No dealers were coming down from the from the MSR of $21,595.
Added to that $550 D&H charge = 22,145
Add to that all the other federal & state charges,
it came to $24,035.10
I got the dealer to throw in the rubber floor and cargo mats, and front mud guards. And he gave me $300 for my 1995 Plymouth Voyager, with 165,000 miles on it, and a great thirst for antifreeze.
All in all, I am pleased with the car!!
N Michigan dealer has it in the lot for 3 months.
Does not want to negotiate below $19150 ( $550 D&H included), before Tax+Title+Doc fee.
Said price is $500 below invoice already.
Seams after 3 mo. there’re no customers in a hurry to buy it ( except me
This car will soon be 1 year old.
Shall I hope for a dealer discount below current, by Thxgiving w-end or X-mas??
Thanks for advice,
Dan

Not true. Invoice is $19,173 (including Dest.), so that price is only $23 below invoice. I got mine for $150 below invoice in March, so you should expect a much better deal.
Last day of the month is always best time to deal, when saleman is closing out his month.
I had a great 2000CRV which recently was tainted in a 3 alarm garage fire. Although my insurance company has not been able to gain access to the building as of yet, my gut feeling is to start looking for another CRV. I have my eyes on the 2006 EX with automatic trans and AWD on all 4 wheels. The Honda dealer I serviced my car with suggests leasing vs buying. She thinks I can get a monthly lease rate of $350.00 or less based on a 12000 mile/year 36 month lease. There would be an initial down payment Of approx $2700.00 which would consist of taxes, 1st month fee, $995.00 bank fee and the usual tags etc. I have always bought my cars however as the CRV's get better and better, it might be nice to be able to get a new one every 3 years. Would anybody have experience with buying vs leasing Honda CRV's?
Thanx
You can always buy a new CR-V, pay it off in three years, sell it yourself, and buy a new one.
In most cases, I think you are better off financing a new CR-V...

I think Leasing a car with very high resale value, like a Honda is a waste of time. You will be better off financing it for 60 months and then selling at at 36 months. You will almost always end up on top this way, rather than leasing. With leasing, whatever you would have made on the deal goes to the leasing company, because they HAVE to make money.
Here is my deal, I bought a 2005 CR-V EX 5 MAN for $20,500, financed at 2.9% ARP for 60 months, my payments are $365/month. I am only $15 more than the lease they offered you, but I had no out of pocket expenses except for $1500 or so in taxes (8.25% rate).
Lease: $350*36+$2700=$15,300 nothing to show for in 36 months
Finance: $365*36+$1500=$14,640 + the car + the resale. A 3 year old CR-V 5 MAN with 36,000 miles is $15,800 - $16,700 (trade-in to private party) and $18,200 for certified (add $450 for AUTO). According to my amortization table, by month 36 I only owe $8557. So, $15,800-$8557=$7,243 in my pocket, if I sell the car. Do you want to give the leasing company $7000? I will take it if you want to just give it away.
Thank You all
BTW, you paid $1,000 below invoice? Wow, congrats!
When would leasing make sense? That 2006 GLI is looking nicer and nicer, so I was thinking that maybe with a lease...

