just received a 2006 Honda CRV SE in Sahara sand.I can sell you this car for $25,477.00 including freight. Please contact me so we can put a deal together.I look forward to hearing from you."
So I forwarded the lowest quote from the another dealer and he emailed me back saying "If you will take the beige one I have in stock I will match the price you received from ***** of $23,599.00 plus freight, tags and tax.I lokk forward to hearing from you."
$1328 difference in less than an hour with two emails.
Most dealer is willing to beat or match the price so like others said get as many quotes you can get.
According to this forum, people are paying invoice plus $100 for SE which is about $24160.CR-V bumper to bumper warranty expires 36K unless you purchase Honca Care at the additional cost.(FYI,Honda Certified Used Cars come with a 7-year/100,000-mile)
If he refuses, get many internet quotes as you can and have him match it. Make sure you have car price including the destination,DMV fee, sales tax(if any) and DOC fee when you get price quote.Ask them there is any other fee before you make a deal.
$1328 difference in less than an hour with two emails."
I know all dealers play game, but they should know not everyone is stupid like they think. When I'm ready, I will do my business totally through the internet and I will not go to the dealer until the car is ready and go there to sign the paper.
I planning to buy one probably 2006 CRV-Ex.
I think your quote is awsome can you please provide me the dealer info and please let me know whether there was any bargain involved.
If possible please give me the sales person contact info too.
Thanks

Extended warranty (if you want one) should be @ $1000 (+/- $200 depending on where you are located/buying) for 84 month, 100K miles, $0 deductible.
Only difference between EX and SE is heated mirror/seat(which I like most),hard spare cover,body-colored bumpers, leather seat and unique color-pewter. That's it. and there is about $2000 difference in price.
So you need to make your mind on EX and SE.
If you can get invoice price for 2006, go for 06. Pretty good deal if you can get invoice price now.
You need to make sure that you get the car price including the destination, sales tax,DMV fee and DOC fee. Make sure there is no surprise fee at pick up. Like Mr.me3 said,if there is something else, just walk away.
If you decide to get the extended warranty, make sure it is HONDA CARE from honda. and be sure to compare price at www.curryhondacare.com www.collegehillshonda.com www.hondawarrantyinfo.com
NO.SE is better than EX. There is no difference between 05 and 06 except the price and powertrain warranty. Starting 06,powertrain warranty comes with 5 years or 60 months.
Like I said, you need to make your mind on EX or SE and go for 06 since there is only $400-$600 price difference.
I meant you need to get all those extra fee when you get price quote and if they add on something you did not want, just walk away.
The dealer makes more money if you finance through the dealer since they can charge you a bank fee and can play with interest rate. There is no special low interest from honda financial services now so pay cash or finance through direct lender or your bank/credit union and pay them as cash.
Trish
Of course it's powered! Why do you think that it isn't?
If you lose the battery, you can close it manually with the wrench- It comes with the tire jack,no extra charge.
I guess you have not testdrived any of them. Testdrive CR-V and subaru. You will be the one who will be driving next few years.
Drive both back to back. When you go to the Honda, look to the left of the steering wheel at the power roof controls.
Anyway, one thing you might want to note on the CR-V is that the rear legroom is really good - lots of room back there. Also the rear seats recline and move forwards and backwards - good for additional cargo space.
I shopped both Subie and Honda in 2003, both are good vehicles. Take the one that drives the best for you and meets your needs. Good luck.