If I remember correctly, you bought yours about the same time (last week of March). Honda had dealer cash at the time, so I actually overpaid by $500. But that was fine with me. 2.9% APR was just the icing on the cake.
Why do you want a VW? Leasing domestics, Korean and some European brands (when the incentives are right) is a good idea. There was a deal on BMW 325 a couple years back, no money down, $299/month for 36 months. That was a good lease. Usually leases are more expensive than financed purchase, because dealers can hide more money in the lease with the fancy wording. I almost leased an Accord once, but the dealer was not flexible. For some odd reason he stated that he could not negotiate cap cost on a lease. He kept on saying that for the lease to work Cap cost has to be MSRP. I told him "Good bye". I calculated that I could get Accord EX (4 cyl, 5 MAN) for the advertized featured lease price on the Accord LX (4 cyl, Auto).
Just walked in a received a quote of $20,510. I did a double take to be sure I heard right. Said that I was going to go check out the Rav 4 Salesman laughed and said I would be back.
2005 RAV 4 4WD basic was quoted as $21,500. Guess the salesman was doing his homework!
Should I go back...or do you think I can do better?
This was in central New Jersey
Invoice is $24060 so you need to get a lot of price quote.
Maybe there is special interest rate from honda financial service in spring. But Who knows?
so financing with lower rate is not an option,go for it now before it snows
Had 5.6%/60 mos financing pre-approved through Bank of America-- the dealer negotiated their own deal with B of A and told me they could give me 5.34% for 60 mos.
Think I'm going to go with this -- will pick up on Friday.
I don't have honda's all season floor mats but just bought weathertech's liner. It is pretty nice and no gap between carpet and liner except the hold in the middle.
Splash guard was installed less than 4 minutes by myself.
Don't forget to buy wheel lock!
Andy
That depends on your neighborhood.
I installed them just for a piece of mind since the spare is outside.
I don't have moonroof visor and have not had a chance to open the sunroof cuz it is too cold now.
Check and see you can install them by yourself.
http://www.handaaccessories.com/crv/05CRVMOONROOFV.pdf
www.weathertech.com has the moonroof visor also.
Honda website lists the following for MSRP's:
21,595....... base
550......... dest chg
63 ..........splashguards
189 .........cargo area cover
139 .........drivers side armrest/compartment
22536................ total
==========================================
What's the best deal that one can honestly expect the dealership to sell me this vehicle ?
What are the approximate percentage 'mark-ups' for the base... and then also for each option ?
Is there a tool anywhere on the web that would have these percentages for this specific CR-V ?
Of the BS fees (proccessing fee; convience fees; document fees...etc...)what would be a fair amount to have to pay ?
No trade involved.
Any other tips, suggestions, & help is certainly welcome !!!
I thank you, in advance, for your help !!!
(I posed this question on the CR-V area of the website...this area's readers/posters should be a bit sharper....)
For accessories, visit www.handaaccessories.com to see the price and installation instructions. Mud guard, cargo liner and wheel locks etc can be installed by yourself.
After done with the car price, you need to ask them out the door price. They are usually -car price including the destination charge + sales tax + DMV fee + DOC fee and any other fee required. so make sure you get out the door price so you won't be surprised at pick up.
That post was useful...tried the same question on automotivefo******.com.....lame compared with this site's readers !
Thank you again !!!
(any other advise is very, very welcome !!!)
I find moonroof visors to detract from the looks of the car but that's me!
Heard it is so hard to find a manual or get a good deal.
Did you ask your Austin dealer to match Dallas dealer's quote? If they have them in stock, they might match it.
Be sure that is included destination charge and ask them first any other surprise fee at pick up.
BTW what is pin stripping?
And cars that are largely unpopular as new cars are very poor sellers later when you want to move on to another car.
In any case, we keep our cars for a minimum of 8 years. As I'm sure you know, once a car has passed the 5 year mark, condition & mileage matter more than color & options. That's certainly been my experience.
Yes, Hondas do hold their value and sell quickly. Just know that 5 speed will eliminate probably nine out of ten potential buyers.
1. Per cars.com (edmunds.com doesn't seem to know there are options on an EX), invoice is $21,112, +550 "destination" charge and 830 for automatic = $22,492. Based on this what is the likely lowest price they'd accept and what is the highest I should accept?
2. I know people who claim to have offered the dealer one price (not sure how much over/under invoice) and refused to haggle at all, simply walking out when the salesperson wouldn't agree; they say the salesperson chased them into the parking lot and accepted the offer. Is this plausible? I hate the thought of haggling and would love it if I could just set a fair price and get a car.
Thanks in advance,
e.
2.Unless they still had 05 left and it was last day of month.
Easy way is get quote over the web.Go to hondacars.com and request price quote as many as you can. Have your local dealer match the lowest quote or buy one from the dealer gave you lowest quote. This way no-hassle or no game(they will still play game no matter what though).
And cars that are largely unpopular as new cars are very poor sellers later when you want to move on to another car.
Except that there is a whole bunch of people who are looking for a used 5 spd CR-V out there. Check out the other board. Thank god not all Americans are lazy.
Of course, where you live matters too. In Seattle, we have LOTS of traffic and lots of hills.
I don't think laziness has anything to do with it.
2003 CR-V LX
5 speed
37,800 km (~23,625 mi)
Bumper-to-bumper warranty until mid-Jan 2006
Were asking CAD$24,900, bargained down to $23,300 including cost of rear window tint. Probably could've gone a bit lower but I feel like I did pretty well for a first-time buyer.
I pick up the car tomorrow, still debating about the extended warranty. They're asking CAD$755 for 5yr/100,000km.
I've heard that there is usually a big markup on the warranties, but I'm not sure how much, especially in Canada, as there appears to be little available data. Any suggestions?

That is directly related to lazyness.
Given the 05's are already a year old, and I'll be missing out on the 5 year/50k powertrain warranty, invoice pricing doesn't seem like enough at this time of the year...
Any comments?
Terry.
